hmmm, never have been to daily chit chat before, but if i want to get known, then, hi, i am con. NOT a new member!

i don't think that that rule is stupid, it prevents a lot of spamming thatall be done by people like me.

That is why new-mod Kura has written new rules forbidding posts like "hello" and "goobye" posts unless they also discuss something concerning the current topic. And she's done a good job at enforcing them too.

~*^*~~*^*~ ~*^*~ ~*^*~ ~*^*~~*^*~
That's what alot of my posts mainly consisted of. Okay that's all it said, but that's before the rule was enforced...I think. XD

Although you can't deny that none of us here aren't bored in some way.
So true. I'm always bored when I come in here.

EDIT: Stay on topic, con.

I felt the exact same way. I felt like I was an idiot for joining all the more popular people in their convorsations. At first I was like, "What am I doing here? I'm a noob!"
I didn't feel that way. I actually knew some of those "popular" people before I came to PC, which was a nice plus. I was more or less able to infiltrate convos without having someone yell at me.

That rules was in the other DCC's too. It just nobody payed attention to those stupid enough to post stuff like that.

Yeah, but Kura is actually reminding people of those rules whenever someone breaks them…

Like con who just said:

Even though the rules clearly say please stay on topic and don't just post "hellos".

I must admit that I was brutally kicked around at one point in a certain DCC @_@ Probably because I was an unwanted newbie who was somehow liked by some of the regulars but not a certain few. Though I can remember that clearly, I really don't think I would have stayed if it wasn't for that x.x

Oh Jack, you're being cocky ;P You've never had a difficult time at PC?

Well I didn't get yelled at, I just felt extremely awkward.

What's funny about that, aragorn, is that we were just talking about that.

Database error tends to split my one post into two; one that appears at the time before the error begins for me and one that appears after it ends. Posts can appear in between because the database errors tend to last longer for me because of slow connection.

I didn't participate much in the original DCC; I think I first made myself known on PC by discussing Super Smash Bros. Melee in there, but that's about my only memory. If one thing has remained cosntant in all of the DCCs, it's that a certain few members monopolize activity in it, and it's incredibly hard to become one of those people.

Now you made it look like I double posted~

I was on the top 15 a few DCC's back. But my activity in the Daily Chit-Chatting has waned because of it becoming SPAM FEST 2006.

Who remembers the first PC Get-Together? :3

Why are we only working towards the minimum requirement? Kura's list of rules write out what is the bottom line. It's great that we're catching anyone who is below the line, and bring them above it again, but why aren't the rest of us trying to shoot higher than this minimum requirement?

Just because our posts suffice in terms of the rules, it doesn't have the same meaning as saying how our posts are great ones that are entertaining to read for others. Maybe a reason why so many of us feel that only bored people come here is because the posts are boring to read.

Really, try to make the posts interesting. Add in more details if we can. Share more opinions instead of just "a small matter of fact for today." When you add in details and opinions, it opens up room for more dicussion by others. If anyone is willing to contribute and open up topics like this, then a positive domino effect is bound to follow.

That was almost a year ago, long before my troubles began. It was back when we still had seasonal DCCs, back when Ty and Gian were still here...

Mm, well you presented yourself very well from the beginning. Most of us feel awkward in new forum situations because of the unspoken nuances that come with conversation and interaction and their variance from forum to forum. Basically, we all liked you immediately >P

It's hard for most of us though, definitely. I didn't even really get noticed in the DCC until almost before I went into self-imposed exile, but found myself immediately acclimated when I returned, which was odd, as most people didn't remember o_O I suppose having a modicum of pre-existing confidence with DCC interaction was a boon to me, especially since this was the primary place where I befriended people before expanding my horizons to the level they were before I left. It's actually a very helpful place for learning the ropes at PC; of course most new people will annoy the regulars at first, but I know for a fact they become regulars themselves very quickly...half of you in here I wouldn't know existed if I didn't peek my head in here now and again.

This is why we need you in here; to properly demonstrate the kind of posts we should be making. Kaga brought you in just to put pressure on us to be good. That logic seems comical to me.

DCC wouldn't suffer for those improvements. And we can always point people to the FDCC if they don't want to comply with harsher rules. I was against Kura's rules at first, but I was probably in the wrong about that.

I wasn't even here for the original DCC, so I wouldn't know, really.

The monopoly over the DCC tends to change often. When I first joined in June '05, Eliana, Aleksandra, Alistair, and a few others were the ones who ruled the DCC. Then came Simon and the rest of the DCC Mafia (including myself), then Matt took over in a bloody coup. Now? We've got Ryan, aragornbird, Emma, and John.

I do not believe that I have given you the right to call me Matt, drummershuff is quite sufficient.

I'll take over the DCC one day. Just to please my dear friend Jack O'Neill. :)

The SPAM FEST isn't that bad, Paul, and it's not much of a Spam Fest anymore. O_o Except from occasional spammers coming in.

You must remember that we are a bunch a bored people looking towards a computer for enjoyment and maybe some relaxation and fun. Not for making details and educating people. I see that enough every day. Disscusions are sometimes fun, but not for everyone. One person's talk of Macs>Windows could not fun for those who like to talk about Chocolate>Ice cream and vice versa, if you get what I'm saying.

Jack: Oh, that~...*misses Gian* T-T

Hmm, Frostweaver should be mod of DCC because those are good ideas. The main reason why these threads go 10 posts per minute during peak hours is because everyone posts a lot; yet we don't have a lot to say. It certainly would help to include more ideas in the post. That's why I like Pokemon DCC. Much slower, but at least its better for actual discussion.

Also, hey Matt! I thought you stopped posting here. =O

That's very true. Sometimes when I come home from a tiring, crappy day, I just want to have a nice convorsation. Alot of the time I don't want to have long posts to read through, so I just don't read through them and look for something else to do here. XD

Or maybe good stuff to talk about is presented, but those don't know what to do with it....

Meh, I'd say it's okay because this is DCC. There are other topics on PC that merit better discussions, but this is just basically a thread were you don't really have to think much.
