Hi guys i am ARKA9 with another tutorial THIS IS MY FIRST
Well, i didn't find any bootscreen editing tutorials for fire red on the forum so, I decided to do one.
For those who don't know what a boot screen is :-
We often ignore editing the bootscreen and keep our focus on editing the titlescreen.....but we have to edit this stuff too so, let's get started...
What you will need:-
1. Graphics Gale
2. Irfan view
3. UNLZ.gba.exe
4. Sphere editor
5. APE
6. NTME
7. FSF
8. Drawing skills
9. *PATIENCE*
Step 1. Making an image
Step 2. Making a Tileset
Step 3. Making the raw file
Step 4:- Getting the pallete
Open your titleset in Graphics Gale and click on small arrow on the right.
Click on save pallete and save as .ACT file (NOT .PAL)I mean it
Step 5:- Finally Inserting it
Final step :- Fixing the colors
Open APE and open your ROM in it.
Type 00402260 in the offset box
Then click Edit>Changed Pallete>Import and locate the .act file
It should look like this.
Click on Replace and check out your ROM
RESULT:-

Step 1. Making an image

Make your image in graphics gale which is actually a image editor...(you can use photoshop or other alternative). The image should be 240x160 pixels (not more than that)
So when you make a new image (File>New) then set the properties to this:-

Well, it's not quite good but still.....
Step 2. Making a Tileset
Spoiler:
Open up Sphere Editor (not sphere.exe but editor.exe)
Click on File>Import>Image to map and select your image
It should look like this:-
Some popup windows would come up
First of all asking where do you have to save the map.....save it in your desired folder/drive
Second, asking tile dimensions:- set width to 8 and height to 8
Third, asking that "do you want to remove duplicate tiles" click "yes"
After this, click Open>Map and locate your map file.
Then you will see this:-
All you need to do is to adjust the tiles window and select all tiles like this:-
Goto the tileset tab and copy the image
Goto Irfan view and paste you ur image.
Goto Image>Decrease Color depth> And select 16 colors
Save your image (this is your tileset)
Click on File>Import>Image to map and select your image
It should look like this:-

Open up NTME
Click on File>Open Tileset and locate your image
Click on File>Open Tilemap > From sphere RMP file and locate you RMP file (the map which you imported earlier)
Don't forget to select FR LG/TS under "Preset Sizes" drop down menu
It should look like this:-
Then save it as RAW file.
Click on File>Open Tileset and locate your image

Then save it as RAW file.
Step 4:- Getting the pallete

Open your titleset in Graphics Gale and click on small arrow on the right.

Click on save pallete and save as .ACT file (NOT .PAL)
Step 5:- Finally Inserting it

Open your ROM in Unlz.gba.exe and goto 207
In another window open FSF and find free space upto 79000 bytes...
I got these offsets:-
71A23C
71A23D
Now in unlz.gba click on
Import and locate your tileset
Click on write to ROM and check "automatically fix pointers"
and in the image offset text box put you offset.
Then click OK
It will show some popup information.
Click next and you jump to 208(Obviously 208 comes after 207)
Click on file>load raw and locate the raw file
follow the same steps for insertion with a fresh offset.
Lets check out our ROM
Aww... The bootcsreen is just black
Don't worry we still have some steps left.
