LOL.. it took me some time to figure it out.. no, you got me wrong.. the 'signs' that I meant.. I wasn't refering to the features.. I was refering to their actions.. If Giovanni knew Ash was his son, he would at least go like.. "oh, so you are Ash Ketchum..." He would ignore Ash most probably (more obsessed with Team Rocket than his son), but even so, there should be some sort of.. actions to show that Giovanni found Ash familiar, or that Giovanni seemed to know Ash or something.. hmmmm.
 
What if it was the man how had the Nidorino in the first episode.

maybe the creators wanted it to be veague,so they made the characters "seem" to not know each other.....I'm just assuming
 
hmmm....Giovanni is Silver's dad, Technically...and we know that Silver and Ash can't be brothers... so...that sorta counts Giovanni out.
 
How do you know that they are not brothers? They may have different moms.
 
Because that would make them half-brothers. And how do you know Silver is Giovanni's son?

That was a mis-translation by the dubbers. In the original Japanese version, Takeshi's mom abandoned the family after Muno left.

You do have a point. I don't think the creators feel like filling the gap.

It says in the G/S/C games a couple of times... one of them in the 'No...Giovanni's son has red hair...' quote, when someone thought male player was his son.

Yeah, I thought about that too.... maybe he has no son in the anime? ...since I doubt Ash is his son.

I dont think it's Giovanni, his dad hasn't really appeared in the anime ( Because the POKEMON CO. doesnt even know who he is)

Anyway... I used to believe it might be Giovanni. However, I haven't found any evidence to support it, so I gave up. It makes for a good plot device, if I must say so. XD;; *shot*

I think he's just some guy that just isn't important enough to be mentioned. If he was important, he would have been, wouldn't he? :/

a: In one of the episodes when Ash starts a new journey his mom thinks ~if his dad was here he would be really proud of him~
b: Also in the beginning of a game (Fire RED/RED?) his mom says the same thing

Though we do know that silver does not exist in the anime so put him out of this as the game and anime are always different (in pokemon atleast).
Well, ofcourse we could ask Nintendo about this or maybe Pokemon.com? (i would try)
