Keep in mind that a lot of the translations are close to the origanal Japanese ones. For instance, one might chuckle at "Coil" (Magnamite), but that's actually the Japanese name.

Hey, just so you guys all know (as some of you seem unaware)

OUR pokemon red & blue, are edits of Japan's Pokemon BLUE


Japan released Pokemon Green & Red, these were fairly buggy, and as is customary in japan, a new version of the game was released POKEMON BLUE.

At this point pokemon had sold a tonne over there and was released in the US as Pokemon Red & Blue, both based on the revision.

The character limit is due to the fact that Kanji is shorter than most english words.



This translation actually happened BEFORE pokemon Red and Blue got released here and has circulated around the globe MANY times since.
