6th Gen Battle Mechanics & Environments Discussion

So many new screenshots showing off the battle system of ORAS! If you want to see all of them, they can be found here, but these are some of my favorites:

There are several others that show the beautiful move animations and colors that brighten the screen, so take a look in that gallery! Really enjoying seeing the Hoenn pokemon in their new 3D models, can't wait to see the rest of them. Even when the Pokemon is in its basic stage, like this one of Mudkip, the attack still looks epic.

There is a WiFi battle pic on Serebii. They added minor details to the floor and walls. But added Virtual Spectators.

I would like the Battle Spot of have several backgrounds to pick but... sigh.

There is still hope that they'll have several basic backgrounds, like a water arena, and a fire arena. Those kind would fit nicely in Type tournaments and events.

Somethings they usually don't hint on, so speculation tends to be 80-90 percent hope and 10-20 percent knowledge of patterns.
I can't wait to see how Sky Battles in Hoenn would look after the shift. Maybe the circles will be clouds.

I find it kind of interesting that they haven't shown any sky battles or horde battles in a trailer yet, even for a few seconds. I'd say if character customization doesn't make it into ORAS, there's a chance these unique battles might not either. If not, there's of course the possibility that they have new battles ready to reveal for the remakes!

We also barely got any gameplay at all, really. The extra battle types are.. well, extra add-ons, so I think that they will show us the core features of ORAS first before giving us anything that is random and extra and doesn't relate to the plot that much.

What if they introduced another battle type? Maybe something involves underwater battles and such? I think the new battle scenes are amazing. Animations to camera angles, it's amazing.

Oh right, forgot there was no circles in Sky Battles. I wonder how they'll look underwater though. Maybe it'll be sandy in the center but one wouldn't be able to see much due to the water around us?

They said there was going to be a revolutionary changed in battling didn't they? I assumed that meant Primal Reversion, but only the mascots have that (that we know of). So maybe more will get it, or they meant something else that they're still keeping a secret...

Nothing revolutionary on the battle system front yet; looks to be very similar to X and Y, but wow does this screenshot make me excited for ORAS, haha. May looks awesome, gah. n__n I was thinking, what if they changed battle conditions when a Pokemon undergoes Primal Reversion? Like, weather cannot be implemented as long as they're on the field, or no Pokemon can switch out. o:

I'm really assuming they are doing a new type of battle. Most probably doing with Dive being back in the mix.

Other than that, maybe it's the Primal Reversion or the camera angles :33

Primal Reversion's battle cutscene looks epic, gah. *__* Can't wait to see this in the game. The customization of the gem to be Groudon and Kyogre's respective colors make me think that this new way of devolution will remain exclusive to the Hoenn legendary mascots, but of course, the color may just change depending on the Pokemon.

It's really interesting how little details like the battle scene change so incrementally, but still do get better and better over time. I bet they don't take out the circles though.

You are correct; in fact, it's already been confirmed that ORAS will continue to use the circular battle platforms, as you can see from this pre-release screenshot:

There's actually a lot more of those and some other information that's been revealed - you can find all that on the official ORAS website, which can be found here. :]
