New types of spinoff games

We have a few spinoff series, such as tournament-style games on the Wii, Mystery Dungeon, Rumble, and Ranger. And of course, Pokemon Go. But what sort of spinoff game do you think we are going to get next, if it at all? Do you think they're going to revive another spinoff, such as Pokemon Dash or Trozei, instead of making a new one altogether?

I've been thinking but I'm not really sure what the next one would be. We have one where we play as a Ranger, the other profession we've seen in the Pokemon world, and one as a Pokemon. Maybe a game where we play as Aaron back in time with Lucario, when there we no Pokeballs? Or maybe one that includes locations that are movie-only, like maybe playing as Keldeo trying to become on of the Sacred Swordsmen. Not really sure, but was wondering if you guys had other ideas!

I feel like the Pokemon spin-off titles are used mainly to use Pokemon characters in genres apart from their native gridded RPG. So, if we want to predict any new Pokemon spin offs, we need to look at what genres haven't been covered. So, what genres have not been covered?

Considering how stuck the franchise is in certain things, that'd be a long list. Genres not covered so far include but are heavily not limited to:

    * Metroidvania style platforming - come on, this is a staple of pretty much any Nintendo-allied franchise.
    * FPS - I think this can be made to work well, even if it will be closer to, say, Mass Effect than to Medal of Honor.
    * Tycoon / civilization simulation games - this would be truly awesome to have, maybe we can manage a wild Pokémon colony.
    * Action / active RPG, something like the Final Fantasies. Fighting Legendaries like how high-end bosses are fought in Final Fantasy VIII / IX / XIII, with the ominous latin chanting and actual world destroying attacks instead of "lol, Tackle" would be truly awesome.
    * Horror / survival, something like Silent Hill.
    * Flight simulator. Or alternatively a submarine simulator or a game that plays like Ecco the Dolphin. Because why not? (Also, Pokéringer)
    * Dating simulator. I really can't believe Nintendo is not even trying to cash on this money cow.
    * Strategical combat - something like the ol' Age of Empires thing and that way we can revive that awesome backstory war in Movie 8.
    * MMO. It would require quite a progressive treatment, but but I think it is much doable if the company doing it accepts beforehand it's not going to be any sort of short-term win.
    * Wide open sandbox. The closest thing we have is Pixelmon (Minecraft with Pokémon elements), I think, but it's quite far behind.

Of those, the only ones I see as likely in the short term are strategical combat and tycoon-style game. Maaaaaaybe flight / diving simulator, because that gives the chance to give screentime to mons that really haven't been able to have it (marine or flying Pokémon in Pokkén when?)

But what we are all hoping for, is that MMO with all the regions. Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

I think the best Pokemon spinoff would be an MMO and the NX would be able to provide this, it would seriously give Pokemon even more hype and please a lot of fans. It wouldn't be easy to make but give it to the right developer and the amount of time they need and the NX sales would skyrocket imo.
