Everyone is paranoid on some facet. My own greatest fears are disappointing my loved ones. But paranoia often links to the word "truth" and does anyone want that ("truth" being something I see to be a word based on human limitation, but that's another topic of discussion), when you think about it? I think it's held churlish and fearful one way to another. We rather continue to be paranoid and searching for reasons and the word "truth" because of that. It's like Friedrich Nietzsche said - what's wrong with "untruth" (despite that I don't adhere to that notion nonwithstanding)? Uncertainty? Conundrums? Mystery? Not knowing? It's rather the paranoia that gets to one at length, I think, by contrast to not knowing as knowing is something that haunts us all one way to the other.
