Heya. You may remember my ugly mug from hacks like Emerald Tier Shift and FireRed Advanced, both hacks which are pretty decent I guess. But have you ever wondered... what if they fused? What if they combined and created an offspring more glorious than either? What if there was FireRed Tier Shift Advanced?

Well, I have no answer to that question because that's not what I'm here to showcase today, but I do have something that I think is pretty neat, in my opinion.

Ladies, gentlemen, and deeply appreciated nonbinary friends, I present to you...

Pokémon Emerald Advanced

So what's new?
Spoiler:
This hack is somewhat similar to FireRed Advanced in that it's a dex-replacement hack, with a brand new Hoenn Pokédex of 250 Pokémon from generations 1-7. Some favourites from FireRed Advanced make their return, like Fur Coat Furret, Fairy-type Pixilate Delcatty, and Grass/Fire Drought Sunflora, while others are new to the scene, like Strong Jaw Mightyena, Corrosion/Regenerator Garbodor, and Darmanitan with Zen Mode that doesn't suck.

Another thing this hack has in common with FireRed Advanced is that, while difficulty has generally been increased, my goal wasn't to make something soul-crushingly difficult, it was to make something enjoyable to play.

Unlike FireRed Advanced, though, there are significant changes to Hoenn as a whole. Tons of NPCs have been edited, giving Hoenn a fresh feel. Many major characters have had their dialogue totally overhauled. One of the major unique features of the hack is that the Gym Leaders and Elite Four have completely switched positions. I won't spoil who's moved where (though you can check the documents if you want to know), but most gyms have been completely overhauled with new puzzles and challenges to fit their new leaders. There are a few new areas to see, too- the upper floor of every Pokémon Centre, which formerly contained boring link stuff that nobody cares about and I don't feel like bothering with, has been converted into a convenient lounge where you can take a break, meet some amusing characters, and occasionally get some nifty stuff. Shell out money to an Egg Vendor in Rustboro or grab some brand-new healing items for your team at the Verdanturf Café, or check out the gift shop on the lower level of the Oceanic Museum.

Of course, there are also plenty of other features. 85 total TMs are available (and they're of course reusable), and the battle engine has been updated to gen 7 standards, with all that implies. Fairy-types, physical/special split, moves and abilities and items from gens 4-7, all that good stuff.

Also every single Pokédex entry is custom made and they're worth reading I promise

General Advice
Spoiler:
- Every available Pokémon is viable. Yes, including Delcatty. Yes, including Corsola. Yes, including Luvdisc.
- Visit the second level of Pokémon Centres.
- Talk to NPCs as often as possible.
- A few beach routes, like Route 106, have dark sand where you can encounter wild Pokémon if you don't want to surf or fish.
- The in-game trades are extremely worth it, although only one is available in the current beta.
- The move deleter and move relearner have swapped places, so you can get rid of HMs in Fallarbor.
- Don't stress over stone evolutions, they continue to learn moves after evolving.
- The "Detailed Dex" document has all the info you need regarding the Pokémon available.
- Altering Cave opens up after defeating the third gym, and the Desert Underpass opens up after beating the fifth and getting the fossil from Mirage Tower. Both are worth visiting.
- Talk to gym leaders after battling them.

To-Do List
Spoiler:
- Finish the game, obviously
- Fix what bugs I can
- Maybe edit the title screen?
- Postgame?????
- Possibly a challenge mode for people who like to suffer
- That's basically it

Known Bugs (Please Read Before Reporting)
Spoiler:
- Misty Terrain doesn't prevent Yawn
- Lum Berry has a weird activation message for certain statuses
- Pokémon don't evolve upon level up from capture EXP
- Catching Mimikyu in its Busted form will have it remain busted until it's entered battle at least once
- The AI doesn't understand switching after one of their Pokémon faints (they'll always be sent out in the same order)
- Burn hasn't been updated to gen 7 standards (still deals 1/8 HP per turn)
- If you close the game without saving after challenging the Battle Tent, your Pokédex data will be totally cleared; easily avoided by saving immediately after challenging the Battle Tent
- The Battle Facilities as a whole behave weirdly
- Draining Kiss and Parabolic Charge act like dual-type moves, Fairy/Normal and Electric/Normal respectively; they're resisted by Rock and Steel and ineffective against Ghost

- Dunsparce in Altering Cave can sometimes hold Nuggets for some reason
- The size comparison graphic in the Pokédex hasn't been edited yet because it's stupid and I hate it
- When you obtain a TM, it only tells you the number, not the move contained within
- Match Call dialogue has been edited, but I haven't painstakingly gone through all call dialogue, so I would appreciate reporting any dialogue that's wildly out of character
- Some major trainers will have Pokémon of the wrong gender, just ignore that and assume they're gendered according to how their trainer refers to them
- If any of you make any kind of "did you just assume its gender" joke as regards the above point I'm going to personally kick your ass

* Bugs written in red are issues with the ROM bases I used and thus I probably can't fix them myself.

I found a pretty annoying bug. I bought a bunch of the ev reducing berries from the vendor in slateport and none of them work for some reason. My torterra and Totodile's EVs cant be reduced so I am unable to reset their stats to EV train them.

EDIT: Found another bug. Magmorter is genderless. Might wanna check all of the pokemon who normally evolve via trading to see if they dont change chender or something. May as well check all pokemon for that point as well.

This looks pretty neat.

When you say the beta goes up to gym 5, does that mean the rest of the game is the same as vanilla Emerald, or that you can't progress beyond there?
You can't progress beyond there, there's an invisible barrier blocking your path.

EV reducing berries are because I reordered the berries in the bag, I'll hopefully have that fixed for the next beta. Magmortar's gender will be fixed in the next beta.

This hack looks awesome. Do you think you can add BW2 Repel system and XY Capture Experience Gain?
Both are implemented already.

Play through the beta and I actually had ALOT of fun playing this.

If I could have some kind of word: I recommend having elemental stones somewhere near the 4th/5th gym. I was using a pikachu and right around the 4th gym, it started struggling a lot to the point where i didn't even use it at all.

Also how will you be able to get alolan raichu? I saw it on the list and I was just curious.

In Altering Cave, you can obtain either a Leaf, Fire, Water, Thunder, Sun, or Moon Stone, at random. You can save just before picking it up and reload until you get the one you need.

Alolan Raichu, as with the other Alolan forms, will be obtained via a trade.

Fantastic game so much enjoyment great job man, but im stuck in roxannes gym with the second puzzle i can't solve that **** for life plz help me ;-;;-;
Second puzzle as in the Lairon? Its solution is one of the screenshots in the first post.

I have a couple of questions, how do you get the Dawn and opal stones, and how do you get the jangmo-o line?
Dawn Stone can be obtained by Rock Smash. The Oval Stone doesn't exist, Happiny evolves at level 15. Jangmo-o appears as a rare encounter on Jagged Pass.

Ok thanks, most romhacks just put the dragon at the same place as bagon(at the end of the game) so I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to get jangmo-o and his evos.by the way does anyone have any recommendations for what my team should be?
I've got a couple of possible members for the team:
Happiny
Popplio
Venipede
Nidoran?
Skiddo
Ralts(will be a gallade)
Espurr?
Jangmo-o
Also,I think you should put the available Pokemon(in the version you're on) so people don't get hyped up for a Pokemon just to realize it's not in the version they're playing. Sorry for the essay!

@FireReaper95- This hack has no multiplayer features.

Been a while, hasn't it?

Never been a massive fan of Gen 7, in fact I despise most of the Pokemon it introduced. However I can overlook that because this hack looks really really good. Can't wait to see it finished and potentially have a hard mode ;)
