Welcome to the newly created and very anticipated extension of PokeTrivia's VPP! This was originally invented by The Elite Ygseto & Omis, then made into the VPP that PC knows today by Caite-chan. Here you are able to obtain Pokémon and raise them alongside your post count as you post on the forums! The process is extremely simple, just ask for a Pokémon, wait for one of the approved team members to respond, and start raising your very own Virtual Pokémon Pet! Once you're done with your VPP, you can raise another one, trade it, or even put it towards earning a legendary Pokémon!

    GENERAL POKECOMMUNITY RULES

Community wide rules apply. That means no porn or graphic images, no advertising, and no linking to illegal/suspicious content. Common sense should guide your actions. If you need a refresher course, please read the global rules.

Don't spam. Spamming just to increase your post account is against the community rules. Raising Virtual Pokémon isn't a race, so have fun and try to make your posts meaningful! This is your chance to integrate with the community and post somewhere new!

    VPP SPECIFIC RULES

    ★ No cheating.
★ You need to have 10 posts to request your first VPP.
★ Only one Trainer Stats thread per Trainer, but you can make as many posts as you want in your thread.
★ Requests for Pokémon should only be made in this thread.
★ You must finish a VPP before you claim a new one - unless you're doing a tag-team.
★ You are responsible for updating your Trainer Stats when you obtain a new VPP, and for keeping track of your items and points.
★ You are not allowed to calculate your own VPPs.
★ You are responsible for asking for medals, ribbons or other rewards you may be eligible for.
★ You cannot retroactively get free VPPs based on your current post count. We will not backdate post counts under any circumstances.
★ Do not harass any VPP staff, we will get to your post as soon as we can!
★ If there is any problem, don't hesitate to contact a current VPP moderator!

    How To Get A VPP:

All requests for Virtual Pokémon should be made in the obtain thread. Please post the following form and fill it in with your own information:

    Name:
    Pokémon:
    Post Count:
    Fully Evolving?:
    Northern or Southern Hemisphere:
*Do you have a Rainbow Stone?:

*An item obtainable in the Shop

With this information, the VPP staff will fulfil your request in the following format:

Your Pokémon @ Your Post Count (meaning that you obtained the egg @ that post count)
Hatch @ Your Post Count +15 (meaning that it will hatch once you've reached the post count stated here)
Pokémon @ Level 100 Your Post Count +175 (meaning that your VPP will be fully raised once your post count reaches this number)
    Shiny: Yes/No (surprise!)
Points: [N/A] (the VPP points are something you get for raising Pokémon)
*Please keep in mind that some of the above will be different depending on the Pokémon requested.

Pokémon you CANNOT claim as your first VPP

    › Legendaries
    › Unown
    › Mega Pokémon
    › Ultra Beasts
    › GMax Pokémon
    › Pairs & Trios
    › Alpha Pokémon
    › Terastal Pokémon

**You can read more about Pairs & Trios in another Tab.

I have my first VPP egg. What do I do with it???

Once you have your egg, you can begin raising your new Virtual Pet! As you post on the PokéCommunity forums, your VPP will hatch and grow alongside your post count, simple! You keep track of your post count yourself, and once your VPP has reached Lv. 100, you can mark it as finished in your stats thread and return to the Obtain Your Pokémon thread to request a new one! Your points for raising that Pokémon will also be eligible to spend from then on.

Got it! What else should I do?

You'll need to create your very own Breeder Stats thread! When you receive your VPP, you should keep a record of the information we give you along with it. You can format it however you like, but be sure to keep a note of all the important things, such as when it was received and finished, what challenges or legendaries the Pokémon has been used towards, how many points you have, and any items you might have bought along the way!

    Example:

    025.png

    Name: Pikachu
    Pikachu @ 6,002
    Hatch @ 6,017
    Raichu @ Level 100: 6,177
    Shiny: No
    Points: 70

    Get More:

So, we've got you interested! Good! Here we will explain how to get FREE VPPS. You must request any of these Pokémon by yourself, we won't go looking for people that are eligible!

