Wow, I didn't expect this to end up a SubxDub War D:
Adult Swim doesn't care for the Anime fans at all, they've said it before and they'll stick with it. Every Anime viewer in the states wouldn't even watch AS if we had another place to watch our Animes, but sadly we don't have many options beyond paying each month for a subscription to an anime channel.
As far as Adult Swim actually switching to subs, they didn't act like it was a joke, it appeared they were serious and just pointing it out as a piece of news.
You should have expected it.
You should have noticed the bump writers' sarcasm, because they really,
really lay it on quite thick. They do care about anime fans, they just don't want to admit it openly. I mean, the general sentiment has been there since 2005, if not much earlier. If they really didn't care, why did they allow
InuYasha to finish its run? Why do they keep reairing
Cowboy Bebop every so often? Why did they even bother acquiring
Fullmetal Alchemist,
Bleach,
Blood+,
Code Geass, and a host of other series in the first place? Also, there are anime fans who will still watch Adult Swim even if they had other sources, thus proving your fallacious generalization wrong.
As far as Adult Swim actually switching to subs, you'd think there would be confirmation from other sources, right? They'd drop reminders in future bumps to remind the viewers, right? Wrong on both counts. There are no other reliable sources that confirm that Adult Swim is switching to Japanese audio with English subtitles. Also, when that bump was done airing for the week, it was replaced with another, as per standard procedure; nothing even remotely official about a subs-only policy has been said since, in the bumps or elsewhere.
In short, Adult Swim will still be airing English adaptations. If you don't like it, either turn off your TV and resume fapping to voices you can't understand without the aid of faulty subtitles, or
learn to deal with your own native tongue. Foolish Wapanese.
