Look at all of these... games?

If June was barren, July must be dead. Aside, from Crown of the Sunken King, I'm literally not anticipating anything this month.

Hm, there's nothing really noteworthy for either the PS3 or PS4 coming this month \: I might consider getting the remastered version of TLOU even though we already have it, but that game is beyond amazing. And I've never laid eyes on Abyss Odyssey so I'll see what that one's about.

    Crying for two reasons.

    1. Child of Light on Vita and not 3DS. I've been DYING to play that.

    2. Naughty Dog what are you doing where is Jak 4

(#2 isn't saying much though, I'm constantly crying over that.)

Although I haven't seen the anime in a while, I'm a huge One Piece fan, and am really looking forward to its video game. Looks like it'll be available for Wii U, which's great; definitely going to give it a shot. If I can't buy this one, then I'll be getting 3DS version. Also pretty excited about Invasion DLC for Call of Duty; have been getting a little bored of it, so this might be able to spice things up. Aside from these two, there doesn't seem to much else in-store this month, sadly. Child of Light seems fun, but unfortunately, I don't have PS Vita.

    • EA announces that they will delay Battlefield: Hardlines into next year. Following the performance made at E3 and the beta, DICE VP Karl Magnus explains:
      Karl Magnus said:
"[Beta] feedback also spurred us to start thinking about other possibilities and ways we could push Hardline innovation further and make the game better. The more we thought about these ideas, the more we knew we had to get them into the game you will all be playing. However there was only one problem. We would need more time."
Beliefs are made that by doing this, EA will be able to not make the same mistakes that they did with Battlefield 4, in which DLC was put to a shocking halt so they could fix all the bugs that came with the game at launch. The game is now expected to come out in early 2015, and another beta is expected to come out similar to the June one.
    • EA is also delaying Dragon Age: Inquisition from it's October release to November 18th in North America and November 21st in Europe. Bioware Executive Producer Mike Darrah explains:
      Mike Darrah said:
"This last bit of time is about polishing the experience we want you to see. Ensuring that our open spaces are as engaging as possible. Strengthening the emotional impact of the Hero's choices. And ensuring the experiences you get is the best in can be in the platform you choose to play on."
    • Nintendo is creating a special deal for attendees of San Diego's Comic Con by offering Super Smash Bros. on demand. By snapping a picture of yourself on the floor of Comic Con and tweeting the picture with the tag #BringMeSmash, attendees are put in the running to play and experience the much hyped game. If the attendee is chosen, a Nintendo representative will show up to their location with a 3DS and the game, allowing them to play.

    • Steam has once again been taking control over how their controller is going to perform by an image being leaked out from their Steam Client Beta. By the picture, it is shown that the controller now will have a thumb stick on top of the two touch pads that makes the controller unique from the PlayStation and Xbox controllers, as they want to make PC controls as adaptable as possible for controls. The combination of the thumb stick with the touch pads makes this possibility a little bit closer. This had been the second update that Steam has made to the controller, the first one being in January when they removed the touch based screen that dominated most of the face of the controller and added a slew of new buttons in it's place in March. The controller is expected to be available for consumer purchase next year.
    • Fallout New Vegas' director John Sawyer of Obsidian Entertainment spoke out today in response to speculation of where the next Fallout game will take place in the series:
      John Sawyer said:
"I think going back to the Boneyard, LA would be pretty cool but another area that I think Nathanial Chapman who used to work at Obsidian, he thought that New Orleans would be a pretty cool setting for a Fallout game and I think that would be pretty cool as well."
At this point in time no confirmation has been made as of yet as to where the next Fallout game will take place, but this does offer some speculation as a possibility that may occur. Sawyer goes on to state that there are many different directions that he believes that the series could possibly go in or even experiment with:
      John Sawyer said:
"I think there are some interesting things that could happen with Fallout in an MMO environment. There are some folks who kind of cobbled all together all the Fallout 2 resources into kind of a makeshift MMO, made by fans...So I think there's interesting potential for an online version of Fallout."
However, Bethesda has had some difficulty already with their Elder Scrolls MMO, so they might be a little shy when it comes to creating a Fallout-based MMO.
What do you think of today's news? What do you think of the addition of the joystick to the Steam controller? Where would you like to see the new Fallout game based? Comment below with your opinions!