    • 1) Birthday Pokémon (You get a free VPP and 100 points during the week of your birthday!)
    • 2) PC Anniversary Pokémon (You get a free VPP and 100 points during the week of your PC Anniversary!)
    • 3) Completing Challenges (More information, and points for each challenge can be found in the Challenge tab!)
    • 4) Completing GOLD Medals (More information on this can be found in the Medals tab!)
    • 5) Completing PLATINUM Medals (More information on this can be found in the Medals tab!)
    • 6) Earning 5 Ribbons (More information on this can be found in the Ribbons tab!)
    • 7) Master Pokémon (You get a free Pokémon for every 10 Pokémon you raise. See the Special tab for more information!)

      - (55,000 - 100,000)
      - (100,000 - 200,000)

    * Because the Posting Milestone system is new, you are entitled to one free VPP for the post bracket you fall into and ONLY that bracket. You cannot retroactively collect 4 VPPs for having 15k posts. If you have 3,588 posts, you fall into the [1,250 - 5,000] bracket and can claim one free VPP*

[alink id="top"]★ return to top ★[/alink id]

    Seasonal

All Pokémon types are associated with a season of the year. Pokémon will get a discount of -15 posts if raised during their assigned season! If a Pokémon is dual type, then it qualifies for the discount if EITHER typing is currently in season.

Dual type Pokémon do NOT count for a double discount however. For example - Pyroar (Fire/Normal) can be considered either a Summer or Winter Seasonal Pokémon for -15 posts, but Vikavolt (Bug/Electric) cannot be counted as -30 posts for its dual typing being seasonal in Summer. Nearly every Pokémon qualifies for the seasonal discount, but you can find the full list at the bottom of this tab!

The seasons differ depending on which hemisphere you currently reside in. You can find the season chart below:

[alink id="top"]★ return to top ★[/alink id]

    Legendaries

After you raise several VPPs, rare Pokémon will become available for you to obtain. A Legendary Pokémon can be obtained as early as your 4th VPP if you have the necessary types!

You will need three DIFFERENT Pokémon to put towards gaining your desired Legendary. For example, if you have Pichu, Elekid, and Comfey (2 Electric and 1 Fairy), you qualify to raise a Tapu Koko! If you have Larvesta, Abra, and Torchic (2 Fire and 1 Psychic), you could raise Victini!

A full list of Legendary Pokémon, and their requirements, are posted further below.

You will need keep a record of what Legendary you have put your VPP towards in your stats.

    For example:

    025.png

    Name: Pikachu
    Pikachu @ 6,002
    Hatch @ 6,017
    Raichu @ Level 100: 6,177
    Shiny: No
    Points: 70
    Used for: OBTAINING A ZAPDOS
Challenge: Strike Down Like a Thunderstorm

    Legendary Pokémon Rules:

    • Legendaries take 240 posts to complete
    • Legendaries can be Seasonal and may also be raised as a Tag-Team if BOTH partners meet the requirements
    • In order to raise a Legendary Pokémon, you must raise other Pokémon first. Each Legendary has a unique set of 3 type requirements that must be fulfilled in order to obtain it.
    • You will need to complete 10 non-legendary Pokémon between every legendary you raise. This includes Mega/GMax Legendary forms. The only exception is your 1st Legendary & Arceus.
    • For Ultra Beast the same restrictions apply, but Ultra Beasts require 250 posts to complete
    • Ultra Beasts also require that one of the Pokémon put forth to claim it is a Legendary

ARCEUS: After completing normal Arceus, you unlock the option to get its different type versions. Every one of those requires you to buy the respective plate from the Mart. Regular Arceus DOES NOT require the user to own a Plate. Arceus will then need 2 Normal and 1 Type Pokémon + the Type Plate (or 3 Normal + Legend Plate, in case you wish further Normal type Arceus). You DO NOT need to wait 10 Pokémon to do Type Arceus. Arceus does not apply for Seasonal, Club, or Tag-Team discounts.

    Community

It's time to work with your fellow Pokémon Trainers to raise a Pokémon together. This will be a once in a while type event. Keep an eye on the Events tab for the next one!

How does it work? Well everyone will nominate one Non-Legendary / Ultra Beast Pokémon and then the VPP Team will select one of them at random for us all to raise together! Sometimes a community Pokémon will also be pre-determined by staff for certain events.

So how many posts will it take? It depends! Each event will have a base post number, let's use 1,000 posts as an example. These are divided by the amount of participants! So if 8 people sign up then it will take 125 posts each, if 10 sign up then it will cost just 100 posts each, and so on! Obviously the more people that sign up the better and the less posts we all have to make!

