    From Ubisoft's official press release:
Driven from Norway by endless wars and dwindling resources in the ninth century AD, players will lead Eivor's clan of Norsemen across the icy North Sea to the rich lands of England's broken kingdoms. Players must carve out a new future for their clan, reliving the ruthless fighting style of Viking warriors with a revamped combat system that includes the ability to dual-wield weapons against a greater variety of enemies than ever before. To secure resources players can lead raids to select locations using their longship to earn much-needed riches and resources. As the Vikings begin to settle in their new home, they encounter resistance from the Saxons including King Aelfred of Wessex, who denounces them as heathens and looks to be the sole ruler of a civilized England. Against all odds, Eivor must do what is necessary to keep Valhalla within reach.

Another year, another Assassin's Creed game! After an exhaustive 8-hour reveal of the official artwork the day before - which has been mercifully shortened since - yesterday Ubisoft revealed the next chapter in their long-running Assassin's Creed series, which was not called Ragnarok as everyone expected (probably because Sony got that subtitle for the next God of War game?) but IS about viking as previously rumoured. No gameplay videos as of yet, but already plenty of screenshots and details about gameplay features, including confirmation that dialogue choices will make a return and you will be able to play as a female character.

Anyone else interested in this? Will it be one of your first next-generation games, or one of your last current-generation ones? Anything you'd like to see in this game?

The blurb sort of makes it not even sound like an Assassin's Creed game, especially since the 9th century would place it at least a century before the establishment of the historical organization that the Assassins are based off of. Not that I'm surprised though, it seemed to me like they did away with the overarching story some time ago (though I could be wrong, I've not played an AC game since finishing Revelations).

I haven't bought a console game in about 5 years, but I gotta be honest the reveal of what is effectively a cross between one of my favourite game franchises and one of my favourite TV shows is tempting me to splash out on an upgrade on my Xbox360. Obviously that would be a terrible idea, given I need to buy a new car, but it looks so fun!
