[Best Veteran March/May 2011] A new professor in town - Kanto Adventure PG13

I meant to say flopping, lol I misspelled it

"But...why did you come back?" Warren stared, astounded, at the small Pokémon standing in front of the Meowth, which was slowly pulling itself back to its feet. It turned to face him, its red eyes glistening.
"Rattata!" it cried, leaping over to Warren. Hesitantly, he picked it up and held it up to eye level, where he could see an almost completely faded bruise on its forehead. The sort of bruise that someone would get from, say, being kicked into a wooden beam at high speed.
"Why did you come back?" he whispered, then turned as he heard a squeak from behind him. Standing there were two more Rattata. The closer, slightly smaller one, he recognised as Bite. The larger one was unknown to him. Things became clearer after his own Rattata wandered over to it and nuzzled up to it. So, this was Rattata's mate and presumably Bite's father. Then, Rattata glanced up and quicker than a bullet, fired past Warren and threw herself at the Meowth which had been sneaking up on Mankey, who was currently playing with Bite's father. Meowth rolled to the side and Rattata flew past, but turned her head at the last moment and bit down on Meowth's tail - hard. The cat leapt into the air, flicking its tail and throwing Rattata high into the air, but she responded by turning the momentum into a Quick Attack that slammed into Meowth's face. The scratch cat Pokémon stumbled back and looked at its opposition - one angry primate, two adult rats and one baby rat that had been given a Thunderbolt TM, though to be fair, the Meowth didn't actually know that. Nevertheless, it realised how badly it was outnumbered and turned around to slowly limp off into the undergrowth. Warren grinned, then turned back to the Rattata family.
"So...why did you guys come to find me?" Warren's old Rattata stepped forwards and motioned to herself, then towards Warren, then to one of his Pokeballs.
"You...you want to come with me? But what about your family?" Rattata nudged two more of Warren's Pokeballs. He promptly burst out laughing.
"Look, I can't have all three of you on my team. Apart from the problems of having three identical Pokémon, its simply impractical. I mean, really, its just illogical...BUT" he added, in one of those light bulb above the head moments, "I know someone who could give you all a place to stay, Professor Oak. He's got a huge ranch where you could live and you'd get food and safety, everything." Bite and his dad appeared pleased with this, but Rattata seemed unhappy. Once more, she motioned to herself, then to Warren.
"So, you still want to come, alone, if necessary?" she nodded, as did the other two Rattata. Warren smiled.
"Okay, I'll take you two," he motioned to the two males, "To the next city and send you along to Professor Oak from there, okay? As for you..." Warren turned to his old friend and unclipped a Pokeball from his belt before gently bumping it against Rattata's head. She was sucked inside and the light began to flash, red and white. Warren just hoped that she hadn't changed her mind...

It was morning, and Sean had woken up from the room in the Pokemon Center in Saffron City. The weather outside was bright and sunny, with the sky blue with only a few white clouds. "Hmm, it must be morning. I better get dressed." Sean climbed out of his bed, slightly tired from going to sleep really late. His clothes were washed for some reason, and were very clean, which made Sean wonder who did it. Of course, it was Nurse Joy who wants to have all their occupants healthy. Once all his clothes were on, Sean got his bag and walked out of the room. The Pokemon Center was open and a lot of People were inside, it was a great morning. Sean walked out of the exit, seeing the city sight, which looked very luxurious. It was the great weather to take a walk, so Sean decided to take a look at all the other monuments of the city, and most of all, the Gym. Little did he know, this was not the next Gym he had to face.
When Sean was walking, out of nowhere, a Pikachu came running up to Sean's knees. "Pika-Pika-Pi-Pika-Pi-Pi!!" the Pikachu was panicked, and looked familiar. This must be Kairi's Pikachu. "What's going on, Pikachu? Has something happened to Kairi?!" Sean was worried for her, as he did not want anything happening to his best friend. Pikachu guided him back past Route 5 and dashed all the way back to Cerulean City. "Why are we back here?" Sean asked Pikachu, still guiding him along. they reached the Cerulean Police Center, this made Sean adjetated. "Oh no! Kairi hasn't been..." Sean couldn't say it, he didn't want the thought of it. "Alright, we're going inside!" Sean had no fear at all, as Kairi needed help, and Kairi had helped Sean before. Without noticing the guard at the door, Sean ran past him, which angered the guard. "Hey, you! Get back here now!" Sean kept on running, "Alright, Pikachu. Which one is Kairi's cage?" they kept on running throughout the large prison base until they reached Kairi's cell. "Kairi, what's going on? What have they done to you?" Sean was panicked.