So what's the catch? Well... if any of us fail to finish our part then nobody will get the VPP, so please only sign up if you're reasonable confident of finishing your quota!

A Community event will usually look like the following:

    • VPP Staff will announce a Community Day and everyone involved will have a WEEK to post a Pokémon.
    • VPP Staff will then roll the dice to see which one we will raise and whether or not it will be shiny.
    • You will then post your current post count and we will then give you your post requirement to complete.
    • Once you've completed your posts, reply in the thread so we can cross you off.
    • Once everyone has completed their posts, you then can add the Pokémon to your stats and will be able to be used for anything in VPP.
    • Unless staff has explicitly stated otherwise, users cannot recommend a Legendary, Ultra Beast, Mega, GMax, Alpha, or Noble Pokémon etc.

Please note, we may hold Community events with different posting requirements depending on the occasion!

    Special Pokémon

There are certain Pokémon that have special requirements to obtain and raise. Some of these Pokémon also have their own set of mechanics that differ from regular VPPs.

    › Shiny Pokémon
For nearly every Pokémon you request, we will roll a 100-sided dice and any number 25 or below will give you a shiny, so a 25% chance! If you own a Rainbow Stone, your chances of a shiny increases to a generous 35% every time!

    › Master Pokémon
Once you have completed 10 full VPPs you reach "VPP Master Status". You may choose one of any Pokémon (other than a Legendary/Ultra Beast, Mega, Gigantamax, Alpha, Noble, Terastal, or a Pair/Trio) to add to your completed collection without any post requirement. These Master Pokémon do count towards the 10 VPPs between Legendary Pokémon.

For every 10 full VPPs you complete, you may obtain another Master Pokémon, so make sure you keep count! If you miss your window and complete 14 VPPs before requesting a Master, those additional 4 Pokémon DO NOT get added to your total, it will still be 10 more completed VPPs before you can claim your next one

    › Birthday / Challenge / Reward Pokémon

Reward Pokémon for beating challenges, collecting medals & ribbons, celebrations or for various other activities, follow similar rules as Master Pokémon: You can choose one Pokémon (other than a Legendary/Ultra Beast, Mega, Gigantamax, Alpha, Noble, Terastal or a Pair/Trio) to add to your completed collection without any post requirement. These Pokémon also do count towards the 10 VPPs between Legendary Pokémon.

› Pokémon Forms (with different Types): Sometimes to prevent redundancy, we assign different typings to various Pokémon in an effort to incentivize users to collect them all. Different types means they can be used in different challenges and applied for different medals:

    • Vivillon (Archipelago Pattern) - you replace one type with Electric
    • Vivillon (Continental Pattern) - you replace one type with Rock
    • Vivillon (Elegant Pattern) - you replace one type with Fairy
    • Vivillon (Garden Pattern) - you replace one type with Poison

Unown are a unique kind of Pokémon. They only require 25 posts each to complete. They come with their own special gimmick: if you raise enough Unown you can claim a free VPP by "spelling it out".

Example 1: You want a Ponyta? Ponyta has 6 letters in its name, so we simply multiply the post requirement for an Unown by the number of letters in the Pokémon's name.
    Y4KB6b5.png
    cuxh4K6.png
    pKoR1KD.png
    9Mr1B4u.png
    KeXlSqU.png
    hINln9K.png

    25 x 6 = 150.
A non-seasonal Ponyta would be 175 posts, so you'd get a good discount!

But, for other Pokémon, it might not be worth going the Unown route to obtain them:
Example 2: Magikarp. If it's not seasonal than it will take 175 posts to finish.
    SFRFXtC.png
    hINln9K.png
    VMRwDrj.png
    aDiGyTW.png
    amjTEos.png
    hINln9K.png
    6O3inNc.png
    Y4KB6b5.png

    25 x 8 = 200
If you try to spell it out with Unown that's 8 letters meaning 200 posts total to complete. So, that would not be worth it. It would be better to wait until Magikarp is in season or have a Club discount applied.

Keep in mind that you can use every individual Unown you raised towards a single free VPP only. If you used an Unown (A) for an Alomomola then you need to raise another Unown (A) if you want to get an Absol. Likewise, if a Pokémon's name contains a letter multiple times, you need to raise those letter Unown multiple times, as well. In order to get a free Alomomola you need two Unown (A, L, M) and three Unown (O) to spell its name fully.

