Well maybe Rene was part of the police-y staff's plan to search out lots of secret information from people by asking simply, yet unsuspecting questions which make people reply with a decent lengthed answer. This information was all collected by the Rene program, allowing the staff to see and find out basically everything about everyone's online activity and everything they publicly shared.