"Actually it's what I've done really. They put me in here, cause I killed a Ratatta. I tried to tell them that I didn't mean to kill it, but they wouldn't listen. Now, if you break me out out of here you'll be breaking the law," Kairi told him a few tears running out of her eyes.

Sean's Growlithe popped out and started ramming the bars trying to get Kairi out,"No! Don't do that Growlithe. I broke the law from what I did. I should be punished."

Growlithe started crying,"Grow! Grow! Grow!"

Someone came in. It was Giovanni, the gym leader of Viridan City,"How much is Kairi bail?" He asked the police.

"Well, it's 200000 Poke," They said. Giovanni paid it.

"Ok, girl punishment over," the police man said letting her out.

"Huh?" Kairi said as she walked out.

"Thank Giovanni here," he said pointing.

"But...but...your the gym leader of Viridan City. How do you know about me?" She asked him.

"You'll find out later," he told her as he was walking off he thought to himself,'My daughter's grown into a find young lady. She'll be able to take my place as Team Rocket leader very soon.'

Kairi recalled Magikarp, and grabbed her PokeBalls and Togepi,"Sean, I think this man may know about my missing father in some way. I should find out everything I can about him. It may lead to my father. Oh I didn't tell you did I? That's the real reason I'm on this Journey, sure it's my dream to be a top Coordinator, but the truth of the matter is, I'm really searching for my father."

@Alipeewee - Yup that's fine, you have caught it once after all...

Congratulations Rattata rejoined Warren

@Konekodemon - Well that was a lucky break for Kairi...

Since people are through Route 5, here's Route 6...

Route 6

Number of Posts: 2-3

Description: A short path running from the Underground Pass to Vermillion City. There are a few trainers dotted along this route, as well as a number of wild pokémon.

What can you do in a Route?

Generally the main two things you can do on a route are capturing pokémon and battling trainers. You can do many other things, you know free will and all that... Anyways, you cannot meet any of the other RPers, and everyone have fun.

Note - the title specifying the rarity of a pokémon refers to how hard a pokémon is to catch. i.e. a much better post is required to catch an uncommon pokémon than to catch a common pokémon.
How I level the pokémon you're catching will depend on how good your post is. When you're trying to catch a pokémon, you cannot decide if you catch it. When trying to catch a pokémon you have to finish your post off when you throw the pokéball and wait for my response telling you if the capture was successful or not. You cannot continue until you know that it was caught. In battles, I will level up your pokémon depending on the quality of your battle post.

Sean was shocked about this news, he never knew Kairi had a lost Dad. "Wow, I never knew that. I hope she gets what she wants." but Sean had to get back to Saffron to see if the Gym was there. All of a sudden, a jail guard came to him, "Hey! Are you gunna get out or do you wanna be arrested next?!" Sean was terrified of him, but thought he may aswell ask for advice, "Well, I'm supposed to be heading for the next Gym. Is it Saffron oif Vermilion?" Sean was pleasent with him, and then the Police Man started to turn nicer, "Hmm, I think it's Vermilion, since lots of experienced trainers go to Saffron. Try there next, kid." he explained. If Sean had gone to Saffron then, he'd have gone the wrong way. So now he must head to Vermilion. "Now, get out of here." the Police Guard shown him out.

Sean walked back onto Route 5, down the long path again 'till he reached that underground pass. Once there, Sean thought, "Nah, I'll go through Saffron City, it's much cleaner that way." so he did. The Building was just as empty as at night, but Sean got back to Saffron. Sean took one more look at all the buildings, thinking when the time was to go there. When he looked at all the cool city-like conditions in the area, he walked through the other large building that lead to Route 6.

