[Best Veteran March/May 2011] A new professor in town - Kanto Adventure PG13

"So its finally time..." Sam whispered, realizing what time it finally was. The time for his final match. He was already inside the ice field, his latest selection when the ref came over.

"Are you...?" the ref said. Sam instantly cut him off.

"Yes, I'm Sam. Heading up now. Bye," Sam said, stepping onto the podium. He instantly started moving upward and it eventually stopped even with his opponent, who had a confident look.

"Hey, Sam..." Graham said.

"How do you know my...oh yeah...Graham..." Sam said, remembering the draw.

"Ready for this? The final round before the finals..." Graham said, looking at the crowd.

"I've never been more so...ready for your last fight in the tournament?" Sam asked, attempting to mimic Graham's confidence.

"Sam, are you ready?" the ref asked, suddenly interuppting their conversation.

"Yes," Sam said, reaching for Onix's pokeball.

"Graham, are you ready?" the ref asked.

"Totally," Graham said, doing the same.

"Then let the match begin!" the ref yelled.

"Onix!" Sam yelled, tossing out his pokeball.

"Nidorino!" Graham yelled at the same time. Both pokemon appeared. This was going to be an epic match.

"Let's show 'em your Tackle!" Sam yelled. Onix charged in with all its force.

"Poison Sting!" Graham yelled. Nidorino charged at Onix, its horn now glowing purple.

"Not bad, but Onix is just bigger!" Sam yelled.

"Yeah, but can he avoid this? Dodge the attack, then hit him on the side between the joints!" Graham yelled. Nidorino dodged right, then stuck Onix with its horn. Onix let out a roar of pain. That pokemon was small and fast...trouble.

"You can't take me like that! Go! Double Kick!" Graham yelled.

"Okay! Gyro Ball!" Sam yelled. Onix started to spin as Nidorino jumped in the air. It crashed into its foe at high spin speed, knocking it backwards into the wall.

"You still so sure you can win?" Sam asked, his confidence making its way back.

"Of course I can! Go! Peck between the joints!" Graham yelled. Nidorino started to charge, but Sam had prepared a strategy for this kind of moment.

"Screech!" he yelled. Onix let out a burst of sound at Nidorino, who was caught in it as it ran. It was knocked back into the wall behind it.

"Ouch...that's gotta hurt. Still, this'll hurt more! Rock Throw!" Sam yelled. Onix tossed a couple of rocks at Nidorino, but Graham smiled.

"Double Kick to defend!" he yelled.

"Crap..." Sam whispered. The rocks were deflected by a pair of powerful kicks.

"Well, got anything else?" Graham asked.

"As a matter of fact...yes. Dig!" Sam yelled. Onix buried under the ground yet it remained completely visible.

"What good will that do you?" Graham mocked.

"Wait for it...Gyro Ball!" Sam yelled. Onix started to spin, cracking the ice. It was like Earthquake except stronger. The ice cracked, causing Nidorino to fall as several fissures started to form.

"But...how?!" Graham screamed, confused.

"Too much motion under the surface causes the ice to break...this is gonna be really fun...go! Hit it!" Sam yelled. Onix forced its way out of the ice and hit Nidorino from below now that it was on the ground. Easy target.

"Ouch!" Graham said.

"Yep. Now smack it with your tail!" Sam yelled. Onix flicked its huge tail and knocked Nidorino flying.

"Gr! Go with Double Kick!" Graham yelled. Nidorino caught its footing and charged almost immediatly after it hit the ground. It charged forward and landed two harsh blows on Onix's face.

"Take that!" Graham yelled, gaining cofidence.

"Okay...nice moves, you did a very good job...and now...its time to go over! Use Screech!" Sam yelled. Onix let another burst of sound out of its mouth, knocking Nidorino into the wall.

"Grr...go for it! Poison Sting!" Graham yelled.

"Go for it with Gyro Ball!" Sam yelled. Onix spun and moved forward slowly as Nidorino charged with a purple horn. The two attacks collided, but only Nidorino flew back into a wall, knocked out.

"Onix wins the first round!" the ref yelled. Sam cheered as Graham returned his pokemon with a sullen look.

"Please send out your next pokemon, Graham," the ref said, looking at Graham.

"Hm...Kadabra!" Graham yelled, throwing out another pokeball. A golden colored pokemon with a purple star on its forehead and a spoon in its right hand appeared.

"Great...the PSI pokemon...just like Tyron..." Sam whispered, remembering that fight. Not one of his better battles, but it was important. Vee had evolved into Umbre...and won the day. Now it was all happening again, but this time he didn't have Vee to help him. This time he had to rely on Onix to take it, but could Onix handle it?

"Sam, is Onix going to be continuing?" the ref asked.

"Yeah! Let's do it!" Sam said. He was really fired up now...yet something was holding him back from going wild...perhaps the same thing that kept the darkness from taking over...the light within him. Either way, he could take it.

"Let the match...BEGIN!" the ref yelled.

"Go for it with Rock Throw!" Sam yelled. Onix tossed two rocks at Kadabra, but it simply stood there unphased.

"Okay...go! Confusion!" Graham said. Kadabra's spoon glowed blue as the rocks did the same. Suddenly, they stopped, suspended in the air.

"Now throw them!" he yelled. The rocks started to move again, but this time at Onix.

"Crap..." Sam whispered as the rocks hit. They flew down to Onix's tail and reattached.

"Hm...you're not going to do so well..." Graham said, mocking Sam now.

"Hm...say what you will. I haven't had to do this at all so far...but return," Sam said, returning Onix to his pokeball for later.

"What was that all about?" Graham asked.

"Heh...just getting a better pokemon for this situation...Cloy!" Sam yelled, grabbing Cloy's pokeball. Umbre would be a good choice, but he might need her for later.

"Cloys...ter!" Cloy cried, appearing from its pokeball.

"Hm...very well! Begin!" the ref yelled.

"Psybeam!" Graham yelled, annoyed by this move.

"Go, Protect!" Sam yelled. A beam of energy flew from Kadabra's spoon while a green barrier appeared around Cloy, making it useless.

"Grr..." Graham growled, angry at how easily Sam had blocked this.

"Hey Graham, remember how I used move combonations earlier? Well, here's another! Water Pulse!" Sam yelled. Cloy launched a huge sphere of water at Kadabra, hitting it hard the in the stomach.

"Kadabra!" Graham gasped.

"Now! Aurora Beam!" Sam yelled. Cloy launched a multicolored beam at Kadabra, causing an aura of light to surround it. When the light faded, Kadabra was frozen solid.

"No! Kadabra!" Graham screamed.

"Now hit it! Poison Jab!" Sam yelled. Cloy propelled itself forward and hit Kadabra dead on with the horn on its shell. It hit Kadabra dead on the stomach. The ice broke as it flew backwards. This seemed to be the last straw for Graham, as he started to yell.

"THAT...IS...IT! I'm sick of you! You wanna throw down? I'll freakin' throw down! Let's go! Confusion!" Graham yelled. Kadabra's spoon glowed blue again just as Cloyster did the same. It was lifted off the ground and at Graham's mercy, which Sam figured at this time was nonexistant.

"Go! Throw it, then use Psybeam!" Graham yelled. Cloy was helplessly tossed back into a wall, then had a beam of energy shot at it directly through its shell.

"We can't do anything...close your shell!" Sam yelled.

"Throw it!" Graham yelled, gaining a little confidence as Sam had gone to defense. Cloy could take a few hits, so it was time to focus now. Kadabra obviously had ability, though its power needed work. The first set of moves he had used did a large amount of damage. Still. The shell couldn't hold off Psybeam's damage. Cloy was still taking hits. He had to end this fast. Water Pulse wouldn't have enough power at once to take Psybeam and could easily be countered. Aurora Beam might be able to, though.

Sam shook his head and became aware of his surroundings once more. At this point, Kadabra was releasing an avalanche on Cloy, which wasn't a good sign. It was definately running low on air now...it was time.

"Go! Open your shell and fire Aurora Beam!" Sam yelled. Cloy's shell opened up and a beam of energy flew out, but Graham was ready.

"Go for it with PSYBEAM!" he yelled. A beam flew out of Kadabra's spoon dead at the beam Cloy had fired. The attacks collided and a burst of ice flew out from the beams, freezing everything it touched.

"Crap. Protect!" Sam yelled. Cloy formed a green barrier around itself just in time, stopping the ice from freezing it. Kadabra wasn't so lucky, getting frozen in place.

"Again?!" Graham yelled.

"Yep, but I'll end this fast. Water Pulse!" Sam yelled. Cloy's barrier dissapeared and it fired another burst of water at Kadabra, hitting it dead on. Kadabra flew into the ground, knocked out.

"Kadabra is defeated! Cloyster has won the match!" the ref declared.

"Hm...this much is over, but what's next...?" Sam asked himself quietly. He had three pokemon going into the final match, but would Graham's final pokemon prove to be too much? He'd just have to wait and see...