    Getting All Unown
There's currently a total of 28 Unown, so multiplying 28 by 25 is equals 700 posts if you go from "A" to "?". Obtaining them all means completing the Unown challenge, medal requirements, and adding Pokemon to your collection!

    You cannot use Unown to:
    - Speedrun a Master Challenge (10 VPPs)
    - Obtain Legendary Pokémon
    - Obtain GMax Pokémon
    - Obtain Mega Pokémon
    - Obtain Alpha Pokémon
    - Obtain Noble Pokémon
    - Obtain Terastal Pokémon
    - Obtain Pairs & Tros
    - Obtain Fully Evolved Pokémon
    - To complete the "Gone Mental Challenge" (requires 6 Psychic Types)

    They do NOT apply for:
    - Seasonal discounts
    - Tag-Teams
    - Club discounts

You do not get any additional perks for obtaining them "in order". Any organization of Unown is fine as long as you collect them all eventually, or specifically spell out a Pokémon

    Mega Pokémon

To obtain a Mega Pokémon, you will need to buy a Mega Ring and the appropriate Mega Stone for the Pokémon you'd like to raise. They will take 200 posts to complete, unless they qualify for any discounts such as Seasonal etc.

You cannot retroactively use a Mega Stone on an existing Pokémon. Your completed Venusaur will not become a Mega Venusaur if you buy a Venusaurite. You will have to raise another Bulbasaur with the intention of Mega Evolving it.

    REMEMBER:
Some Mega Evolutions have a different typing from their non-Mega counterparts! Always doublecheck so your Medal collection stays organized!*

    Primal Kyogre & Groudon:

The Legendary Pokémon Kyogre and Groudon aren't like the other Mega Evolutions. They gain Primal Reversion forms, accessible when holding the correct Reversion Orb. You can purchase the Orbs at the Mart other Mega Stones.

› Primal Reversion Groudon - Reversion Orb: Red Orb

You will need to buy a Gigantamax Band to unlock the ability to request GMax Pokémon. You will also need a Gigantamax Candy, which is a consumable item used for every GMax Pokémon you raise. Gigantamax Pokémon take 225 posts to complete, unless they qualify for any discounts such as Seasonal etc.

Like Mega Pokémon, Gigantamax Pokémon will be considered a different Pokémon. You can't use a GMax Candy retroactively on Pokémon you've already completed.

GMax Pokémon apply for Tag-Teams, Seasonal discounts, and Club discounts.

    Terastal Pokémon

To obtain a Terastal Pokémon, you will need to buy a Tera Orb. They will take 200 posts to complete, unless they qualify for any discounts such as Seasonal, Club, etc.

A Terastal Pokémon gain an extra type, so, for example, Tera Ice Pikachu is treated as an Electric / Ice Pokémon for the purposes of Legendaries, Medals, Challenges, etc.

You can pick any Tera Type as long as it is not Bird and the Pokémon you're trying to Terastallize isn't a reward for an event, challenge, wasn't obtained via Pair / Trio and isn't Unown. You also cannot retroactively Terastallize Pokémon you already have.

Terastal Pokémon may only qualifiy for a type based discount (such as the Seasonal discount or the Club discount) if they already had that type before the Tera Type. Having that type as the Tera type also may not give a "double discount".

[alink id="top"]★ return to top ★[/alink id]

    Pairs & Trios of Pokémon

Some Pokémon can be raised in predefined pairs or trios. A pair of Pokémon takes 300 posts to complete, while a trio will need 450 posts.

Each Pokémon in a pair/trio can be used separately towards requirements, challenges, medals, etc, just as with normal Pokémon.

Some pairs/trios require you to use an existing VPP to obtain them, in much the same way legendaries do.

Pairs and Trios cannot be shiny.

Pairs/Trios don't qualify for tag-teams or for seasonal and club discounts.

    Tag-Team Pokémon

Alongside raising your own VPPs, you can raise another Pokémon with a partner as part of a tag-team!

All you need to do is find a teammate, then decide on a Pokémon to raise together! BOTH tag-team members will need to finish their post requirement before the Pokémon can be considered complete. Once you have finished your part, let us know in the in the DCC Thread. You will then have to wait for your partner to finish their half, if they haven't already.

If an Event is taking place then Event rules supersede normal Tag Team rules regarding amount of posts to complete etc. Both partners require a Rainbow Stone to have an increased chance of a shiny as a Tag-Team. Both partners will also need to have all items, and have fulfilled all requirements, necessary to raise the Pokémon.

