    Hello all,

    Upon returning to PC for a little break, I saw the giant swell in postcounts and moderators, and I had this thought for you guys to try out.

    1) Archive. Yes, from what I remember, PC was running smoothly when I joined. Now, it lagged to around 30 seconds per page load on DSL. Some people might realize that fact by the time PC had its 1,000,000th post (congrats to you all about that, by the way). You really should archive it in a completely separate site, like GamingForce did. That way, the forum can start at a clean slate, and running at full performance. Think about it: Who cares about the 1,000,000 posts that existed over the last 500 some days?

    2) Redefinition. Forgive that really sophisticated word, but it came to me that your forum no longer discusses about Pokemon as a majority. This forum is like a "life" forum. Chit-chat all over the place. It looked like 500 MSN windows piled up into one DCC thread. So why not redefine the forum like that? I truly believe that your forum would be the top of the net if you change to that.

    Just my 2 cents. You may ignore my presence. XD

    Pc is perfectly balanced in my eyes.So I don't think we should change anything.

    I got yar points, Uncle Fixi, but... Let me just coment.

    The separate forum is a nice idea, I see no cons.

    That would totally lost the point of it. This IS a Pok?mon forum, like GamingForce IS a Gaming forum. Now tell me, isnt there an Other Chat section there too? Well, PC is 75% Pok?mon Forum, not 100%, because we cant live on the same food~ =P

    And thats me stealing Fixi's 2 Cents... xD

    Yeah, but considering the amount of posts in Other Chat, it's really not that hard to see. What do we have...200k posts in the Other Chat section, 150k in Communities, and 100k more of others? I only see, as a collective, of an estimate of 100k in Pokemon-related posts.

    Archive idea sounds alright.

    If you want pokemon stuff go to the pokemon areas.

    There are off topic areas but they are actually legit forums.

    If all we could do was talk pokemon most people wouldn't still be here.

    A lot of people (including me) wouldn't come here if there was no OC, even if they are Pok?mon fans.

    The problem with this is, PC is linked to a few Pokemon sites as their message board, so it probably would be best to keep it like that. As for the first idea, seems good.

    The lone-site idea would cost a considerable amount of money, not to mention that it'd require a separate vB license.

    As for the Pok?mon theme… well, if people don't want to talk about Pok?mon, then we can't force them to. It's called free will.

    Well, maybe I put my argument the wrong way. What I think is you should expand Other Chat a little. Say...give it a Birthdays section, a Daily Chat section, a Rants and Raves section, and such. The thing is you have to lower the assortment of threads a little, and organize it.

    nice ideas and suggestions.. but as stated the archiving would present a small problem... we may look into it after we get enough money to buy an owned lic for the main site, and the donations are still coming in.

    we'll let the mods and staff discuss OC - perhaps some better oganization can indeed be reached..

    I would hate very much to see the pokecommunity turn into somthing other than pokemon. If we used a free system like phpbb we could connect it to our database and have it serve our archived threads.. does it really take 30 seconds to load with DSL?

    1: If you mean like move everything right now into an archive then I think it might kind of kill PC. If there was some way to move it after maybe 5 or 6 months then yea that would be good. But moving everything right now would be like a clean restart (like we moved from the old PC to the new one) and a lot of members wouldn't like it.

    2: We can't help it. Like Kwesi said it would be bad if Pokemon Community turned into something other then Pokemon. I myself don't go to the Pokemon forums much (and never post in there) and that's where I started Modding. No one can make me go in there and start posting. And a lot of the members are the same. The only way I think we can turn it to have more people talk about Pokemon is remove the non-Pokemon forums. But if that happens lots of members will leave.

    I shouldn't really judge, seeing as I'm on dialup, but lately, I'm getting pages that take anywhere from 30 seconds to a couple of minutes until they even start showing up. x_X; A phpBB export sounds nice, although I'd prefer something like SMF instead, but that's just me. ^_^;

    I like PC the way it is. I think there is tons of Pokemon things to talk about though. I can see where your getting at with the MSN thing though...xD

    meh, PC is a chat forum already anyways. redefining it would do nothing. and to get rid of the lag, how bout scaling down the maximum picture size in sigs? I see HUMONGOUS pictures everywhere... this place must be absolute murder on dial-up users! (of course, for my suggestions I shall be unpopular with the members here, but whatever)

    Actually, I'm a victim of the uber lag, yet I have signatures disabled. o.o; I agree that certain signatures are way too large, but if you wish to discuss that, please start a new thread. ^_^;

    Fixen- OC already has a Birthdays section, but I can see what you mean. The forum would become bigger with a DCC sub-forum, but frankly, I'd rather keep all that kind of discussion in one thread, because let's face it, it would become full of spam (look at DCC right now, the people in it are nuts =P). If we were to make it a sub-forum, then I think the rules should be changed so that the odd discussions that occur in DCC right now wouldn't occur there.

    First idea i like,but IMO youre looking in the wrong place. Like was mentioned earlier, some ppl have massive graphics in there sigs. I make an effort to keep mine short and clean. And I am a fellow 56ker, although hopefully not much longer.
