3rd Gen Alternative Character?

I saw this video, & there was a cheat you could change your character to your rival & a few others, is this able to be done?

I doubt it, because it would have been known by now if it was and it would take up alot of game space i presume.

I believe it is done with a little device fondly known as AR.

The video you saw is obviously a hack.
