A Tale of Heroes

The Legend
*Not required to completely understand this Legend

Man has forever sought to seek more power. Since the beginning of mankind, there are those who follow, and those who lead. There was once a King named Arzun. His majesty ruled with an iron fist, separating society into an upper, middle and lower class. Increasing taxes, slavery of the poor, were just some of the methods he used to increase his power in the world. Limiting the teaching of magic to only those who could afford it, Arzun was able to create the country to his liking.

"Your highness, does nothing satisfy you? Even Royals in other countries envy you." A man asked. Arzun did not understand the meaning of the question. If there was still more power to be sought, then why would he not try to obtain it?

"Tell me…if we were at war, then would other countries hesitate to attack?" The King asked the man. The man didn't reply. "Of course not. They don't fear us. At least not yet." The King said. With that in mind, the King had an idea. What he needed was something to show that they were not to be messed with. Stricter laws would indeed enforce his power over the people, but that didn't help him with facing other countries.

"What do we need to be feared?" The man asked curiously. The King looked at the man, and gave a malicious smile. The King's intentions were to keep a weapon, capable of destroying entire armies.

"We need a Dragon." Yes, the King's idea was to capture the very essence of fear itself within nature. The man was shocked. Dragons were the rarest of beasts. Many people spend their entire lives without ever finding the elusive creature, let alone capture it. "We leave tonight." With that said, the King and his finest men packed their bags and headed to the wilderness.

~

After a month of travelling, the gruelling sun was beating down on the men and their bodies were taking a toll. Out of the fifty, twenty men were gone. Some done in by wild animals, others suffering from natural causes. "Your highness…we need to go back. The more we stay out, the more men we will lose." The man said, throat dry. The King hesitated, looking in front of them.

"This is it. It has to be. The Dragon's Nest". The men stared into a pit filled with webs and the stench of rotting flesh. Carcasses were scattered about, torn limb by limb. Without word, the men climbed down the pit, eventually retreating from the surface of the upper world down to the foreign cave. "We're almost there." The men reached the bottom of the pit, with a loud growl rushing through the caverns bringing along a lingering odor.

"I think…that's the-" The man was cut off, as a loud screech hissed through the cave, enough to make a man's ear bleed. They were soon faced with a pair of red eyes, glowing within the darkness of the caverns.

Current Events

Location: Continent of Aras | Country: Salos

The World has entered the Third Era. Currently in the midst of a Civil War between the regions of Kale and Grandora, Salos is not exactly the most stable country. Diaz, the King of Grandora has begun his reign of terror on the country. In an effort to attain more power, he has taken control of Kale's regions to create his own empire, creating his new title of Emperor Diaz. His actions have caused many rebellion groups to arise within the nation, trying to put an end to his takeovers. The aftermath of many battles have left places desolated, slums even. Although there are still many 'neutral zones', or rather places that have not been affected by the war, travellers should be weary of venturing into dangerous territory.

Along with the creation of rebellion groups, several industries have been booming. The mining industry has brought in money for thousands of businessman, with people looking for jobs after losing their previous ones. Farms have been doing slightly more poor in the country ever since the start of the war, with less crops being available with each passing year the war goes on. However, a lot of criminal and gang activity has been reported around the country, filled with people who instead of working, steal, kill and do other criminal activities for money. Diaz however, is one step ahead of them.

One of Diaz's most famous plans, is implementing the Galvez Prison facility for criminals, murderers, as well as rebellion groups and those who oppose Diaz's ideals. The prison is a hell-on earth located in the mountains North-West of Kale. Although nobody is sure what goes on in there, it's evident the prisoners are somehow dealt with, seeing as how nobody has ever come out. Under constant watch, nobody can get in either without permission or approval of access. Now only time can tell how this war will be played out, and how it ends.

The RP Itself
headertitle_zpsbea6905c.jpg

So then, welcome to revamp of 'A Tale of Heroes', now with fancy CSS! We didn't get very far last time, so let's make it to the end this time, I really want to see this RP completed. This RP is going to be a nice, long RP, with lots of interactions. In fact, I will have to split it up into multiple parts, because the storyline is going to change suddenly, and the because there will be so much going on. Part one is going to be called: Reign of Diaz. So, once this is completed, expect sequels. But don't worry, the first part itself will be as long as a regular RP (hopefully it will last that long, trust me it gets tense near the end). This is not sandbox, although there will be many times where you will be able to wander around a town and whatnot, hang out with other characters, eat, etc. For the majority of this RP, we will be travelling as a group. Also, a little side note. If you want to create a side arc let me know and we'll sort something out.

