A Pokemon MMO

    (There really isn't a place that I can put this...so, let's try here.)

    Has anyone heard any news lately about a Pokemon MMO? Are they planning on making one? This was posted in May of 2008:

    Noooo, the developer of WiiWare title Pop, has said it's in the process of pitching a Pokemon MMO to Nintendo.

    After the relative success of its WiiWare game, Noooo has listed a number of ideas it's pitching to developers. At least one of which involves Nintendo.

    "We have a concept for a cool Pokemon MMORPG," the development company has posted on its website.

    While it's highly doubtful such a small company could develop the product, there is the possibility that Nintendo will buy it out and supplement its workforce.

    That is, unless Nintendo isn't actually working on a Pokemon MMO. Given the obvious possibilities of wandering around challenging players and collecting Pokemon, we'd be surprised if Miyamoto hadn't got a few people locked away somewhere working on it.

    Interesting! I would die if one were made. :] I really don't see why it hasn't been yet. It'd be perfect as an MMO.

    If a Pokemon MMO were to come out, what are some features you'd want to see?
     
    There is a really cool one in creation.. But it's not from Nintendo, i can't add the link in this post so if you want it send me a personal message. :)
     
    I've played a few fan made pokemon mmo's. They are ok, but well you can't expect too much from a fangame. I'd want it 3d and what not, not like the gba graphics which is what fan games seem to use. Knowing Nintendo if they ever made something like this it would be p2p which would pretty much remove a whole heap of players.
     
    Eh, Nintendo will rule the day they make a Pokemon MMO.
     
    I don't know WHY they haven't done this yet but I think it'd be massively successful..if it's like the gameboy games but online. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
     
    Ok, here it is:
    I was talking a bit with some people on my school, and everyone said that Pokémon is the same since RGB series...
    The gameplay was the same freaking thing for ages... I think is time to change that.
    I'd like to see Pokémon as a MMORPG, that's the kind of game that fits best in the Pokémon universe. That would be REALLY fun. A lot of people would join the community if that game is out.
    I'd like to see Pokémon in a World of Warcraft fashion:

    Character customization:
    Choose region, hometown, phisical appereance, psychic points for diverse abbilites, choose class (Trainer, Ranger, Researcher, Aspiring Leader).

    Pokémon:
    Wild Pokémon should be available like mobs in World of Warcraft. You should go around an chase a Pokémon whenever you want, or avoid it if you want.

    General Gameplay:
    3D WORLD, LOTS OF MINIGAMES, new ways to make/spend money, instanced dungeons with Legendary Pokémon as bosses, several questlines.

    These are my two cents.
     
    I would totally love for there to be a Pokémon online game. I would definitely play it (ONLY if it wasn't too much for younger kids). The idea sounds fun; but we'll see if Nintendo actually makes it, or comes up with the right idea.

    I just hope that's it's not too expensive, or doesn't need some sort of subscription. :x
     
    Nintendo already annouced that they are making an MMO for pokemon for Wii and will be released in the Summer of 2009. It will also have a new generation of pokemon too. ^_^
     
    It's not the only way of making an ultimate pokemon game, but it is one of them.

    Got to remember in MMO's, naturally you are automatically put into a world of hundreds of other people, all interacting with each other. Although Nintendo shows it wants to get everyone playing together, the online side of things seems horrifically overprotective from what i have heard on the Wii and DS consoles.

    For this reason, i don't think we'll get a Pokemon MMO in a long time, or ever and if we do, it mightn't be what we expect of a true Pokemon MMO.
     
    I would want to play it, but my parents wouldn't let me unless it's free. Probably. x3

    sounds like a good idea accept one thing... exactly how would the battle system wrk... because if it were similar to WOW then EVERYONE would have multiple pets and it would be a tedious game i like ur idea accept i thnk wen u encouter the mobs they should make it so its like pokemon collesuem or somtin. and for rangers and stuff u could use ur mouse to control the styler.
     
    Hrmm. The thought of a Pokémon MMO sounds pretty awesome.
    These are some of the features I would like to see;
    - A whole new region to explore, although if they included all the other regions, it'd still be pretty awesome.
    - The ability to trade and receive Pokémon from DPP
    - Keep some AI trainers around, Just to keep the game interesting
    - IMPROVED AI DAMNIT. I hate Nintendo for giving the trainers crappy AI in all the previous games.
    - Customiseable Looks [I think that one should be pretty obvious]
    - Someone Mentioned "Chasing Pokémon around if you want it" - I reckon it should still be like the old games, where you encounter them in long grass.. But instead, like a "Random Battle" sort of style. Of course, Repels would still be available. If you had people "Chasing Pokémon around", it would grow to crowding of areas and major lag.
    - Well, if it was on Wii, perhaps you should be able to take pictures like you can in Pokémon Ranch.

    Anyway, these are just what I would like to see.. If nintendo delivered a game like that, I'd buy it quicker than a heartbeat.
