6th Gen July Coro-Coro: 5 New Pokemon + Xerneas & Yveltal typings + Oorotto

Fresh outta Serebii, we get these goodies:

The next batch of CoroCoro information has been released and this batch showcases more information on the upcoming games Pokémon X & Y. We're currently in the process of translating so keep checking back. Xerneas is Fairy-type, Yveltal is Dark/Flying. Xerneas has an ability called Fairy Aura while Yveltal has one called Dark Aura. Fairy Aura powers up Fairy-type moves while Dark Aura powers up Dark-type moves. Xerneas has a special move called Geo Control and Yveltal one called Death Wing
Pancham's evolution is called Koronda (コロンダ) and has the ability Iron Fist. It is Fighting/Dark-type. It has the move Hammer Arm and a new method of evolution
The pink bird is called Shushup (シュシュップ) and is Fairy-type. It is the Perfume Pokémon and has the ability of Healer. It knows the move Aroma Therapy
The Squids are called Maika (マーイーカ), the Rotation Pokémon, and its evolution Karamanero (カラマネロ) the Reverasl Pokémon and are Dark/Psychic-type Pokémon. Maika has a move called Turn Over which reverses stat changes. It's a Dark-type move
The puff ball is called Peroppafu ( ペロッパフ) and is also a Fairy-type. Its ability is a new one called Sweet Pale. It's the Cotton Candy Pokémon and has the new move Drain Kiss
Clauncher is exclusive to Pokémon X while Skrelp is exclusive to Pokémon Y
There's a new Gym leader, with the robot arms, called ****oron (シトロン) while the other Gym Leader is called Zakuro (ザクロ)
The professor is called Purataanu (プラターヌ)
The evil team is called Team Flair/Flare (フレア団)
CoroCoro is offering special Xerneas & Yveltal figures if you pre-order the games and send in a form

What are your thoughts? Surprised at all by Xerneas' type?

Xerneas being a Fairy type and Yveltal being a Dark/Flying type are not surprising in the slightest. After Fairy was revealed it was pretty much predictable that that was going to be the typings. Definitely okay with this, I really like having a Dark typed legendary, which is something we've never seen before (outside of Darkrai!).

Goronda (Pancham's evolution) look awesome. I'm pretty happy they went from spunky to completely ferocious in terms of appearance. I have no idea why, but it's cape-like thing is pretty awesome looking too =P

Maika (the baby squid) and it's evolution are totally adorable. Plus Dark/Psychic typing is really cool. Sounds like something I'd want to try out just for screwing around with the type and move combinations. Admittedly the 4x weakness to Bug kind of stinks, but Bug moves aren't totally common so that's no big deal.

Peroppafu (the puff ball) is adorable. Definitely Fairy-type looking (in my opinion). I don't think I'd ever use it, but the fact that it is a X-exclusive Pokémon while Shushup (the pink bird, also Fairy typed) is Y-exclusive kind of leads me to getting X version.

Honedge getting No Guard is awesome. I'm really expecting it to get some cool lower accuracy moves for it to abuse. Here's hoping it has the offensive stats to back it up!

REALLY liking the appearance of the two Gym Leaders. We don't know their typings yet, but aesthically they're awesome.

AND IT'S OFFICIAL: TEAM FLAIR/FLARE! Weird name, not something I would have expected. Their motivation being making money and only making money is pretty out-there too, but it's different at least.

Team Flair sounds like Team Rocket...though after Team Aqua,Magma, Galactic, and Plasma's plots I don't blame them as they would've been hard to top especially Galactic's.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, THEY HAVE ****ING FLAIR, THAT'S POKÉMON FOR SWAG

Also Honedge No Guard Guillotine, I can't wait for myself shouting "VIVA LA REVOLUTION" every time I OHKO an Elite Four's Pokémon.

Also I have reason to believe we have a Rock-type gym leader (the guy had gems in his rock-like hair) and an electric or steel type gym leader.

As for the typings... I would have preferred Grass-Fairy and Flying-Dark, tbh.

I'm not the bit surprised Yveltal is a Dark/Flying and I was expecting Xerneas to be at least part Fairy. Pure Fairy was a bit off-guard but I'm not than okay with it. Death Wing sounds like a really cool move! It's may be changed in the English version and I'd be happy if if isn't. Yveltal being Dark/Flying makes me sure I'm getting Y.

Goronda is freaking awesome. Who knew Pancham would have such a badass evolution! I'm so getting a Pancham on my team now! And it's Fighting/Dark! Looks like Scraggy and Scrafty have new friends.I wonder what it's new method of evolution is.

Maika and Karamanero are really cute and Dark/Psychic is a rather interesting typing. We finally have a squid Pokemon and they're really cute!

Peroppafu is so cute!!! It's based on cotton candy which is an interesting thing to base a Pokemon on. I guess the Vanillite of this generation. Kind of disappointed it's X exclusive though.

Shushup is quite interesting. Not sure what kind of bird it's based on, maybe a flamingo? It really looks like a fllamingo to me.If so, then it makes since it's Fairy. It's really cute.

I like the new professor, Purataanu, he has cool hair and looks rather young. I love that you get to battle him every now and then! Maybe you will get to battle after you get your starter as a first battle.