The Setting & Your Character

First off, this is an original RP, which means it's not an existing franchise. The time period is not exact (there will be times when it will be slightly more outdated/rustic, and times when it will be slightly more modern.), but I guess the closest I can say would be Skyrim-esque, maybe even SAO-esque as well(or some other fantasy-style RPG/JRPG if you can think of one, like Final Fantasy), but slightly more 'updated'. For example, some guns are allowed as weapons in this RP, as long as they make sense, and it isn't a machine gun or something (make sure you go by me first before making a gun, this is an absolute MUST). Also, instead of actual bullets, the guns will be using the user's mana as ammo. Swords and bows and whatnot are okay as well. World-wise, I have made a map of the country, which will be updated as the RP progresses.

At the start of the RP, the characters will currently be already in Galvez Prison for whatever reason that may be. You don't have to explain this in your character history, but you can if you wish. It will be there that we all meet and greet and find a way out of the prison. The story builds onwards from there, and falls a lot on the shoulders of the characters. Your character should be affected by the war somehow (doesn't have to that major). They shouldn't be too experienced with fighting or using magic, as there is plenty of time to do that throughout the RP.

Note: If you are wondering what the legend has to do with the RP, it is there because there will be several references to it throughout the RP, and plays a huge role later on. Your character doesn't have to be familiar with the legend at all.

Elements

There are seven elements in total. Elements are essentially the type of an individual's attacks and magic. Everyone has an element, although not all can use magic (your characters will be able to use magic). Magic of someone's own element will be stronger. However, some of your other magic of a different element may be weaker and harder to learn. Essentially magic of your element is easier to learn, and magic of resisting element is harder. Here are the elements:

elemental_chart_by_pokecasthq-d6xmmn7.png

Fire: Is good against Lightning/ Weak against Water
Water: Is good against Fire/Weak against Lightning
Wind: Is good against Earth/ Weak against Earth
Earth: Is good against Wind/Weak against Wind
Lightning: Is good against Water/Weak against Fire
Light: is good against Dark/Weak against Dark
Dark: Is good against Light/Weak against Light

Magic

What's an RPG without magic? Magic has many uses rather than just attacking. The amount of magic spells created is nearly limitless. Magic can be learned by either practicing, learned from others, or created by one's self through extensive research and trial and error. They can range from simple attacks, healing spells, shields, etc. Mana is the energy needed to perform Magic. The amount of Mana depends on the person. Some people naturally have larger reserves of Mana, and others do not. The main way of increasing Mana is through training, frequency of usage, and the most common way is just by waiting, as time naturally lets your body increase reserves of mana. There are also items that may increase mana reserves or regeneration.

Note: Any sort of magic regarding the usage of bringing back the dead is off limits. Healing magic is mainly going to be within the elements of Water or Light, but if you can provide a good reason for it being of a different element go ahead.

Rules:

  • All forum rules apply
  • No bunnying/God-modding. Please, just don't do it. If you don't know what that means let me know.
  • Please post as frequently as you can. This is one of those RPs that is fun if you keep up.
  • If you plan being away for a while, please let me know ahead of time. I cannot stress this enough.
  • Swearing is allowed since this is rated 'M'. Please don't abuse this.
  • Romance/Sexual stuff I have no problems with, as long as you are not too explicit. Make sure you're not writing a new fifty shades of grey.
  • Seeing as how this is rated 'M', expect blood. It probably won't be to the extent of horror movies or anything, but expect violence.
  • Please be realistic when there is fighting. I know there's magic and whatnot, so that doesn't really apply, but if your character gets punched in the face, act like they actually did get punched rather than take it like it was nothing.

Map of Salos (Click Here for Bigger Version):

Sign-Up Sheet:

Gender: (M or F)

Element: (Pick one of the elements above as your character's natural affinity).

Appearance: (A good description or pic of the character. Make sure they're human. Although some mythical creatures exist in this world, no orcs or elves of the sorts or making up your own race are allowed as your character in this RP. Not trying to be racist, but it's just a rule I have. Also, no pre-existing characters such as movie, TV or anime characters. Your character must be original. Also, any armour the character has, is stripped upon entering the prison at the start of the RP, but don't worry, they can get new armour when we get out, if you want.)

Personality: (Their personality? How do they act? Do they get along well with others? Try to be descriptive please.)

Hometown: (Where are they from? Make up a place, and give a location. Make sure it is not in another country, unless they moved here.)

