In generation IV, you can customize your pokeballs with Ball Capsules. You can put up to 9 seals on one ball capsule. Once a Pokémon is given a Ball Capsule, they display a unique animation in battle based on the seals you put on the Pokeball! However, you cannot put your Pokémon back into the PC or Release them when they have a Ball Capsule attached. This feature was completely removed after Generation IV ended, and I'm pretty sure it's easy to guess why. (Hint: the letter seals that can spell out certain choice words).
What did you think of Ball Capsules? Did you customize your pokeballs with them? Would you like to see them return in the future?

Well, I for one, loved this feature. It was really cute. I used it a lot back when generation IV was new and current, but nowadays I don't bother as much because it makes it so Pokémon can't be taken out of your party if they have a capsule on them... I do wish these would return. An easy fix to returning the Ball Capsules is to not have the letter seals or automatically ban words that are inappropriate from being put onto the Pokeballs. A filter is easy enough to implement these days.
