Latest patch 6 jan, patch 2.2.10
    Spoiler:

    6/1 2.2.10
changed 3 bytes (important ones tho):
    -removed poison hurting in overworld
    -fixed pinsir

replaced some duplicate abilities with new ones
    -poliwag line gets storm drain
    -diglett gets water compaction
    -seel gets ice body

statline buffs for dodrio, seaking, zangoose, seviper, moltres, zapdos, articuno, metang and metagross, and nerfs to snorunt and celebi

The changes document should be very accurate now

What happens when you take (almost) every move and ability from gen 1 to 7, add some new ones to the mix, and then cram them into just 386 Pokémon?
You get a level of meta diversity the main games could only dream of! Over half the abilities are signature abilities, and moves are no different! You can catch all your favourites here, but they might not be quite how you remember them...

On top of that, I've rebalanced and re-teamed the trainers and gym leaders, then freshened up every route in Hoenn and added five new ones. The thing I'm most proud of in the game is the puzzles: they're optional, fair, and absolutely devilish.

    On with the show!
    Starring:
    • Dizzy Egg's emerald battle engine: most moves, types, items, capture xp, and abilities up to gen 7 are in game
    • All routes have been remodeled, some islands have been added in the sea, victory road is unrecognisable, and 5 new routes have been added: a canyon, a haunted house, an extension to route 119, a snowy mountain, and a mine.
    • So many quality of life changes! Fly to routes, reuse tms and move tutors, delete most hms, use the updated repel system, get all the secret base items, and surf, heal and plant berries with fewer button presses, and enjoy few storyline rewrites too!
    • The Hoenn dex mode has been fully reordered to roughly match the order in which mons can be obtained. National dex given to you from the start
    • 386 pokémon are available, all of which have been tinkered, polished, dusted off and enhanced with new movesets and new abilities. Most pokémon are really cool to use. Highlights include:
      Spoiler:
Disguise Sudowoodo complete with a form change
      Shields Down Golem
ghost/grass horror tank parasect with 140 sDef, spore and nightmare
Spinda with Dancer and every "Dance" move in the game
Grass/Fight Grovyle and Sceptile with Defiant, Forest Curse, Mat Block, Low Sweep, and Sacred Sword
Levitate Electrode as the only thing that learns Electro Ball
Porygon/Porygon2 that changes from one to the other every level
Water/Bug masquerain with sweet veil or intimidate, coupled with rock solid defenses
Ariados with a learnset based round toxic thread, baneful bunker, venom drench, and venoshock and access to electroweb and psychic fangs
Beedrill with Merciless and 40 (x2) base power Twineedle with 40% (or rather 64%) chance to poison
Psychic Surge Stantler with Horn Leech and a 90 power Psychic move (Constellate) that restores 100% of the damage it deals
Innards Out Poliwag line (and drizzle for politoed of course)
Victory Star Starmie with Laser Focus and Prismatic Laser
Soul Heart Luvdisc; Pixilate/intimidate Snubbull (available on route 101)
      Reckless Tauros with Head Charge
Tentacool line with Tangling Hair (renamed to tangle) or water bubble
      Grass/Dragon Tropius
Moody Sunkern with seed bomb by lv19 and if that doesn't sound overpowered you're absolutely correct, but when it eventually weather ball, synthesis and solarbeam, and evolves into a Sunflora with the ability drought we'll see who's complaining frankly
Hoppip line without offensive moves til it's Jumpluff but with stunning support ones all along, and also symbiosis ->Prankster (or Chlorophyll)
Sand Stream Spiky Shield Shore Up Sandslash (that's nearly alliteration)
Queenly Majesty Nidoqueen and King's Shield Nidoking, or if you don't like that you can have them with both Poison Touch and Poison Point simultaneously with a new ability called Poisonous
not to mention Flame Body now additionally offering Typhlosion the same 30% chance for its own contact moves to cause burns.
Feraligatr with bite moves causing critical hits every time
Pidgeotto has Delta Stream or No Guard
Hariyama is a beefy special attacker with special versions of moves like Reversal and Revenge.
Girafarig turns EVERY battle it's involved in into an INVERSE battle!
Lunatone sets Gravity on switching in, and more.
    • The balance is good. I've tried to make it so that almost every Pokémon has a point at which it's one of the best available to you, and I've really let some loose. Switching things in and out of your team is really rewarding! There's a pastebin of all moveset, ability and base stat changes that comes in the zip file.
    • New moves! Armor Break, Constellate, Puff Up, Time Warp, Metallurgy, Factory Waste, Electroplate, - and more!
    • New TMs!

