Unpopular Opinions

This thread is made in the same vein as gimmepie's religious beliefs thread, with the same rules as well. One post per person, no replying/debating, etc. If you need to add another point, edit your post. It's all laid out in the other thread and that was pretty successful. It's for you to share your thoughts and have other hear them and possibly learn from them. Hostility will obviously not be abided.

Now, this is a pretty varied subject. But that's precisely the idea - I think it's a good idea to have it collected under one roof for the world to see, making it easier to gauge how a person's view on one matter may influence another view of theirs. Understanding and so forth. There's no limit to what you can talk about, but again, no hostility. Of course, anything posted will be left at the mods discretion. I just think it's more interesting to have these kinds of beliefs together under one umbrella than separated issue by issue. I might be wrong, but whatever.

The criteria is simple - if you have an opinion that you think is unpopular or otherwise not common, talk about it here. I'd say talk less about homosexuality & abortion than other issues simply because they've been debated so hotly in here in recent times and everyone is pretty much aware of where we each stand on that, but again, it's up to you. Just don't treat this like a joke thread.

Y'all have fun now!

I think stereotypes, as much as they run society and people's lives, I wish people would just cease it all together and not label someone for something they aren't and only by popular opinion. Think people think! You have a brain, why not use it?
Stereotyping is the most awful thing you can do to someone's self confidence and physical/mental attractiveness. It's like an "accepted" put down for mankind to imply with, pretty much. I don't use the term label. I just say title of things. Labeling as it has become, is such a downright stupid term/formed by social media.

I think that gender and sex are the same thing for humans as they are for every other animal (humans are animals after all). If you have a penis you are male, if you have a vagina you are female, if you have both, you are a hermaphrodite. That's it! None of this gender fluidity nonesense based on social stereotypes that could change at any moment. If you happen to be a male who likes to hear lipstick or likes the same thing that females do, you are still male. Carrying a handbag or wearing lipstick doesn't make you any less of a male than the macho body builder. The same applies to women.

The thing about social stereotypes is they can change at any moment. There was a time when it was socially unacceptable for women to eear anything other than a dress, but now they can wear whatever they like. Similarly back in ages past blue was a "girl's" colour and pink was a "boy's" colour. Now it's the reverse. How silly is that?

Any arrogance or hostility or whatever of social justice warriors, vegans, feminists, Black Lives Matter activists and so on doesn't change the fact that for the most part they're right. They're at the forefront of history, and although they're not perfect and neither are all of their views and stances, they're moving in the right direction for where the world needs to go if it's going to survive. If, as I hope, we do move toward that future, lots of people and views of today are going to look to future generations the way we today look at neo-nazis and confederate flag-wavers: backwards people stuck in old-world ideas and unwilling to learn or take the necessary steps toward preserving the future and fighting for justice.

I support complete personal and economic liberty, and I take self-ownership (you own yourself and no one owns another human being) and the Non-Aggression Principle to heart (dont hit people), and these political leanings are pretty uncommon.

Arbitrary gender assignment of inanimate objects, and accosting people for going against this because GOD FORBID A WOMAN PREFERS A PRODUCT THAT SAYS IT'S FOR MEN, is the worst thing in the world.

If the product is actually functionally specialized to a sex, that's not arbitrary. I'm talking specifically about needlessly sexist marketing. Why not make your product appeal to everyone instead of just a specific sex? If you didn't alienate half the human population you'd attract twice the customer base. Gendered marketing makes no sense to me whatsoever and never will.