    • Activision has announced that they will be cancelling preorders for Destiny: Ghost Edition. The $150 Ghost Edition - which is supposed to be one step above the Limited Edition - was to include a "Ghost Replica, Limited Edition SteelBook™ Case and Game Disc, Guardian Folio, "Arms and Armament" Field Guide, Postcards from the Golden Age, Antique Star Chart, A Unique Ghost Casing, An Exclusive Player Emblem and An Exclusive Player Ship Skin." Apparently, this version of Destiny has exceeded the limit it does have, and thus Activision has begun cancelling some preorders, instead offering a downgrade to the limited edition or a refund. Activision's VP for product management Byron Beede has thus sent out a statement in result of people's fear of losing their preorder (but not exactly quelling those fears):
      Byron Beede said:
"Individual retailers have the best knowledge of whether any are still available at their store"
    • With more Destiny news, Activision has announced that the beta for the game will now be free-to-play for all gamers, meaning you don't need a preorder code now to play the game, so they can test there servers under maximum stress. The beta is available for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 through each console's respective online store. If you play the game on Saturday anytime before 2PM Pacific Time, you'll receive a unique emblem that will come with the game come the retail release of it. Bungie has also announced that there will be a lot more surprises to go with that as well.
    • The first trailer for Microsoft's ambition TV entertainment, Halo: Nightfall has finally been released to the public. It's supposed to bridge the gap between Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians, and it's supposed to be coming out next year. 343 Industries Frank O'Connor encourages fans to view the series before playing the game, quoting "If you don't watch [Nightfall] first, you're an idiot." While obviously joking O'Connor goes on to encourage fans of the Halo universe to not fret as it won't affect the inevitable gameplay of the game, stating:
      Frank O'Connor said:
"It won't affect your ability to enjoy and play 'Halo 5.' You will get to go on that journey both literally and metaphorically with [Locke] in that game."
343 Industries inevitably wanted to give backstory to Locke before experiencing him in the game. The series will be a part of the Master Chief Halo Collection, and the series will be shown on November 11th this year. To view the trailer for the series, click here.
And that's it for today's news! What do you think of all this Destiny talk? Do you think that Halo: Nightfall will be a hit or a flop? Comment below with your thoughts and opinions!

    • Today at Comic Con San Diego, Capcom surprised many gaming fans by announcing that Link, one of the founding mascots for Nintendo, would become a playable character in their next sequel to the Monster Hunter series, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. He is to be adorned with the classic tunic and weapons from Ocarina of Time, but will also be able to wield many of the weapons from the Monster Hunter universe. Monster Hunter 4 is the Western adaption to Japan's Monster Hunter 4G, and the game will be exclusive to play in early 2015 only on the Nintendo 3DS.
    • The summer hit-to-possibly-be Guardians of the Galaxy is making a big splash when it comes to making appearances in video games. At Comic Con San Diego today, Marvel unveiled what would be a long list of games that the movie would be included in:
      • Minecraft
      • Marvel Heroes 2015
      • Marvel: Pinball
      • Marvel: War of Heroes
      • Marvel: Avenger's Alliance

    • Today it was confirmed through represented Sony organizer's that their attempts to tackle Virtual Reality through Project Morpheus will be revealed at this year's GDC Europe, which will be taking place August 11th through August 13th. According to the session's description, Project Morpheus will:
"Creating a game engine requires knowledge of the hardware and software of your target system. Nowhere is this more important than with Virtual Reality where a consistent high frame rate and low-latency are essential to the experience."
All and all the session is supposedly going to give developers an understanding of to center games around Sony's Project Morpheus.
    • During San Diego's Comic Con, BioWare revealed that the Mako vehicle from the original Mass Effect will be making it's return to the next installment of the Mass Effect series. The vehicle is said to become more agile in the next game, but unfortunately will not have the cannon on top of it like it's predecessor. BioWare Mike Gamble comments on the physics of the vehicle, which in the original game had some crazy physics:
      Mike Gamble said:
""We're playing around with a bunch of different physics for the Mako. The thing that we have to do is make sure it is as responsive as possible. We've learned a thing or two over the years."
The next installment of the series was first revealed at this year's E3, but there is no word yet on when the game will come out just yet.
And that's it for today's news! What do you think of Link making an appearance in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate? Are you a fan of Guardian's of the Galaxy? What would you like to see come out of the conference designed to showcase Project Morpheus? Are you excited that the Mako vehicle is making a return? During the first part of the month - August 1st to August 15th - Xbox 360 users will be able to get Motorcross Madness, and after that they'll be able to get Dishonored.
    • Due to the popularity of the Dota 2 tournament being broadcasted earlier this month, ESPN is now in the works with Major League Gaming (MLG) in hopes of a continued partnership. While the numbers haven't been publicly disclosed just yet, representatives from ESPN have gone on record saying the tournament "exceeded expectations across the board." While they haven't committed to anything just yet, there is a bright future ahead for competitive gaming.
    • Sony fans, no need to fret any longer about your music, as today a Sony employee confirmed that they are currently in the works for an update that allows PlayStation 4 users to allow external music compatability as well as video player support. The employee went on to state that this update will hopefully be coming out later this year, preferably by the holiday season. At the same time, the employee went on to say that:
      • Sony will not provide discounts on PS3 games you already own when carried over to PS Now, a service that is allowing you to stream games over to compatible devices.
      • With PS Now, you can't actually buy the games, but rather just rent them. Furthermore, the subscription model in which it will be based on has also not been decided on as of yet.
      • The PlayStation mobile app is also getting a huge renovation soon.
And that's it for today's news? Are you excited for the free games coming to the Xbox consoles? What do you think of ESPN airing for competitive video gaming tournaments? How do you feel about Sony's stance with PS Now? Comment below with your thoughts and opinions!