@Sasuneuchiha - Good start to the battle :)

Congratulations Onix grew to Level 17 and can now learn Rock Tomb, but already knows 8 moves. Should a move be forgotten? (reply in OOC thread)
Congratulations Cloyster (Cloy) grew to Level 21

After the first part of the battle, Tracy was so annoyed at how unlucky she was, it could have cost her the enitre battle. As for Sean, this was another battle that would be no problem like the last ones.
They were thinking of what to use next. Tracy had to decide which one would be lucky enough to get Sean back and make things equal, although there wasn't much choice and everything she had, Sean could handle. She chose any one.
"This time I'll be luckier! Come on, Butterfree!" she sent out her Pokemon onto the stage. Butterfree flew right into the air, looking ready to battle.
This was very weird for Sean as in the last battle with Jasmine, he had to battle a Butterfree, and that was no problem at all for him, easy. However, this Butterfree was slightly stronger so anything was possible. Sean had many many Pokemon to choose that would fight well. So, he just chose any one of them.
"Luck? Don't bet on it. I choose, Flareon!" he first told her not to get her hopes up. Then he sent his Flareon out onto the field. As always, Flareon's coat made the opponent dazzled to see what one looked like.
"Wow, nice. A shiny." she complimented his Flareon, not replying but smiling. Now they had to think about attacks, and there weren't so many attacks that Flareon had but atleast some of them would be super effective on Butterfree. Tracy chose Butterfree's first attack so that Sean wouldn't ruin her chance this time.
"Let's begin with... Tackle!" while not a very strong move, it was a start that if Tracy was lucky, the attack could possibly be critical. The only thing was that if she wanted to push herself in the lead straight away she'd use a better attack, Sean wasn't expecting anything. Butterfree began to flap its wings faster, and then move on closer towards Flareon, getting faster. And then, All of Butterfre''s body had impacted with Flareon, pushing it backards a little bit. The force was a little shocking but Flareon wasn't so hurt, the attack wasn't as good as it could have been.
"That should do it." Tracy was sure that Tackle did the best as it can, Sean didn't agree. Now it was his turn to show her what Flareon can do.
"Ahah, that can't be the best you've got, can it? Come on Flareon, use Sand Attack!" this move would do no damage, but it would seriously help later on in the battle since if the sand would hit Butterfree's eyes, then Butterfree's accuracy will be lowered. Flareon began to produce grains of sand inside its mouth until there were so many. After that, Flareon hurled out this sand in the direction of Butterfree who was flying, and then its weird red eyes were hit by this grainy, rough sand. Butterfree was on the ground, flapping its wings and flopping its head to get the sand out of its eyes but that didn't work, Butterfree was partially blinded.
"I... didn't see that one coming." Tracy didn't know that Flareon would use Sand Attack, and would now have to live with the fact that in this battle Butterfree's moves had a higher chance of missing. Not the start she wanted.
"But I guess you won't see this one coming! Use Confusion!" this was one of Butterfree's better attacks that would do more damage than Tackle with the odds. However, with lowered accuracy the chances of it hitting would not be as high. Butterfree concentrated its calm mind on Flareon's mind, and then both of its pointy antennaes began to glow, then after a "Free!"Butterfree let out a wave of psychic power that went in the right direction towards Flareon who was then struck by this shock wave of mind power. This was a fluke, as Sand Attack had not put Butterfree off.
"See. Sand Attack doesn't always work." Tracy relyed on ehr confidence.
"Works most of the time. Just you wait..." Sean told her what happens in most of the battles, although she didn't care. She knew that nothing worse could happen.
"And now, use Leer!" Sean was still not letting Flareon attack yet, since he wanted to prove Tracy wrong, that luck wouldn't win her the battle if she tried, the odds were against her. Flareon tried to get eye contact with Butterfree. It was hard, since Butterfree's eyes had no pupils so instead it had to face Flareon before anything could happen. When they made eye contact, Flareons eyes squinted to an evil look, and then its eyes began to glow a golden colour. This look made Butterfree feel scared and less defensive, even if there was no damage done.
"Oh... kay." she didn't quite understand why he used Leer as it wasn't a very good move. It was better than nothing and it would set up a plan for him.
"You may not know what I'm doing but atleast I know." Sean knew that she didn't know what he was doing.
"Right then, Butterfree, use Poison Powder!" this was another move that wouldn't do damage. Believe it or not, Butterfree had been the only one dealing damage at this stage, Flareon had yet to attack and this move would make Sean annoyed and then see trhings different. Butterfree began to flutter across the air and headed above Flareon and flew in a circle before scattering a purple powder from its wings. Sand Attack didn't seem to be taking much effect since Butterfree's vision was quite okay, unless it was mind power that got it to know where Flareon was. This powder had quickly reached Flareon, who had breathed in this powder and coughed roughly. When Butterfree stopped and went back to its original spot, Flareon was poisoned and each turn Flareon would lose health. This could give Tracy the advantage unless Sean had a way to combat this.
"Aw... you are good. But not as good as me. Flareon, use Ember!" this move would be super effective on Butterfree so this too would be a good idea to use if Flareon was going to lose heath every turn, plus damage if Butterfree was going to attack. Despite the poison, Flareon heated up a flame in its mouth that got bigger and bigger. Then, Flareon launched this flame in the direction of Butterfree, then coughing afterwards from a sore throat from poison. This burn had quickly hit Butterfree on its weakest spot, its wings. The flame continued to stay there, rather than going away. Butterfree was panicking as it was falling down to the ground. This meant that Butterfree was burned, a burn is the equivalent to poison so they were in the same situation now. Each turn, both of them would lose health. However, since Ember was a strong attack that attacked Butterfree critically, Sean was in the lead and Tracy had to fight back.
"Arrgh... I hate you. Use Supersonic!" she was only joking about the hate part, as her tone of voice gave it away that she was messing. Anyways, Supersonic would make things even worse. Even though it wasn't an attack and quite inaccurate, on hit it would confuse Flareon, giving it the chance to miss and hurt itself each turn. Sean detested this and didn't want it to happen, it was the most annoying thing of the batte if his Pokemon was confused. Butterfree struggled to find Flareon as a result to Sand Attack, unlike the last two turns where it could see fine. Butterfree made a very high pitched noise, that had made a sound wave. But not in the direction of Flareon, in the direction of... Tracy. She screamed and shouted for a couple of seconds.
"Stop!" she sounded really serious when she shouted, and Butterfree listened, stopping using Supersonic. The attack was totally useless, and Flareon wasn't affected even a little bit. The poison in Flareon's throat made it cough a little more as it was losing health, as the burn on Butterfree shone and sparked, making Butterfree flap its wings in pain.
"See, told you Sand Attack would work. Now, Flareon, use Quick Attack!" this is a Normal-typed move that was quite fast and strong at the same time. Most of the times Quick Attack was used, they were quite strong so it would be no problem with Flareon. So, Flareon brushed its paw against the ground to relax its body, and then, Flareon dashed off at the speed of sound, which had left a shiny golden trail along the way from its coat. Then, Flareon took a jump at Butterfree at the same speed, and to Butterfree it was like a rock just fell from the sky out of nowhere. That's how fast the attack was. Tracy didn't know a Quick Attack could be as strong as that, she thought it was just like Tackle.
"Wow, even your Quick Attack is strong. Looks like I'm beat... not! Butterfree, use Tackle!" she still thought Butterfree could do just as good, but with Sand Attack it wasn't going to be that easy. Butterfree tried to seek out when Flareon was. When it didn, Butterfree began to flutter its wings across the air, getting faster as it got closer. The wings felt quite painful from the burn though so this did affect its wings - and since it wasn't fast enough Flareon could see what was about to happen and jump out of the way when Butterfree was close. Butterfree then knew it had missed and went back to its first spot.
"What the... how?" Tracy still couldn't understand why things were going against her right now. However, Sean knew.
"Sand Attack. Not so useless now, is it?" Sean smiled. Now it was his turn.
"Let's use Quick Attack again, Flareon!" even though it was the second time it was used, Quick Attack was quite strong and it was one of its best attacks anyway. Before Flareon took off, it coughed a couple of times as the poison got worse. Butterfree also reacted to the burn by flapping its wings at a high speed, not getting anywhere. When Flareon was ready, it ran at an incredibly fast speed and attacked Butterfree, and returned to where it was first - all this in one second. Butterfree was struggling to stay in the air as the pain from the burn on its wings was spreading and the shock from Quick Attack hurt both physically and mentally.
"I think this is not your lucky day, Tracy." Sean was teasing her. She chose one of Butterfree's best attacks that she was confident could put her back in the lead.
"Aw man! You're too good at it! Come on, Butterfree, just try and concentrate on Flareon and use Gust!" she wanted to make sure that Butterfree was atleast trying to make out where Flareon was before attacking so it wouldn't miss, she couldn't do with that. Butterfree flapped its wings even faster, not just for pain of the burn, but to generate a small tornado that quickly spread across the field. The audience screamed as it went out of control a little, ripping grass out of the stage and killing flowers. This Gust did hit Flareon, and the razor sharp force of the wind was painful, leaving one mark onits body.
"How about those apples?" Tracy was confident in herself again, though she was closer to losing than Sean. Just one attack could make him win.
"How about these? Flareon, finish Butterfree off! Use Ember!" this was Flareon's best, and would be super effective on Butterfree who could barely fly. Sean was sure this would end the second part of the battle for him, but it all depended on how good Ember was. Flareon began to charge a burning flame up within its mouth, until it was a high temperature and was big enough. Then, Flareon let out this ball of fire which had travelled across the air like a tennis ball, smacking Butterfree on the wing once again, exactly where the burn was. As a reaction, the burn got bigger and bigger until Butterfree fell to the ground, and took no more pain. It fainted.
"What?! Oh, come on!" Tracy didn't understand what was happening to her. Not in one battle was she even close to winning.
"Like I said, today aint your lucky day. Looks like you've only got one mroe chance now." Sean smiled at her with cheek, but she didn't care. She knew the last battle would be her best if she tried harder if she could. She returned her Butterfree without saying a thing.
"Flareon, that was awesome. Now we're another step closer to winning, all thanks to you." after congartulating Flareon, he returned it into the PokeBall. The audience cheered at Sean's victory once again, and then calmed down and waited for some more action.

