If remakes of the 2nd Gen games are ever announced, would you continue on with your project? Or would you cease production?

I've been wondering this for a while(a few months now).

I know some have come a long way(Shiny Gold), while others are just starting.

Edit: Well, it's confirmed that they are remaking them, Calling the remakes Heart Gold and Soul Silver.

Funny question, as on Sunday there's going to be an announcmeent that should hopefully be the announcement of GS Remakes...

I was saying this to a friend on MSN, and I have said it a few times on these boards, but I'm hoping this new game is a G/S/C remake.
It will be great for fan games.
    It might introduce:
    New Tiles
    New Features
    New Overworld sprites
    New Menu and interface graphics.

All the fan games will most likely want to look like these games (which of course won't be a bad thing) and will adopt these new tiles, features and so on from that list above.

So fingers crossed it is a DS platform game (meaning right size to be ripped from) and heres hoping that fan games will get a jump in quality, since everybody will be motivated by the new official games.

Supposedly, they're introducing a few new features too, including upgrades to the breeding system (notched-ear Pichu, anyone?). These should be interesting to implement in a few fangames, too.
    Dibs on being the first!

    New Tiles
Given the way the engine works in D/P/Pt it seems highly unlikely that they're going back to sprite based tiles again so I doubt there'll be any adoption of official graphics other than the overworld sprites themselves, in which case we'd have to create completely new tilesets to go along with them as they're most likely not compatible with current styles much like D/P/Pt to FR/LG.

In regards to the new tiles, I'm pretty sure any new graphics will be ripped and edited so that then can be used in fan games and hacks. I'm assuming it will be a small transition like Platinum tiles to Diamond/Pearl tiles. Look at how everyone has some form of D/P/Pt tiles (like auto tile such as water or grass)- so its a safe bet that this new game will have 'em and fan games and hacks will have them in some form.
    Edit:
Also, there will be projects like kyledoves project too, so this will provide fan games with the look of the tiles too.... so therefore- new tiles.

Unforunately yes, Now it'd be like if I was making Pokemon Diamond. People wouldn't be interested because they can just play it on their DS whenever they want, instead of starting up the PC and playing it.

Tbh, my vote has changed, I may continue with my remake in the future, if i'm bored or have nothing to do, but for now I'll keep working on Pokemon Twilight.

For anyone who knows about Pokemon Twilight, I've started again as my maps were too square and the events lacked any excitement.

But back on topic. I hope that people will still continue with their remakes as I love the Gold/Silver series, and people are still making games based on Kanto, so why not Johto?

Yeah, I'm planning to continue work on my game, even if it might not end up being a complete remake. There's a few things I'll be taking liberties with, and I might be working less on it as time goes on, but I want to finish it up because I'm not one to leave things unfinished. Besides, HG/SS are going to be DS-gen games, so it'll be fun to recreate G/S/C using RSEFRLG graphics. XD

I know this question would be asked eventually. Although I really don't see why to even ask such a question because if the developers are dedicated to finishing their game/ hack/ etc.. then they will continue it. As for me, i've already started making tiles based off the latest footage. Everyone will see what i've been working on real soon ;).

As far as it affecting supporters I have to say not so much, at least not as far as I am concearned. Personally the only reason I play fan games/remakes is for the differences. I like seeing what other people have added or taken out. I love the creativity of fangames/remakes and most of the time playing one inspires me in some form or another. Im sure that the remakes will be great but fanmade remakes will have differences.

Edit: Also as far as Zel is concearned I hope he continues his hack its great and I loved it (What Ive played thus far)

This is funny, I was making a remake of gold and silver (you can see sprites on my Deviantart page), until I got news of the remakes.
I stoped, because I didn't want to be critiqued on how mine is nothing like Game Freaks/Creatures Inc.