    • Ubisoft announced a new trailer for Assassin's Creed: Unity, although this one has quite a twist to it. Elise, the name of the Templar in this trailer, is quoted by Ubisoft as being:
      Ubisoft said:
"...central to Assassin's Creed Unity's story. As an independent young noblewoman, Elise is determined to secure her place in the Templar dynasty admist the chaos of the French Revolution...her quest leads her to cross paths with Arno and establish an unlikely bond with him."
Elise will also be the main character of a light novel also entitled Assassin's Creed: Unity by Oliver Boden. The novel will be written in Elise's perspective and explore the role that she and Arno play in the battle between the Templars and the Assassins. Assassin's Creed: Unity is dated to come out October 28th, 2014 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The trailer for the video can be found here.
    • Today EA has announced a partnership with entertainment giant Microsoft bringing their biggest games to Xbox One via a new service called "EA Access." This new subscription service will be acting very similar to the way Netflix acts, in which EA Access will give you a library of EA games to choose from and play for a monthly fee. EA has allowed the service to be available to specific Xbox users as a beta testing, but has gone on record stating that it will be available to the public "soon." However, not all of the games will be available right at launch. Titanfall, Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare, Need for Speed Rivals, and UFC will all be unavailable for the time being, but gamers in the service will be able to rent and play FIFA 14, Madden NFL 25, Peggle 2, and Battlefield 4 as much as their hearts desire. EA will also be offering trail periods of new games up to 5 days before their release dates for subscribers, which in time will include Madden NFL 15, NHL 15, FIFA 15, NBA Live 15, and Dragon Age Inquisition for this trial period. If you plan on buying the games as well as being a subscriber, don't worry, your progress will be transferred over to the bought copy without losing any data. Furthermore, if you are a subscriber you will get a 10% discount on all digital EA games and DLC through the Xbox Live store.
    • Earlier today Ubisoft tweeted out a picture of a possible new setting for the sequel of the ever-so-popular Watch Dogs series. With the picture, the tweet read:
      Ubisoft/Watch Dogs Tweet said:
"The City of Camden, New Jersey had the highest crime rate in the US in 2012. A 24/7 surveillance program is now in effect_"
      The following tweet read:
      Ubisoft/Watch Dogs Tweet said:
"Our data indicates surveillance has become more prominent in high-crime areas_"
Ubisoft sold over 4 million copies of Watch Dogs during it's launch, making it the biggest launch for Ubsisoft during it's entire tenure as a video game company. As of today Ubisoft has shipped out over 8 million copies of the game and besides some technical issues with the game, it's not surprise that Ubisoft is thinking of turning the game into a full fledged series.
And that's it for today's news! What do you think of Ubisoft introducing a female character into it's series? Do you think that EA's new service will be a success with Microsoft's Xbox One? What do you think of Watch Dogs possibly advancing the game into a full fledged series by straying away from Chicago to New Jersey? Comment below with your opinions and thoughts!

