    to do list:
    Spoiler:
    Gauntlet mode scripts
remaining 4 maps and 2 map designs in gauntlet mode
Redo the battle frontier so the difficulty feels less random
make a nice picture with all the changes from the base battle engine
    Decap in full
Possibly level boost the trainer's eye rematches in line with new level curve
Add an EV checker I completely forgot to implement
Slay the evil that is Revive spam
    --then (eventually)
all 40 megas I guess, since people keep asking, even though I think the mechanic itself sucks lmao
all 30 later gen evolutions. Currently all pokemon with evolutions have base stats adjusted closer to their gen 4 evos in terms of power level.
Maybe fix contests? Nobody has asked for them back, which doesn't really surprise me.

    Latest patch: 2.5. Changes:
    Spoiler:

Rebalanced the game from start to finish, now the level curve ends at 70 rather than 58. Now a proper actual difficulty curve.
Remade a few gym battles, rival battles, and Team Leader battles to be more challenging
The team magma base has been redone. Now whenever you encounter a trainer you are thrown back to the previous room. Tactical espionage sneaking action. Good fun.
All fossils are now properly implemented. Previously these were wild encounters.
    Rickroll added to guitarist dalton
Tuneful R&B hit added to Drake's match call
    ---balance
Buffs to mons that take a while to get evolved e.g swablu, growlithe, clefairy, jigglypuff
Waterfall now 70 base power, raises speed a stage.
    New ability: Armor Tuning
-Lowers Sp.Def but sharply raises Def when hit by Physical moves
-Lowers Def but sharply raises Sp.Def when hit by Special moves
    On Corsola and the regis.
    Corsola now learns Baton Pass
Exeggutor now takes 0 steps to hatch because it already is an egg
    ---bugs
Fixes to a few minor glitches that I can't remember
Palettes are now even nicer, especially in the sea
catching ariados in fray manor no longer sends you to the bottom of the sea
Volt switch/uturn/parting shot no longer causes a crash in double battles when all but 2 mons are fainted

What happens when you take (almost) every move and ability from gen 1 to 7, add some new ones to the mix, and then cram them into just 386 Pokémon?
You get a level of meta diversity the main games could only dream of! Over half the abilities are signature abilities, and moves are no different! You can catch all your favourites here, but they might not be quite how you remember them...

On top of that, I've rebalanced and re-teamed the trainers and gym leaders, then freshened up every route in Hoenn and added five new ones. And I love the puzzles: they're optional, fair, and absolutely devilish.

If you're reading this and you aren't on this site: https://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=386229, please go there. It's the official upload.

    On with the show!
    Starring:
    • Dizzy Egg's/Chacha Dinosaur's emerald battle engine: most moves, many items, and all types, phys/spec split, abilities, capture xp, and all abilities (within reason) up to generation 7 are in the game
    • The palette has been made more vibrant (yep, those screenshots are outdated) All routes have been remodeled, some islands have been added in the sea, victory road is completely new and exciting, and 5 new (fully optional) routes have been added: a canyon, a haunted house, an extension to route 119's river, a snowy mountain, and a mine.
    • So many quality of life changes!
      • Fly to routes,
      • Reuse tms and move tutors as much as you want,
      • Run indoors,
      • Access Pokémarts downstairs in all Pokémon Centres
      • Delete all HMs except Surf and Fly,
      • Use the updated repel system,
      • Access all the secret base items,
      • A few storyline rewrites (the Magma Base is now an enjoyable little sneaking mission where you have to avoid getting seen. )
      • An ability switcher in Mossdeep
      • An IV perfecter in the Battle Frontier (with the option to give you 0 base speed of course)
      • And even more QOL improvements!
        Spoiler:
HM use in overworld takes fewer button presses, same goes for Berry planting
        Poison doesn't hurt in overworld
Daycare man now steps directly in the way of the bike path on route 117 to alert when an egg is hatched
Game corner times are cheaper, and buying the currency is more expensive (Overall cost of items is the same in pokedollars, but playing the slots is relatively more rewarding now. This change was made specifically to encourage minors to gamble.)
Ashblower items are half price, huff-puff
Battle frontier items cost eight times less (Now 32BP for a lapras doll down from 256bp)
Stat screen displays natures' +/- stats (see screenshots)
        Both bikes obtainable in overworld
Fossil resurrector now resurrects every fossil you're holding all in one go
Sitrus berries can be farmed for $$$ efficiently, having a reasonable resale price
Name rater lets you change your avatar's name
New dex entries to keep it fun
    • The Hoenn dex mode has been fully reordered to roughly match the order in which mons can be obtained. National dex given to you from the start (switch to Hoenn mode using search menu)
    • New typings!
      • Swablu is pure flying
      • Banette is ghost/normal,
      • Parasect is ghost/grass,
      • Masquerain is water/bug,
      • Torkoal is fire/steel,
      • Sceptile/Grovyle are grass/fight
      • Nosepass is rock/elec
    • New Learnsets for every Pokémon!
      (listed in the zip file)

