We're only nearly half way through the year, but we've already seen plenty of great albums by great artists released in 2010.
ITT: Your favourite albums released so far? What albums are you anticipating to be released later in the year?

Pendulum's third album Immersion ranks as one of my favourites so far. Although Drum & Bass is a generally simple genre, this album is one step above all the rest and is Pendulum's best, imo. "Watercolour" from this album is now my favourite song by Pendulum.

Although my favourite would have to be Janelle Monáe's debut album The ArchAndroid. Considering I never listen to soul or R&B, I'm surprised at how much I love this album; although Janelle puts a lot more lyrical depth into her music compared to most other pop artists. There's a lot of classical music included, aswell as some influence from rock music. It's a very diverse album, although still remaining an accessible mainstream pop album at heart. She definitely deserves to see success.

    Other albums worth mentioning:
Burzum - Belus: I hardly ever enjoy metal but I think Burzum is just far above the rest of the black metal bands.
Gorillaz - Plastic Beach: Not their best, but definitely some great tracks on here, such as "Empire Ants" and "Stylo."
Massive Attack - Heligoland: Again, not their best. But "Flat of the Blade" and it's remix "Bulletproof Love" are amongst my favourite Massive Attack songs.
Yeasayer - Odd Blood: A very 'different' band, there's nothing else out there quite like them. "Ambling Alps" and "O.N.E." are two great songs.
Peter Gabriel - Scratch My Back: I've always been a Peter Gabriel fan, and he's covering songs by other great artists such as Elbow and Arcade Fire with nothing but his voice and an orchestra on this cover album. A different take on a lot of great songs and although I actually prefer the original songs in most cases, his covers are also great in their own way.

Albums supposedly to be released later in the year that I'm looking forward to:
Skinny Puppy - In Solvent See
    Radiohead - Untitled
Daft Punk - Untitled (I know they're composing the score to the movie 'Tron Legacy' so I guess that's what this is, if they're counting it as their next album)
    Interpol - Untitled
    Nine Inch Nails - Untitled
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Untitled

I literally only own one album that has been released in 2010, purely due to a lack of funds. "Hang Cool Teddy Bear", the new Meatloaf album. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. It's the best he's done since Bat Out Of Hell IMO and the sound is very Brandon Flowers-esque which suits him very much.

Looking forward to a number of albums though. The Mars Volta have put there 6th album on hold because they think it sounds "boring" but the say they plan to release a live album and that should be a lot of fun.

Coldplay have a 5th studio album coming up that they've been recording with Brian Eno so this should mean a whole new sound for them, hopefully more rocky.

The new Red Hot Chili Peppers album should be a blast, they don't know how to dispoint.

In October the Manic Street Preachers announced a new album with the working title "It's Not War - Just The End Of Love". Hopefully this will be more experimental while retaining the vitriol lyrics and powerful riffs of "Send Away The Tigers" which I felt their last album "Journal For Plague Lovers" lacked. I've always wanted to see them live so a new album will mean a new tour and that's good enough for me!

As for Radiohead, I adored "Harry Patch - In Memory Of" which was a return to a more soulful sound as opposed to the annoying clunking of "In Rainbows".

"Don't Say We Didn't Warn You" is the new Does It Offend You, Yeah? album and its release date is TBA. The best part about it is they are rumoured to be collaberating with my favourite band Muse on a song or two and the two sounds fused will be epic.

With Rage Against The Machine returning from hiatus we may see a new album appearing soon after, but probably not in 2010.

Anyway those are the releases I'm most looking forward to, but there are more.

Valleys of Neptune was pretty good. It's Hendrix, what's not to love? Besides that, there's not much... no, that's a lie, there's literally nothing else I've enjoyed this year.

Although, like the above poster said, I'm also looking forward to the new Chili Peppers' album. It'll be weird without Frusciante, though.

I've enjoyed quite a few albums that have been released so far this year.
    Kelis - Fleshtone
    Gorillaz - Plastic Beach
    and too many to count.

    I am looking forward to

    Miley Cyrus - I Can't Be Tamed
    M.I.A. - /\/\ /\ Y /\

and the releases from Lady GaGa, Kelly Rowland, and Kanye West for later this year.

As far as albums i've heard in entirity go; Gorillaz was alright, I like MGMT's new one (Dunno if my theme gave that away at all), LCD Soundsystem's recently leaked and has some good tracks on it, Foals' new album is decent as is Vampire Weekend's. Delphic's was okayish, and Hot Chip's album was a disappointment, but then I wasn't really expecting much.

I still need to hear Pendulum's, but i've been hearing good things about it. I also need to hear Crystal Castles' new one as i've liked the few tacks from it I have heard.

I'm looking forward in anticipation to hearing Klaxons, Hot Hot Heat and Mystery Jets new albums when they eventually leak. Arcade Fire, Kele and possibly Interpol's forthcoming releases have been placed on my "possibly interested" list.

"Don't Say We Didn't Warn You" is the new Does It Offend You, Yeah? album and its release date is TBA. The best part about it is they are rumoured to be collaberating with my favourite band Muse on a song or two and the two sounds fused will be epic.

I didn't know that! Glad to hear, can't wait tbh.

    Burzum - Belus

Hahaha, that's awesome. Honestly, I wasn't expecting anything new from Varg. That album must sound good since he had all that time to think in prison. I'm definitely gonna look into it.

    Anywaaaaay..

Poets of the Fall - Twilight Theater
Fear Factory - Mechanize, because Byron Stroud gets my thumbs up no matter what he does. Not crediting him for the entire album... he's just cool.

That's about it tbh, because I'm following a generic complaint here, "Their old songs sound better." Yep.

    As for upcoming..
Iron Maiden - The Final Frontier
Black Label Society - Order of the Black
    Grave - Burial Ground
myGRAIN - TBA... well maybe. I'll give them another try. I only want to know if Tommy will still incorporate clean vocals.
Pestilence - Doctrine (or so I've heard.)

The Devil Wears Prada - With Roots Above and Branches Below.

That album by TDWP was released on May 5th, 2009. When I got the CD just about a week ago, there was a sticker on it saying, "the best band in 2010." or something along those lines. I don't know the exact words, but I know it said something about them being the best band in 2010. (my favorite friggin' band in the whole world, btw)

Picture of album cover in spoiler.
    Spoiler:

    Also, this is really the only album I have. XD;;

Probably nevershoutnever!'s What is Love? would be my favourite release so far this year, but I'm anticipating a lot.

All Time Low are recording and seem to think they'll have a record out by the end of the year, which will be awesome.
Panic! at the Disco have been going at this new album for god knows how long now, typical PatD! though, really psyched for their record.
The Cab are supposed to have a new album out this year too, along with blink-182, Patrick Stump.

Probably some new nevershoutnever! and Forever the Sickest Kids aswell, not sure though.

also, I just got a copy of Christina Aguilera's Bionic album and it is not nearly as bad as Perez and others made it out to be... I kinda like pointless music.

The only two albums that come to mind are...

    Plastic Beach - Gorillaz
    Congratulations - MGMT

I was extremely excited for the new Gorillaz album, but I didn't think it was that great. Still it was enjoyable, just not compareable to their other albums. Congratulations wasn't an album that I was in high anticipation for, but I was interested. Once again I didn't find it that great. If you pretend like their other album Oracular Spectacular never came out then Congratulations doesn't seem that bad. When compared to their other album though it was lacking.

Year of the Black Rainbow - Coheed & Cambria was also an album I was looking forward too. I also think this one is just okay. It didn't do anything for me either.
