False Spoilers and Leaks

    Recall all those fake spoilers & leaks about the new games/generations before their release, do you remember any of them? How accurate/close were they? How far off were they? Do you wish some of them came true?

    Recently I found some screenshots of photos that were spread around instagram before the release of XY and boy, you wanna see this:

    I couldn't believe they were leaked a few months before the actual reveal. I really liked Popplio's final evolution, but I kept my excitement hidden until they were confirmed.

    Well, we just had the Chinese leak before S/M came out predicting a lot of things right. Off the the top of my head on things that were proven false was the Alolan water-type Arcanine, fighting-type Alakazam, fighting/flying Dodrio, and I think the leak mentioned something about a dolphin pokemon being included. I would have loved to have to seen all that included. (particularly that Arcanine)
     
    I don't tend to get too involved with the whole leaks business, cause quite often they don't turn out to be true, that being said the Alolan starter's final evolutions show that sometimes we can get truthful information way before it's revealed, but there's no way to know for sure I guess.

    Ah I definitely remember that piece of art. I always rooted behind them being real from the get-go thanks to that "Confidential" label on it, and when everyone told me they were fakes I didn't believe them. It was this pic alone that solidified Popplio as my choice, especially after initial fears of taking a creepy clown route which could have made me switch to Rowlet. Thankfully I stayed with Popplio, because it was recognised officially as the least loved Water starter in Pokemon history and I love appreciating the underdog. Rowlet was already the most favoured Alola starter and this pic sealed its fate as the most chosen Alola starter, making it the first time the team that favoured Grass won the regional starter war.

    Speaking of a "real" fake leak, I recall a Bug/Dark spider leak during XY pre-release. Man I would have definitely wanted that type combination, but I guess we'll be waiting for 8th Gen then.
     
    The starters in that fake CoroCoro scan at the beginning of the news period for Sun & Moon was pretty convincing. It's a shame too because they're actually really decent designs along with the protagonists.

    Why oh why the ideals are just scrap and not put into final product or they have too much to put before release the series. The victory road ideals are also scrap away and not releasing it.