---HMs are now at least decent, and each have a niche somewhere---
Much as I understand that weak moves are not bad for the game, forcing the player to use them means they have less fun. HMs should be at least usable when they are obtained.

Cursed body now disables attacker on contact 100% of the time
Friend guard protects the user from crits
Having Magma Armor makes you resist rock moves 4x more than usual

Misty terrain now reduces the damage of dragon type moves used BY those on the ground. Previously it reduced the damage of dragon type moves used against those on the ground.

A comprehensive list of all Moves and Ability changes comes packaged up with the rom, along with the .ini (for pge, if you want to make your own tweaks), the patch notes, and a patch to revert the type chart change. Enjoy

    -------------------------

This rom is complete, and has a full postgame, but I still occasionally update it with new features or maps to keep it as good as possible! If you look through the thread you'll see it's hunky dory until about page 6, where I apply a massive update too fast, and then get into a bad habit of repeating the feat. This rom is no longer getting major updates to its engine, moves, or storyline, for your sakes as well as mine! I'll still be tweaking the balance and adding in new routes, to keep it fresh for whenever you return, but there won't be anything radical. I'll also be putting out patches every month or so, just to squash bugs.

    Secret stuff!
    Spoiler:

The second bike is located on route 129, on an island to the east. I'm sure you can find it, even though the itemfinder's not picking it up!

Island Tickets in Mt. Pyre (Ho-oh/lugia) (walk past the gravestones in order), Birch's Lab (Deoxys) (check the bookshelves), Granite Cave (mew) (Tricky cycling, but doable), and rt 119 (with cut and both bikes, [email protected]). A guy in slateport makes these key items work. He's in the Harbour.
You get suicune off steven in mossdeep for beating the champion, rather than beldum, which is in the wild.
moltres, zapdos and articuno are gifts for beating the HOENN dex (the one with only the 200 basic forms or starter evolutions)
mew breeds with ditto, making mewtwo
Celebi is in petalburg woods in a little grove, lv15. Try going out and coming back in again
You will need Hyper Cutter and Cut to access the Lucky Egg on route 119.
You will need to extrapolate from 2 out of 3 braille clues to get a life orb in Pa'I Canyon
You'll also need to know how strength boulders work with mach bike slopes to get Choice Specs in Pa'I Canyon.
!ERROR in VICTORY ROAD: Warp outside of map. This is not a Bug, it's actually Flying/Normal.

    FAQ

    Spoiler:
    Where's Cut?
    Spoiler:
House to the left of the pokemon center in Rustboro

    There's a box in mauville?
    Spoiler:
Cross over the wooden bridge that's south of the Game Corner, and head to route 103

Where do I go after Flannery?
    Spoiler:
Petalburg Gym, but you may as well do some exploring beforehand. I recommend the desert, fiery path, and route 115!

Where do I get HM08 Dive?
    Spoiler:
Route 135, south of Mt. Pyre.

What's this Devon scope and where do I get it??
    Spoiler:
It's given to you on a bridge on route 120.

What's going on with this item ball!?
    Spoiler:
    Check "Secret Stuff"

Why cant scyther learn cut wth??
    Spoiler:
For balance reasons!!! 60 power bug stab with Technician, 95 base attack and 90 base speed is like having a Mew with Megahorn! I know it seems really really counterintuitive. Making Cut grass type would still be too strong on Scyther, not to mention boring: you can get Bullet Seed already! If you come up with a good way of fixing it, let me know.

    Why isn't Grovyle a dragon!?
    Spoiler:
Sceptile is Grass fighting because I think Defiant is the coolest early game ability there is and I wanted to chuck it onto something thematic. It also gets access to hype stuff like sacred sword, low sweep, mat block, and other ninja shenanigans that really make it feel like a kickass forest dude.

Grovyle/Sceptile don't look like a traditional dragons at all. Dragon's generally a very weakly thematic type, which is why most of its moves have the word "dragon" in the name rather than something interesting. I think Dragon is frankly around too much; heck, I'm still not sure if I like Charizard as a dragon type, let alone a straight up lizard like Sceptile. So while yes, it'd make them "better" in the sense they'll be stronger, I think you'll like Fighting type more.

    Known Bugs:
    Spoiler:

-Contests are removed while I nurse them back up to health
-Briney acts up in some roms due to oddities from patching. Please beat brawly before leaving dew ford, and remember to heal in poker on centers straight after using Briney's ship just to be sure nothing messes up.
-the battle frontier is kinda balanced but not really
-odd thing with black sludge in double battles, comedy gold visual bug
-battle engine's text boxes are best described as "inaccurate"
-some moves have the same animations as others
-mega drain and stored power have odd descriptions
    -footprint guy doesn't block you
-if you seem to have warped into a black screen via a staircase, that's not a bug, you are in an invisible maze. You can make it to the end if you do your best!