"Let's see. Over there must be where Vermilion City is." Sean could see a small enterance to the city, where there was not as much cool buildings as Saffron, but it looked familiar to Sean, since it was surrounded by water like Cinnabar Island. Trying to avoid the large areas of grass, he saw a few trainers, training up their small Pokemon. They were also taking battles with each other. In front of Sean, he saw a large pond with water Pokemon diving out, he found this cute. He was getting closer and closer to the city, still walking through the path that was not covered with high grass. That was when he had arrived right at the enterance.

"Oh, come on, Professor!" Warren shouted, wandering along Route 6 with his much-neglected mobile phone pressed to his ear.
"I'm sorry Warren but two Rattata are of limited scientific interest. If I really wanted two Rattata, I'd just go to Route 1 and catch them myself. I already have five anyway!" Warren growled and hung up, without bothering to say anything else. Then, after a short period of thought, he punched in another number.
"Hello? Professor Maple? It's Warren, the guy you gave the Poliwag to? Yeah, well, I've got a couple of Pokémon here who need a safe place to stay, a pair of Rattata...yes, I know that they're common as dirt, but I'm offering you free Pokémon here...anything special?...um...I think the smaller one got taught thunderbolt via TM, is that any good? Yes?...sorry, professor, its both of them or neither of them...brilliant, thanks professor, I'll send them to you from the next Pokémon centre!" He flipped his phone shut and turned to Bite and his father.
"Sorted! Professor Oak was a bit of a jerk, but Prof. Maple's happy to have you!" the two small Pokémon cheered as Warren grinned a little, then looked around, realizing that he didn't actually know where he was.
"Ummm...was anybody looking around while I was on the phone?" The Rattata looked at each other and sighed. Warren moaned. "Just great..."

About two hours later, Warren finally stumbled back onto something vaguely resembling a path. It was a shame that he didn't know which end lead back to Cerulean and which end was at Vermillion. Then, he had an inspiration.
"Beedrill, I need a hand!" he called and the giant bee burst from its Pokeball. "I need you to fly up really high," Warren explained, "So that you can tell us which way to go!" Beedrill nodded and flew up into the air, its flimsy wings flapping furiously. For a few seconds, it rotated slowly to take in its surroundings, then dived steeply before pulling up sharply in front of Warren and pointing down the path. Warren grinned.
"Thanks, Beedrill. Return." He recalled Beedrill and began walking down the path confidently, the purple rats gambolling along happily beside him.
"OI!" Warren jumped as someone shouted from up ahead. Squinting, he saw someone standing a little way ahead. A girl, maybe?
"WARREN, ITS ME!" she shouted and Warren instantly recognized her.
"LIV?" he shouted and she waved.
"YEAH, WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU? YOU JUST RAN OFF AT MOUNT MOON!" Warren winced as he realised that he'd abandoned Liv when he'd gone chasing after Guy and had actually completely forgotten about her afterwards. Jogging a little, he caught up to her so that he could stop shouting. Not that he didn't enjoy yelling, of course. Catching up to her, he slowed a little and panting a little, grinned.
"So," she asked and Warren noticed that she seemed a little P.O.'ed about something, "Care to explain?"

@FlareonFan - okay I'll have Vermillion up soon, it will be a big post...

Kairi watched Sean leave. She got to thinking,'Hey! Maybe Misty could help me train my Magikarp. She's good with water Pokemon.'

Kairi then walked over to the gym. When she entered Misty walked up to her,"Are you here for a gym battle?" She asked.

"A battle yes. But not a gym battle," she told her. Misty was a little confused,"If you don't want a badge then why do you want to battle?" She asked her.

"This is why," Kairi said bringing out her Shiny Magikarp,"I need to get my Magikarp trained up so it will evolve."

"Oh!" Misty said,"Then feel free to battle me or any of the other water trainers here. But trust me, even though this isn't a gym battle, doesn't mean I won't battle hard."

"Ok, Misty," Kairi said, sitting her Magikarp down in the water. Misty called out her Goldeen,"Wow! It's so beautiful Misty. Where can I get one of those?"

Misty was impressed. Finually someone other then her who loved water Pokemon just as much as she did,"You really think so?" Misty said, stars in her eyes,"You can find a Goldeen along the edge of Vermillion City."

The battle then started,"Magikarp tackle attack!" Kairi called.

"I don't think so! Goldeen use Horn Attack!" Misty called.