History: (A brief history of your character. Seriously, you don't have to go too in-depth here. We mainly just want to see how they live/what they do, did the war affect them in any way, where are they from, are they rich/poor, etc. Feel free to make up towns/cities for them. We may even be able to visit them during the RP. So pretty much a paragraph should suffice.)

Weapon: (What weapon will they be using? I'm going to tell you right now, your character has been stripped of ALL weapons upon entering the prison. This means any weapons they had previously, will be unobtainable even after getting out of the prison.)

Magic: (Their current list of magic + element of each spell. Only a maximum of three, and please remember that your characters should be sort of inexperienced with using magic so don't overdo it. There will be plenty of time for improvement throughout the RP. It is not possible for someone to know magic belonging to more than 2 Elements. It is possible to learn three, although it is incredibly rare for someone to know three.)

Other: (Anything else we should know about?)

Now, where have I seen this RP before? :P

Name: Timothy "Tim" Wolfe

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Element: Water

Appearance:

Tim is somewhat short for a young man his age, standing at exactly 5'4". It doesn't bother him much, unless someone bullies him for it. Despite seeming weak and fragile, he is actually stronger than he looks. He has an athletic build and is physically fit due to having lived in a small island all of his life, and spending a lot of time running around outside. He spends a good amount of time in the sun so his skin is lightly tanned as a result, not pale but not bronzed either. He has messy black hair on top of his head, and his bangs go to his eyebrows. He has big brown eyes, a small nose, and a round "Babyface", which give him a youthful appearance. His face is clean-shaven, and his upper body is free of any hair except the top of his head and eyebrows.

Tim's clothes tend to vary, but he usually wears what is comfortable. He has taken to wearing robes to signify that he is a mage. His usual outfit is a short sleeved, collared white robe. The trim on the bottom, and sleeves of the robe are light blue. It is held in place by a light blue belt at the waist. Underneath this, he wears a simple white undershirt. On his legs he wears white leggings that keep them warm in the cold, but are still comfortable to wear when the temperature is warmer. On his feet are a pair of knee-high white boots with one blue belt wrapped around each of them. A pair of white gloves with blue trims cover his arms up to his elbows. He keeps things in a light blue messenger bag.

Personality: Tim is a shy and quiet individual by nature. He was always this way, and being bullied as a kid didn't help. He is very sensitive, and he fears being bullied. He usually speaks with a quiet voice, and occasionally a stutter when he's nervous. He also becomes very apologetic when someone shows any hint of being upset. He has a thing for animals, and he usually prefers being with animals than with people. Animals will listen without judgement, and only expect a little kindness in return. He is gentle and softspoken, which seems to be the reason why he has such an easy time with animals. He gets scared easily, his worst phobia being stage fright. He gets really nervous when having to speak or perform in front of an audience. He really wants to be the brave, but it's harder than it looks.

Despite being shy, he is by no means antisocial. If you talk to him, you'll find he's quite friendly, and polite. He can laugh and make jokes like any other kid. He is always happy to have to new friends, because his shyness makes it difficult to make them. He is very affectionate and loyal to those he likes. He hates it when people are angry around him, so he tries his best to keep the peace. In conversations, he is usually more of a listener than a talker, and he has no problems being a sounding board when someone wants to vent (As long as they don't hurt him.) Tim is very kind to others, often to a fault. He is very trusting of people, and is willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Tim is usually very difficult to anger, and is very quick to forgive someone when he does get mad. However, during the times when he is not in a good mood, he can be quite scary if you do catch him at a bad moment. He doesn't want to burden others with his problems, and he fears being made fun of, so he keeps them to himself. This causes him personal frustration. When it gets to be too much, he'll lash out at the target, and let out his pent up rage. He dislikes bullying (towards himself or others,) as well as people being needlessly cruel to animals. Doing one of those things is the best way to get him upset.

Tim is very careful and calculating. He always thinks before he speaks, and prefers not to wrecklessly jump into danger. However, due to his insecurity he is often uncertain if the choices he makes are the right ones. He can easily be convinced to change his mind. This leaves him with some anger when the plan fails and he knew his original idea would have worked. He also doesn't like violence all that much, having been a victim of it most of his life. Although he doesn't look like it, Tim has a big appetite. He likes eating many different kinds of foods, and has the cooking skills to match.

Hometown: Soluna Island. A small tropical island within Salos. Currently infested with Diaz's soldiers.