Here it was, the last part of the last battle in the first round of the league. If Sean would win this battle then he would be onto Round 2, which was only 3 rounds away from the final. Sean was doing so well, he couldn't mess it up now. For Tracy it was now survival, and losing this would lose so much time and effort for her.
The audience were waiting for a battle. Sean got his PokeBall
out since heknew what to use, but Tracy was thinking hard as it was crucial that she chose the right one. She made up her mind and knew things couldnt go wrong. She was the one to send out her Pokemon first.
"Here goes nothing... do your best, Bellossom!" she threw the
PokeBall in her hand to the ground to send out Bellossom, a small plant that had two flowers and lots of leaves around its legs as if it were a hula dancer. It looked very happy and energetic, so hopefully it would be good in battle. Since she sent out her Pokemon, Sean sent out his.
"Come on, Arcanine!" he sent out Arcanine onto the field. The
size difefrence was huge, and Arcanine was a Fire-type and Bellossom was a Grass-tpye so Sean had the most chance of winning, Tracy knew she had made the wrong decision.
It depended on whow as going to take the first attack. When put
to good use, Bellossom could be quite a strong and annoying opponent. However, any attack Arcanine would use would make an impact. Even the most weakest of attacks and moves it had. He started off by using one of Arcanine's stronger moves.
"Oh, and, Tracy, I think you might need something real good to
deal with my Arcanine. Arcanine, start off with Take Down!" this attack was one of Arcanine's strongest, and it was infact really strong. Arcanine charged off at a very quick speed since Arcanine had a very high speed stat. Then, quickly, Arcanine took one high leap on top of Bellossom who was half the side of it. The shock and the weight of Arcanine had made Bellossom feel really harmed. However, Arcanine too had taken recoil damage due to taking a full body charge.
"Oh... my..." Tracy didn't know what to do for a second but she
had to do something as the battle had only just begun. Then she realized that there were so many things Bellossom could do to get Arcanine back. There was one strategic move that was rather clever to use.
"No worries. Size don't matter you know. Bellossom, use Sunny
Day!" this move did not do any damage at all, but it would leave a nice sunny environment around the stage. This would have an effect on Bellossom's ability, Chlorophyll, that would raise its speed. However, it would also raise the power of Fire-type attacks, which was what Sean knew. Bellossom stood up, and started to make some kind of effect on the sky that made the weather brighter, hotter and much nicer. The audience liked this and all got fans out to keep themselves cool. Sean laughed.
"Hahaha. Do you have any clue what you've just done?" Sean saw
the side that would give him the advantage, rather than her advantage.
"I don't know if you know this but Bellossom's ability,
Chlorophyll will raise Bellossom's speed. Why you ask?" Bellossom looked like it was even more faster, as it looked so much mroe happy and healthy. sean kept laughing.
"Sunny Day raises the power of Fire-type moves. Arcanine is a
Fire-type and has a couple of them." after saying this, Tracy realized she made a mistake. However she was ready to make a second move.
"Oh well, that don't matter. Come on Bellossom, use Mega Drain!"
she tried to forget about what she just did before it would make her feel more annoyed with herself. Mega Drain was a Grass-type move that would only do half the damage on Arcanine due to not being as effective, but it would heal that little bit of health back. Bellossom began to plant its roots in the ground that reached Arcanine who was lying down on the floor. Then, the roots sucked a little bit of heath out of Arcanine and Bellossom had felt slightly refreshed. However it wasn't enough to erase the damage done by Take Down, nor was it any where near enough as powerful as Take Down so Sean was still in the lead.
"I'll show you that what you just did was a mistake! Arcanine,
show them by using Ember!" this was a Fire-type move and since it was super effective on Bellossom, and the Sunny Day boosted the power means that this will be one hell of an attack. Arcanine began to charge up a flame in its throat that got bigger and bigger and hotter by the second. Then, Arcanine opened its mouth to shoot the flame across the air. This Ember quickly reached Bellossom, and
slapped it right on the leaves covering its legs. This scorched Bellossom and it ran in circles trying to make the flames go away, luckily they did but its leaves turned black from being scorched.
"See." Sean proved that Sunny Day worked on Fire-type moves.
Tracy took what she said back.
"Okay okay, you were right, but that doesn't make you the winner
here." she was determined to carry on, even if she would lose the battle.
"Bellossom, use Leaf Blade!" this was Bellossom's strongest attack and Tracy maswell had use it now since things were going into emergency for her. Even when this wasn't going to be so effective, it had a high critical-hit ratio so that even more damage could be done, a fair amount. Bellossom began to aim at Arcanine, then shoot out lots of leaves in a line that quickly shot across the air and the edges of the leaves slashed Arcanine on the nody, neck and paws. This attack did actually hurt Arcanine a little and the attack was certainly going to be the best thing Tracy could do in the battle.
"Ahh, maybe things won't be so hard after all..." she made herself feel more comfortable. Sean was going to change that.
"Oh I wouldn't bet on that. Come on Arcanine, use Bite!" this was quite a strong move that would do a lot of damage since Arcanine's teeth were quite sharp and big known to cause damage. Sicne Bellossom was quite faster due to Chlorophyll, Tracy took this to advantage.
"Oh really? Well, Bellossom, use Magical Leaf!" the thing about this attack was it wouldn't miss, it was a 100% accuracy move. Although, it would only do half the damage sine it wasn't so effective. Before Arcanine was ready to set off, Bellossom sent out lots of leaves that were strange colours: pink; purple; blue and other mysterious colours. These leaves then followed Arcanine as it was running and then slashed across its body once again. While not as strong as Leaf Blade, it was quite an annoying feeling. Plus, it stopped Arcanine's attack so sean had to try again.
"Hey... that's my plan! Coem on Arcanine, use Agility!" Sean was going to copy Tracy by raising Arcanine's speed and giving it the chance to attack faster. Then, since Arcanine was faster than Bellossom, it would be faster. Arcanine began to jog on the spot for a moment, and then it ran around in a circle in a very high speed which looked as if it left a small gust of wind while it was running in a circle. Then, since Arcanine's body was exercised, it was faster.
"Pssh... copycat." Tracy knew what he was doing, just so he could show off that he could do what she can but better.
"I am allowed to use what I want you know. Oh, and I'm not copying." he did say what was on his mind. She didn't care, she was going to carry on feeling okay so far.
"Right... Bellossom, use Sweet Scent!" this move did no damage and to sean it was quite useless. All it would do was make Bellossom more accurate and Arcanine less evasive. Sean took advantage of Agility.
"I don't think so. Arcanine, use Ember!" he quickly commanded Arcanine before Bellossom got started. Arcanine immediately began to keep a flame in its throat burning bright and hot, and when it was hot enough, this flame was launched out into the air, across the air and hitting Bellossom on the head. This was a much mroe painful spot than the leaves that were hit before, and Bellossom had already lost half of its health atleast. Tracy needed to think of a plan, fast.
"Oh, come on, now that's just annoying. Bellossom, use Leaf Blade and make it strong!" she was close to losing the battle now so she crossed her fingers and hoped that Leaf Blade would do her some good. Right away, Bellossom spun around, shooting a strong of leaves in the direction of Arcanine, who was lying on the floor for a minute, resting. These leaves swiped oevr Arcanine a couple of times, which had hurt quite a bit. Probably the strongest attack used in the battle so far, Arcanine barked.
"Trust me, it's a little too late now. Good luck trying to beat me at this stage, you're gunna need it." Sean knew he was close to finishing Bellossom off. Tracy had other plans.
"What, and knock me outta the league? OH no, I aint giving up so easily." she was determined to fight for her place in the league, but so was Sean. He was closer to winning anyway, so eh was ready to make another attack.
"Well one of us has to lose, and it won't be me. Arcanine, use Bite!" second time lucky since before the attack had missed, after Bellossom cancelled its attack. arcanine was seriously ready to make a strong attack, so it ran off the ground at a high speed on all four paws with its tail wagging from side to side. Then, Arcanine's teeth were bared, ready to take one big Bite on Bellossom, and when it was clsoe enough, it did and the damage was vital. The attack made Bellossom jump in shock as it didn't expect its teeth to be that sharp. It couldn't take much mroe, neither could Tracy.
"I can't take much more of this... Bellossom, use Magical Leaf and make it your strongest!" she was losing her temper along with her nerve in how she was losing everything she had fought for, a place in the next round of the league. Bellossom began to aim at Arcanine, and several different bright-coloured leaves were being shot out and shooting across the air, reaching Arcanine's body quickly. These leaves swiped across Arcanine's back, like Leaf Blade, only not as strong. This time, the sharp edges of the leaves had left a cut on Arcanine which was very sore. While there was a painful side t it, this had also made arcanine very angry and aggressive, making it stronger upon attacks. Now Sean was posotive that he could win.
"Kiss goodbye to winning the league, Tracy. Arcanine, finish Bellossom off with a nice, hot Flame Wheel!" this was Arcanine's strongest Fire-type attack and with Sunny Day, the super effective bonus and Arcanine's aggression combined, this attack was going to seriously hurt Bellossom, not like it could take much more. Arcanine rushed off at a very fast speed, looking very angry. Then, flames began to circle around its body like a wheel. Arcanine had then collaided with Bellosom's small body, as did all the extra hot flames that scorched Bellossom and lit it on fire for a few seconds. Tracy screamed, until Bellossom fainted to the ground and the flames fell away.
"Oh... no..." she had nothing to say. She was now totally depressed as this cost her place in the league. Her chances were out and she could do nothing more. The audience cheered for Sean, leaving Tracy even more depressed.
"Well, I guess you win. Fair is fair. Coem on, Bellossom, you deserve a rest. Even if you didn'twin, you put up a fight." she returned Bellossom and walked out of the arena slowly. Sean was over the moon, he couldn't say much.
"Arcanine... you're the best. That was amazing, you won an awesome battle. Keep it up." he also had returned his Pokemon, leaving nothing else to do. Natasha was so excited, seeing Sean do so well in his battle. She felt so good to be with him. Sean looked at her and waved, then headed to the lounge again to take a break.

