What's up with the anime creators? Are they trying to stop Ash from going through the Kalos Region so fast? It's like Ash will never get the Rumble Badge. Seeing how early in the season Ash obtained the Cliff Badge, it's like the animators don't want him to get the Rumble Badge so soon. Please, we want another gym battle!

Well , One good reason might be that Writer planning to gave Ash a Megevolution before Shalure Gym since they can't afford their precious Mega Lucario be taken down by some ordinary Pokemon like Froakie or Pikachu.
But again , Ash might receive a Pity badge from Korrina .
Because If the first reason was right , Then Ash would already caught a Pokemon capable of Megevolving and spend time forging strong bond with it.
But All Ash will caught a Hawlucha and then have filler adventure with friend.
Just imagine , Ash caught Snover Or any other Pokemon capable of Megevolving after Summer camp ark and forge a strong Bond equal to Korrina & Lucario.
CAN YOU COUNT THE TIME IT GOING TO TAKE ???
Because , I believe it would take almost One year !
I don't think Shalure Gym will take that long .
So , Look like the Creator is delaying Ash for a Pity Badge !

Or maybe they're trying to space out the badges more so they don't end up with what they had at the end of BW (ie a big backlog of filler). Someone did mention a pattern to the anime regions once iirc that seems fairly true (though subjective)- the odd-numbered regions Ash ends up progressing pretty quickly through and the even-numbered ones tend to take a bit longer. I mean, Kanto was fast as heck considering later seasons and technically had a filler league with Orange that also went by fast. A whole season of AG took place after the league. As stated before, BW had episode N and the filler that was Decolore. On the other hand, progression in Johto and DP was spaced out more evenly and allowed the leagues to take place at the end of the regional journey. And it looks to be the same with XY.

Or the reason is to make Lucario trash Ash as much as possible.

I think that with the content in the game, Lysandre & mega evolution, that they are preparing to really make this into a long series. There's a lot of avenues they can explore so instead of rushing through it when they don't need to is completely understandable. I'm glad they're taking time with this one, it feels like a series they can really make intothe best one yet.

How dare they not get to the Shalour Gym Battle. If it's because of Lucario not listening what-so-ever, it's supposed to learn how to Mega-Evolve correctly during the Mawile Episode. If that's the case, they should have the Shalour Gym Battle but no...... They had Ash battle against a Talonflame, and trek through a cave full of mirrors instead. Why must the animators troll us!?!?!?!?!?

Um... they're giving us a story arc? Which is actually interesting. And showcasing & developing characters besides the main cast. And probably plotting out the series to take the correct amount of time to end with the League without too much filler all at once. I'd like to point out that the animators are not responsible for the script or story progression btw. Those are the writers. Please check your facts before going on a tangent.

Mega Evolution is riding side saddle. Ash plays no major part in any of the Mega Evolution specific plots so far. He may never play an imporntant role in them. They introduced Mega Evolution and now they explain how to do it. The entire plot focuses on Korrina and not Ash.

The only other major Mega evolution related Anime goodness is a side series that doesn't play any role with the main series so far.

All of the important aspects for Mega Evolution have been covered and there's little point to continuing it through the main arc unless a character that specializes in it appears again. Like a reappearence of Steven Stone.

Korrina probably won't even use Lucario for the Gym battle.

We also know the two next titles where Ash fights in a Sky Battle and then enters the cave right before Shalour city. Before the summer camp even starts he may have his badge and the camp is in an area after Shalour city.

How dare they not get to the Shalour Gym Battle. If it's because of Lucario not listening what-so-ever, it's supposed to learn how to Mega-Evolve correctly during the Mawile Episode. You do know that Shalour city is AFTER the cave where he does the Mirror thing right? Character development is the point to an anime. He has a new Pokemon, he has to use it for something.