History: Tim was born in on a tropical island, to a pair of mages. Tim's parents weren't rich, but they did all they could to give their son a good life, and give him every advantage. While they expressed having high hopes for their son's success, they tried not to put too much pressure on the boy. For the most part, his life was normal. Tim was often a target of bullying because of his shyness, tendency to get scared easily, and because he was clumsy. No matter what he did to get them to stop it, it always failed or they found something else to give him crap about. It gave him self-esteem issues, resulting in him becoming even more timid. As a result, he had very few friends growing up. He didn't tell anyone about the bullying, lest it become worse. He saw other kids get beaten up much worse after they snitched, and he didn't want that to happen. So he kept it all inside and let his resentment build.

From an early age, he always had a special talent for caring for animals. They seem to be fond of him due to his softspoken nature. He often finds sick, or injured animals and cares for, plays with, and feeds them when no one else will. Around animals, Tim felt much more like himself. He found relief from the stresses of life, and he's found they are the best friends he could ask for. He always knew he wanted to do something with animals when he gets older. He just wasn't sure what.

At the age of ten, Tim finally showed signs of having magical potential. When a stream of Ice that seemed to come from nowhere froze a bully's feet to the floor, after he stuck his foot out and caused Tim to trip, then teased him about his clumsiness. Tim giggled at that, which caused the bully to think Tim was to blame, and so he punched the boy in the face, resulting in a black eye. While his parents were concerned about his injury, they were thrilled at the confirmation that their son was had inherited their magical skills.

Since that day, Tim had multiple incidents of accidentally freezing things. While he never actually hurt anyone, it made Tim nervous that he possibly could, and the fact that Tim had strange powers caused the other kids to bully him more. He started wearing gloves, and did his best to keep his powers to himself. It was when Tim turned thirteen, his parents felt he was ready to learn magic. He was taught by various scholars in the area. He spent many years studying, and practicing his techniques. He realized quickly that he preferred being a mage and using magic to help others rather than fighting the way a warrior does. Tim did well with his studies and showed great potential. He had taken a liking to the healing spells, and became good at casting them. However, although the bullying had stopped, he didn't really talk to any of the other students because of his experiences when he was younger.

After he completed his training, Tim went off to practice his magic by himself. For a while he was perfectly content being alone with the wild animals that inhabited the area, at least for a while. The peace was ruined by the war when soldiers invaded the island, and Tim was taken prisoner. He has no idea what happened to his parents, but he hopes they managed to get away.

Weapon: A simple staff, used for channeling his magic. He can also use a bow, but generally prefers staffs.

Magic

Ice shield: (Water) Tim can freeze an amount of moisture in front of himself, or someone else to create a shield of Ice.

Freeze: (Water) Tim can send a ray of Ice at a target to freeze them. This is mostly used to bind enemies feet so they won't move.

Healing: (Water) Tim can heal wounds and ailments by directing mana through the body, using water as a catalyst.

Gretis! Gretis! Gretis! Please reserve me, dawg!

Name: Shrek Stendarr

Age: 22

Gender: Male

Element: Earth

Appearance:
Spoiler:

Shrek is a shorter, stocky man, standing at 5'9 and weighing about 230 pounds, almost all of it muscle. His body is scarred and callused from years of training in the wilderness. His muscular form is quite bulky, but he is still quite agile all the same. His years of training have given him a natural sort of flexibility, stamina, and strength. He wears no shoes, and has not worn any for years, causing his feet to become hard and callused like leather. New bandages are wrapped around his hands almost daily to cover wounds and such that occur almost every day. His long brown hair falls in a wave along his angular head, framing his gristly chin and dark brown eyes quite well.

In terms of apparel, Shrek wears little to nothing. He dons short brown shorts with dragons emblazoned on them with their accompanying swirls of air and such. These shorts are not very warm, but Shrek's natural resistance to cold negates the need for extreme winter clothing. His upper body is normally cloaked by a brown hooded vest of sorts. He normally keeps the vest undone, although it can be zipped to cover his abdomen.

Shrek carries his handy dandy backpack everywhere he goes, no matter how odd it would look. His backpack contains all sorts of things that would be necessary for survival in the wilderness: Salves, cookware, his sleeping roll, spare vests and shorts, bandages, and the like. He also has a place where he puts anything interesting that he finds on his travels, usually things like oddly shaped rocks or talismans of sorts.

Personality: Shrek is essentially a child trapped in a hardened monk's body. He is overly curious, naive, and is amazed by the little things. Shrek raised himself in the middle of a forest, and therefore had no parent to guide and raise him to know what's "immature" or "stupid." He's had little to no formal education, and therefore knows nothing of science and math, and cannot read or write, except for his name, which he is highly skilled at. Shrek DOES know when one should be serious, and can be very serious indeed. He is cautious when it comes to meeting new people, and reluctantly gives them information on himself, but once you have earned his trust he will follow you to the ends of the Earth, almost literally. His child-like innocence is almost uncorrupted, except for the necessary need to fight being emblazoned on his heart. He believes that everyone is truly good inside and thinks that as long as he is nice to people they'll be nice back.