The new gym leaders are cool. My guess is that Shi toron (spaced to bypass filter, the only time I'm doing it. Once we get an English name, i'm using it over it's Japanese.) is an Electric type specialist cause of his weird gears in the backpack. I really him. Zakuro's cool too, but his hair is odd. What's the blue, yellow and red things? I really hope this guy is a Dark type gym leader cause he really give a Dark vibe not cause of his skin color.

Team Flare. Interesting names for a villainous team.Too bad it doesn't complete the GRAMPS theory. Interesting outfits too, dig the suits. Their goal is to make money? That's rather simple but out there.

I also wanted Xerneas to be Grass/Fairy, oh well.

I think the other gym leader is a fighting gym leader as they say he's athletic, of course that could just be a hobby like Crasher Wake from Sinnoh likes fighting, and how Brawly of Hoenn like surfing and they aren't fighting and water respectively...but the reverse lol.

Honedge has Guillotine? If that is to be true that be the most hax thing in awhile...

Pancham's evo has a Badass Longcoat Trope. Not a cape. Love it.

It does sound like the rumor...with the gyroscope being rotation and the turning upside down the reversal piece...we always keep on coming back to these rumors xD.

Say what you will about a "cotton candy" pokemon being stupid, I still hate Jumpluff more. (not that anyone has hated on cottonee version 2 yet.)

I bet the American localization team is kicking themselves for not saving the name Cottonee for the Cotton Candy Pokemon!!!! XD

Similar, definitely. Team Rocket's focus though was definitely the use of Pokémon, stealing, and selling them to make their money. From what we know now Team Flare (I'm sticking with this spelling, it just looks so much better =P) just wants to make money. Maybe not enough has been revealed yet, but the lack of Pokémon or their usage in their scheme is a pretty big difference. Of course, it's assumed Pokémon will be used somehow, but from the current information they aren't the tool and the currency to do so.

I'd kind of like to see that rumor come true. With Maika and it's evolution it does look like that might be possibile, so who knows!

Too bad Juniper is still alone as a female prof for the main serie.

I'm still getting Y despite Clauncher being X exclusive. I don't care enough for it, for it to be a big deal and I can always get X too later on and trade one over or ask someone with X to trade me one. So it's not a big deal really.

I'm alright with these new Pokemon, although I think I generally preferred others that were revealed before... for the time being, anyway. Pancham's evolution is pretty cool though - a giant angry panda should be fun to use. =p

The new team.... well, they like red. =p A money based team is rather vague in that how they want to achieve that goal can be done in so many ways. Wonder how it links into Pokemon, and if it links at all to the legendary Pokemon? Maybe they think fairy Pokemon grant monetary wishes

I saw Dark/Flying as Yveltal's type coming, like 5 months ago. Yveltal's signature move (Death Wing) sounds cool, but I have a feeling it'll be toned down to something else in the English version, like Dark Wing or Night Wing.

I was surprised when I learned that Xerneas was a pure Fairy; it doesn't even look the part, other than its antlers.

Regarding the 5 new Pokemon, I like Koronda the best out of them. I also can't help but wonder why the squids aren't Water type.

I think the evil team may simply be common thieves, well at first. They may develop into a more Rocketesk sort of plot, selling Pokémon as they learn it's profitable. Sort of how Magma Aqua, and Galactic (and Plasma in B2W2...where that's what they are practically)when you first meet them seem to look like common thieves. Maybe they could be based on an evil corperation? Pokémon did Peta in BW, why not Monsanto for XY?

Too bad Pancham evo just look like the two other bear evo but in panda version, would prefered something a bit different.

Seems the first version gets the better Pokémon once again... BW was the exception, but I got Black because of Reshiram and the non-Unova exclusives (Weedle, Shroomish, Murkrow, Houndour).

Yveltal's typing is nice but Dark/Flying is a boring combination, there are already two fully evolved Pokémon with such combination (Honchkrow and Mandibuzz) and one Dark-type legendary (Darkrai), while Xerneas is, for now, the only Fairy-type legendary, most probably created because of all the Dragon-type ubers. Would be awesome if Xerneas was Steel/Fairy, though, because, if Fairy resists Dragon, then it would be perfect to wall Dragon-type attacks.

Yveltal's Death Wing move will probably be renamed owing to the dumbing-down the American market requires. Anyway, names don't mean a move is going to be good! Giratina's Shadow Force is a great example.

The panda and the squid (especially the squid! looks like a wizard) look cool. Dark/Psychic is a bad defensive type (no resistances apart from Psychic immunity) but is a reasonably good offensive type, because Dark and Psychic coverage isn't redundant. The panda should be a bulkier, slower version of Scrafty, with different moves. Overlooked fact: the squid learns Hypnosis.

The only use for the candy cotton Pokémon is, obviously, box fodder.

Xerneas' typing comes as no surprise to me, considering his apparent namesake and other things I've read with similar characters. Fairies are badass yo.

Team Flare? Team Flair? I'd like Team Flair, but I wouldn't mind a stylin' group with fire. It'd be more fun to have fire and fairies though. Then again if fairies have a 1/2 effectiveness on themselves, that would probably put people off of using them in game. So idk.

My main focus was on the professor though haha. He's a cutie. Pretty young, too. Bulba gave his name as Plantae, so I looked that up and found some related European cultural history. I wonder if he's going to have a focus on medicine, considering that?