(sorry for some sentences that look like short paragraphs. something happened when trying to copying and pasting it to wordpad and it turned funny).

This was it. The last battle of the opening rounds. Warren grimaced as he stepped out into the morning light, taking in the packed stadium, the crowds surrounding a long, deep pool, on which several floats were, um, floating. The other end of the arena was noticeably devoid of any opposition. Warren grinned. For the first time, he'd actually arrived before his opponent. Then, someone walked in. Warren frowned. He felt like he should have made a witty insult by now, but he was just too flabbergasted to speak. He was fairly sure that the person at the other end was a boy, but seeing as he was wearing a pink waistcoat and a baby blue beret, it was a little hard to tell. He glanced at Warren and sniffed disapprovingly.

"Just what have you done with that hair?" he called in the most irritating voice imaginable, "It looks like you have a Tangela balanced on your head!" Warren rolled his eyes.

"You're wearing a beret!" he retorted, "You're in no position to criticise anyone!" The boy just sniffed and stuck his nose in the air. A tired-looking referee hurried in and took his position at the side of the pool as the commentator's voice rang out.

"This match on the Water Field will be between Warren Simmons of Pallet Town and Paul Harte of Cerulean City!" Warren just nodded, but Paul glanced up at him gasping. The referee stepped forwards.

"Trainers, release your first Pokemon!" Paul nodded and produced a Pokeball which for some odd reason, looked to be a pale blue.

"Tentacool, let's go!" In a burst of white light, a blue and red jellyfish burst out of the ball, but for some odd reason, so did a cluster of floating pink hearts, which quickly dissolved into thin air. Warren frowned.

"This isn't a contest, you idiot! Why did you bother with a ball capsule?" Paul pouted.

"Well, look at my Tentacool! Doesn't he just look adorable !" Warren frowned again.

"Yeah, whatever. Venonat, come on out!" With a matching burst of white light, the blue-eyed bug jumped onto the field, landing squarely on one of the floats and chattering excitedly. The referee raised both flags above his head as he shouted:

"Alright, BEGIN!"

"Tentacool, use Supersonic!"

"Venonat, you too!" Venonat and the jellyfish both glanced at each other, froze for a second, then screeched at the tops of their voices. Warren winced at the sound - like a cheese grater on a blackboard. Suddenly, the sound shuddered to a halt and the two Pokémon glanced around, both confused. Warren grimaced.

"Try a Sludge Bomb!"

"Tentacool, Constrict!" Rather predictably, both attacks failed miserably. Tentacool flew through the air before grabbing hold of one of the smaller platforms. Venonat, meanwhile, ran in circles while firing balls of putrid slime in every direction apart from where Tentacool was. Warren grimaced as the bug ran onto one of the spots it had already bombarded and promptly slipped over, crashing face first onto the platform. Growling, it picked itself up, seemingly having shaken off the confusion and glanced at the befuddled Tentacool, which was still squeezing the small float as tightly as possible. Warren grinned.

"Leech Life!" The bug glanced at the Tentacool, then made a huge leap to land neatly on its head, before bending and sinking its teeth into the top of the blue cap. Tentacool instantly froze and shook crazily, but Venonat hung on. The jellyfish gave a growl, then dived deep into the pool. For a second, only bubbles were visible, then Venonat shot out, its body surrounded by a faint blue aura as it rose into the air, chuckling. Tentacool surfaced, glaring angrily at the airborne bug. Paul gasped.

"Oh, you hurt my pretty Pokémon!" he shouted angrily, "Your silly little bug is going to pay for that! Bubblebeam!" Tentacool's two red orbs glowed with a bright blue light and Venonat flew back cautiously. Seconds later, a torrent of bubbles flew out and headed straight for the bug. With the aura intensifying, it shot higher into the air, before gracefully backflipping away from the dangerous stream of bubbles. Grinning, but panting from the mental strain, Venonat slowly touched down on another platform. Paul noticed its tiredness.

"Now, Constrict!" he shouted in that irritating girly voice. Tentacool immediately ducked beneath the water, then reappeared seconds later in front of Venonat. The shocked bug was too slow to dodge and Tentacool wrapped a long tentacle around and squeezed hard. Venonat squealed, but it was completely trapped. Warren grimaced, then held out a Pokeball.

"Venonat, return!" At once, a beam of red light latched onto Venonat and pulled it back into the Pokeball. Tentacool growled, but drifted back, ready for whatever came next. Warren grinned.

"Alright, Elekid, let's go!" With a growl, the pronged Pokémon burst onto one of the floats, staring at Tentacool.

"Thundershock!" Elekid grinned, then jumped to the edge of the platform and sat down, its legs dangling in the water. Tentacool froze as it immediately realised what this meant. Wherever it went in the water, it would be zapped. But if it jumped onto one of the platforms, it would be left helpless. Before it was given a chance to react, however, Elekid whirled its arms and sparks flew between its horns, before bright yellow electricity shot through its body and into the water, electrifying the entire pool. Paul gasped as Tentacool screamed and smoked, but Elekid just grinned. Cutting off the flow of electricity, it charged forwards, jumping between the floats before leaping into the air and coming down in a powerful Low Kick. Both Pokémon sunk beneath the surface. Seconds later, Elekid popped up, chuckling, and clambered back onto a float, shaking itself down. Tentacool popped up a second after, face down and looking very frazzled. Paul gasped.

"Oh, my poor little Tentacool!" he screeched, "How could you hurt him!" Warren rolled his eyes.

"That is sort of the point…" Paul simply made an annoying little noise and threw his next Pokeball. This time, a Psyduck popped out onto a float opposite Elekid, surrounded by stars. It glanced at Elekid and chuckled. Warren ignored it.

"Shock Wave!" Elekid grinned, his arms whirling, then released the newly learned attack. Unlike Thundershock, the electricity formed into a twisting bolt which shot straight at Psyduck. The yellow duck threw itself to the floor and the lightning shot overhead, but Warren grinned. As Psyduck got to its feet, the attack turned and shot back to hit the duck in the back, sending it flying into the water. It came up later, looking a little fried and very angry. Elekid sniggered. Paul just looked annoyed.

"Fine, Psyduck, take him down! Water Pulse!" Psyduck grinned and raised one stubby arm, wreathed in blue light. Jumping forwards, it smashed its lit up hand into the water, sending a powerful pulse shooting through the water at Elekid. The electrical Pokémon stepped backwards, right to the far edge of the platform, but the wave smashed straight through it and knocked Elekid into the water. It surfaced a few seconds later, spitting out water and squealing angrily. Paul laughed.

"Now, Water Gun!" Psyduck opened its beak and shot out a few seconds later, smacking Elekid dead on. It was thrown backwards, smashing into the wall of the pool, right at Warren's feet. Panting and coughing up water, it slowly climbed onto a nearby float, noticeably too small to allow any movement. Warren gritted his teeth.