Pokémon that otherwise qualify for seasonal or club discounts will also receive the discount with tag-teams, but only if both partners are eligible. These do not stack and cannot be used at the same time.

Each partner must fill out this form, and post it in the obtain thread. VPP staff will then action your request.

    Name:
    Partner:
    Pokémon:
    Fully Evolving:
    Post Count:
    Northern or Southern Hemisphere:
    Own a Rainbow Stone:

    Inactivity Clause

If your partner has not posted for four weeks and you have already finished your half then you can make an inactive partner request. In this request please provide a link to your finishing post, as well. Once approved, you will be able to consider your tag-team Pokémon complete and can then use it towards requirements. You will also be able to start another tag-team if desired. The inactive partner will still be liable to finish their half if they return before they can consider it complete.

    Things you can Tag-Team!

    • Regular Pokémon (200 posts)
      No requirements
    • Seasonal Pokemon (185 posts)
Users must be within the same Hemisphere
    • Club Pokémon (170 posts)
Both users must be in the same club
    • Mega Pokémon (210 posts)
Both partners must have a Mega Ring & Mega Stone of choice
    • GMax Pokémon (225 posts)
Both partners must have the GMax Band & Candy
    • Terastal Pokémon (210 posts)
Both partners must have a Tera Orb and agree to the same Tera Type
    • Alpha Pokémon (180 posts)

Both partners must have 10+ VPPs since their last Legendary

    Alpha & Noble Pokémon

Alpha Pokémon are required to obtain a Noble Pokémon. You can obtain them by purchasing a permanent, reusable upgrade in the Mart: the "Alpha Voucher". Simply ask for your VPP to be Alpha and the staff will give you the information as normal.

    • Regular Alphas are worth 90 points and require 200 posts.
    • Seasonal Alphas are worth 90 points and require 185 posts.
    • Club Alphas are worth 90 points and require 170 posts.
    • Tag-Team Alphas are worth 90 points and require 180 posts.
    • Tag-Team & Seasonal Alphas are worth 90 points and require 165 posts.

    Noble Pokémon

Because of their rarity, Noble Pokémon have a special set of requirements before you can obtain one. Each Noble Pokémon will require you to raise 6 Alpha Pokémon from their allocated list of Alpha Pokémon below. Once you can prove you've raised 6 Alpha Pokémon - you are able to obtain your Noble Pokémon for FREE + 100 points.

If you raise an Alpha Gyarados, that would still count for Kleavor, because you technically raised an Alpha Magikarp.

Every completed Alpha counts towards a Noble only once.

    Frequently Asked Questions #1

Q: I'm still confused, how does this work?

A: Ask for a VPP, raise the VPP by posting, complete the VPP by reaching the post requirement, and repeat! You are not required to participate in the more complex aspects of this game. This is about having fun and can be as simple or complicated as you want!

Q: Can my VPP be shiny / have special coloring?
A: Most VPPs you receive have a chance of being shiny! There are also other ways of receiving them such as special events!

Q: Does my VPP have to be shiny if I don't want it to be?
A: Of course not! Just let us know you don't want a shiny when you request the Pokémon

Q: Noble Electrode and Noble Arcanine both require an Alpha Mothim, can I use it for both?
A: No. Out of the list of 5 Noble Pokémon, there is some crossover with the Alpha Pokémon used to obtain them. However, you cannot use 1 Alpha to apply for 2 Nobles. You can, however, obtain 2 Alpha Mothim and use them for the purpose of getting Noble Electrode and Noble Arcanine respectively.

    ★ select a topic ★

    Challenges:

You can assign your VPPs towards official VPP challenges for extra rewards! When you use a VPP for a challenge, make sure to list which challenge it is being applied towards in your Trainer Stats - each VPP can only be used for one challenge! - if you want to attempt multiple challenges that feature the same VPP, then you will need to raise more than one of that Pokémon!