"Sorry Misty but Horn attack won't do anything against Magikarp's hard skinned body. Your a gym leader and you didn't know that. I'm surprised," Kairi told her, as Goldeen's attack didn't do anything to Magikarp.

Magikarp tackled Goldeen. Goldeen screamed in pain. "Splash Magikarp!" Kairi called. Magikarp jumped over to Goldeen and snacked it with his tail, sending it onto land then jumped out of the water on top of Goldeen Ponding it into the floor with Splash. Misty had no choice but to recall Goldeen.

She then sent out Staryu,"Your Magikarp may be strong and special Kairi but it's no match for my Staryu."

"Wow! Staryu's so pretty!" Kairi said, stars in her eyes. She was starting to like water Pokemon a whole lot.

"Staryu! Rapid Spin!" Misty called.

Magikarp started getting knocked around,"Magikarp!" Kairi called.

"It's no use Kairi. When my Staryu's spinning like this nothing will stop it!" Misty called.

'What to do! What to do!' Kairi thought panicking,'It's a star shaped Pokemon, if only...Hey! That's it!' Kairi thought of a plan,"Magikarp! Wait until Staryu comes close to you and grab onto it's tip with your month, and keep on using Splash in your to hit it with your tail until it faints!"

"NO!" Misty screamed,"Don't Staryu! It's a trap!"

It was too late, Magikarp grabbed onto Staryu and wouldn't let go. It started hitting Staryu's center with it's tail over and over again.

"Get that Magikarp off you!" Misty screamed. It was no use, Staryu couldn't shake Magikarp off. Pretty soon it just fainted. Magikarp let go as Misty called Staryu back,"That was a great battle Kairi," Misty told her. She pulled out a badge.

"No thank you Misty. I'm not here for a badge. I just wanted some training. See I'm a Coordinator not a trainer," Kairi told her,"But now thanks to you, I now see water Pokemon in a new way. My new goal while I'm being a Coordinator is also to catch every single type of water Pokemon there is. Now other then a top Coordinator, I'd also would like to be a Water Master."

"Really? Me too!" Misty said. She had just found a good friend in Kairi. Kairi and Misty then shoke hands from a great battle.

"So you just had to leave after you escaped with Bite and Mankey, did you? It would have been impossible to wait?" Warren grimaced as Liv moaned on.
"Well, I was...injured-"
"So you said. But you're walking fine now. You're barely even limping."
"Potion," Warren explained, grinning. "It does wonders on the more sensitive areas." Liv shuddered with disgust.
"I didn't know you had any sensitivity in you," she teased. Warren turned red, but didn't respond, choosing instead to stop walking and stretch his arms out.
"Lunch time!" he announced and Liv raised an eyebrow.
"Do I look like I have any food?" she moaned and Warren took a look. True, she didn't have a bag like him, but she had a few pockets on her shorts, where she could have food stashed away.
"Maybe," he answered and she chuckled a little.
"Well, I may not have any food, but I happen to be a dab hand at cooking over campfires, so if you're willing to share your food, I might be able to make it taste a bit less like its been sitting at the bottom of your bag for several weeks." Warren grinned.
"Sounds about right," he yawned, "Men get food, women cook food, men eat food and women wash the dishes." Liv narrowed her eyes at Warren, who decided that maybe it might be a good idea to shut up now. That look was scary. If looks could kill, he'd be at the centre of a nuclear bomb site right now.