"Shock Wave, again!" Elekid yelled out as it spun its arms, firing a bolt of lightning straight at Psyduck.

"Confusion!" Psyduck grinned, its eyes suddenly glowing blue. Suddenly, the bolt shuddered to a halt, before spinning around and shooting straight back at Elekid. It had just enough time to decide it was screwed before the Shock Wave hit it and Elekid was blasted off its feet, flying back to land in the water at Warren's feet, splashing him. Annoyed, he held out Elekid's Pokeball and returned the unconscious Pokémon, before grabbing another ball from his pocket and throwing it.

"Time for another fight, Venonat!" he shouted as the bug burst out onto one of the platforms. It chirruped and looked at Psyduck, the tinge of psychic blue still present in its eyes. Warren and Paul locked eyes and grinned.

"Confusion!" they shouted together and the two Pokémon both raised their hands, their eyes alight. But nothing seemed to happen. Then, Warren saw it. In between the two combatants, a faint blue shimmer hovered in the air, like a heat haze. Venonat and Psyduck were both trying to overcome their opponent, but now they were doing it mentally, not physically. Venonat's eyes glowed a little brighter and Psyduck slid back a few inches, but it dug in with its claws and stopped, growling angrily at the bug. This could go either way. Psyduck had taken a Shock Wave, but Venonat had fought Tentacool as well. Psyduck skidded back another foot, before screeching to a halt again. Now, the backs of its feet were hanging precariously over the edge of the platform. Slowly, it lifted a foot and stepped forwards, seemingly pushing against an invisible wall. Venonat's eyes were burning with a blue fire, but still, Psyduck continued, pushing against it and slowly gaining ground. Warren gasped. How was it breaking through? Then he saw it. As Psyduck steadily gained ground, a small float rose into the air behind it. Warren grinned as he realised what Venonat was doing. Slowly, the float moved forwards until it was right behind Psyduck. Paul gasped.

"Psyduck!" he shouted, "Look behind you!" The duck glanced over its shoulder and started as it saw the floating platform. That was all Venonat needed. With its enemy's concentration gone, Venonat cackled as it threw Psyduck straight through the weak float and into the far pool wall. It groaned as it floated face down, a few bubbles escaping its bill. Warren glanced at Venonat. It looked pretty tired.

"Return!" the two trainers shouted together, Warren already reaching for his third Pokeball.

"Let's go, Poliwhirl!" he shouted and the large tadpole leapt onto the field, diving straight into the water. Finally, Warren had a Pokémon that could properly use the field. Paul stared at Poliwhirl. Then, he burst out laughing. Warren frowned.

"What's so funny?" Paul just laughed harder.

"Oh, you have no idea, do you? Oh, well…" slowly, he composed himself and wiped the tears of laughter from his eyes.

"Maybe I should just show you…come on out, Poliwrath!" Warren gaped at the giant, muscled tadpole that jumped out onto one of the platforms, flexing its arms threateningly. This was not good. Paul just sniggered.

"Water Pulse!" Poliwrath immediately dived into the water, shooting towards Poliwhirl. As it neared it, the larger tadpole raised a blue arm and smashed it into the water, sending a powerful wave that bodily lifted Poliwhirl and smashed it into the wall. Growling, it glared angrily at Poliwrath, then dived down deep. Warren grinned.

"Bubblebeam!" Poliwrath glanced down, just as a torrent of bubbles fired up from below the surface, lifting it high into the air.

"Now, Double Slap!" Poliwhirl jumped out of the water, hand drawn back, but Paul just laughed.

"Brick Break!" Before Poliwhirl could strike, Poliwrath had lifted an arm and brought it crashing down on the smaller tadpole's head. With a loud groan, Poliwhirl went crashing down, landing hard on one of the larger floats. Warren winced. That couldn't be good. Slowly, Poliwhirl struggled to its feet but it was clearly in pain. Paul sniggered.

"Face it, your Poliwhirl is outmatched. Poliwrath's sheer physical strength leaves you with no chance!" Warren frowned.

"Maybe we can't take you on in hand-to-hand, but there are other ways to battle! Water Gun!" Paul laughed as Poliwhirl exuded a torrent of water and indeed, the attack seemed to have no effect at all.

"Are you dim or just trying to lose? My Poliwrath, like many others, is able to absorb water attacks through its skin, meaning not only is Water Gun ineffective, it actually heals my Pokémon!" Warren gasped. Water Pulse had hurt Poliwhirl, after all. He must have been unlucky enough to get one without the awesome ability. And if he couldn't attack physically, or with water techniques, there was only one thing left.

"Hypnosis he shouted and Poliwhirl glared at Poliwrath as its spiral whirled, creating a hypnotic effect. Poliwrath blinked, completely zoned out, then collapsed on his platform, snoring. Warren grinned.

"Water Gun and Body Slam combo!" he shouted and Poliwhirl nodded, before firing a jet of water into the platform it was standing on, catapulting it high into the air. Spinning around, it began to fall, picking up momentum before crashing into Poliwrath and smashing straight through the weak platform it was lying on.

"Alright!" Paul growled.

"Don't get cocky, Warren! You're still going down!" The two fighters surfaced and jumped onto the central platform, growling at each other. Both looked tired, but Poliwrath looked noticeably more pumped up than Poliwhirl. Though of course, that could just be because its muscles made it twice as heavy as the smaller tadpole. Of course! That was it! Poliwrath's arm muscles were massive, but its legs weren't much bigger than Poliwhirl's and with all that extra weight, it wasn't going to be zooming around the place.

"Get on the move, Poliwhirl!" Warren shouted, "But keep out of the water!" If it came to swimming, that thing could out-speed damn near anything. Poliwhirl nodded, then jumped to one of the other platforms. Paul chuckled.

"Running away won't do you any good! Poliwrath, Double Slap!" The larger tadpole followed suit, jumping from platform to platform, though noticeably slower than Poliwhirl. Still, it was steadily cornering the smaller tadpole and, with one final leap, it straddled two separate platforms, blocking off all platforms apart from the tiny one that Poliwhirl was standing on. Warren sniggered.

"We're not trapped yet! Water Gun on the platform!" Poliwhirl grinned as it fired a powerful jet of water down to its feet, firing itself high into the air, soaring across half the arena to land, skidding, on the central platform again.

"Now, Body Slam!" Poliwhirl set off again, leaping across the platforms and Poliwrath had barely turned round when the smaller tadpole barrelled into it, knocking it into the water. Poliwhirl grinned, and jumped back to the central platform as Poliwrath surfaced, clambering up. As it did, it spasmed a few times, its movements oddly jerky. Warren grinned. Body Slam must have hit a nerve – literally. Paul grimaced.

"Oh, we're not done yet, Warren! Bubblebeam!" Now, Poliwhirl was thrown to the ground by a barrage of bubbles. Poliwrath advanced, grinning.

"Brick Break!" Laughing, Poliwrath raised an arm and brought it crashing down on the struggling Poliwhirl's head. Warren gasped as it fell to the ground. But, once more, it slowly struggled up, its hands scrabbling as it desperately tried to stand up.

"Brick Break!" Again, the larger tadpole smashed its arm into Poliwhirl. Warren just, stared as, once more, it gradually stood up, staring defiantly at Poliwrath. He...couldn't…

"Again!"

"No!" Warren looked away, not wanting to watch. But something was wrong. He hadn't heard the sound of Poliwrath's attack. Paul gasped. Slowly, dreading what he might see, Warren looked up, and gaped in shock. Standing there defiantly, arm raised in defence, was Poliwhirl. Poliwrath scowled, trying to force its arm down but Poliwhirl was determined and slowly, ever so slowly, it pushed back until it was standing once more, Poliwrath's arm still held firm in its hand. Warren grinned.

"Double Slap!" Poliwhirl raised its free hand and smacked Poliwrath brutally across the face. The larger tadpole reeled back, but Poliwhirl brought its hand back and hit it again, and again, and again. Poliwrath groaned in pain as large red marks appeared on its face. Warren nodded.

"Alright, Poliwhirl, finish it! Body Slam!" Poliwhirl grinned, then threw back the arm that was still held in its hand, before leaping back to take a run-up. Glaring at Poliwrath, the smaller tadpole charged and smacked Poliwrath hard, smacking it clear off the platform and into the water. Both Warren and Paul stared into the depths of the pool, trying to see what was happening. Eventually, Poliwrath's head broke the surface again, eyes closed. Poliwrath…was defeated. Poliwhirl sighed as it fell to its knees in a mixture of pain and relief. Warren shouted out loud.

"That was awesome!" he yelled, jumping forwards to join his injured Pokémon on the float, kneeling down beside it. Poliwhirl looked at him, grinning weakly. Warren grinned again, looking at Paul who was returning his Pokémon with a bitter look on his face. The commentator's voice rung out again as Warren stood up.

