I felt this a lot of times watching anime. Whether I'd marathon it all or had to drop it after it after a certain point while it was airing.

Have you watched an anime that had a lot of potential to begin with and then just ended up getting really boring or you ended up feeling really disappointed by it as the series progressed and/or ended?

    Eotenas.
Yes, this will always be my answer. The second part is bad and everyone should feel bad for liking it.

    Tokyo Ghoul Root A
I guess if I consider this second half of TG. The whole season was badly adapted.

    ERASED
Pretty much same, the second half was way too predictable. I definitely enjoyed the first half, though.

    Akame ga Kill
I liked this, I really did. But White Fox's decision to pull original ending kinda ruined it.

Honorable mention: SAO Fairy Dance arc, but it did not do anything to me, tehe~

Assassination Classroom. Unfunny and really bad action scenes, with barely relatable blank slates and the only good scenes coming from Karma acting like we were told he acted (aggressive). "Character development" is something that doesn't exist in this anime. It crumbles when you force it into seasons, too, it seems.

ERASED, Akame ga Kill, Deadman Wonderland, Shaman King, Soul Eater, Pandora Hearts, Assassination Classroom, Kekkai Sensen....

    Gunslinger Stratos: The Animation
I really liked the concept but it was poorly executed.

    Mahou Sensou
MADHOUSE WHY YOU DO THIS TO ME? What even is plot. I thought this would have been something epic, but after every episode I just felt like I was forcing myself till the end.

    Tokyo Ghoul √A
I'm sure I just watched this because I watched the first season but what the actual heck.

    Devil Survivor 2 The Animation
Another thing which I loved the concept of and really loved the opening, but as everything went on it was just another thing to force myself through. I don't think I was able to finish it till like 2-3 seasons later. These games to anime like Gunslinger Stratos just attracts me but doesn't execute...

    Machine-Doll wa Kizutsukanai
Can't remember exactly, but I got bored and had to force myself through it...

    God Eater
    Just no.

Since this is "disappointing or boring" and not "outright crap" I suppose I can avoid mentioning the obvious ones of Madoka, Fate/Zero, Attack on Titan, Sword Art Online, etc...

Akagami no Shirayukihime. God, this show is so boring, I can't believe it warranted two seasons. It had an interesting premise and a vaguely interesting beginning, but all potential quickly evaporated when it devolved into a stereotypical "boy meets girl, boy likes girl, girl likes boy" sort of thing.

After an explosive start and breakneck plot, Dokidoki Precure ended up being incredibly disappointing after the mid-season finale, too. Half the plot intrigue was centered around Regina, and they took her out, brainwashed her, and tried to replace her with Cure Ace, who was an awful character. Watching Dokidoki week-by-week, I loved it...right up to that point.

Yu-Gi-Oh! GX and 5Ds both became this for me at points, too...with GX it was right around season three - I'm sorry, but the Supreme King plot was just BAD - and with 5Ds it was right after Aki lost her personality and turned into a schoolgirl. Both of them were extremely disappointing shows and I never even finished 5Ds because of it.

The less said about Gundam: Reconguista in G, the better. This turned out to be extremely boring; I can't believe I forced myself to sit through it all. The ugly as sin Eureka Seven art style (speaking of, add Eureka Seven to the "disappointing" crowd too) didn't help matters either.

There are others. I'd say a good 90% of the shows I've seen based on ongoing light novels or manga fit the disappointing category because they cut off just as things are starting to get good, and it ruins the whole experience. If it isn't finished, don't adapt it, for crying out loud.

Even though a lot of it could have been handled better it was fun and easily one of the best looking anime this side of 2000.

I was actually waiting until someone mentions this =D
I think it was actually fantastically original :D Like... they served something no one would even expect or want xD Only MADHOUSE could do that xD
