but on a slightly serious tone, since this is an swiss style tournament, im kinda glad pokemon wasn't nominated. since it is an anime tourney and we're on a pokemon dedicated forum, i would assume pokemon would DEFINTIELY get a lot of votes, this gives a chance for lesser known anime to shine in our tournament.

In the end, this doesn't dictate anything, just a popularity contest JA KNOW!

Not a lot of people watch Pokemon anymore so I think it wouldn't get a lot of votes :/

im not too completely sure of the members on this site watching the new stuff, but recently, I've been watching the sub pkmn, sinnoh league woo. and i suppose the dub has only so much to catch up on as well, they need to get volkner out of the way and its sinnoh league time!

besides the point, i guess we won't know this time around eh?
 
Other animes Tenchi Muyo, Kirby:Right Back At Ya, Shinzo, Rave Master, Tactics, and even Astro Boy I wouldn't have mind seeing entering the tourney either :3 but I couldn't remember a whole bunch. Of anime to nominate, although I'm sure most don't know what Shinzo and Tactics are anyway :<.

Yeah nobody but pokemon or digimon up for nomination xD. How very odd.
 
I can't believe there was FMA vs. Cowboy Bebop and then Ghost in the Shell vs. Baccano! right afterward. Talk about heated match-ups. I'm worried that FMA's going to beat out Cowboy Bebop (even though it's nowhere near as good, or as badass for that matter) just because most of the users here are too young.
 
I'm sitting here wondering how many people who've watched Fist of the North Star have watched 5 Centimeters per Second and vice versa. And here I was thinking 5cm/sec would win hands down.

I for one, am feeling quite sad that R.O.D. was paired off with Inuyasha and it's large fanbase...

Also, I abstained quite a lot because I haven't watched much of these ones.

I voted for Cowboy Beebop and i don't think it's cuz most users here are too young, it seems that most people that voted with their age on the name thing, are +14 years old.
 
Wow, I actually thought I would be abstaining a lot more than I actually did :P

My nominated series probably won't get much love, but those are the breaks when your anime preferences are so... out there xD
 
No big surprise that Kanon, Mushishi, Beyond the Clouds and Aria lost. I'm pleasantly surprised that Clannad came out on top of Higurashi, though, since I was sure Higurashi was the more popular and well known on this forum. I'm also surprised that Bakemonogatari lost to Moyashimon; I haven't heard of that show until now.
 
AAH I MISSED ROUND ONE WRRRYYYYY

Here are my feelings on round one:
Things that make me cry at night:
- Shaman King beat Azumanga Daioh!
- Nanoha lost
- One Piece beat Kanon 2006 (not surprising, but still)
- Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 beat the best trap ever
- Fairy Tale beat Hanamaru Kindergarten
- Spirited Away vs. Aria (though not surprising)

Things that were tough decisions (or would have been if I had made it):
- 5 cm per second vs. Fist of the North Star
- TTGL vs Durararararararararara!
- Spice and Wolf vs. Dennou Coil
- Clannad vs. Higurashi
- Mayoi Neko Overrun vs. Serial Experiments Lain (Lain was a no-brainer, but Mayoi was still a good series)
- Full Metal Alchemist vs. Cowboy Bebop (I actually would have preferred Cowboy Bebop here)
- Princess Tutu vs. Kuroshitsuji (I wanted Princess Tutu here, but at least it didn't lose)

Things that make me all hanya~
- Macross Frontier won
- Eden of the East won
- Fate/Stay Night beat To Aru [Majutsu no Index]/[Kagaku no Railgun]
- Cardcaptor Sakura won (BUT AT WHAT COST)
- Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu won
- Angel Beats! won

Here are my feelings on round two (so far):
Ef vs. Air: Going with Ef, Air was probably my least favorite Key work
FMA vs. Chii: Chii is highly underrated, going with Chii
Azumanga Daioh! vs. one of the less cool Gundam series: no contest
Utena vs. K-On!: K-On! was entertaining, but kind of meh
- Trigun vs. Fist of the North Star: Trigun was OK, but HOKUTO NO SHINKEN IS INVINCIBLE, ATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATATA
- Kanon 2006 vs. Kaleido Star: I hated Kaleido Star and I loved Kanon 2006, no contest
- Nanoha vs. FMP: no contest, even versus FMP
- Spirited Away vs. Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu: abstaining because I can't decide, also J would decapitate me if I voted against Haruhi
- Fate/Stay Night vs. Hetalia Axis Powers: Fate/Stay Night looks extremely interesting (though I'm going to try and get the visual novel instead of watching the anime), and Hetalia is quite meh, so no contest here
- Shakugan no Shana vs. Eden of the East: sorry Taiga-clone (or rather the other way around), EotE was just too awesome
- Evangelion vs. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: Y U DO DIS... abstaining because both are about 9/10 in my book (from what I've watched of them)
- Valkyria Chronicles vs. Hanamaru Kindergarten: Hanamaru Kindergarten is very underrated, and Valkyria Chronicles is, in my opinion, overrated
- Clannad vs. Macross Frontier: no contest, definitely Macross Frontier, but WHY DID YOU SET IT UP TO LOSE DIGI, WRRRRYYYYY! it's even more sad because the people who like Clannad would probably love Macross Frontier if they watched it
- Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 vs. Escaflowne: as much as I'm mad at Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 for beating out one of my series earlier, I absolutely hated Escaflowne, so I'll vote TM8.0 here
- Cowboy Bebop vs. Baka to Test to Shokanjuu: well, this is a close one, but I'm voting Baka Test because of Hideyoshi
- Angel Beats! vs. Mai HiME: no contest, ESPECIALLY SINCE IT BEAT OUT NANOHA, I MAD
- Cardcaptor Sakura vs. Shaman King: Cardcaptor Sakura shall avenge Azumanga Daioh! IT SHALL!
- Fairy Tail vs. 5 Centimeters per Second: no contest, especially after Fairy Tale beat one of the best underrated series in round 1

Less cool? I think it's one of the better ones. I mean, I didn't vote for it this round, but depending on its future competition and the fact that I've seen less than half of the series in the tournament I'll probably end up voting for it again.

This is a great pairing. I want to see Bleach vs. Naruto next.
 
It's unlikely, especially since Naruto tied and Bleach lost. It puts them into different W/L/D groupings.

Though I might make a bonus round after the tournament ends for "Classic Matchups" in that case
 
I knew Sonic X was going to either get paired with Naruto or Bleach this round. Had to abstain there as I don't won't to vote for Bleach and leave Sonic sad. Also Blood + vs Death Note was really something serious for me and I couldn't decide there.

This tourney has got me interested in watching the first episode of a lot of the anime partcipating. Ah I'm so ready for round 3. Oh and Bleach vs Naruto I'm sure people are going to abstain from that...I know I will. The anime for both of them suck anyway xD.

Eh, I wasn't a fan. Maybe I'm biased, though. I'm not a Gundam fan in general. Plus, against Azumanga Daioh!, there's no question.

Another person who couldn't choose. I ended up abstaining instead. Both of them are equally awesome, but in different ways.

Don't be too sure about the Macross matchup; Clannad is slowly but steadily gaining the "overrated" tag, much to my dismay as a fan who missed the hype and only watched it by accident. Though Valkyria Chronicles overrated? That's news to me since I haven't read too many rave reviews about it.