"And with that win, Warren Simmons will be going onto the next round of battles, Round 2 – the last round of three on threes! Join us next time for even more battling action!" Warren grinned, looking down at Poliwhirl again.

"Y'know, I reckon that after that performance, you deserve a reward." Warren winked, "And there's a Water Stone in my bag with your name on it!"

OOC: lol 6 pages

Sean walked into the lounge, where there about just around 100 people sitting down on the comfy seats and chatting, drinking and eating while they had their break. The place looked like a huge coffee shop, where people all got together for a good chat. Sean noticed Natasha on her own for a second, she didn't see him yet as she was busy drinking her hot chocolate out of a mug. Sean decided to join the line to go and get something to drink and sit with her.
The menu behind the counter shown so many drinks and so many sandwiches, he never thought about buying anything in the previous rounds because he hadn't had enough time to do so. The queue got shorter as there were so many lanes where people were served, so Sean was next.
"Hi, what can I get you?" the girl at the counter was ready to take his order.
"I'll have one hot chocolate and a cheese sandwich please." he just chose the first thing that came to mind. The girl then pushed some buttons at the till.
"That will be 10 PokeDollars please." it was a bit much for just a drink and sandwich but it was okay, so Sean handed her the money and then she went to make the hot chocolate quickly. She then returned to give it to him.
"Here you are. Enjoy your time in the lounge." she gave him the hot chocolate on a tray, and he walked off to get a couple of sugars, plus a spoon and a stirrer for the hot chocolate. Then, he went over towards Natasha and poked her on the back to get her attention.
"You're here!! I'm so happy for you, you're doing so well!" she got all excited looking as if she was making a scene. Sean laughed and took a seat on the leather sofa with her. He put his food on the table and then began a conversation with her.
"Man, that battle was easy. She really was really simple. God, how simple can you get?" Sean didn't mind backchatting her when she wasn't in the room. Natasha was happy to see him do so well.
"Yeah, Arcanine really knows how to put up a fight. Always has, hasn't it? You had that battle in the bag all that time. And now, you're only a couple of rounds away from the quarter finals!" she was so excited near the end. Sean couldn't believe that, he was close to being one of the eight people left in the league. However, there were a lot of people in this room competeing against each other. He took a sip of his hot chocolate and a bite of his cheese sandwich, then decided to check out what was in his bag.
"Hey, let's see what's in my bag that could be useful." just incase he was in trouble, it would be handy for him to check if there was anything that could save him. There was nothing in most of the compartments, until he reached one disc. A bright orange coloured disc, a TM. Although, Sean couldn't remember where he got this.
"Hey, remember this thing?" Sean shown it to Natasha, so he would know what it is.
"Oh yeah, you got that from Blaine didn't you? That's the move for... Overheat, or something." luckily she remembered. Sean was shocked. A very good move, and if he taught Arcanine then it would certainly win him a good battle.
"Oh yeah! How could I forget! I gotta teach Arcanine this, it could help." Sean got a PokeBall out that was holding Arcanine, then he pushed the button to let it out. Arcanine sat on four legs, wondering what was going on.
"Hey, Arcanine, let's teach you a new move." Sean got the disc ready, and Arcanine put on a smile. It was always exciting for a Pokemon to learn a new move. He put the disc to Arcanine's cream-coloured chest and the TM began to glow, showing it was taking effect. And then, the disc disintegrated as it transmitted all the data to Arcanine, who now learnt the new move, Overheat, which he was going to use in his next battle if he could.
"Awesome!" both Sean and Natasha said at the same time. They carried on with their conversation and having their lunch while Arcanine sat out across the floor, relaxing. It was going to be a while until the next battle, so they all got comfortable, as did everyone else in the lounge.

@Bulletproof -
Congratulations Arcanine can now learn Overheat, but already knows 8 moves. Which move should be forgotten? (reply in OOC thread)

"Well? You going to send out that pokemon?" Sam asked.

"Yeah...just getting everything pumped up...NOW! Lapras!" Graham yelled. A huge, blue pokemon appeared from the pokeball.

"Hm...that's gonna be tough...but I'll stick," Sam said.

"Very well...let the match...continue!" the ref yelled.

"Show it Icicle Spear!" Sam yelled. Three spears shot from Cloy's shell directly at Lapras, but Graham simply laughed.

"Ha! Weak move! Show 'em your Ice Shard!" he yelled. Lapras opened its mouth and three pieces of ice flew out, breaking the spears.

"No..." Sam whispered as the shards continued, hitting Cloy's exposed body.

"You can't take Lapras!" Graham yelled, mocking him now.

"He's right...I can't beat it with Cloy or Onix...but Pika can! Still, I have to weaken it so that I don't lose. It'll take an effort from all three of you guys, but we...we can do it! Now, let's see...the things's big...strong...but probably really slow...we'll have ot use that to our advantage. Hm...but how? I've got it...GO! Water Pulse!" Sam yelled.

"Show it your Water Pulse!" Graham yelled. The two pokemon fired spheres of water at eachother. They collided in midair, but Lapras's was better, flying through and hitting Cloy.

"Hit it! Body Slam!" Graham yelled as Cloy was recovering from the hit. Lapras lobbed its weight at Cloy.

"Toxic Spikes..." Sam whispered. Spikes flew out of Cloy's shell.

Lapras, however, continued to fall, crushing it when suddenly, Lapras cried out in pain.

"Wait, what?" Graham cried, confused by the pain.

"Really now, Graham? Haven't you taken into considerations the fact that the shell Cloyster has is very spiky and thus, painful to fall on. Still, good move..." Sam whispered. Lapras was poisoned now...and his trainer didn't realize it. Still, he had to get some damage done...

"Use Water Pul..." Graham started, but was immediatly cut off.

"Poison Jab!" Sam yelled. Cloy thrust its point up at Lapras, sticking it in its stomach. Lapras jumped off, now in extreme pain.

"Grr..." Graham growled, annoyed by how quickly Sam had reacted. That was going to be a pain, but he still had the upper hand.

"Let's do it then. You're going to be a pain, so let's end it! Confuse Ray!" Graham yelled.

"No!" Sam screamed. This was the end of Cloy. The beam connected and Cloy started freaking out.

"Hm...no point in continuing. Return," Sam said, bringing Cloy back into its pokeball.

"Is Cloyster defeated?" the ref asked.

"...yes..." Sam whispered.

"Very well...send out your next pokemon," the ref said.

"Hm..ONIX!" Sam yelled. He tossed the pokeball and the rock snake appeared again. The crowd gasped about Sam's move.

"Hm...they can gasp all they want. I can still take it...go!" Sam yelled.

"Let the match continue!" the ref yelled.

"Show it an easy doom! Water Pulse!" Graham yelled.

"Like hell you do! Use Gyro Ball!" Sam yelled. Onix started spinning as the water came, but it was just pulled in as part of the attack.

"Shoot..." Graham whispered. Onix glided closer and eventually hit Lapras. It went flying, but seemed uninjured overall.

"Hm...still. Every bit counts," Sam reminded himself. All that mattered now was that he did as much as possible before he pulled out Pika.

"SHOW IT ICE SHARD!" Graham yelled. Lapras fired several shards out of his mouth that hit Onix hard in the head. It appeared to do a fair amount of damage, as Onix flinched.

"Now! Use Body Slam!" Graham yelled.

"Rage!" Sam yelled. Onix seemed to get angrier as the attack started. Lapras jumped and hit Onix dead on with the attack, yet Onix felt little other than anger.

"Hm..." Sam said, waiting.

"WATER GUN!" Graham yelled. Lapras shot a stream of water at Onix, which got it a bit more annoyed and did a fair bit of damage.

"Hm..." Sam hummed. It was almost time.

"NOW! Finish it off with Ice Shard!" Graham yelled. Lapras fired off the shards again, hitting Onix. It was blazing with fury now. This was it!

"GO! Rock Tomb!" Sam yelled. Onix threw off Lapras, then smashed the ground with its tail. Several rocks crashed into Lapras as they appeared from the ground, trapping it.

"NO!" Graham yelled.

"Now smash it with your tail!" Sam yelled. Onix brought its tail down on Lapras, causing damage and putting it in extreme pain, but this made it angry. Very angry.

"FINISH IT OFF! WATER PULSE!" Graham yelled. Lapras fired one burst of water that hit Onix dead on. It shook, then fell to the ground.

"Hm...good job, Onix. Return," Sam said. The pokeball's light enveloped Onix as it was sucked in.

"That's two down each...we're even...and I'm going to WIN!" Graham yelled.

"No chance. No chance at all! This match is MINE! Pika, let's do it!" Sam yelled. He tossed a third pokeball and the small electric mouse appeared, its body shocking all over.

"Let the final round of this match...BEGIN!" the ref yelled.

"Hit it fast! Body Slam!" Graham yelled.

"You can't get away with that forever! Use Quick Attack to dodge it!" Sam yelled. Lapras lept forward in an attempt to crush Pika, but it was easily dodged by the high speed attack.

"Ice Shard!" Graham yelled.