    • Dead Island publisher Deep Silver has acquired the rights to publish Homefront: The Revolution solo after company Crytek was planning on publishing it alongside them. Deep Silver, who is currently working on Dead Island 2, tweeted out earlier today:
Official Deep Silver Twitter Account said:
"We have officially acquired all rights to the @homefrontgame IP and will continue to development of Homefront: #TheRevolution. Stay tuned for more news."
Crytek who bought the IP from THQ less than 2 years ago has been in quite a bit of financial trouble as of late as employees hadn't been paid on time or at all for months, as employees in result stopped showing up to work altogether. It had also been reported that Ryse 2, the sequel to Xbox One's exclusive, had been cancelled due to argument's over IP ownership, causing further hardships for the company.
    • Sony's PlayStation Now will now be available to all PlayStation 4 gamers starting tomorrow, as cited by Sony earlier today. However, this isn't considered a final release, but rather an open beta to players, so expect changes to be made before games are up and running. The service has been in private beta since January of this year, and was recently added to the PS4 in May. The service allows gamers to stream a selection of titles - mostly PS3 games - as well as legacy games consisting of PS2 and PS1 games as well. Titles are available as rentals and prices vary depending on how long you would like to keep the game to play. Although according to PlayStation Now Senior Director Jack Buser, Sony is currently working on a flat subscription rate for the service:
      Jack Buser said:
"We're currently working diligently to bring a subscription option to gamers to compliment our rental offering for PlayStation Now. We believe that offering both of these options would provide gamers the freedom to discover and play games in ways that weren't both possible."
However, don't consider Sony to model their subscription service off of the more recently announced EA subscription service, entitled EA Access. A representative from Sony spoke out, saying:
      Spokesperson said:
"We evaluated the EA Access subscription offering and decided that it does not bring the kind of value PlayStation customers have come to expect."
For now though, PlayStation gamers will be allowed to rent games for as little as $2.99 for 4 hours and $30.00 for 90 day rental. Since this is a beta, Buser has gone on record saying prices will fluxuate depending on the feedback that they receive from the beta. The open beta will open with 100 games to stream with more games being added soon.
    • Earlier today Nintendo has publically released their fiscal reports spanning over the last quarter (April - June) and it's still not looking good for the company. Although they are doing better then the quarter before, Nintendo was able to muster selling 510,000 copies of the Wii U last quarter bringing their total sales to 6.68 million, most of those console sales coming from the release of Mario Kart 8 with sales jumping 332% worldwide in the week following the game's release. The game has alone sold over 2.8 million copies, meaning that almost half of the Wii-U owners own a copy of the game as a direct result. With this quarter, Nintendo has announced a 9.47 million yen loss or about 92.6 million dollars. Sales are down 8.6% from the same time the previous year, which can be attributed to the lack of game releases. However, Nintendo believes that the next few months will turn that around thanks to the release of games like Bayonetta 2, Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, Super Smash Bros., Hyrule Warriors, the Ammibo figures, Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric, Disney Infinity 2, and Lego Batman 3 to name a few. The 3DS on the other hand continues to do well, selling 820,000 devices in the quarter, and more are believed to come due to the release of Super Smash Bros., Pokemon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby, and Sonic Boom Shattered Crystal on the device.
And that's it for today's news! What do you think of Deep Silver buying Homefront: The Revolution? Will you be using PlayStation Now when it comes out tomorrow? What are your opinions on Nintendo's continued losses? Comment below with your thoughts and opinions!

Oh Nintendo, still at losses. Well, then what I was thinking is correct. The holiday games, will most likely boost sales. Mainly becuase everyone wants Smash, it'll probably be a system seller for all we know. I'm half-expecting it to be the savior, though.

    • With the release of Sony's sales numbers for this quarter (April to June), we now know just how bad the PlayStation 4 is outselling the Xbox One. Sony was able to move 3.5 million units of PlayStation 3's and PlayStation 4's during the quarter, while Microsoft was only able to produce 1.1 million units of Xbox 360's and Xbox One's. To sum up, that means Sony outsold Microsoft 3-to-1 during that time period. These results stems even from Microsoft's recent price drop to $399 as well as their report saying that sales were "on the rise." As quoted by staff of Microsoft:
      Xbox Wire Staff said:
"Since the new Xbox One offering launched on June 9th, we've seen sales of Xbox One more than double in the US, compared to sales in May, and solid growth in Xbox 360 sales."
Of course, the report does not include any numbers after June 30th, so we'll get a good idea of the competition come the end of this next quarter.
And that's it for today! What do you think of Sony's numbers compared to Microsoft's? Do you think it really matters that the PlayStation 4 is outselling the Xbox One? Comment below with your thoughts and opinions!
