A Team with a Snorlax Theme!

    Introduction:

    I really miss the old days of ADV when Snorlax was a much cooler way to special wall (as opposed to boring old Blissey). In D/P, Snorlax lost power that I never thought it could. That being said, it is vastly underrated and not really prepared for, and can wall 90% of special attackers out there.I decided to make a "Snorlax Team" to give Snorlax some much-needed love. With Thick Fat, Heatran is actually easier to beat with Snorlax than with Blissey, and gets a free shot at paralyzing the incoming pokemon with Body Slam.

    Snorlax does die to special fighting moves though, so I decided Dusknoir would be a good option to wall those, especially coming from the likes of SpecsLuke. Hippowdon was added to wall physical attackers and as my rock resist, and Bronzong filled in most other weaknesses I had to worry about. This walling squad covers each other's weaknesses pretty well and they can heal themselves.

    However, many walls (especially Steel walls that don't mind toxic) were a problem, so I decided to put in Starmie to Rapid Spin and destroy Steel walls with low special defense, like Forretress and Skarmory. Garchomp was added to take care of Grassers (go go go Fire Fang!) and take out anything that could use rest to make toxic useless (making setting up pretty easy for Garchomp). Garchomp also benefits from Sand Veil.

    So your job is to add a lot more pokemon to the "problems" part of this RMT Thread. It's a new team of mine still going through testing, but at 20-3 it hasn't lost many games.

    But I'm open to anything since I'm actually quite uneasy about this team, so tear tear tear it apart.

    EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
    Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
    - Earthquake
    - Ice Fang
    - Slack Off
    - Stealth Rock

    Pretty obvious Hippowdon lead sets up Stealth Rock and counters lots of huge threats, like Electivire, Rampardos, Aerodactyl, and Tyranitar.

    Dusknoir @ Leftovers
    Trait: Pressure
    EVs: 252 HP / 76 Def / 180 SDef
    Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
    - Toxic
    - Pain Split
    - Shadow Sneak
    - Fire Punch

    This blocks Rapid Spin if I must and is crucial to walling things on this team. Toxic is to sap health from opposing walls without rest. I'll take my chances with Heracross.

    Bronzong @ Leftovers
    Trait: Levitate
    EVs: 252 HP / 152 Atk / 8 Def / 96 SDef
    Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
    - Gyro Ball
    - Rest
    - Sleep Talk
    - Earthquake

    Bronzong absorbs status and also counters things like Weavile and Outraging ScarfChomp.

    EVs: 244 HP / 28 Def / 236 SDef
    Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
    - Body Slam
    - Crunch
    - Rest
    - Sleep Talk

    Nobody really prepares for Snorlax anymore, who used to be a mammoth threat. I'm bringing Snorlax back, and he does a great job countering Azelf, Gengar (unless it has Choice Specs Focus Blast, which Dusknoir absorbs).

    EVs: 172 HP / 216 Spd / 120 SAtk
    Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
    - Surf
    - Thunderbolt
    - Recover
    - Rapid Spin

    Spinner and kills lots of stuff with special attacks.

    Garchomp @ Leftovers / Lum Berry
    Trait: Sand Veil
    EVs: 16 HP / 252 Atk / 240 Spd
    Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
    - Swords Dance
    - Earthquake
    - Fire Fang
    - Dragon Claw

    Garchomp takes care of anything that might want to try to stall me out. Lum Berry is for crap that wants to burn me.

    Strategy:

    The way I'm trying to win with this team is fairly simple. First, I set up Sand Stream and hopefully Stealth Rock with Hippowdon. Now, damage will eat away at switch-ins. Powerful sweepers will be dealt with by whatever wall counters it best, and often times countering threats can be a group effort. As they are worn down by Stealth Rock, Sand Stream, and then attacks from my own pokemon and hopefully Toxic from Dusknoir, it will become easier to pick off pokemon.

    When the time is right, send out Garchomp, SD, and sweep. Anything faster that could threaten Garchomp will be picked off before attempting any late-game sweep, but Garchomp will hit things in the early game as well to help wear them down. All pokemon except Garchomp can recover off damage and stall for a bit while letting residual damage to really leave its mark.

    Any attempts to heal in the way of wish support will just be an opportunity to bring in and set up Garchomp, and obliterate whatever the opponent is trying to heal, or take out the wisher. I can also bring in Dusknoir and inflict the incoming pokemon with Toxic.

    Problems:

    Grassers, especially Breloom, have been really bugging me. Dusknoir beats it fairly well and Bronzong can absorb Spore, but yuck is it nasty on me. Tyraniboah has been somewhat problematic, especially when Dark Pulse is flinching the crap out of my only counter for the Ice Beam variant, Bronzong. Thunderbolt Boah is taking down by Hippowdon with good success. Bronzong can beat that one as well.
     
