    Pokémon Polls Posting Challenge - September 2014

    Chances are, if you've clicked on this thread, you're curious as to what this is, so howdy! If you had the chance to read my blog post last week regarding the future of the Pokémon Polls board, you'll have noticed that we're giving posters the opportunity to contribute to the rotating splash that we have here in the forum (in case you haven't been paying attention, go back to the Pokémon Polls board, and refresh the page while looking at the splash- the Pokémon in the background should change!) For anyone that manages to earn 25 points within a month through creating threads (5 points each) or simply by posting (1 point each- but only once per thread), they can pick any Pokémon they'd like to have added to the current rotation. These numbers may change in the future depending on the level of activity within the board, but 25 seems like a good starting point. Also, if enough people participate, there may be a special emblem handed out to one lucky person every month, so that should give you even more reason to join in!

    In order to be eligible for this challenge, we ask that you post in this thread stating your intent to participate, and once again when you've reached the 25 point goal (we won't ask you to link to every single one, but don't think we aren't counting!). And hopefully it's obvious, but any posts in this thread don't count towards your total goal. If you've got any questions, feel free to ask me either in this thread, or in a VM/PM. But with that said, happy posting!

    It honestly makes me really sad to see both this forum and Pokemon General so dead lately because back when I joined PG was my stomping ground and very active. I realize Pokemon Polls wasn't around then, but since it's been created it's basically just a piece of PG that got turned into a subforum. Not saying that PP is the reason why both are so dead, but I still don't get why they're separate?

    Either way I will def participate though it will probably be a very slow climb lol.

    I am a little confused about the numbers, though. You keep saying and/or for the threads/posts thing. Do we have to post 5 threads AND 25 replies? Do we have to post 5 threads OR 25 replies? Or (this was my initial assumption), does 1 thread sort of count for 5 replies. So we could post 3 threads and make up the difference with 10 replies. Sorry if this is an obnoxious question, hahaha.

    It's strange, just a few months ago PGen+PP combined to be the fifth most active forums on PC, with Pokemon Polls actually being more active than PGen at some points. I'm honestly not sure what happened between now and then, but hopefully an event like this will kick things back into motion. If not, we could always re-assess the need for a Pokemon Polls board.     I worded it that way to encourage people to not just pick one or the other, but I do like the idea that 1 thread = 5 posts. If you don't mind, I'm going to borrow that idea, and update the rules for other posters.
     
    I'm definitely signing-up. I've been planning to post around here more often, and this should help on lending some motivation, haha.
     
    I haven't been terribly active lately, but maybe this can turn that around for me, haha. I'll give it a whirl. :3

    Yes, all posts made in September count! I was going to originally post this challenge on the first of the month, but life got in the way.

    Any way, I'll be sure to update the scores tomorrow to let you all know how you're doing so far this month!
     
    Congratulations to Virgo on being the first person to reach 25 points this month! I'll make sure to add Bellsprout to our rotating splash for you once this month's challenge is over.

    A couple of you are pretty close to hitting the 25 point goal too, so make sure you keep posting to be represented in the Pokemon Polls splash, and to have a chance at a special emblem!
     
    With a little over 48 hours to go, I'm happy to say that both Yet Another Logical Nerd and Cherrim have both passed the 25 point mark, and will have a Pokemon of their choice added to the forum splash. I've already received YALN's choice of Torchic, but let me know when you've made your choice Erica, so I can work towards getting the splash updated!

    As for everyone else, there's still time to complete the challenge! Remember- posting a thread gets you 5 points, which means a few of you are pretty close to getting your 25 points as well. Best of luck!

    Thanks to everyone who participated in this challenge! We're still finalizing the Pokemon that will be added to the splash, but congratulations to Virgo, Cherrim and Yet Another Logical Nerd for completing the challenge. We'll be doing another one of these in a few months to help keep the Pokemon in the splash fresh, so be sure to keep an eye out for that in the near future!
