The goal of this challenge is to hatch and raise your entire team of 6 Pokemon by hand. You complete this challenge when 6 hatched Pokemon are at level 100 and you've completed a play through of a single game (meaning you've gotten all 8 badges, beaten the Elite 4 and the Champion).

    RULES
    1. All Pokemon on your team must start at Level 1 in the new game. Pokemon at higher levels at the start are not eligible for the play through. They can still be in egg form by the time you start the game, but remember that this will leave you with one less Pokemon to battle with.

    2. All Pokemon must have been bred either in the current game or one of your previous games. Pokemon can be hatched in a previous game but it must be a game that only you have played in and must adhere to rule #1.

    3. You cannot use event Pokemon in Battle. For example, in X & Y -- the case of Lapras, you must select Run during wild encounters. Lucario is the only exception for this, and only for the Mega Evolution battle. However, in terms of Starter Pokemon, you cannot run from battles with other trainers. Avoid them if you can. If you can't, only the first route is allowed to have your starter Pokemon battled. So, for example, if I choose Chespin as my starter my goal is to get to the first Poke Center as quick as possible. I may do one or two battles with other NPC trainers, but otherwise my goal is to avoid and run from wild encounters, going back ONLY when I have the Pokemon I listed here on the sign up sheet..

4. You may not trade for level one Pokemon. If you didn't breed it, the Pokemon is not eligible for this play through.

    5.
You aren't allowed to move on to the next badge until 1 of your Pokemon are at the maximum level.

    6. OPTIONAL: You must choose a type that all of the Pokemon will have. It's okay if they are duo types, but they all must have one type in common. This is called Monotype Mode!

    7. OPTIONAL: Turn off Ex. Share to add difficulty.
This is called The Long Hall Mode.

    8. OPTIONAL: Name each Pokemon in your team to further their bond with you.

final team: Weavile (hopefully), Milotic, Agron, Ninetales, Tyranitar, Gardevior
Also just to check. Does this mean that in Alpha Sapphire I have to grind at least one pokemon to level 30 before taking on Roxanne?

Hi there! Thanks for joining the challenge! Yes, you do have to get up to level 30 before taking on Roxanne (or the equivalent to badge #3). But only one Pokemon must follow this rule. This is mainly to prevent you from getting Pokemon too powerful to listen to you. :-)

Before I choose my game to do this challenge in I just want to clear up a few things.
    1. Does it matter what game it is so long as the game is from Gen IV and onward as long as it follows the rules you specified or does it have to be a Gen VI game?
    2. When we transfer the eggs do they have to be hatched or unhatched?
    3. And if the eggs have to be unhatched do we need to catch pokemon on the intended game to trade for the eggs and let them hatch?

Hi Hyperjono, thanks for considering the challenge!

    1. It doesn't matter what game you're completing the challenge with. As long as you can feasibly follow the main rules, I see no reason to limit you!

    2. You can transfer the eggs whenever you like, just remember that your egg will take up a slot on your team and thus leave you with one less Pokemon to battle with.

    3. As long as the egg was birthed in a save file that only you have played in, you're good to go! In other words, you do not need to hatch or breed them in the intended game. As long as by the time they are switched to your intended file, they're at level 1, you've complied with the rules. (Sorry, it's a bit late here and I had a long day. Please let me know if this doesn't make sense or I need to clarify further).

Also, I belatedly noticed that you hadn't chosen a difficulty level. Will you playing Normal, Monotype or The Long Hall?

That's alright you cleared it up nicely. It was just how you worded the rules that had me confused. Though with your 5th rule regarding the badges. Do we have to complete each one before we can progress. So what i mean is before i can challenge the first gym do I have to hatch and transfer my team, second badge get one pokemon to level 30 before i can challenge 2nd gym and so on and so on

I went back and clarified, so thank you for pointing it out. ^-^

You do have to complete each badge before you move on to the next one. So your example was correct. You hatch and transfer your team, get one Pokemon to level 30 before you're able to challenge the corresponding Gym Leader, then continue to level your Pokemon until at least one member of your team is strong enough to match the badge's maximum level. (E.G, in order to gain the plant badge or even challenge the Gym Leader one of my Pokemon will have to be at level 60. So if by the end of Stage 4, my Pokemon is only at level 50 I need to go through and level one Pokemon up by 10 levels).

I updated the sign up sheet so there's a place to put that information. You don't need to use it since you signed up before it fixed, but it should make the details a little bit clearer. ^.^

You should update the rules to say Level 1 for Gen IV and onward ]and Level 5 for Gen III as there may be people who will want to do this challenge on Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Leaf Green or Fire Red. And expand on Rule 5 and how the stages connect with it to help other people understand it. And you should also allow people to trade to evolve Pokemon. And i think you should make Rule 8 mandatory as nickname a Pokemon tends to make it feel more personal and the player is more connected with it or at least that is what i think

Does Gen III not have any Pokemon that start at level 1 when you hatch it? Sorry I've never played Gen III games, but I assumed all Pokemon games had opportunities to start with Pokemon who were at level 1. The idea, though, is that you start Pokemon from whatever the equivalent of level one is. I'll look further into Gen III and the corresponding games, though, to see if there should be edits to reflect the games limitations.

The stages are designed to be edited to whatever badges are in the game you're playing. I can go back and edit the stages so that they're more personalizable. Basically, though, as long as you follow the description in the stage numbers you're still following the heat of the challenge.

I will not be allowing trade in this chsallenge, as I feel that defeats the purpose of hatching your Pokemon from scratch. However, if you have a Pokemon you want to use as a "parent" Pokemon, that Parent is allowed to be a traded Pokemon. IDK if that makes sense, but that's the best way I can think of to describe it. And the best compromise for the game.

I feel the same way about Nicknames. They really make you feel more connected to the Pokemon, but everyone has different styles of gameplay so I didn't want to limit challengers on the names. Not everyone views the nicknames the same way we do. ^-^

No Gen I, Gen II(where breeding was first introduced) and Gen III games the lowest level Pokemon you could have was level 2 and when you hatched an egg the Pokemon was level 5 it was in Gen IV that hatched Pokemon where level 1

    I get ya.

Fair enough it's your Challenge and that did make sense

True and your right some people aren't really a fan of nicknames.

Alright, so technically, it's Wednesday but only by like an hour. I thought I'd give an update. ^-^

For the first part of the game, I choose Chespin as my starter. Then, sped through as much as I could to get to the Pokecenter so that I could trade out my Beginners team. The whole process took about 30 minutes of game play. I plan to do more later on, and will do this weeks final update later on today. I'm currently in the Poke-Center, waiting to exit out.

How about you guys? Got any progress or updates?

I just got past the third badge on my Motherhen Challange on Soul Silver. I've pretty much been playing Soul Silver since I started this Challenge.
    My team currently
    Glacieric the Glalie. Lv 50
    Haelstrom the Swinub Lv. 25
    Snowblood the Sneasal Lv. 30
    Frieja the Froslass lv 31
    Snowstorm the Snover Lv 28
    Frozenia the Lapras Lv 25
It took me forever to get Glacieric to Lv 50