About fifteen minutes later, a small pot of stew was bubbling over a campfire and Liv turned back to face Warren.
"Okay, that should be ready in about half an hour," she said, smiling softly. Warren nodded in response, resting against a tree trunk. After the silence stretched to the point of becoming uncomfortable, he started searching for something to say.
"Errr...how about a battle?" he asked, liking the idea more as he thought about it. "You could show me the Pokémon you've caught since we last met." Liv seemed a little surprised, but she nodded.
"Sure," she smiled, "It sounds like a plan!" Warren pushed himself to his feet and stepped away from the fire a little.
"Alright, let's make it a two-on-two. I'll start with Mankey!" Warren released the small primate, who leapt into the air and posed, punching the air in front of it. Liv grinned.
"A fighting type huh? Alright, let's go, Spearow!" A small bird with a fearsome mane of feathers and a large beak soared into the air, circling high above.
"Fury Attack!" Liv shouted and Spearow dived, launching a speedy attack, striking Mankey three times with its beak. But before it could do any major damage, Mankey reached out and, more through luck than judgement, grabbed Spearow by the beak. Laughing with glee, it slammed Spearow into the ground, scratching it as it tried to fly away. Slowly and laboriously, Spearow managed to climb back into the air and face Mankey, anger glinting in its eyes.
"Use Peck!" Liv shouted and Warren grinned.
"Retaliate with Low Kick!" Spearow dived and jabbed at Mankey's face with its beak, but the pig monkey Pokémon leant backwards, letting the bird fly over him. As it did, Mankey flipped over backwards on its hands, then threw its legs up and over its head, bringing them crashing down onto the small bird and smashing it into the ground. It squawked once, then fainted. Liv stood agape at the almost psychopathic Mankey, who was now doing a victory dance around Spearow. Coming to her senses, she returned the injured flying type, then took out another ball.
"I need you, Bidoof!" Warren blanched, then burst out laughing as the ugly...beaver...thing formed in front of him. Sure, Bidoof might be rare to Kanto, but that thing was ugly. Liv just smiled though.
"Don't judge by appearances, Warren. I think you're going to be surprised by what this guy can do..."

Sean was going to enter, but first he turned his head to a berry tree. These were not so rare, but Sean had ignored them. But this time, Sean thought that they might come in handy for battles incase he didn't want to buy any potions or any medicine. Sean felt the soft berries that were growing on the tree, they were red, small, soft and growing on green stalks, these were known as Cheri berries, since they looked like Cherrys. One by one, sean put them in the empty compartment in his bag, ending up to a total of 6. There was also one left, which Sean had took of and ate for himself. The berry had tasted refreshing, like they were throat sweets. These berries were meant to cure Pokemon of Paralysis, so they were a substitute for Paralyze Heal.
Sean was now ready to enter Vermilion City. The place smelt a lot like salt water, since it was a harbour. Sean was hoping to find a spot here where Water Pokemon could be caught, even though he didn't like Water Pokemon he wanted his style to be diverse, so he needed different kinds. Also, there was a large building at the other side of the city, just what he was looking for, the third Gym. Only problem was, the place was surrounded by trees, so Sean had to find a way to get past them. That wasn't all, the city had so much water surrounding it, so there was a cool view of the Kanto sea.
First, Sean wanted to stop off at the Pokemon Center to wait for Kairi. He wouldn't miss anything without her there, since she'd support him through the Gym Battle. The Pokemon Center looked like all the rest of them, just trainers relaxing, reading books, taking care of their Pokemon, Nurse moving around, etc. Sean took a seat, next to a large man, who looked like he was about to start a conversation, "Hi. Are you new to the City?" Sean didn't know whether to reply or not, since he's shy. "Well, I guess so. I'm a Pokemon Trainer, so I go to every city. Oh, by the way, I'm Sean." he introduced himself. "Nice to meet you. I'm Mick." he looked cheerful, like any other man his age would. "So, are you gunna take on the Gym Leader or somethin'?" he knew exactly what Sean was thinking, without any expression on his face. "Or, are you going to the Coastline Beach?" now, this was an idea Sean did not know about. Sean thought for a moment, about catching any more Pokemon. Which Water type was the greatest idea for him to choose. "Either, whichever I think might be the best idea." Sean wanted to end the conversation, and meet up with Kairi, so he stood back up, taking his backpack, "I must be going now, bye. It was sure good to meet you." Sean walked away from him. Outside, sean wondered which would be the second best spot to meet Kairi, when he decided to go back to the Vermilion enterance, as there, Kairi would still have to walk past to get in.

"Awww, it's still not evolved," Kairi wined. But Magikarp couldn't understand why it's trainer wanted it to evolve so badly.

But then a smoke bomb went off. Some people in black with red letter Rs jumped out,"Give us all of the water Pokemon here," they said.

"No way!" Misty told them.

They released 2 Ekans.

"Kairi let's double team ok. That is if you'd give my Staryu a potion," Misty sujested.