    • New abilities for every Pokémon!
      (listed in the zip file)

    • 386 pokémon are available, all of which have been tinkered, polished, dusted off and enhanced. All of them are really cool to use, and I've tried them all. Highlights include:
      Spoiler:
Disguise Sudowoodo complete with a form change
Shields Down Golem complete with a form change
Ghost/Grass horror tank Parasect with 140 sDef, spore and nightmare
Spinda with Dancer and every "Dance" move in the game
Grass/Fight Grovyle and Sceptile with Defiant, Forest Curse, Mat Block, Low Sweep, and Sacred Sword
Corsola lowers Sp.Def but sharply raises Def when hit by Physical moves, and lowers Def but sharply raises Sp.Def when hit by Special moves. Or gets regenerator
Levitate Electrode as the only thing that learns Electro Ball
Porygon/Porygon2 that changes from one to the other every level
Ariados with a learnset based round toxic thread (now badly poisons and halves speed), baneful bunker, venom drench, and venoshock and access to electroweb and psychic fangs
Beedrill with Merciless and 40 (x2) base power Twineedle with 40% chance to poison each hit.
Innards Out Poliwag line (and drizzle for politoed of course)
Victory Star Starmie with Laser Focus and Prismatic Laser
Soul-Heart Luvdisc with huge defensive power
Pixilate/intimidate Snubbull (available on route 101)
      Reckless Tauros with Head Charge
Tentacool line with Tangling Hair or water bubble
Moody Sunkern with seed bomb by lv19, gets Weather Ball, Synthesis and Solarbeam, and evolves into Drought Sunflora.
Hoppip line without offensive moves til it's Jumpluff but with stunning support ones all along, and also symbiosis then Prankster (or Fluffy)
Queenly Majesty Nidoqueen and King's Shield Nidoking, or if you don't like that you can have them with both Poison Touch and Poison Point simultaneously (with Poison Touch's new effect)
not to mention Flame Body now additionally offering Typhlosion the same 30% chance for its own contact moves to cause burns.
      Schooling Exeggcute lmao

Girafarig turns every battle it's involved in into an Inverse battle.
Lunatone sets Gravity on switching in,
      And more. Many more!
    • New difficulty curve! All wild encounters are at roughly the level your team should be at, so switching Pokémon in and out is really easy and rewarding. XP yields are slightly lower early on to compensate for this, which means Nuzlockes are hopefully relatively more challenging than usual.
    • New Trainer fights for some trainers (and all the important characters) especially later in the game. Expect to get danced over by Tate & Liza, sharked by Archie, rused by Sidney, and completely rinsed by Wallace, whose battle takes place in semi-permanent rain

    -------------------------

This rom is complete, and has a full postgame, but I still occasionally update it with new features. This used to happen pretty regularly, but now I'm slowing it down a lot. I'm also stopping posting playthrough help in the thread, cause man it's too much of a task! Will respond to bug reports tho.

    TRADES:
    Rustboro: Horsea
    Fortree: Meowth
    Pacifidlog: Snorlax

"I want entei and raikou" I'm really sorry, these will probably return later.

Puzzle Walkthroughs and hints (Pa'i canyon, victory road, and the Second Bike. (with images soon)
    Spoiler:
    Northmost item, route 119.
    Spoiler:
You will need a pokemon with Hyper Cutter and Cut. Try trapinch

    The second bike
    Spoiler:
located on route 129, on an island to the east. I'm sure you can find it, even though the itemfinder's not picking it up! Follow the flowers.