    Really nice team, only one thing cause i'm pesky. Why 16 HP for Garchomp, i'd rather it being put in speed than HP.

    240 gives 330 speed and 252 gives 333 and theres nothing in between those numbers it needs to beat, so its best to put it in Hp for survivability.



    Also Swords Dance Chomp kinda needs Life Orb aswell, it allows it to sweep better.
     
    Life orb would help Chomp but Lum berry is still good in general when he has no cleric.

    I like the snorlax theme team. Seems to be a very defensive team. Looks good tho.
     
    16 HP might help him survives Ice Beam.


    SubSeed Breloom is a big threat to this team.. it would be great if you could fit Celebi somewhere here. Also Megahorn from Heracross could really hurt you.

    nothing can make garchomp survive ice beam unless it was a focus sash.

    Double weaknes, with no sp.def
    Ice Beam will kill it if it is from a decent sweeper.
     
    from a sweeper yes, which it will just switch out of anyway, so that's a moot point. besides, it has enough speed to outrun base 100, which is all it needs.

    my major critique for this team: it is way to physical. you're going to end up in a lot of stall wars, and with no phazers on your team, you're making it quite easy to set up.

    either do something else with bronzong or dusknoir, or you replace them. dusknoir has access to calm mind and has decent special attack options. that's a very viable set to consider, especially if you plan to switch him in on physical sweepers, giving you more freedom with calm mind. i just wouldn't do it in your case cus you obviously need a priority hit and give it the ability to stall. so i suggest focusing on bronzong. bronzong can run grass knot and charge beam (with i definitely think you should consider), and flash cannon can actually do decent damage. i actually run a bronzong just like that, and dude, it sweeps. for bronzong, i suggest charge beam/grass knot/stealth rock/(flash cannon/hypnosis/light screen/explosion...etc). i included stealth rock because you really need hippowdon to carry roar. you really need and want a phazer and quite simply, bronzong is much safer setting sr than others.

    As for Garchomp, I'm not going to leave it in on something that can kill me before I can kill it, unless Garchomp really serves no other purpose anyways,

    Garchomp gets WoW all the time, which will guive me another turn to SD up while they waste a turn statusing me.

    I'm willing to change Bronzong...but out of curiosity, how am I supposed to deal with Breloom? Anything without Seed Bomb from Breloom Dusknoir will beat, even leech seed. But almost all Brelooms do carry Seed Bomb and I need help countering the beast.

    I'd be happy to replace Bronzong, as long as I can SR and PHaze as well as wall Weavile and Breloom.
     
    you can try Psychic on Bronzong instead of Earthquake, to handle Breloom... frankly I don't like EQ on Bronzong much because it doesn't let him hit what Gyro Ball / Psychic doesn't, and those are STAB attacks.

    I really like that idea...I also have options against Gengar if it so chooses to attack me.

    I dunno, I have no experience with CM Bronzong. I really do prefer healing though...it's just kind of something I put on all of my walling pokemon.

    Ah well...just, don't kill me too much for messing up that set.
     
    The beauty in Bronzong is that it doesn't have to sacrifice a Sp.Atk or Atk nature. You can still use Gyro Ball and Psychic with some EV investment and function pretty well against some of the biggest threats out there.. like TTar, Yanmega, Gengar and Breloom. Restalk can work with these attacks.. I personally don't think Bronzong has the time to set up calm minds.

    Well, if my Lum Berry is gone, I doubt I'm going to take my chances switching it into anything that could burn it. After all, Snorlax is the best counter for Fire types.

    Garchomp is usually for clean-up anyways, since my wall quadruplets seem to stall stuff out and wear things down to wear Chomp can just murder them.

    Garchomp was actually kind of a filler to kill Grassers in all honesty.

    Good point, but once Garchomp switches out, the SD boosts are disabled. The very funny think I've discovered is that Heatproof Bronzong takes only half the damage Burn gives each turn... it's THAT in depth

    Heat Proof Bronzong dies REALLY fast once the foe realizes that EQ can take it out. Garchomp will laugh at Heatproof Zong.

    Lum Berry takes care of that though, and after that I won't take my chances at all.

    Get a cleric if your that concerned about burn, end of the Day Chomp needs a Life Orb to sweep, without it it cant even 2HKO Skarmory with Fire Fang, Celebi has already been suggested, Articuno, Dragonite even can use Heal bell effectivly.

    Snorlax can absorb status, and Bronzong...well...used to.

    I' not concerned with Skarmory. I'll hit it with Fire Fang and not do much, and I'll come back in later and predict the inevitable Skarm switch-in and go to Starmie right away.

    As much of a promoter of Clerics as I am, status doesn't really concern me.