"Ok," Kairi said as Misty brought out her Staryu, Kairi gave it a potion. The battle then started with Misty's Staryu VS the Ekans and Kairi's Magikarp vs the other Ekans,"Cool, level 25 Pokemon should be just the power boost I need. Magikarp! Jump up onto Ekans using Splash!"

"Staryu! Rapid Spin!" Misty called.

Kairi's Magikarp jumped up on Ekans pushing it into the floor with Splash. Misty's Staryu used Rapid Spin on the other Ekans.

Misty's staryu took a lot of damage,"Staryu!" Misty screamed as the Ekans poisoned it with poison sting.

The other Ekans' trainer couldn't call out any attacks as it was being banped into the ground by Magikarp. The first Ekans fainted. The Rocket recalled it.

"Now go help out Staryu!" Kairi called. Magikarp and Staryu then both tackled the other Ekans knocking it out,"There that should be enough leveling up."

"But not for you girly!" The Rocket guy recalled Ekans then picked up Kairi by the shirt.,"Ahhhhh!!!" Kairi screamed in fear,"No!"

"Put her down!" Misty screamed as the other Rocket held her back. "Magikarp! Help me!" Kairi screamed, as the Rocket got ready to break every bone in her body.

When Sean was standing at the Vermilion enterance patiently, he could hear a screem out of nowhere. "Oh no! I must go see!" Sean was worried if incase this time Kairi was involved. He ran through the grass, without the intention of finding any Pokemon, and decided to take the Underground Pass as a quick route. The place was dark, yet faintly lit up by wall lights. It was a long running distance until Route 5, but he got there. Once out, Sean ran over to get to the city. There was a battle going on between Misty and Kairi against a Rocket member with Kairi held up by her shirt. Sean tried to interupt, but suddenly...

@Konekodemon - Congratulations Magikarp grew to Level 20 and evolved into Gyarados

'When Kairi called for help Magikarp flung himself at the Rocket holding Kairi, but was simply booted back into the water. The grunt then pinned Kairi to the wall and Kairi screamed. All of a sudden Magikarp began to glow and a huge transformation began. The Rocket grunt turned and saw what was happening.

"We've got to bolt!" he yelled at the other grunt, dropping Kairi. The two grunts returned their Ekans and dropped a smoke bomb. Kairi and Misty began coughing and covered there eyes against the smoke, whenthe smoke cleared the two grunts had disappeared. Kairi turned around to thank her Magikarp, but screamed when she saw what stood in front of her...'

"Thanks a lot Gyarados. Your a great friend," Kairi told him. Gyarados grinned with a roar. Kairi noticed though that Gyarados was a red color. She took out her Pokedex and looked at the picture of a Gyarados,'Wow! A Red Gyarados is also much larger then a normal Gyarados.'

Gyarados turned around and saw Sean. Kairi saw him as well,"Sean. Were you there the whole time? Why didn't you help me out here?" She asked him.

Sean was amazed by the red, shining Gyarados that turned to notice him. "No, I just got hear when I heard you were battling a Team Rocket member, and you screamed. I came here as fast as I could to check that you were alright." Sean could tell that she was now, and she's very happy that her Magikarp evolved into a great Pokemon. Yet, he still had to get back to Vermilion, "Kairi, wanna come to Vermilion City with me? It's an amazing place. You'd like it."

"Yea. Let's take the long way around on top of Gyarados though the water," Kairi said excited. Gyarados looked excited as well to have people on it's back.

"Your Gyarados is a great Pokemon Kairi. Thanks for helping me out here," Misty said as she called back Staryu. She handed Kairi a book,"Here Kairi this is all the info you'll need to know about water Pokemon."

"Geee, thanks a lot Misty," Kairi said as she took the book.

Misty turned to Sean,"So Sean how are your Pokemon doing?"

"I'm fine." Sean liked to see Misty again, since the Gym battle he had with her was nice. "So then, Misty. How are your Pokemon doing?" Sean asked politely, wondering if her Pokemon were as tough as his yet. "Mine are alright. Just had a battle against a Rocket Grunt though. Also, had a battle against Kairi. How are yours?" she asked in return. "Mine are alright, they've been trained up a whole lot since our Gym battle." Sean turned to Kairi and winked. Sean then turned back to the present, and remembered that they had to go to Vermilion. "So, Kairi. I guess we better be going, the Gym might close for lunch soon."