Below are listed some basic rules and guides for challenges:

    • Completing a challenge will earn you ONE free regular VPP of your choice and a pre-determined number of points. (Please see the "Reward Pokémon" section under the "Special" tab in part one of this guide for more information on what types of VPPs you can claim)
    • You can only use your VPP's towards one challenge. Example: If you use Carnivine for the Team Rocket James challenge you can NOT use it again for any other challenge.
    • Challenges will usually require you to raise a minimum of 4 Pokémon. Some challenges may have considerably more.
    • Fully evolved Pokémon count for challenges that list their not-fully evolved form unless stated otherwise. Example: You have an Arcanine but the James Challenge requires Growlithe - Arcanine still counts because it was a Growlithe as you raised it.
    • Alpha Pokemon, Gigantamax and Megas can also be used unless a challenge explicitly requires Pokemon of one of these mechanics. For example: you can not use a Gigantamax Scizor when the challenge requires Mega Scizor.

ONE TIME CHALLENGE: You can complete only once.

MULTIPLE TIME CHALLENGES: You can complete more than once with different Pokémon.

LARGE CHALLENGES: These require more than 6 Pokémon and will get you more points.

VIVILLONS: Each pattern represents a different type. Vivillon is a Bug/Flying Type but whichever pattern you pick you can change one of it's typings. For Example: Meadow pattern you can have it be either Grass/Flying or Bug/Grass.

ALCREMIES: Each set of Sweets will represent a different type. Alcremie is a pure Fairy but like Vivillons, if you purchase 1 of the 7 different types of Alcremie Sweets from the shop they will become a second (dual) type.

    Medals

You can earn Medals for raising a certain number of Pokémon from each type. All VPPs, including reward Pokémon count towards medals.

    • Reaching each Medal tier earns you points.
    • After you reach a tier, your total keeps accumulating towards the next tier. You don't need to start over.
    • Dual types count towards BOTH Medal types. Example: Trevenant counts +1 towards Ghost AND Grass medals.
    • For earning a Gold Medal, you can claim any regular Reward Pokémon and it will have a 50/50 chance of being shiny. (Please see the "Reward Pokémon" section under the "Special" tab in part one of this guide for more information on what types of VPPs you can claim)
    • For earning a Platinum Medal, you can claim any regular Reward Pokémon and it will have a 100% chance of being shiny. (Please see the "Reward Pokémon" section under the "Special" tab in part one of this guide for more information on what types of VPPs you can claim)
    • To collect your Medal, post in the Obtain Your Pokémon thread saying you're ready to be checked for whichever Medal you're going for. Remember to list each VPP that applies. One of the VPP Staff will check your Trainer Stats and award you your medal & points.

    Trading

Welcome! Here you can learn all about how trading works within VPP!

Trading is a fundamental staple of the Pokémon franchise and we feel it should be given a greater amount of consideration and attention than it has in VPP's past. The VPP staff team have reconstructed trading from the ground up, and we feel this new system will benefit the community and integrate trading into VPP much better than before! Our goal is to offer as many freedoms as we can, while still keeping reasonable limits, in order to prevent this new system from being abused. As such, we have established a new set of rules below.

    Introducing: New & Updated Items!

    THE LINK CABLE
Any trainers looking to participate in trading must have a Link Cable in their inventory. It can be purchased for 1,500 points in the Mart. However, the Link Cable now comes with a few added changes and bonuses. Owning a Link Cable means you can trade VPPs that are harder to obtain (Megas, GMax, Legendaries, etc). On top of that, you may receive more than one VPP during a trade if your trading partner agrees - as long as that other trainer also owns a Link Cable. We hope this can be used to encourage users to exchange more "high tier" VPPs with one another and get better and fairer trades as a result.

    EXCHANGE TOKENS
Now available in the Mart is a new consumable item, the Exchange Token! We've included this item in order to make trading more accessible to trainers earlier in their VPP journeys. This item costs 150 points and can be used one time to initiate a 1 VPP for 1 VPP trade with another user who also has an Exchange Token. Plus, it comes with a secret benefit: if you have purchased x10 Exchange Tokens in total, you are automatically gifted the Link Cable! Exchange Tokens only allow you to trade 1 Regular/Seasonal VPP for another 1 Regular/Seasonal VPP. Any other kind of Pokémon, or number of Pokémon traded, is banned until you purchase or unlock a Link Cable.