"Thundershock," Sam replied. Pika loosed a small jolt of electricity that simply broke all the ice, nothing else.

"Stop being defensive!" Graham yelled.

"Make me," Sam smirked. This guy was a piece of cake once you got him mad.

"WATER PULSE!" Graham screamed. Lapras charged a ball of water as Sam saw his chance.

"Now! Hit the attack with Thunderbolt!" he yelled. Pika fired a large burst of electricity right at the attack, causing huge damage to Lapras.

"Hm...fire!" he yelled. The burst of water was still there as Sam and Pika both cringed. Pika had learned the powerful attack fairly recently and thus had little control over it at that time. It couldn't move for a second after it used it and was hit dead on with full force. He flew backwards and slid on the ice for a couple seconds before shaking it off.

"Hm...Pika'll be injured from that, but nothing major yet...still. He'll be in trouble if he gets hit again. Lapras is pretty tough, its shown me that, but I can take it...hm...its weak point. Where is it? Maybe...duh! It has to be its underside! No protection means more damage. We just have to get it back in the air," Sam whispered to himself. Strategy was the only way he was going to win it. He was planning his attack when something happened. Within his subconsious, the dark side was back.

"Why? Why aren't you doing anything?" it asked.

"Isn't it obvious? I'm planning..." Sam replied.

"Bah. That won't do you any good. You need to take it out!" it screamed.

"Hmph. No, not yet. Now GET OUT!" Sam screamed back.

"Fine, fine. I'll dissapear for now, but just wait. Your body will be mine," it said, dissapearing. Sam shook his head and was back in the stadium.

"Go! Use Mist!" Graham said. Lapras opened its mouth and white mist flew out. It coated the field, making the visibility almost zero. There was no way to tell where anything was.

"Hm...this is a real pain..." Sam whispered. How could he attack with all this mist surrounded the field? Graham, however, took advantage of it.

"Water Gun, then Ice Shard!" he yelled. Sam couldn't see anything until it was too late. Pika was hit by the stream of water, then again by the ice.

"Shoot. This is becoming a real pain. How am I supposed to hit him when he has all this mist?" Sam asked himself again. Suddenly, he realized something. Mist was made of water...and water conducted electricity!

"GO! THUNDERBOLT!" Sam screamed as loud as he could. A burst of electricity flew everywhere thanks to the mist. It took a second, but Lapras let out a screech of pain. Sam had hit.

"Follow the sound, Pika, then use Quick Attack," Sam said. Pika ran forward into the mist and then he heard another yell out of Lapras. He was doing damage quickly now.

"Not bad, but there's one problem. You're in range! Water Pulse!" Graham screamed. Another burst of water appeared to charge up and fire. Pika flew backwards, into the ground in front of Sam.

"Hm...this isn't going well. Pika's taking way too much damage. This is going to have to be perfect if its going to work..." Sam whispered.

"Finish it off! You know where it is, now use Body Slam!" Graham yelled. Lapras flew into view, a look of fury on its face.

"This is it. Our chance. GO! THUNDERBOLT WITH EVERYTHING YOU'VE GOT!" Sam screamed. Pika launched a huge jolt of electricity at Lapras's exposed underside. Lapras screeched out in pain, but kept going.

"Now! Dodge it!" Sam yelled. Pika stepped out of the way just in time. Lapras hit the ground with a much larder impact thant it was after. It screeched in pain, then its head lowered. It was beat.

"YES!" Sam yelled. He had won.

"Lapras is unable to battle! Sam is the winner and will be moving on!" the ref yelled.

"...hmph. Just wait, Sam. I'm going to come after you...just you wait," Graham said, walking out ot the arena.

"Okay then...time to go..." Sam whispered. He walked into the pokecenter and dropped off his pokemon then sat down. The lounge was aparently the place to be right then.

OOC: Sorry this took so long...I had a golf tournament late sunday and then was sick yesterday. Finished it up last night and tried to submit but it wouldn't. Sorry about that...hope its alright :(

@Sasuneuchiha - Nice post! Congratulations on reaching the next round!

Congratulations Cloyster (Cloy) grew to Level 22
Congratulations Onix grew to Level 18
Congratulations Pikachu (Pika) grew to Level 30

Maple walked into her now familiar position overlooking the main hall. She directed her attention to the big screen and saw the field had been split into half. Luckily all of Maples trainers had been split into the same side, and all of Oaks kids had been drawn in the opposite half.

"WOULD ALL OF THE TRAINERS IN POT A PLEASE STEP FORWARD AND PICK A CARD FROM THE TABLE, ON THIS CARD WILL BE A PICTURE OF YOU OPPONENT. WHEN YU HAVE CHOSEN YOUR CARD PLEASE HAND IT TO THE POKEMON LEAGUE OFFICIAL WHO WILL VALIDATE THE DRAW. THEN DIRECT YOUR ATTENTION TO THE BIG SCREEN AND THE DRAW FOR THE SECOND ROUND WILL SHOW!"

After those instructions, Maple watched her trainers all step forward and pick up a card before handing it to the pokemon league official. He then inserted all of the cards into a slot under the big screen. After a short wait, the draw for the second round showed on the big screen. Maple watched and had to wait until the third match to see one of her trainers come up.

Warren (Pallet Town) vs Lucy (Cinabaar Island)

Maple had barely registered this information when her next trainers match popped up.

Juan (Fuschia City) vs Sean (Cinabaar Island)

Again Maple barely had time to process this information as the very next match to pop up on screen blew things wide open.

Danny (Pallet Town) vs Sam (Pallet Town)

Maple stood in shock, and barely registered the rest of the draw pass. By the time she regained her senses, Oak was walking over to her. She quickly tried to regain her composure and keep a professional appearance in front of Oak.

"So two of our young trainers finally meet Maple?" said Oak, "I guess I'll finally be able to see if you're doing a good job with them!"

"I'm doing just fine thankyou!" replied Maple.

"Hmm, we'll see," said Oak coyly, before turning and walking away.

"Yes, yes we will," Maple muttered to herself. Before turning on her heel and making her way out of the main hall, praying that Sam was ready to take down one of Oak's trainers...

