Results

I thought the results would be a close run between a couple of different movies, but the winner was pretty much a steal.

Best Movie of 2014: Guardians of the Galaxy (51)

I never saw Guardians of the Galaxy, but I know it grossed well and pretty much every major review site said it was pretty good shit. I probably won't see it until I can rent it.. that's about the end of it. It looked really dumb to me, so the fact it blew up surprised me. Evidently PC was no exception to the hype; let me know what exactly made it sooo spectacular.

Runner ups: Captain America: The Winter Soldier (23) The LEGO Movie (23) Interstellar (22) X-Men: Days of Future Past (22)

I... also saw none of these. Discuss them, because I'd love to know what your thoughts were on them. The cast in these movies were pretty much star-studded, but they never piqued my personal interest.

I'm still pissed at you guys for not voting more for Unbroken or Big Eyes. my absolute favorites of the year, stunning performances from the lead actors in both.

Other Runner-ups
Spoiler:

damn, I watched Grand Budapest Hotel yesterday and saw Inherent Vice on Saturday and both of those would have fit snugly in my list (with the former probably taking the #1, actually). oh well. also Guardians of the Galaxy winning come on now.

what about it didn't you like? I also want to see Inherent Vice; looks really stupid but also hilarious and I'm in the mood for shit like that

Leave it to Marvel for turning one of their obscure comic series into the biggest blockbuster of 2014. Kinda disappointed that Interstellar didn't win, because it means the demands for more pure original movies wasn't loud enough for the whole internet community to join in the fight, so they'll continue trying to berate Hollywood making more movies based on already-existing source material until they start rioting.

I feel like as a standalone it was kinda weak and overly exposition-y but I mean that's to be expected considering we've never seen this characters in a movie before. it has great, great, great potential for future movies though, imo.

also FAIR WARNING: Inherent Vice is confusing and convoluted as fuck. it is also very dumb and hilarious at times, though, but the actual plot is super hard to keep up with and there are like 600236923590235098 characters to keep track of. still, I highly recommend.
