My predictions below (I didn't do all categories). I really want Moonlight to do well (pls just let Mahershala Ali win his award) but I have a feeling La La Land is going to win most of the categories. I was happy with a lot of these movies though :) This will be a fun Oscars.

  • There's such a huge outcry of Suicide Squad and that now 'Oscar-winning film Suicide Squad's is no longer a myth...

Like, I haven't watched the film but it sounds terrible from what I heard, bit did you see Killer Croc?! Whoever did that has mad skills.

Only films I know from those that I had an interest in was Jungle Book, to be honest, deserved it's Oscar when 99% was CGI. Zootopia was also brilliant, thoroughly enjoyed it. Can't think of other animated films I saw last year...Maybe Ratchet and Clank and yes I enjoyed it on a nostalgic basis, but quite frankly Zootopia was king of animation.

Don't really follow the Oscars now my boy Leonardo has one :D

EDIT: I forgot about Finding Dory. That was a good watch, but Zootopia was still better.

  • I hadn't even realized that Finding Dory wasn't even nominated. Is that the first time Pixar has had a film that wasn't?

I still think Amy Adams was snubbed to make room for Meryl Streep. Like, we know she deserves a dozens awards, okay, let's just give someone else a spot for once, okay?

  • I'm royally ticked that neither Deadpool nor Shin Godzilla get nominated for anything despite the former being a low-budget superhero film that was well-received for staying true to the source material and the latter having a philosophical theme in regards to nuclear and being a metaphor to the Fukushima power plant disaster (just like how the original 1954 film was a metaphor of the H-Bombs). Also, I find it funny that the winner for Best Picture, Moonlight, is an adaptation film and not an original film like La La Land, so the people who keep clamoring about Hollywood "running out of ideas" and demanding for more original films are blown the heck out because of how little they understand about the history of Hollywood films.

Its weird but because of that whole wrong winner announcement thing a lot of people are overlooking that La La Land not winning is a huge shock. The only nominee I'd seen however was Arrival and honestly its one of the best I have ever seen in my life, but sci-fi doesn't really make for best picture winners. Esper's right though, Amy Adams wasn't in their because if Meryl Streep is in anything she's nominated - I'm sure she was good though.

Kinda funny how Moonlight getting best picture also vindicates Marisa Tomei. I'd never even heard of My Cousin Vinny until I read an "oscar gaffes/controversies" list yesterday but it was a very funny film too and she was great in it.

I think I might need to see The Jungle Book looking at some of the images that have popped up after its' win. And yeah "Oscar winner Suicide Squad" just sounds so, so wrong. But the makeup and hairstyling were the only good things about it other than Will Smith and Margot Robbie.