    Pa'i canyon
    Left boulder puzzle:
    Spoiler:
when you push a boulder down the slope, you keep bumping into it and it goes all the way to the bottom. However, when you push one boulder into another, it doesn't move!
All you have to do is move the lower boulder up until it's 2 steps below the way to the item, then push the upper boulder all the way down until it hits the lower boulder. Then dismount your bike and grab the item.

    Right boulder puzzle
    Spoiler:
When you ride up the mach bike slope, you can take one step left, then fall back to the bottom. The rest should be self explanatory. (Do it again).

    Hidden cave in the south
    Spoiler:
You can reach this from under the bridge on its left.

    Walking through trees
    Spoiler:
If you look closely, the trees you can walk through look slightly offset from the rest. Use this to spot paths to items

    Cave warp maze
    Spoiler:
Just re-enter every cave as you exit it. Eventually you'll wind up coming out of the far rightmost cave. Talk to the boulder on your left. A door will open. Go through it.

    Braille
    Spoiler:
If you could access the third braille sign, it would say "of". What might "Triangle" be referring to?

    Victory road
    3 magnemite
    Spoiler:
One of these magnemite can move up 2, down 2, left 2 or right 2. That means it can only reach one of the bridge opening crystals. The other two can move three spaces in one of their directions. Use this to move them to the other crystals, a bit like how you did with the last puzzle.

    Ice puzzles
    North-west puzzle
    Spoiler:
    Use surf

    Strength puzzle
    Spoiler:
For both of these, you need to move the boulder that you can reach into a spot with a circle on it. You can probably figure the rest out from there.

    Hidden Item strength puzzle
    Spoiler:
You'll need a boulder, and a good sense of whereabouts the itemfinder is pointing you. Plan your route!

    Ice puzzle floor 2.
    Spoiler:
This requires pictures to explain. It is possible, though! Just like the previous floor, you need to move these boulders to specific locations, but I'll leave it to you to work out where they are. Good luck.

    RECOMMENDED POKEMON LIST
    Spoiler:
Girafarig, Banette, Sunkern, Grumpig, Murkrow, Smeargle, Eeveelutions, Porygon, Huge Power Farfetch'd, Ralts, Cacnea, Roselia, Ariados, Geodude, Baltoy, Spinda, Shedinja of course, Prankster/Contrary shuckle, sceptile, furret, misdreavus, gligar, Gale Wings taillow, Lunatone, ledian, Sneasel, Piloswine, jumpluff, Innards Out Poliwag line, the fossils, and honestly, whatever you want, am I right?

    FAQ/walkthrough
    Spoiler:
    Where's Cut?
    Spoiler:
House to the left of the pokemon center in Rustboro

    There's a box in mauville?
    Spoiler:
Cross over the wooden bridge that's south of the Game Corner, and head to route 103

Where do I go after Flannery?
    Spoiler:
Petalburg Gym, but you may as well do some exploring beforehand. I recommend the desert, fiery path, and route 115!

Where do I get HM08 Dive?
    Spoiler:
Route 135, south of Mt. Pyre.

What's this Devon scope and where do I get it??
    Spoiler:
It's given to you on a bridge on route 120.

What's going on with this item ball in a tricky puzzle location!?
    Spoiler:
    Check "Secret Stuff"

    Why isn't Grovyle a dragon!?
    Spoiler:
Sceptile is Grass fighting so people stop asking me to make him dragon type. While it'd make them "better" in the sense they'll be stronger, I think you'll like Fighting type more cause of the forest ninja vibe.

    Team Recommendations:
    Spoiler:
If your team seems samey, flesh it out with one of these:

Baton Passer (Aipom, mawile, Ledian, Furret, Ninjask etc) or Stat Booster (Illumise, Volbeat, Omanyte, Clefable, Shedinja, Claydol)
Tank (Shroomish, Sudowoodo, Parasect, pain splitters like misdreavus, or anything with a huge defense stat)
Fast High Attack Thing just to beat wild mons easily (dodrio, fearow, mankey, electrike, vulpix, and most other things)
Terrain/Weather User (Sandshrew, Larvitar, Swinub, Politoed, Sunflora, Chinchou/ Magneton, Chikorita, Stantler, Swablu) This game really rewards you for using weather, not just for rain and sun but for Hail and Sand too. Hail now boosts ice type defense by 1.5x.
Cleric (Any aromatherapy user. There's too many things with access to tm05 Aromatherapy to list, but also stuff with Milk drink or Softboiled (miltank, cacturne, Chansey) is really cool).