    THE TRADING RULEBOOK

These new rules are drastically different to the ones you may be familiar with. Staff have concluded that the previous trading model was too restrictive and didn't incentivize trainers to actually engage in trading. Please make sure you read though the following carefully:

IMPORTANT: all users must follow these guidelines:

    • Regular & Seasonal VPPs can be traded ONCE a week.
      - Requires a Link Cable / Exchange Token
    • Mega/GMax/Alpha/Terastal VPPs can be traded ONCE every six months.
      - Requires a Link Cable
    • Legendaries/Ultra Beasts/Noble VPPs can ONLY be traded annually.
      - Requires a Link Cable
      • You can only initiate ONE trade, but you can receive multiple VPPs as long as both parties have a Link Cable.
You can offer, or request, more than one Pokémon in return for a high value VPP such as a shiny or Legendary as long as both parties own a Link Cable. You will then be placed on a cool-down list for that type of Pokémon until they can be traded again.
      • Community VPPs, Unown, MissingNo formes, Pairs & Trios, and Tag-Team Pokémon CANNOT be traded.
        - Note: This does not mean there won't be trading events in the future that may allow banned VPPs.

    • Both users must have the Link Cable or an Exchange Token in order to trade.
*Please read above for more information on the differences between these two items.
    • A traded VPP now has no restrictions on how it can be used by the new owner! This is why we have created a cool-down period between trades. The VPP is eligible to be used for medals, Masters, Challenges, obtaining Legendaries, and adds to your VPP total. VPPs that have been traded away are likewise not removed from that person's achievements.
[*] All VPPs that have been traded away MUST be recorded as being traded in your Breeder Stats, including to who and for what. Likewise, all VPPs received in a trade must be denoted as such.

EXAMPLE #1 - TRADED VPP AWAY
    Pikachu @ 6,002
    Hatch @ 6,017
    Raichu @ Level 100: 6,177
    Shiny: No
    Points: 70
    Used for: Nothing
Challenge: Strike Down Like a Thunderstorm
    Traded to Megan for Glaceon

    ~

EXAMPLE #2 - VPP RECIEVED VIA TRADE
    Eevee @ 1,889
    Hatch @ 1,904
    Glaceon @ Level 100: 2,064
    Shiny: No
    Points: N/A
    Used for: Nothing yet
    Challenge: Eeveelution Master
Obtained in trade for Fairy's Raichu

    • Previously traded VPPs can be put up for trade multiple times.
      - You could technically even be traded the same Pokémon back at some point!
    • VPPs that have been traded away cannot retroactively be used for a challenge or legendary after the trade. While a traded VPP does not "vanish" from a user's overall total, that Pokémon is PERMANENTLY restricted from being assigned to a new challenge or used to obtain a Legendary once the trade is complete. Newly obtained VPPs, however, are free to be used as the new owner wishes.

      Examples:
      - Fairy traded Charmander to Megan. Charmander can no longer be attributed to any VPP game mechanic by Fairy.
      - Megan just received Charmander from Fairy in a trade! Megan can use Charmander towards a challenge and to obtain a Legendary if desired!
    • It is not possible to retroactively "stack" trades. If 5 weeks pass without you making a trade, you cannot make suddenly make 5 Regular/Season trades.
    • Users are permitted to trade Mega Pokémon and GMax Pokémon as long as the trade partner has the required items as well.
      Example:
      - Fairy cannot trade Mega Gardevoir to Roni because Roni does not own a Mega Ring!
      - This applies to any VPP that requires a permanent upgrade to obtain via normal means.

    • Imprudent trading for the sole purpose of abusing VPP game mechanics is STRICTLY PROHIBITED. VPP Staff expects users to act responsibly while trading and not arrange ways to exploit this system in order to "win" VPP. Doing so will have consequences.
      - As with every new system there are bound to be bugs and growing pains. We expect this will be the case here as well. It is perfectly fine to trade multiple VPPs for the purpose of reaching different goals, as that's a legitimate strategy of the game. However, deliberately looking for exploits or arranging potentially game breaking trades can result in expulsion from VPP's trading program and possibly other penalties including, but not limited to, infractions on your PC account.
      - Users are expected to adhere to the "spirit" of VPP trading and only use it for fun, reasonable, and intended purposes. As we encounter issues that might come up, VPP Staff reserve the right to expand upon this and create new rules to eliminate any loopholes.
      - If you're not sure: ASK! Staff are always available to help if you have any questions. If you're unsure if your trade is allowed, don't hesitate to reach out and ask.

Agreed to a trade? Now what?

Now, both you and your trade partner must post in the Obtain a Pokémon thread with the following form. Then, once the trade offer has been reviewed and approved by VPP Staff, we will let you know that your trade has been successful or, if unsuccessful, why that would be the case.

