    We are at war
My fellow poke fans, we are in grave danger. The internet nutrailty act is in danger of getting repealed. If it gets repealed, the IPSes wil be able to charge us for useing sites. It will slow down the forum and may lead to its end. Join the fight to keep the internet free.
I thank you for your time.
    Reply if you care
(I know other countries will not care but, come on)

Been following this for awhile now. Our representatives are so bought off that I don't even know if our voices will be heard. But I visited the link and signed anyway because it is still the right thing to do. Thanks for the info.

I'd love to care but I have no idea what I can do as an outsider. If it gets accepted in the US it's likely other countries will follow.

Edit: Sorry but I had to come in and edit my comment after rereading the article and also reading a couple of more articles about this subject. I'm realizing now that I'm not so sure I actually agree with this petition (which makes me feel silly since I already signed the petition despite not having read enough about the situation).
I'll come back and edit this further after I read a bit more on the subject.

    Spoiler:

Net Neutrality is definitely something worth fighting for, even if it doesn't affect all of us on PC directly (myself included). That said, I'm going to move this thread over to our Science & Tech section, where it can be better discussed over there.

Even if you're not from the US, this still does affect you. The decision coming forth on December 14th could be grounds for influence on similar deregulation of ISPs in other nations. Additionally, many services that you use (including PC) could be at risk because their services are hosted here in America, who are bound to American laws (even for international consumers/users), in addition to the fact that they could be slowed down for simply not paying up server-side.

I'm so scared that this will happen, I signed. We need to make our voices be heard. I already know that if this will become a thing, it'll affect ISPs in other countries as well.

The internet is an essential part of this generation, and if it gets taken away or severely restricted, people won't be able to do stuff like communicate, share their favourite things, and get voices heard. If Net Neutrality gets repealed, I will have no choice but to call it quits from this forum and lose all those people who I became friends with, and that's hard considering this is a six-year-old account.

Best of luck, those of you in the US who signed the petition and got the support for your local Congress members. Hopefully you guys win and not that dickheaded piece of acid named Ajit Pai.

    Today is the day!

I really do suggest that if you haven't already done so, to take action now! You can help fight by clicking the link in the OP, or by also texting Resist to 50409.

I did the text a letter yesterday to my two senators and my congressman, and what it does is you type the letter, and then text "done" when you are done, and it faxes what you typed to your legislation in Washington.

Net Neutrality vote is now being discussed. Let's hope the people win and that Ajit Pai gets kicked in the face.

Edit: And we have officially lost. Fuck you FCC and Ajit Pai.

I am in America and it is not over untill the sun sets on the west coast

As a High School student, this really hits hard. My school is heavly dependant on Google to do things like send important information through Gmail, create class pages through Google Sites, heavy use of Google Classroom and so on. This is truly a rough day for us in the US.

There one new hope: there is talk the courts will strike back
This is very true. I've been hearing talk that the FCC is gonna have SEVERAL states - like a third of the country - suing them to defend these protections. They shouldn't be able to keep up with this many lawsuits.

I wonder if states can just pass their own legislation? I'm not big into law so idk, but would work for now. I mean all of my region (New England) was Pro NN, so why can't we pass laws so ATT & Verizon can't assrape us.