Try to get a bit of Status in there too, either by just holding onto a couple of afflicting moves in general, or with a specific status user (butterfree, lunatone, Parasect) or something with Poisonous/flame body/static (muk, nidoran, cyndaquil, pikachu, electrike). Also try and find stuff with unique quirks like Innards Out Poliwag, Weak Armor Omanyte, or Opposite Day Girafarig

Really fun team: Aipom, Geodude, Pikachu, Sunkern, Illumise, Nidoqueen
You could also pick all 3 Pokémon with Dancer (grumpig, Spinda, Ludicolo)

    Fun monotype runs:
Grass (parasect, treecko, sunkern, hoppip, Roselia, shroomish, Lileep, Cacnea, )
Normal (proygon granbull pidgeot togepi ratatta zigzagoon furret)
Psychic (grumpig girafarig lunatone claydol illumise and hypno)
Electric (chinchou core, Mareep, Pikachu, Static in general)
Ice (hail team with Swinub and Seel core)
Bug (Shuckle!! Altering cave mon, Spinarak, Ledyba, beedrill)
Poison (Nidorina core. Poison types now take 25% less damage from poisoned foes too, so toxic spikes in a poison monotype is great)

    Known Bugs:
    Spoiler:
    Small fixes
    -infinite roaming latios
    -minor visual bugs route 120
-Breeding not updated to new mechanics at all
    Lengthy fixes
-Contests are removed while I nurse them back up to health
-the battle frontier is kinda balanced, but not really. Needs a full difficulty curve makeover to account for things like Flygon and Furret being about equal in power
-odd move choices in the battle palace
-some moves have the same animations as others
-Some Pokémon have probably been given weird Tm/Tutor moves by accident, but I haven't found too many
Double edged sword of using an incredible yet complex battle engine:
-battle text boxes are wildly inaccurate e.g. there is no message for Misty Terrain blocking sleep, playing on battle style Shift announces all pokémon as if they're owned by the wrong people when sent out
    -psy terrain doesn't block priority
-Some status applying features (like synchronise or toxic orb) go through some immunities
-Steven appears as the player sprite for 2 seconds when fighting Maxie in Mossdeep Space Centre
-extremely weird bug that seems to occur near mt pyre randomly where a Pokémon's type immunities will get messed around.
Not bugs but might seem like them
-ghost lady in fray manor and in Mt. Pyre
-if you seem to have warped into a black screen near New Mauville via a staircase, that's not a bug, it's a secret.

Hope you enjoy! Please do drop me an honest rating out of 5 when you're done <3

last updated 18 april. Please install only one patch at a time.
DON'T INSTALL MULTIPLE NUMBERED PATCHES ON THE SAME ROM! This will cause bugs.
DON'T USE UNIPATCHER! This seems to cause bugs with switching Pokémon in and out. Idk why??

Patch 2.2.12 is available here an older, less up-to-date backup version. There's a few bugs in it, because of this, that are fixed in 2.4, like a guy who completely fails to stop you from accessing route 102 from oldale and a late game oddity with finding kyogre, but I'm keeping it up in case a later patch turns out to be busted and I have to revert to an earlier version. It also has a much wider number of Pokémon type changes and move changes if you're a fan of those.
For up to date versions, or if you're suffering from severe patching trouble, join the discord

Seems cool. Interesting that this wasn't put into the sideshw showcase. I'll probably give it a try.

        Wait, what's the sideshow showcase?
EDIT: Oh, gotcha. Yeah, that is a grey area. It is actually more than just a 386 difficulty patch, I promise! The story progresses through routes in a slightly different order, and like I say, every route and city got a few tweaks, and so did every pokemon. It's like pokemon BW versus B2W2 level of changes.

edit 2: this post has aged badly lmao, I moved it to the sideshow showcase in like June, cause the storyline is nearly the same as emerald. I'd rather promise less and impress than promise more and disappoint

I do like it overall from the looks of it. Not gonna lie though, while on one hand the move/typing etc changes will make the game fresh but I kinda sorta dislike this as well.
Highly appreciate slight changes in maps and overall higher difficulty. I might try this hack later.

