4kids TV to end 12/27/08

Can I ask something, was my beloved Fox Kids the england 4kids? The one that changed to Jetix. Oh god, it's coming back to me now. Fox Kids, my beloved Digimon shows (I don't like them that much now, but hey, when I was younger, it was the only thing I really liked other than Pokémon)... then havin ghte afternoon dominated by Jetix, then... nothing. Jetix was on non-stop. I adjusted of course, but I never saw Digimon ever again.
 
uh, I think it already ended long before that cause around 2007 I flipped to the channel during the time the shows were supposed to be on, and they weren't on
 
I've heard a lot of bad things about 4Kids. The only anime that they dubbed that really stands out in my mind is Mew Mew Power (a.k.a. Tokyo Mew Mew), and that was absolutely horrible. However, I suppose it's possible that I missed out on some good things from them.

Yes they do have some good things to them. The have pretty decent shows such as TMNt and others but you won't hear about those because it's all about Japanese animé. >.> People act as though it's the best thing since sliced bread. So you'll only hear about how they butcher those shows barring Pokémon and Winx (Which is from Europe IIRC).
 
To be honest, if it wasn't for 4Kids, we wouldn't have the Pokémon we were introduced to in the late nineties and early new millennium. They'll still be around, they just won't be doing what we normally expect them to do. They're placing a couple of baby steps in the video game market and they've made toy airplanes modeled after those of the British RAF (coincidentally, I think I have a couple which have been licensed by them).

Of course, I never liked the way they censored anime to the point where it came from protecting the sensitivity of the west to being simply ridiculous. I'm sure any anime fan can speak for themselves on this matter...

Are they also the ones to blame for changing the voice actors in the most recent episodes?
I mean, geez, they could have at least chosen voices that were remotely similar to the originals.

In any case, I actually like Winx Club (though I hardly ever watch it), and I watched Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! faithfully for years. Though, I haven't seen the originals of any of the aforementioned, so maybe my opinions would differ if I had...XP

actually Capt. Couch, the very first channel Pokemon was first showed on was Kids WB, not 4Kids
 
I only ever watched Pokemon on Kids' WB (well, more specifically I watched it faithfully when it aired on Kids' WB; I've seen some of the newer episodes on Cartoon Network), but far be it for me to dispute a claim that I'm not 100% sure about...xDD

But still, Ketchum and Sketchit?

No it was a new company that changed the voices in 2006.

Acually it was the upn that the show was first shown. :)
 
So did it get canceled or not?
 
Omg I totally forgot that Kirby was one of those shows >.< I always liked that show including Sonic X and all the other old shows of Fox Box *sigh* a lot of things went wrong after that.....

*points to self* Yeah, their treatment of the Yu-Gi-Oh! series is just terrible (well, some other anime fans might note One Piece, but I don't really watch it (I suppose because of 4Kids' handling of it)). Well, I admit, 4Kids did a DECENT job (I use that term loosely) dubbing the original series, despite the scene cuts, a few terrible lines here and there, and the infamous lawlinvisiblegunz edits. But GX was handled pretty poorly, IMO, what with their needless name changes, changing the music to some "guitar" riffs and stuff that just wasn't needed, and not accurately using the translated dialogue. They started to incorporate some of that in the middle of Season 3, but it was a little too late. And now, 5D's, which is a great show in Japanese, is getting ruined by the episode in the same way. Although the music isn't as bad (it's DM-reminiscent), the voice direction and selection, along with the unneeded edits and often-useless card showcases, just suck. I wish someone would be able to rid them of the license, but it hasn't happened yet, unfortunately. It'd be nice if they actually tried to release uncut episodes, but that's doubtful, too.

But I digress. 4Kids got rid of their block on FOX, and FOX replaced it with advertisements. A sad move indeed.

I didn't quite necessarily mean the TV channel, but rather the company itself.

Though I can't really applaud them on too many things, 4Kids didn't do too bad with the Kirby anime. For whatever reason, that cartoon just makes me laugh...