I dont mind the streching ash has absolutly no pokemon that can match up with a mega lucario and by the jpn opening credits it looks like its gonna be froakie vs lucario i not a huge fan of ash capturing hawklucha with flechcinder but it should give him a good advantage in the next two gyms as far as holding ash back id say its taking this long because they wanted to show all the mega evolution stuff first then go into the grind part of the journey

As long as the end of the X and Y series has Ash actually improving his game, maybe regaining Top 4, if not getting Top 2 or, heck, even winning the finals (though losing against an Elite 4 member, since remember, he still has to face off against the Elite 4 and the regional champion before he actually wins a league, at least that's what was stated with DP), I don't care how long they take for him to get to a gym. BW was an absolute disaster in how it ended, since he decreased in rank and to make matters worse, they treated him as a full-on idiot (Even Original Ash at least had the excuse of just starting out, BW Ash doesn't).

Again, we're being trolled. They just announced a 4-episode arc involving the new rivals. Those trolls really don't want Ash to get his third badge... I mean, this is already exceeding the number of episodes it took between the Bug Badge and the Cliff Badge. In the games, it takes a shorter time between the Cliff and Rumble Badges, than between the Bug and Cliff Badges. Are the cast postponing the gym battle to minimize any after-league fillers? Way to stop Ash from speedrunning!

Most people enjoy these type of filler arcs. I really do. Hoenn and Sinnoh would have been the same way if not for contests.

All they are doing is slowing it down so the pokemon and characters can develop better than last. Not to mention they don't want to go too fast. Unova went too fast and it had like 5 tournament arcs.

Considering it takes 3-4 years from the release of a generation's first paired games to come out to the start of the next gen, it should be understandable why Ash is being "delayed" and not getting his next badge - especially since he got his first Kalos one so soon into the current arc.
After all, it appears they're trying to avoid putting in a 'side story' arc like Orange Islands or Battle Frontier this time around. Even though the Kanto series started over a year after its corresponding games were released, and its run only lasted for around 80 episodes, the succeeding generation of games was being delayed over and over, effectively requiring the writers to come up with the Orange Islands arc.

The series is going to last either 3 or 4 years, so give it time. No gym wait will be as long as DP's Snowpoint to Sunnyshore gap. Still, I'm not opposed, especially if there's actually development.

And I don't want another debacle like DA! again. Seriously, the writers' sins were beyond forgivable.

Korrina's gym battle will be after the summer arc otherwise they wouldn't have shown it in the latest preview up the upcoming episodes. So it's not too far off and for people who thing they're taking it too slow apparently don't like the idea of character and pokemon development. And training which XY had been solely lacking in which showing it on screen. Gym battles aren't the only thing that matters.

"DA!"? Sorry, can you fill me in on what DA! is? If it's Best Wishes, I wholeheartedly agree. At least with Johto, Ash actually increased a rank, and even Hoenn, while bad in that Ash didn't increase in rank, at least didn't have him decrease in rank.

And like I said before, as long as Ash actually improves his game in XY, actually increases his rank back to Top 4, maybe even Top 2 if not win first place, I won't have any problem if they delay. Johto may have been loaded with fillers, but Ash increasing from Top 16 to Top 8 at least made the wait worthwhile.

DA! just means the "decolore archipelago" arc at the end of... BW. Was quite possibly the biggest waste of time and something I consider filler hell. It was around 30 straight episodes of filler of them traveling to different islands on the way back to Kanto establishing and accomplishing absolutely nothing.

The "delay" you're talking about isn't even that bad. Presumably, he'll face Korrina in XY044, so that's not too long after XY025, which was the Grant battle. And yeah, I'm going to assume he'll rank up in the league, as his intelligence and competence thus far in XY is leaps above what it was in BW.

What the hell was great about Da! anyway bar the Japanese opening? An arc full of fillers, no evolutions, no interesting battles? Iris and Cilan leaving Ash for the stupidest reason EVER? Team Rocket returning to its old and boring role in the show?

And they are delaying Ash because fillers are attractive to babies and children. Seriously. The show is for those up to 12 or 13 years old, and that's generous.

Guys, this isn't a Decolore hate thread. The question has been answered, let's keep it at that.

Really the Gym battles aren't that far apart. If XY is anything like the past four series, it will be spread out through more than one season. They can't put all of the Gym battles in one season, so it's best to put in ~20 fillers in between, give or take an evolution or acquisition episode. In XY's defense, the filler quality has been outstanding imo, so it's not like it's a struggle to watch these eps.