Shrek loves many things: Trees, food (meat in particular), animals, music of any form, funny looking rocks, the color brown...The list goes on forever, but Shrek loves nothing more than peace. Growing up in the cruel, bitter wilderness has a strangely pacifying effect on someone. Shrek has learned to live peacefully with animals, barter with travelers, and maintain the forest's balance and ecosystem without harming anything. He detests fighting, but he knows that it is necessary to survive and thrive in this world. He has learned to defend himself through martial arts over the years, and uses it sparingly, but when he does use it he goes to disarm and incapacitate, and almost never to kill. Killing would be taking an unnecessary life, and Shrek is all about necessity. He never takes what isn't needed.

Hometown: Shrek was born in a small village that was built in the center of a massive forest to the west of Grandora. The village never had a name, but it was known to be a location for pilgrims that journeyed to the village's temple to find inner peace, and perhaps a purpose in life.

History: Shrek was born in a small village in the middle of a massive forest. The town never had a name, but Shrek just refers to it as "Home." The town had a small population, around fifty or so, so the setting was sort of like a family group. Shrek's parents were both carpenters and alchemists, so they would constantly journey into the forest, with Shrek right behind them. Shrek instantly fell in love with nature, much to his parents excitement, and spent the majority of his childhood exploring and playing with the other children. He sort of drifted away from his parents, and didn't see them very much solely because he was off playing. He loved his parents very much, but he loved nature even more.

When he came of age, his parents took him into the village's temple to speak with the elders. The elders were wise, old men that had the ability to ascertain the path one's life would take that would lead to the good of the realm. When brought to the elders, Shrek was curious about the course his life would take. The chief looked over the boy for several moments before he spoke Shrek's destiny. "This boy is meant to leave here very soon," The room was filled with quiet gasps. "He...He is destined for greatness, I assure you." A wide grin broke across Shrek's face. "He is meant to bring peace to the land...To aid a cast of heroes in battle, and cast down the tyrant." Shrek's parents were thrilled with their son's destiny. Not many parents could say that their son would cast down tyranny!

Shrek, on the other hand, was not as enthusiastic. He loved his home, his family, his village. He didn't want to fight. Fighting would only lead to people being hurt. In a blur of emotion, he fled to his favorite hiding spot in the forest. Along the way, he felt a voice calling to him from deeper in the trees. Eager to find the voice, he followed the sound to its source: A deer. Although shocked that the deer was talking, Shrek was even more confused about why it had been talking to him. It uttered the words, "Shrek, you must train yourself. If you are to protect the forest you love so dear, you must learn to fight, and fight well. The tyrant is coming." With that, it bounded away. Taken with the new desire to protect his forest, Shrek complied.

He spent the next eight years training himself, his mind, and his body. Along the way he found that he had synced himself with the land so much that he could manipulate it through magic. He was camping near the edge of the woods one day when a small group of strange men, clad in iron armor, came upon him. They demanded that he tell them who he was, and why he was encroaching upon "His Majesty's" land. After he refused to answer, they attacked him. Shrek fought back as fiercely as he could, taking down several of them before they managed to defeat him. Instead of killing him instantly, they took him prisoner and carted him off to who-knows-where.

Weapon: Shrek fights with his body, and his body only. He is a skilled martial artist, and although he isn't the best, he can go toe-to-toe with most weaponmasters. His physical strength, flexibility, and stamina are quite above the average human's. His skills are mainly directed to defensive maneuvers, evasion, and disarming though. Shrek is skilled at healing minor wounds and curing poisons when he has his backpack's store of herbs and such.

Magic:

Earth Wall: (Earth) Shrek stomps the earth to conjure an earthen wall, usually dirt, mud, or stone. The size of the wall depends on the amount of mana used.

Terra Fists/Feet: (Earth) Shrek touches his fists and, or feet to the ground and they are encased in hard stone. The stone is pretty durable, and can block things pretty well, but it can only be maintained through a steady supply of mana.

Ground Pound: (Earth) Shrek punches the ground, causing a shockwave of varying sizes to ripple throughout the surrounding area. These shockwaves can range from minor tremors, to massive earthquakes, depending on the amount of mana used, although the latter consumes a life-threatening amount of mana.

Other: Shrek is quite good at playing the wooden flute he has in his backpack.