Hope you enjoy! Please do drop me an honest rating out of 5 when you're done <3

Seems cool. Interesting that this wasn't put into the sideshw showcase. I'll probably give it a try.

        Wait, what's the sideshow showcase?
EDIT: Oh, gotcha. Yeah, that is a grey area. It is actually more than just a 386 difficulty patch, I promise! The story progresses through routes in a slightly different order, and like I say, every route and city got a few tweaks, and so did every pokemon. It's like pokemon BW versus B2W2 level of changes.

edit 2: this post has aged badly lmao, I moved it to the sideshow showcase in like June, cause the storyline is nearly the same as emerald. I'd rather promise less and impress than promise more and disappoint

I do like it overall from the looks of it. Not gonna lie though, while on one hand the move/typing etc changes will make the game fresh but I kinda sorta dislike this as well.
Highly appreciate slight changes in maps and overall higher difficulty. I might try this hack later.

Can you please provide another download link to the patch? I can't seem to be able to download it on my android browser and I don't want to download their app.

This looks great! you should think about patching in some mega evolutions tho, there are some pretty easy battle engines you can just apply with a patch, but you might have to mess around with offsets since you've already added a bunch of stuff

EDIT: btw, this is gonna get taken down p soon, you're not allowed to link directly to a rom file, you have to link a patch (ips or ups)

Just to warn that there IS swearing in this hack, caught a female Nidoran and it mentions the F word in her pokedex entry.

Why people insist in putting swearing in Pokemon I have no idea, but that's just me.

It's oddly funny having to veto a whole slew of my own dex entries for old edgy teen humour

EDIT: FIXED THIS!! ITS RUDE FREE AGAIN LADS

Wow is this polished so far. I'm really enjoying the way you've utilized the basics of the game to the fullest instead of needing to artificially add features or anything like that.

Any hints for the condition for Splash to work?

I'm really sorry to say that Splash's move description of "deals huge damage under certain conditions" might just be a cheeky joke; Splash still does absolutely nowt! Have fun with hoppip!

EDIT: just patched out some expletives I missed. There were never any in the main story text iirc, just in the dex cause it's the oldest. Magikarp is also no longer called magikrap. If you bump into any more, hit me up #KeepThatERating

Dive is on route 135, south of Mt. Pyre on the town map. There's a girl with pink hair who gives it you. Should I put in a few more things pointing to her?

I feel like I might give this a try, if you keep on working on it. I do like difficulty patches and ones with the complete pokedex but I feel like you could try to add more features like mega evolutions or BW repel system which are in a lot of new rom hacks. It does look good though, I have been waiting for some Hoenn updates like a sequel or made in the DS style and this does look like what I've been asking for. You may want to check out Pokemon Ruby 2 and Sapphire 2 in the Progressing Hacks thread.

I agree with BW repels, although I really think the random encounters give routes a lot of feel. It'd be an improvement, though, so I'll probably chuck it in next time I inevitably update lol

I thought about Mega evolutions, and I think they're unnecessary. If I just chuck them in, it'll screw the difficulty unless I put them in postgame, and much as I've done some charming price reductions in the battle frontier I really doubt anyone will keep playing on once they beat wallace!
Then, even if I bash and tweak them into a less powerful shape, it turns out that megas are essentially less fun than a thunderstone evolution. The only difference is that you have to click more stuff in battle and you have less customisation options because your item slot is gone. If I wanted to add in a mega banette, I would instead change banette's base stats and ability, or do it as a moon stone evo. I'm definitely not going to do this, I don't think it adds anything positive.

In my mind, this hack's virtually in it's final state. I might get myself a moves and abilities patch and make use of that, but honestly there's more than enough different strategies to use already, and I don't think it needs more. I also have uni commitments! I'll wait until someone plays it and says it needs more variety.

Give it a shot though, I bet you'll have fun! Thanks a bunch for the recommendation.

EDIT: Credit to danny0317 and Phenom2122, what absolute machines, I now have the full BW repel system working ingame!!!

This looks great, playing it rn on mobile. Is there an extensive list of pokemon, move, and location changes sitting around? It would probably be very useful for people like me who enjoy knowing why you recommend so many normally crap pokemon.

The only issue I see in the screenshots is the blue-roofed gym, which looks ugly as hell. Otherwise, this looks pretty neat! I like how you make the grass bridges. Pretty interesting.

Yeah what's up with that? Been thinking of using Porygon2 in this hack since its one of my fav pokemon but I don't want it to..."devolve" after one level.

Where can you find Porygon anyway? Not sure if I reached that point yet or passed it by mistake.
