A fully 3D world

This is a remake of a thread that was from a few months ago btw

So, as we've see so far the overworld of Sun & Moon takes a huge step forward compared to the previous entries of Pokemon, in that for the first time we have overworld models of trainers now being fully proportional and the locations now being more fully rendered than ever, with movemenet also being more free as opposed to the grids of previous games.

While we had 4th Gen bring us 3D in the overworld and 6th Gen going complete 3D, it also shows that Sun & Moon are breaking free of the usual roots of chibi-sized sprites and grid movements, showing how far Pokemon is advancing into becoming more realistic with each new generation.

That said, what do you think of the graphical advancements with the overworld in 7th Gen? Are you liking that trainer models are now fully-proportioned and move outside of a grid? Do you like how realistic the new graphics look?

I'm interested to see how they approach overworld design without the trappings of a grid, that's for sure. Trainers, for example - will we just see them spinning in place?

    ...that'd spawn some weird headcanons.

These graphics put gen 6's to shame (I'll probably be saying the same thing about these games once gen 8 comes out :p). I honestly didn't even think non-chibi models were possible for the game, and I'm glad I got proven wrong.

I really like the proportions of the characters, they feel much more realistic. As for the graphics, they still look great and Alola really highlights them well. We've only seen a portion of the Region (and islands) from the trailers and the areas are looking nice so far!

I agree with the opinions shared so far. The graphics as shown in the trailers have so far well surpassed 6th Gen, even the battle scenery looks crisper and more vibrant than ever.

Also, like Blue said I felt Game Freak wouldn't have the capacity to have fully-proportioned models of people in the overworld but they proved to push the boundaries and it paid off spectacularly. I can't wait for more footage of this game because it has been winning me over a lot.

Personally, I enjoyed more as Game Freak tried to push the 3DS graphic department to its limits, and it shows, since I have no idea that I can see trainers in their full proportional shape until today, and I can consider it as a full improvement for Sun and Moon, not to mention the nice details of the overworld, how trainers are shown to give orders to their Pokémon, and everything in it, it looks very smooth!