Nel Aden

Age:
19

Gender:
Female

Element:
Fire

Appearance:
Nel stands at a height of about 5'6" with a slightly toned body build. Her body is accentuated with curves in all the right places, making her a sight that's quite easy on the eyes. Her long hair easily reaches down past the low of her back. She wears it rather messily on top, giving it what appears to be spiked look and she keeps her bangs covering her right eye at almost all times. Speaking of eyes, they are an enticing shade of blue, with a small tint of green to them. Nel sports a rather healthy skin complexion, neither being too pale or too tan.

In terms of clothing, Nel tends to dress on the... lighter side, so to speak. Her favorite outfit by far appears to be a pair of rather snug shorts that are maroon in color, and accentuated by a black and yellow belt of sorts. The shorts have some yellow trim around the bottom of the legs. A brown, form-fitting, sleeveless top is worn across her chest. It is generally short in size, leaving Nel's long and lean torso exposed for all to see. Like her shorts, there is some yellow lining around the bottom of the top. A shot, sleeveless jacket is usually worn with this top, matching in the style and colors of the top beneath it. It does have a slightly higher collar, however. A pair of brown, knee-high, leather boots are generally worn on her feet, with yellow lining around the tops. A pair of red-lens goggles always rests around her neck.

Personality:
Nel is a hot-headed and some what spoiled child. Being the daughter of the leader of a band of thieves has led the girl to having somewhat of a superiority complex, often looking down on those who she feels are not of equal standing to her level of social status... which includes most people that she ever meets. Quick to anger and even quicker to retaliate, Nel is one who often jumps into action without really ever thinking over what the consequences to her decisions might be. If she is ever to be found remotely blamable for something going wrong, she is quick to try and place the blame on someone or something else. She has a habit of always making sure to get her own way about things, and is not above bending the truth to make this happen. The only thing that she seems to care about more than herself is money.

Hometown:
While not actually a town, Nel was born and raised within the Giospy Forest, a long and flourshing forest located along the north-eastern edge of the Kale region. Within the forest there is a hidden guild of thieves who make their home in what more or less resembles a tree-top village of sorts. This group of thieves, known as the Giospy Clan, has made their home there for years.

History:
Nel was born and raised inside the Giospy Forest, a forest which lays in the northeastern corners of the Kale Region. It is in this forest that a group of well known theives, known as the Giospy Clan, makes their homes. Rather than live on the forest floor however, the clan made their homes in a suspension-like village up in the treetops.

Nel herself was born with the rather prestigious honor of being the clan leader's daughter. Because of this, she was always treated a bit different when growing up. Unlike other children her age, Nel lived a rather sheltered life. She more or less always got whatever she wanted, when she wanted it. All the members of the clan always treated her with the utmost respect and constant kid-gloves.

It is because of this reason that Nel began to develop a somewhat spoiled personality as she grew older. She became used to this treatment and the feeling that she deserved whatever she wanted, when she wanted it. That's why the one thing the girl could not figure out for the life of her is why she was not allowed to ever actually leave the settlement.

The process confused Nel. She was so used to always getting what she wanted, that she had never really been forced to hear an answer of no. Even when her father explained it was to keep her safe as the future leader of the clan, Nel still demanded that she be allowed to leave. Eventually, the man would give her her wish.

Nel would be placed in charge of her own group of thieves, in an attempt to steal something of importance from a traveling caravan belonging to Emperor Diaz. The mission would unfortunately end in total disaster. All of the thieves who accompanied Nel were wiped out, while the girl herself was sent off for an extended stay in Galvez Prison.

Weapon:
Nel prefers to fight with the aid long-range weaponry. Her natural weapon of choice is through means of a crossbow. However, she puts a unique spin on this fighting style. Attached to each of her wrists is a crossbow-like device. There is a small trigger-like button on each of the crossbows, allowing her to shoot them with ease. Because loading the crossbows with actual arrows from a quiver could be time consuming and ineffective, Nel uses her own mana energy to form the arrows.

Magic:

Burning Spirit - Nel ignites a burning spirit within the body of a nearby comrade. This rush of energy increases the person's strength for a short bit of time, allowing them to attack much harder. Clearly it is more useful for those who fight at a close-range and use might a might over magic sort of tactic.

Spiral Flare - Nel shoots forth a spiraling blast of fire from one of her crossbows. She is able to adjust the power and size of the shot based on how much mana she consumes to do this.

