Yeah, I completely realize that. In some ways, I really do support the idea of an 'Intelligent Daily Discussion' with post length requirements...and strict grammar/spelling rules.

It'd be a handy refuge, and we could enjoy a very spam-free enviroment. The only downside is trying to get rid of all the n00bs that would try to infiltrate. Jack's got all his military prowress though. He could be our commander. The of course Alan and I have FE experience, we could strategy.

Time for war >O

Why do I always advocate conflict? On some level I find that disturbing.

Ah, while I think that the 25-character minumum requirement shouldn't also be seen as the minimum quality requirement; posts of varying lengths are necessary for conveying different ideas, but people should at least force themselves to find a balance between being unnecessarily wordy and being too brief, linear, and one-dimensional with their posting whenever they find themselves in the middle of a quality conversation. Many conversations can go far longer than we allow them to if only we can generate our own ideas, thoughts, questions, suppositions, et cetera on the subject so people can create longer replies through being forced to address many faces of one issue at the same time. The back-and-forth of monotonic discussion just doesn't do anything for me anymore, especially after looking back at posts from the DCCs of yore. My post count is a scarlet letter that shows how shamefully lax I've been in the past; I have always strived for quality discussion when possible but as I've grown less and less patient with PC my posts have grown shorter. I think many of us no longer feel the need to prove ourselves through intelligence like we did when we were all new; we simply rest on our laurels to talk about the old days.

It's funny, I've found that we have intelligent discussion now only when we're lamenting the loss of intelligent discussion. We could be talking about any subject right now with the same thought that we're putting into this, but yet we linger on our problems instead of solving them.

Simply put, if everyone else wants go to to war against short posts, I'm conscripted >D

If your post is long, you should have a topic. I don't like the long post, but if they are good enough, you'll get a decent answer. I dont see the point of waging war on n00bs, considering that everyone is a n00b one in there pc life.

I think the exact same thing everytime this discussion gets started. Well put. XD

Speaking of Gaia and its spam, people just quote posts when they agree and don't even bother to put words in it - not that I haven't done that, too.

It makes me appreciate just how unspammy, unflamey, appropriate PC really is.

From what I've read, all I know is that you all are against noobs. O_o

Anyone care to explain?

They frustrate me. I know the saying, "We were all n00bs at one point." but I never seem to see n00bs "growing up" and becoming un-n00bish. It's like they come here to annoy us and then disappear into the dark regions of the internet.

No one, save you, has said anything about n00bs. We're discussing how lazy people have become in terms of the posts they make. Both older members and new. We're not waging war on n00bs. O.o;;

I agree with you 100%. Although when this started, I was trying to find a solution to it by showing people that it can and has been done before. I wish we could have intelligent discussion all the time as opposed to just when we reminisce about the past.

That's true. Alot of the 'n00bs' just don't seem to outgrow their noob...ness? I know I was a major noob, but I've actually taken the time to use better grammar nowadays. I tell you, though; the worst noobs by far are the Jeremy impersonators.

Why don't we just abandon the n00b talk before a flame war is started. We don't wanna get all DCC's closed. Pc is very strict when if comes to flaming.

Ugh. :\ This conversation looks like fun.

Megafuz, please don't spam~
Even if there's a topic going on, when you post satements like that, they're obvious and pretty much pointless because no one really contributes to this, they contribute to the actual topic

@@ It's kinda like pointless DCC Activity posts, but yeah

Don't do it again, kay?

o_o And yeah, guys, don't start a fight, kay?
o__o But yeah, try to even take Jack's advice to heart~ Lengthy posts with proper grammar and punctuation look a -lot- nicer and more professional than a one-liner~

Well to be honest I understand what all of you are talking about but we can't force PC to change that way. Most of the members here are at a young age so mabye we have to deal with it. x_x; . Alan, I ageee, this is a intelligent discussion.

n00bs will alwways be n00bs. I used to post like that. As long it can be understood and not like spam.

New person =/= n00b. Most of us in the DCC have not had unpleasant experiences early in our PC membership involving scuffles with the staff over our own inability to comprehend the rules. A n00b is, in short, someone who simply does not have the mental capacity to follow standards of netiquette, including but not limited to spelling correctly, writing in coherent sentences, and obeying the rules of the forum they are a member of. It is not at all hard to do these things from the get-go; a small amount of maturity is needed, but, if someone cannot possibly muster that small amount, than by all rights they should be excluded and banned. Intelligent discussion is doubtlessly a learned skill, and we are very willing to put up with anyone who is at the beginning of their journey but sincere in their desire to learn this skill, but those who are simply too lazy we have no patience for.

I believe that n00bs are indefensible because they are ignorant; in other words, they show an intentional dislike of social protocol and choose to act uneducated. They are a burden on the resources of any forum and an unnecessary strain on moderators and respectful members. They are also demotivational in a sense; it is not uncommon to have one's perception of the state of common knowledge in this world altered for the worse by the staggering number of n00bs on the internet. They show society at it's worst and are a culmination of all the failures of modern parenting and education. They undoubtedly have value as individuals, but they are an insult to those of us who have always tried to be at our best.

Kura and I did have a plan, and it did work....I just can't remember how we actually got it to work...XD

Every forum has its n00bs. Every forum doesn't need to pay attention to them though. Just...ignore them and only talk to them when needed to be reprimanded once. They'll go away...

I don't see how we went from my warnings to "the war on n00bs" tv special. I don't think we should call n00bs that name anymore, as that is why they do what they do.

Well I don't think they'd like being called 'stupid rule-breaking posters' either :\ N00b is a much nicer word~ And shorter :3

They can change their ways, but they either don't want to, or they're just a noob. o.o

I used to talk like this it wasnt that bad but when i look back on my old posts it annoys me by the little grammar i used then.

See? One big whole sentence. XD

Honestly, it isn't the younger members I worry about. It's most of the older ones that are completely capable of holding an intelligent discussion that are the ones making the short posts. I'm not saying PC needs to change or anything. But it would be nice if people put more effort into what they say. :3

Con-- Like Alan said in his long post that you obviously didn't read, he stated that new members and n00bs are COMPLETELY different. N00bs are people that are here to hassle us and really don't care at all...

Yeah, I feel that n00bs just basically don't care about how they protray themselves to other people. They're just there to grab attention and to post anywhere they can (hence a lot of "I agree" or "I disagree" posts with no explaination as to why they agree or disagree)

o_o Chibi: Yeah, we were trying to get rid of n00bs by talking about a topic that was beyond their level of intelligence X3; and it worked~ <3

o_o And yeah, I was looking at my old posts earlier today X3; What a cooincidence~

I guess you are right, but I didn't read wanna read his post, might cause me to become angry.
