100 or 300 new Pokemons?

So I watched the Japanese Rotom Dex video, and I found there's a 1% showing up, while only 3 Pokemons (starters, you all know that already) were seen and only 1 Pokemon was caught.
Using some very simple math, I had the idea that there might be either 100 (around that, most likely,) or 300 (hopefully xD) new Pokemons to the Alola region.
I would add an image and a video to make this less boring, but I've just joined this community and this is my first post, and because of the 5 post permission thing I can't.
Now, I have to add, the game footage is not final, so after all, this might be completely changed, but I guess we'll see. For now we've got theories and speculations, which are kinda fun.
    So what do you think?

I kinda want a middle, so like 200 lol ? xD
Because Kalos was a very small region in my opinion and wasn't very fun at all :/ , so I hope we get more content/Pokémon in the Alola Region so the journey can be full of more new surprises ^^

I really hope that there's an abundance of well designed Pokemon in the new games. I'm hoping for around 200, but I'll be happy with around 150 if the new Pokemon are cool and fun to play.

Kalos I think was the biggest region size wise, or second biggest (in that case Sinnoh would be the biggest).

    I'm expecting 118-120 new Pokémon.

200 to 300 new Pokemon!!!??? That won't happen. I'm pulling for 150 new ones though. Gens 1 3 and 5 have a bunch of new Pokemon with less focus on the older ones. 2 4 and 6 have less new pokemon with a bunch of evolutions and mega evoltuions of older pokemon. Hopefully we get a bunch of new ones this time around. I'm sure they're gonna have a bunch of new megas but I would be okay with only a handful. Save that for Gen 8!

300 would be way too much, but I'm hoping that we get more than 69 (which is what we got when X and Y came out).

No matter what the number, I hope there's some variety with the types and lots to choose from.

Glad to read all of your opinions :)
Yeah, 300 Pokemons is way too much, and it's going to make the "catch 'em all" theme nearly impossible.
However, lots of people hope to see many new Pokemons after gen 6 which had a very small amount of new kinds Pokemons to show. After such a low amount of new Pokemons, it would be a bummer if it happened again, only in order for the "catch 'em all" to still be possible. So I think the Pokemon company are trying to bring us to a whole new place with too many new Pokemons, to keep us interested and into the game.
They won't go for 300, that's almost for sure. But around 127 is probably what they're trying to go for.
Let's hope we get an acceptable number of new Pokemons for the Alola region, with cool designs or good use. Thanks for leaving your opinions!

I can tell you that it isn't nearly impossible, even with 1000 pokemon it would still be fairly easy, especially if you have finished the dex in past regions and use this site to trade.

I love new pokemon, I completely fell in love with BW with it be my favorite region now. However, I feel that 300 is way too much.

My quess is at most with will get 110 to 130 new pokemon, not including forms or megas.

    Over 9000.

Generally, though, if they want a few throw-backs and such, they might not want to add that many and hence shake up the Pokémon thing. They could use the next games for that, rather than exhausting it on this one.

Even numbered generations tended to introduce less Pokemon than the odd numbered generations so I'm likely expecting a lot of new Pokemon. Somewhere around 130 would be a solid number.

I would like evolution of old pokemons like Jynx and Mr. Mime to keep it with Pokemons like Electabuzz, Rhydon and Magmar who got an evo in gen 4. Same thing with pre-evolution like Miltank and Tauros getting one that branch depending of the gender.

The pokedex includes things other than new Pokemon.

    Like?...

You do realize, that we had "Coas-Dex, National-Dex and so on"-Split for the past Pokedexes, s it could be the "Rotom-Dex" includes all the new Alola Pokemons, which would sum up to 300. which I highly doubt, but math doesnt lie!

What do you mean by "other things" ? like, why would it be 100/300 ?(id rather say 100, because iirc the pokedex counts, as you CÀTCH a pokemon, not when you just see it) Are there only 100/300 pokemon in alola? - nah, so this must be some sort of "partial-dex" as we've seen in the past (xy, oras)

    Salute

The more new Pokemon we get the higher chance we have for rushed/bad designs so I'd rather prioritise quality over quantity. I'm more interested in them shaking things up with the story and features they give us. 1000 new Pokemon wont prevent the same old formula from feeling stagnant.

I'm hoping around 130 or so. More mons can be good, but if that's the case, then there would be a higher chance of these new games being just only new mons, and I really want variety.

Hoenn I recall introduced around 135 new Pokemon so it would be nice to see a new Pokemon roster be around that big again because I felt it was not too much but not too few either.

Plus the Hoenn dex also had around 67 or so old Pokémon too. So it was mostly new, with some old favorites unlike Unova's BW dex.

Like you said, Hoenn (and B2W2 Unova) was a very balanced regional Dex so I hope the Alola Dex will go along that route especially if it's split into four sections which will likely mean a larger regional Dex than Kalos.
