This was so close. I am replacing Milotic, as it didn't do its job that well.

Pros - I made a few good predictions. Bringing Vire into his Magnezone would have been better. This was a really fun and lengthy battle.

Cons - I lost. Milotic was crap. Lost Salamence far too early. There were a few unfair Criticals.

Ambipom FTW!

Lately, I've heard people bashing Ambipom. I'm like, lol wut

So I decided to make a special-based team (with a physical wall and physical sweeper in there for some balance) to shut up the haters. This particular person is just some random person I battled who was unfortunate anough to feel the WRATH of nasty plot passing Ambipom.

I don't know how to put pics in posts, so I'm going to just list the teams :(

My Team: Metagross, Articuno, Donphan, Ambipom, Azelf, Gengar

MiddlAge's Team: Yanmega, Breloom, Blissey, Infernape, Donphan, Swampert

Rules: Ladder Match, Sleep Clause, Freeze Clause, OHKO Clause, Evasion Clause, Species Clause, Strict Damage Clause
Anti-Pop sent out Metagross (lvl 100 Metagross).
MiddlAge sent out Yanmega (lvl 100 Yanmega ?).
PhantomVX has entered the room.

It always uses protect, so I figure I send in my special wall to absorb a blow or two and then 2HKO with ice beam.

So if I hear ANYONE bashing darling Ambipom again, you're gonna get it! Glad there was no weavile, which goes "lol" at my entire team except Metagross :(

This is one of those logs you actually read through because the battle was so short :P This team has taken its share of defeats, but Ambipom is ALWAYS awesome! If it weren't for species clause there'd be a CB variant on my team as well :P

So I hope all Ambipom haters have learned their lesson.
 
Sorry Anti, but relying on a frozen Blissey doesn't make Ambipom that great. Blissey can just Seismic Toss it to death so it can't create substitutes. Also relying on Gengar to 2HKO with Focus Blast (after 1 planned Nasty Plot of course) is something I'd personally never consider - the 70% isn't so pretty but the real reason is getting your sweeper T-waved in case Blissey defrosts.

Oh, I know, I just like to make a big deal of things :P Usually it doesn't bother with tossing me, as it tries to paralyze me (I learned that the hard way, had I saved the log you'd know what I mean). But if it goes straight to break the subs, it's pretty easy to nasty plot once or twice and pass it away.

A lot of times swampert comes in to roar, so you can taunt it and have a free turn to sub up. I have gotten 2 nasty plots in AND can pass them several times (it's not hard at all, seriously). It's just Weavile always shows up and can destroy both of my special sweepers in one hit...needless to say, I'm working on that problem at the moment.

I agree, no doubt the freeze hax helps, just want to point out Ambipom doesn't really need it. In the battles I've had where Weavile hasn't showed, Ambipom can be quite the effective passer (and I admit it, I was one of the Ambipom doubters :().

But it's the fastest nasty plot passer in the game and it does it pretty dang well. It gives togekiss some stiff competition for that role and really is good at it. Go Ambipom!

But yeah, maybe I should post a battle that doesn't involve freeze hax to make my case stronger, lol

EDIT: I just had a battle where my Ambipom, without freeze hax, passed 3 nasty plots AND a sub to gengar. lol

i agree that ambipom can be very effective, but i think the notion that it isn't excepted by a lot of battlers comes from the fact that it can't really use nasty plot for itself all that well. in the most immediate instance, you can't throw a pokemon with no attacks into battle. and it's also just a one-time passer, having no recovery options.

but yes, the only reason i'd use ambipom is for passing NP.

Overall, Quite fun to use Gross as a lead...or lead DESTROYER, rather (besides Hippowdon leads). Outpredicting Itachi wasn't amazingly difficult, but satisfying nonetheless. This team has already racked up some wins, I look to continue with that tradition :P

Articuno was a trooper, especially for only roosting once. to think it outlasted Blissey...just makes me Smile :P
