    It's my birthday! Some time in downtown let me stock up on items, especially as I waited THIRTY MINUTES for the ever-late bus. At least there are PokéStops on every corner here. And as I was across from a park, some different Pokémon. A 649 CP Jynx escaped me as the lovely game froze, but I caught a Charmander, a Diglett, Jigglypuff, a Goldeen, and few more common ones. Amazingly, I managed to actually catch a few Zubats. I am awful, AWFUL at hitting them. Lord help me I just want a Golbat for the dex. I made it to level 17 finally, what a trek that was. Lost a bratty Squirtle on the way home. I feel like I'm seeing a lot more starters these days. Hatched a Geodude (my third what the hell am I picking up sleepy rocks instead of eggs?? at least I could evolve this one) and a sweet 409 Bulbasaur as I walked up to my house.

    A rather unkempt middle-aged man asked me if he looked okay. I told him he should buy better fitting jeans. A clown walked by the bus stop and gave some balloons to a small child, who bragged about it to her unimpressed mother for ten minutes. Saw some young kids playing PoGo but far more young adults, imagine that. A man in his 30s very slowly drove by me and told me I was pretty (thanks buddy). Gave 75¢ to a lady waiting for the bus and she told me about how her dad walked from the outskirts of Saint Paul into NE Minneapolis when the bus drivers were on strike.

    Went to a (surprisingly busy) diner in downtown at 1am! It is also a Pok?Stop. The owner, upon our arrival, told us there would be no playing Pok?mon in the diner, to which some other patrons objected. I guess they've had problems already? Which is ridiculous because honestly who would want to loiter inside a diner made from an old train car. So small, so greasy. Paying customers were not minded, however. Two other groups nearly got into a real fight which would have been crazy! But unfortunately we did not get to see actual adult humans acting like children on the playground. Got home from that, chased a Dewgong around the neighborhood and gave up when it started storming for real.

    One of my more enthusiastic friends came home from work around 7pm and dragged me around the neighborhood looking for a Fearow. We then dropped a lure on our neighborhood stop and chilled there while he did the lucky egg/evolution/lure/incense thing. Caught a bunch of fodder, nothing interesting. Met a teenager wandering by who was another Instinct, yay! He was level five, returning from a venture down one of the busier streets. Also saw a very pretty man with a swashbuckler aesthetic walking around. ;D

    tomorrow: group venture to a big lake!!​

    Dear god what a terrible morning. On top of all the Adult Life Bull****™ we went through, I missed a Rhyhorn and Onix and evolved and Eevee into my third damn Vaporeon. COME. ON.

    Afternoon, though! We went and hung out at a nice lake and caught mostly Magikarp and fodder. Played in the water, built a sand castle, farmed stops. Lovely. And my boyfriend proposed to me! Nice. I'm gonna be a WIFE. Ahahaha!

    We don't know if we're going to do the marriage or buy a house first​
     
    Noooo! Why'd you miss the Onix and Rhyhorn? :( And you know you can decide what the Eevee becomes if you give it a certain nickname right? :o Congrats on the proposal, very happy for you :)

    We were driving and the game wouldn't let me tap on them :( I did find that out about the nicknames but I was like UGH DO I HAVE TO but apparently I do because otherwise I'm just going to have an assload of Vaporeons.

    You can always name them back after they evolve if you want.

    Nicknames are much nicer in GO than in the games in that sense.

    Nothing happened. Except I finally caught a damn Jynx on the way back from late-night grocery run! Yayyy.

    We went to the mall to have dinner and see Ghostbusters and I caught so many damn birds and bats and rats good god. Nothing interesting at all. Very disappointing because normally there's some good stuff out there. I hatched a Gastly and a Krabby from some 5k eggs in a Wendy's drive thru; equally disappointing. They did give me enough to evolve to get a Haunter and a Kingler though so that's okay. Got a Jolteon through the nickname method too. Also I made it to level 19 and another 3/4 of a level through it off of all that nonsense!

    i got some gold medals too. what is even the point of them??​

    Thanks! I'm only like 4k away from 20 now too :D I put in a 3--? Eevee and got a 889 Jolteon. Way lower than my naturally 1139 Vaporeon came out unfortunately. I didnt think that Eevee was higher than the one that turned into Jolteon but maybe it was?

    Unfortunately for some reason Jolteon is just kind of bad :( Each Pokémon in the game has a different max CP it can hit and Jolteon's is for some reason much lower than that of Flareon and specifically Vaporeon. The rough CP gain for Eevee when evolving is about 2x for Jolteon, 2.5x for Flareon and 3x for Vaporeon, so hopefully that sheds some light!

    Mom left for Italy today so I get her car for a week, yay! Walked into downtown with Stella to go pick it up via the way with the most PokéStops. Saw a Dratini right after I failed to catch a Horsea with the last of my Pokéballs. Why must I suffer in this way? Found some Valor ladies beating on a Mystic gym and a cluster of small Valor boys with scooters near a Stop. Leveled up an Instinct gym just enough to stick my Venomoth in it. And surprise! Hit level 20! Yaaaay~

    As we got into downtown proper, a young guy in a suit obviously just getting done with work talked to us excitedly about the Shellder we were all catching. We were going to go chill in the part next to my mom's apartment building but there was a jazz festival happening. Super cool but too many people for me. So we just went to take a break in the apartment. A guy in the elevator asked us if we were worried about subliminal messaging in PokéGo and I told him the only subliminal messaging I could tell was "go outside". I just. What a strange thing to ask.

    While in the lovely air-conditioned apartment with wifi, we activated some incense in the hopes we would get more interesting Pokémon than we usually did. One of my favourite things about downtown is that the GPS goes absolutely haywire. Every time you drop back to the map screen, your character runs like three blocks. That is fantastic for Stop farming without actually going anywhere lmao.

    I caught a Magnemite and a few Clefairy, a Voltorb and a Haunter, a Shellder, and a few male Nidoran. And hatched a Ponyta on the way home yay!

    Congrats on hitting 20! Sorry about the Dratini but sounds like you got a fair bit done anyway haha. The subliminal messaging guy is... interesting - did he give any reasons or? XD

    Thanks! I figure we'll end up running into another one at a lake or something at some point. There are places we know spawn them regularly.

    Yeah I have no idea what that guy was on anout?? He disnt say anything else like. I was expecting him to be like "dont you think you should be worried about strangers (bc you're young women)" or something but no? he went with subliminal messaging? what
     
    I miss your updates Anna! What kind of stuff have you been catching recently? Have you been making much progress with your team? Did you ever find a back-up Dratini from the one that got away? :o
