Ok, so I just now noticed (because I'm working my way back up to the current episodes) that the animation style has changed. Of course I'm not used to it, but I'm not sure I like it. It seems more cartoonish, and less like anime. IDK, but what are everyone else's thoughts on it?

I like the animation thus far. Especially when it comes to attacks like Pikachu Iron Tail, or Air Cutter, and so on. It took a little bit getting used to Ash change in eye color, but I really don't notice it any more.

So because Ash's eyes are now properly colored the anime looks more cartoonish?

Yeah, well I guess my problem is I'm comparing it to season 3 anime. I'm watching through all 650+ episodes, and I'm at 141 now.

I dunno, the animation, especially lately with BW is becoming more like the animation used in the movies. Still not as good, but that doesn't stop me from being impressed with it nearly every episode. Pokabu's fire attacks, Pikachu's Iron Tail, and the way the characters are animated in general has all stepped up from the original style. I can see where it would take some getting used to, but if you've slowly adapted to it over the years, as the anime's style progressed, the changes don't seem like anything too big.

I don't see how it's more cartoon-ish, though. Since for the most part, the animation is cleaner, but the art style isn't too different.

That doesn't stop each saga from having its own unique little style. If I were given a screenshot of the anime I'd most likely be able to guess what saga it comes from judging from style, colors, etc...

If you ask me, the new Pokemon are what make the anime look "cartoonish" nowadays. It makes sense, considering the fact that Unova was intended to have a Western feel. The older Pokemon certainly gave off a more traditional anime vibe with their designs.

I haven't seen any of the new episodes, but i get what you mean because of the pics i saw on serebii. I thought the new animation was better. It looks way better, and actually a bit more colorful.

I totally agree with you. The only thing that bothers me in the new style is that the adult characters' proportions became more childish: their heads became bigger compared to their bodies.