Phoenix Shot - Focusing a great deal of her mana, Nel unleashes a powerful, flaming shot from her crossbows at the same time. Because of how much mana this spell consumes, it can be dangerous for her to use it in a repeated fashion. It also takes her a great deal of focus to properly unleash, so Nel requires constant protection if utilizing the spell. When unleashed, the burst of energy resembles that of a soaring bird.

Yes yes yes you are all reserved. I think I'm only going to accept one more player and cap us off at 7 players. If more people want to join, then I may increase cap.

I- Ngh, I know I'm already in several RPs, but this seems... really, really good. Jegretis! If I were to join, I think I'd love to have a character who mainly uses a rifle. Like a good ol' western-esque rifle, since I don't know the real names of them :P Kinda like the idea of a bolt-action one, in the idea that it only shoots one 'bullet' at a time. Would the gun shoot bullets if it's powered by mana?

In either case, if I can have a rifle then reserve me a spot! If not... damnit. I might ask you to reserve it anyway, but we'll see XD

EDIT: Here you go, this is kind of what I thought of:

@Sir Bastion: You are reserved. Also, the gun would be using your character's mana as a bullet. As in, the bullet is made out of mana.

@Judge Shepard: If you want, I can increase cap by one more and reserve you.

Ah, I gotcha :D Alright, I'll get to work on an SU ASAP!

EDIT: Actually, I've been thinking about it for a few hours, and I just can't get a hold of a personality/Character concept I like, so I'm afraid that before I've even gotten in, I'm gonna have to drop out. Sorry Jegretis! Hope you guys have a blast anyways :D

Name: Lucifer Otensia
Age: 20
Gender: M
Element: Dark

Appearance: Hair that is a very strange bone white and eyes of crimson red, and pale complexion to boot, one could say he was a Vampire but he's not. Lucifer stands at a somewhat average height of 5'9 but only weighs in at about 150 lbs leaving him quite skinny. Don't let his small form belay his physical strength as he is quite possibly absurdly strong and durable enough to even step on glass and not get cut due to certain happenings. His face lacks baby fat and usually has a childish grin that belays the madness in his eyes. He personally prefers rather loose shirts with large sleeves and baggy pants but enjoys being barefoot. If he does wear foot wear it's usually something like wooden sandals but he almost always has his white vest that has an image of a cherry blossoms on it.

Personality: Lucifer personality is best explained as joyful chaos. While he can get along with anyone as long as they interest him his strangeness usually makes people weary and frightened. He is very sporadic and takes great joy in things that interest him but may be quick to drop it for something else due to boredom. He is a seemingly very happy individual but in the strangest of ways. He wouldn't mind watching the world burn around him and would probably be the cause of it just for hilarity's sake. Lucifer is very hard to get a read on due to his nature but generally works toward the greater good at least if he feels the inclination to do so.

Hometown: Telos Village, a small village located deep in the forests of Salos. No longer exists.

History: Lucifer is a strange boy in the fact that no one knows exactly where he came from he suddenly just popped up one day without a trace. His surrogate Mother Elie found him simply wandering one day throughout the forest with a blank look in his eyes. She resolved to take him in as no child should have such eyes and for sometime he was happy with the one he came to call Mother. They were neither rich nor poor and were well off as long as they did not break their bank. However as humans are afraid of what they fear, and for some reason they feared him, he was ostracized.

Lucifer didn't know and simply as a child was bewildered and confused by why they treated him as if he was a monster. His Mother reassured him that everything would be fine and he believed her...their happiness was not to last. Many of nights he could hear his Mother cry but she, when questioned, simply said she was fine. He tried to believe her but this belief was shattered a few nights later. As he slept his mother bust into his room with a frantic yet psychotic look. His instincts told him to run but he didn't and tried to ask what was wrong.

It ended badly and he was savagely beaten until something clicked and his eyes turned from their pristine blue to the crimson red they are now and he began to giggle uncontrollably as the world seemed to fade away around him. Many things happened that night and so after that his life became much funner as insanity followed him as his friend pilfering money from others along the way. Many years passed and while he gained many helpful skills and didn't become completely bloodthirsty he allowed himself to be taken to a Prison due to thinking it would be fun.

Weapon: Dirks/Daggers (If possible he would dual wield pistols with revolver type barrels.)

Magic:

Illumna (Dark) - Minor blasts of dark energy that while causing some minor physical damage due to speed and force they mainly contain an aspect of sickness which causes the body to act as if it is sick, while it can be healed somewhat the effects don't go away completely and have to be waited out. The effects last usually for a day or so and can range from things like sluggishness, dizziness, minute to major fevers, etc; The amount of energy used is proportionate to the effect.