Can you please provide another download link to the patch? I can't seem to be able to download it on my android browser and I don't want to download their app.

This looks great! you should think about patching in some mega evolutions tho, there are some pretty easy battle engines you can just apply with a patch, but you might have to mess around with offsets since you've already added a bunch of stuff

EDIT: btw, this is gonna get taken down p soon, you're not allowed to link directly to a rom file, you have to link a patch (ips or ups)

Just to warn that there IS swearing in this hack, caught a female Nidoran and it mentions the F word in her pokedex entry.

Why people insist in putting swearing in Pokemon I have no idea, but that's just me.

Imma patch this out, I thought id updated and removed it but apparently not! give me about an hour.
It's oddly funny having to veto a whole slew of my own dex entries for old edgy teen humour

Thanks for reading the rules for me, I'm really sorry guys, I literally just chucked the thread up and assumed I didn't need to check anything. Probs the most useful feedback I could have wished for lmao

Wow is this polished so far. I'm really enjoying the way you've utilized the basics of the game to the fullest instead of needing to artificially add features or anything like that.

Any hints for the condition for Splash to work?

I'm really sorry to say that Splash's move description of "deals huge damage under certain conditions" might just be a cheeky joke; Splash still does absolutely nowt! Have fun with hoppip!

EDIT: just patched out some expletives I missed. There were never any in the main story text iirc, just in the dex cause it's the oldest. Magikarp is also no longer called magikrap. If you bump into any more, hit me up #KeepThatERating

dude you've gotten far, what the heck! How do you like it so far?

Dive is on route 135, south of Mt. Pyre on the town map. There's a girl with pink hair who gives it you. Should I put in a few more things pointing to her?

I feel like I might give this a try, if you keep on working on it. I do like difficulty patches and ones with the complete pokedex but I feel like you could try to add more features like mega evolutions or BW repel system which are in a lot of new rom hacks. It does look good though, I have been waiting for some Hoenn updates like a sequel or made in the DS style and this does look like what I've been asking for. You may want to check out Pokemon Ruby 2 and Sapphire 2 in the Progressing Hacks thread.

I agree with BW repels, although I really think the random encounters give routes a lot of feel. It'd be an improvement, though, so I'll probably chuck it in next time I inevitably update lol

I thought about Mega evolutions, and I think they're unnecessary. If I just chuck them in, it'll screw the difficulty unless I put them in postgame, and much as I've done some charming price reductions in the battle frontier I really doubt anyone will keep playing on once they beat wallace!
Then, even if I bash and tweak them into a less powerful shape, it turns out that megas are essentially less fun than a thunderstone evolution. The only difference is that you have to click more stuff in battle and you have less customisation options because your item slot is gone. If I wanted to add in a mega banette, I would instead change banette's base stats and ability, or do it as a moon stone evo. I'm definitely not going to do this, I don't think it adds anything positive.

In my mind, this hack's virtually in it's final state. I might get myself a moves and abilities patch and make use of that, but honestly there's more than enough different strategies to use already, and I don't think it needs more. I also have uni commitments! I'll wait until someone plays it and says it needs more variety.

Give it a shot though, I bet you'll have fun! Thanks a bunch for the recommendation.

EDIT: Credit to danny0317 and Phenom2122, what absolute machines, I now have the full BW repel system working ingame!!!

This looks great, playing it rn on mobile. Is there an extensive list of pokemon, move, and location changes sitting around? It would probably be very useful for people like me who enjoy knowing why you recommend so many normally crap pokemon.

That's an extra old in joke. Is carvanha by any chance spelled carvahna?

What does this mean exactly? Will Porygon2 keep trying to devolve into Porygon at every level or something?

#cybercrime_central on the Nuzlocke Forum Discord server got a bunch of good laughs at your Pokedex entries, thank you so much.

The only issue I see in the screenshots is the blue-roofed gym, which looks ugly as hell. Otherwise, this looks pretty neat! I like how you make the grass bridges. Pretty interesting.

Yeah what's up with that? Been thinking of using Porygon2 in this hack since its one of my fav pokemon but I don't want it to..."devolve" after one level.

Where can you find Porygon anyway? Not sure if I reached that point yet or passed it by mistake.