    NAME:
    TRADE PARTNER:
    POKEMON BEING TRADED:
    POKEMON BEING RECEIVED:

    HAVE FUN!

    Frequently Asked Questions #2

Q: So exactly how can I use different VPPs?
A: Let's say you have a Moltres which is a Fire & Flying type. Moltres can be used to add one "point" towards each Medal for both Fire and Flying. Moltres can also be used to complete a challenge, such as the "Legendary Master" Challenge or any other it is applicable towards. Moltres can also be used for a number of different Ribbons, depending on what it applies for. For example: the "First Legendary Ribbon". However, if Moltres is not your first Legendary, but your 50th VPP, it might award you the "Master Challenges Ribbon" instead. Lastly, Moltres can be used to obtain another Legendary Pokemon. For example: You can use Moltres's Fire Type towards Heatran, and its Flying Type towards Tornadus. Due to its status as a Legendary Pokemon, Moltres can even be used to summon an Ultra Beast!

It is in your best interest to keep how you use your VPPs and their typings organized.

Q: So in summary, how many times can I use a Pokémon towards challenge & Legendary requirements?
A: A dual-type Pokémon can be used up to 3 times. Once towards a challenge and once for each of its two typings towards Legendary Pokémon / sets etc. A single type Pokémon can be used twice, once towards a challenge, once towards requirements. A Terastal Pokémon gets an extra use corresponding to its Tera Type. A Pokémon cannot be used more than once towards the same set of requirements.

Q: I have an idea for a Challenge or a new Ribbon!
A: Great! Contact any of the current VPP staff and we'll review your proposal.

Q: I started an [insert type] Club! Can it be included with the list of Clubs?
A: As long as the Clubhouse Moderators, VisionofMilotic & Ninetales, approve your thread - and you ask the VPP staff, your club will most likely be accepted.

Q: Can I get a post-reduction for both Club and Seasonal at the same time?
A: No. Because you get more of a discount for being part of a Club so that will be taken into account first.

    Organizing your VPPs: Suggestions

VPP can be as complex and in-depth, or as shallow and easy going as you'd like it to be. You can just ask for Pokémon, complete the posts, wait four months, remember VPP exists, come back and ask for another -- all without paying any mind to points, or medals, or ribbons, or anything else! As long as the Pokémon you want doesn't come with some requirement (which the staff will tell you about, if you're not sure), you're free to come and go as you please. On the other hand, we have users who are meticulous with their stats, know the rules better than most, already have +100 VPPs, and calculate things to an obsessive degree. For those looking for a more developed and structured experience, but don't necessarily want to make VPP you're entire forum existence, we have a few recommendations for you!

    1. Reading our rules should obviously be the first thing.
    2. Make a breeder stats thread. You don't want to keep all your Pokémon stats in your head. It doesn't need to be fancy, or detailed, or anything special, this is just for record keeping.
    3. When you request a VPP, keep and post the info we give you in that stats thread. It will look something like this:

      Eevee @ 10
      Hatch @ 25
      Sylveon Level 100 @ 185
      Shiny: N/A
      Points: 70
      • > List the challenge you intend to use the Pokémon for.
      • > List the Pokémon's typing so you know what medal(s) to apply it to.
      • > List the challenge you have used the Pokémon for if applicable..
      • > List if you use the Pokémon to obtain a Legendary / Pair & Trio.
    4. Add up all your Points. As you accumulate more, you can spend them on items for new Pokémon if you want.
    5. Keep some kind of inventory, so if you do buy upgrades / items you know what you have.
    6. Keep count of how many VPPs you have. 10 VPPs = a Masters Challenge which means free Pokémon.
    7. You also need to wait 10 VPPs between each Legendary so having a count of that is useful too.
    8. Make sure you post your VPPs in order, as in, the order you requested/completed them in.
    9. Don't start a Tag-Team if you know you're not going to take it seriously. It's also a good idea to choose a partner who posts at the same pace as you.
    10. It's up to you to request Ribbons, Medals, Master VPPs, Birthday VPPs, Anniversary VPPs, etc. Staff aren't going to hunt you down!
    11. You can come and go as you please. But even if it has been a year and you haven't finished your current VPP, we do expect you to complete it before you get another.
    12. All of the above is just suggestions if you want to make your VPP experience easier.
    13. The most important rule... have fun! :)