Seraph (Dark) - Tendrils of darkness energy that while having little fighting capability allows Lucifer great mobility due to the ability for them to latch onto solid surfaces and pull him in or retract to grab things. However as they can not latch onto living substance it makes them lose most combat capability. Is mainly used to move/traverse to destinations much easier.

Ovan (Dark) - A simple orb of dark energy that inflicts physical damage upon contact, if other elements are added to it, it has the possibility of gaining a side effect. While contact damage is its main usage he has learned to alter them ever so slightly to have a draining effect that passively heals him. Altered version is much more mana extensive and while used somewhat often it does have a limit before it becomes too much.

Other: Is a massive tease and has many talents in common day things such as cooking.

Okey dokey lets get to it.

@Challenger: you are accepted!

@Alby: you are also accepted!

Game Bringer: Nice to see you again. You are also accepted.

I guess now we wait for Lacangel and Genesis and then we good to go. I'll write up the IC and then post here on what to do. If you got any questions just holler. If you want to make any changes to your character such as names or magic or something run it by first and make sure you do it before we start.

Name: Trace Leon

Age: 23

Gender: M

Element: Affinity for: Earth / Secondary: Light

Appearance: Trance stands at about 6'2 with a slim but athletic build and weighs 215 lbs. He has long somewhat spikey white hair, which some people give him a hard time about and joke around saying that he's already aged. He has dark skin and very mystifying red eyes. He wears an olive green hooded cape that drapes over his shoulders in the front. The wears a slightly lighter color green shirt though it may be a super light brown (colors don't really matter). He has a long flowing red sash tied around his waist.

Personality: Trace can first come off as cocky and egotistical, but he soon quickly warms up to people and tries to befriend strangers. He likes to flaunt his skills as a superior, but is respectful to those more powerful than him. He is a loyal and trusting friend, with a generally cheerful and dramatic personality, and he confidently voices his opinions. If anything bad is said about him he often takes it way to personally and starts an argument with the person. Despite this when in trouble Trace is one of the brightest and most intelligent minds around, though more so because he inherited that trait from both his parents who are scientists and doctors, than because of his own personality. Due to this when Trace loses his cool or has something he can't solve he gets frustrated and becomes very irrational and very bashfull.

Hometown: Town: Unknown / Region: Sultan / Country: Kale

History: Trace does not know exactly where he was born. He knows he grew up in a decent sized city until his parents were called to help with the war as doctors and to create new technology for the war when trace was just 6 years old. After his parents left, Trace stayed with a couple of relatives that lived just a few miles away. Trace was not the angel child as he was when he was with his parents. Trace used his cunning smarts to often sneak out of the house and steal food and random objects he would find in the market, usually small shiny things. Then one day when trace was 14 his world fell apart as the war came through his city and left nothing standing.
Luckily for Trace he was hiding underneath one of the market tables after just stealing an apple. Trace sat there in silence and as soon as he heard the fighting begin he made his escape into the woods. Along the way he picked up a bow and arrows. From that day on Trace was alone living on his own survival instinct stealing and hunting becoming a master archer. Seeing so much death may have caused a person to go crazy but somehow Trace was able to stay strong and let it make him stronger.

Weapon: His weapon of choice is any sort of Bow , but since he had a trust walking stick to carry through his wondering he does have the ability to fight with Staves.

Magic:
Vita Flores [Earth]: Trace after saying the name of this spell summons a patch of flowers at a target location. These flowers are no ordinary flowers the pollen these flowers give off when walked through have the ability to heal wounds anywhere on the body. Trace has also figured out that with his will he can convey these flowers to give off poisonus pollen. Trace has not mastered how to make these flowers give off poison since their natural affinity is to heal so it consumes a large amount of mana, and on top of that it's hit or miss right now if the flowers actually give off the poison

Arma Vita Flores [Earth]: Trace after saying the name of this spells summons a dome of vines around the target location. These vines are espically hard and thick with magical flowers that appear only on the inside. Trace has not mastered the ability to manipulate all the flowers that are inside the dome but as of right now he has noticed that the same flowers that are in his 1st spell are inside allowing him to heal or poison as well as another flower that seems to drain the strength out of an enemy.

Lux Mimicus: Trace is able to create a copy of anything he wants by reflecting light particles off the object he wants to clone. Right now this takes up a vast amount of mana to keep up and he can only hold it for about 15-20 seconds at full movement to keep the clone looking real and imbuing it with magic allowing it to move and be able to physically touch. Once after that time limit you can start to see through the clone and tell it's just a hologram.

Other: (Anything else we should know about?)