After seeing Natasha after a few battles, and teaching Arcanine a brand new move that Sean couldn't wait to see, Sean felt really good. Good enough to take on the next person, Juan.
This arena was regular, no special types to it or anything. The audience were expecting one huge battle, they were constantly cheering and clapping.
Juan was just about a year older than Sean, although slightly shorter. He looked like he was quite a strong opponent.
"Now that I'm one battle away from the quarter finals, you can kiss your place there goodbye." Juan sounded like he meant what he said. Sean had other ideas.
"Wanna bet?" Sean was posotive, and knew he was going to be in the quarter finals.
"Show me what you got then." Juan didn't want to wait any longer, although Sean wanted to see what he was going to do first.
"After you." Sean demanded. Juan followed, by getting a PokeBall out. He was confident of his choice.
"Fair enough. Don't let me down, Ponyta!" Juan tossed his ball to the ground, sending out Ponyta, a Fire-typed horse that was energetic and very fast 100% of the time. As a Fire-type Pokemon, this gave Sean some thoughts of what to use.
There were a few Pokemon that would be strong from Fire-type attacks, but then came one Pokemon that would be perfect for the job right now.
"Come on, Horsea!" Sean had sent Horsea out of the PokeBall. Horsea levitated above the ground with its small, crystal wings keeping it in the air.
Even though Ponyta had some Fire-type attacks that wouldn't be as good on Horsea' there were some strong Normal-type attacks that would do just as good, so Sean didn't get away with using a Water-type totally. Juan got this battle started.
"Start off with Tackle!" this was just one of the moves that Ponyta had that weren't going to be affected by type advantages. However, Sean knew what to expect from Tackle. It wasn't such a good attack most of the time. Ponyta began to rush off at a very high speed, with all four hooves hitting the ground, hooves as hard as diamonds. Then, as Ponyta got to Horsea, it easily got covered by all of its tall, slim body that had pushed Horsea away and towards one side of the arena. The damage was a little hard, since Ponyta's body was very boney and rough. Still, Horsea was alright.
"Tackle, eh?" Sean wasn't so impressed by Juan's moves, but it was just a taster of the moves he had. Sean was now going to use one of Horsea's attacks that would have an advantage.
"Use Bubble!" this was a water-type move, therefore it would do double damage on Ponyta. This was Horsea's weakest move aswell, so if this could do good then nothing couldn't. Horsea began to gather lots of partacles of water that then formed into bubbles. Then, Horsea shot out these bubbles. They weren't very fast, but they were all very hard and they were as tough as bowling balls. Ponyta's back was the first spot hit by these bubbles, and then after Ponyta shuffled about in shock, its mane was also shot by these bubbles. As the bubbles stopped coming, Juan had his word cut out for him.
"Well, just because it's super effective doesn't mean you can win with attacks like that. I've beaten other Water-types with Ponyta you know." Jean explained.
"That was just Horsea's weakest you know." Sean was pointing out how he had better attacks. Juan struggled of something to say in return, so he just gave Ponyta another command.
"...Ponyta, use Ember!" this was a bad choice of move, since Ember would do half the damage since it wasn't going to be so effective. Although, there have been situations that Sean have experienced where he used a move that wasn't effective and something good happened, so anything was possible. Ponyta burned up a flame inside its throat, which had took a few seconds to grow and burn. When it was hot enough, Ponyta had launched this flame into the air in the straight direction of Horsea. This Ember had hit Horsea quickly, and there was not so much to it. The attack felt like a cool breeze to Horsea, not much like an attack. This means that the attack didn't do so well. Sean was ready to get Horsea using another move.
"See what I mean? Use Leer, Horsea!" this would do no damage, but nontheless it will weaken Ponyta by lowering its defense - this was always useful as then physical attacks would do even more damage. Right away, Horsea caught eye contact with Ponyta and tinted its eyes into a golden colour and then gave a frightening stare. This look made Ponyta feel less defensive and weaker.
"Oh that's smart. Give me another chance to attack." Juan didn't see Leer as such a strong move.
"If you think Leer does nothing then think again." Sean made Juan think about what Leer could do, but he didn't bother thinking. Instead, he thought of Ponyta's next move.
"Well then, in that case, use Tail Whip!" this was the equivalent to Leer and would lower the defense of Horsea just like Horsea did with Ponyta. Therefore, balancing things back out. Ponyta began to run at a very fast speed. Then, Ponyta got closer to Horsea and got its tail ready to hit. And so, when it was close enough, Ponyta did slap Horsea with its burning tail that left off so many sparks of fire. This move didn't hurt, but the heat from Ponyta's tail plus the effect of Tail Whip caused Horsea to sweat - making it less defensive. This means that attacks on Horsea would be just as hard as on Ponyta.
"Well, you're not getting yourself anywhere by copying me." Sean realized how important this battle was, it was just the first step of getting towards the quarter finals. Juan thought about it but didn't take anything back. Sean was ready to get Horsea to use another attack.
"Horsea, use Water Gun!" this attack was more powerful than Bubble, and since it was super effective, the damage would be huge. If this attack was going to be strong, then Sean would have a big plan in store. For now, Horsea gathered up lots of water inside its throat that held all this water together until there was a huge amount. And then, Horsea shot out this water like a hosepipe, going in a straight direction, hitting Ponyta right away. Ponyta lifted up its two front feet and neighed in pain and in shock, the water was so cold and the force had gave Ponyta a fright. The more damage done to Ponyta, the more determined Juan was to prove that Ponyta could do well even if it was up against a Water-type.
"Argh, come on Ponyta, use Tackle again!" this attack could be more powerful since Ponyta couldn't be more awake and reactive. So, immediately, Ponyta galloped off, aiming its whole body at Horsea, who wasn't paying much attention - it was relaxing by closing its eyes. Then, shock, Ponyta jumped up and took Horsea to the ground. The sharpness of Ponyta's hooves were painful on Horsea's tender body, the attack was probably one of the best Juan was going to get right now.
"That's nothing." Sean considered that he was better than Juan, which was a bit big-headed.
"You haven't even seen Ponyta's best attack yet." there was one more Normal-type attack that Ponyta had, which was much mroe strong than Tackle. Sean was going to use another one of Horsea's Water-type attacks.
"And you haven't seen Horsea's, and you'll see it later. Horsea, use Bubble!" this was the second time Horsea would use Bubble, and it did very well the last time so it would probably do better now. Right away, Horsea generated a lot of water inside its mouth that were then formed into round, clear bubbles. Then, once there were enough, they were all shot out of Horsea's mouth, that was shaped like a tube. Each bubble was as hard as the next one, and each one that hit Ponyta, the more damage was done. Ponyta became neurotic as the bubbles had all hit Ponyta on its mane, the most hottest part of its body. The bubbles may not have looked so strong, but they were wet, hard and strong. Immediately, Juan was ready to combat.
"Don't let all this water stop you! Use Flame Wheel!" this was, once again, a Fire-type attack so it wouldn't be so strong against Horsea. Although, this was stronger than Ember so chances are that it would be stronger. Ponyta wasn't so healthy right now, all the water had weakened all of its flames and when its flames become weak, Ponyta itself becomes weak. This did not stop Ponyta charge over to Horsea with lots of flames surrounding its body, which Ponyta had then took another body charge, just like Tackle only orientated with fire. The damage wasn't from the flames, but from how hard Ponyta's body was.
"You know, I'd use that attack you were talking about soon because Ponyta don't look so good." Ponyta was breathing heavily at how cold it was from the past water attacks. This was a real downside.
"Eh, just you wait for it." Juan wasn't ready to rush, as he was a game-planner. Therefore, Sean was ready to use a plan of his own.
"Fine. Horsea, use Agility!" this move would speed Horsea up by a couple of stages, which was always useful as then Horsea would be able to fit a second attack in. Just then, Horsea's wings began to flap faster which had kept it up well. Then, Horsea began to fly in a circle that made it look as if it was generating a whirlwind. After Horsea stopped, it felt much mroe exercised and speedy.
"What, that's all?" Juan was expecting Ponyta to be finished off for now.
"You really don't have a clue." Sean couldn't believe how he didn't know the possibilities of Agility. Juan didn't care, he was ready to fight back.
"In that case, Ponyta, use Stomp!" this was the move that he was talking about all this time, Ponyta's strongest move that could be used on Horsea. As Ponyta was getting ready to run off, Sean was ready to show Juan what speed can do.
"Finish Ponyta off with Bubblebeam!" this was Horsea's strongest attack and would do the job. Juan was furious.
"How the..?!" now he was shocked as he watched Horsea get ready to fire lots of bubbles out at a high speed - and as it did, Juan couldn't belive his eyes as the bubbles floated across the air at a higher speed than Bubble, aswell as a higher rate. These bubbles quickly hit Ponyta all around, putting all the flames out of its body. Finally, Ponyta fell to the ground and fainted with exhaust.
"Damn..." Juan made a mistake. Now he needed to hope he could do much better on the next part or else his chances of being in the quarter finals were gone. The audience were cheering at Sean's victory once again.
"That was a good battle you put up there, Horsea." Sean returned Horsea after congratulating it. Juan wasn't happy with Ponyta.
"Eh, you did alright. I guess better luck on the next battle... return." Juan returned Ponyta and both of them thought about what to do next. Sean couldn't believe he was getting closer to the quarter finals.

After the first part of the battle, Juan wasn't doing so well. Now he had to choose a Pokemon that was good enough to get back to catch up to Sean, or else.
As for Sean, things were going so well, as usual. He was only a few battles away from the final and if he won them all, then all of his effort would be paid off.
The crowd were in their seats, ready to see a battle. Sean got a PokeBall out, feeling sure of what he was sure of what he was going to do.
"If you can't beat Horsea, then you'll have trouble with this. Golbat!" Sean tossed the ball to the ground, and Golbat, the purple bat with blue wings, came out. As always, Golbat flew into the air at a quick speed, ready for its opponent.
There was nothing Juan had that would really have an advantage over Golbat, but there was one Pokemon that was almost the same so Juan was ready to send it out.
"Oh yeah? Well, come on Pidgeotto!" Juan had also sent out his Pokemon to the stage, facing Golbat. When Pidgeotto came out, just like Golbat, it flew into the air, as a bird.
Since there were both Flying-types on the stage there were no type advantages at all. Instead, they had to just choose any moves they had and see which one was more powerful. Juan started off.
"Now I'll show you how my Pidgeotto is stronger than Ponyta and won't fail. Begin with Gust!" this move was one of Pidgeotto's bestest, and Juan thought it might be an idea to use it early on in the battle, and there were no better time to use it. Right away, Pdgeotto flapped its wings like a fan, giving off a very cool breeze that felt so chilling when hit. Then, after flapping its wings at a very fast rate, the wind had generated a small tornado that quickly spread across the stage, reaching Golbat and left off a cut since the sharpness of the wind was strong.
"Ha. Troble with Golbat, eh?" Juan already could see that the attack was strong, but Sean was going to convince Juan that Golbat was stronger.
"I haven't even attacked yet. Come on Golbat, use Wing Attack!" just like Juan, Sean wanted to show him Golbat's strongest attack, and this one was slightly stronger than Gust. Right away, Golbat flapped its wings and headed across the air at a high speed, in the straight direction of Pidgeotto. As Golbat didn't have to dive since Pidgeotto was also in the air, Golbat's aim was much better. When it was clsoe, Golbat covered itself with both wings, and then slashed both of them against Pidgeotto. This attack was strong, and left off a cut on Pidgeotto, just like Pidgeotto did to Golbat. Juan knew what to do next, even if it wasn't going to be as good as Gust.
"Carry on with Tackle!" this move wasn't as strong as Gust, but nontheless it was quite a good move that would hurt if hard.Right away, Pidgeotto began to fly across the air at quite a fast rate, and then it quickly reached Golbat, taking one strong push against its body. The charge was pretty rough as it pushed Golbat quite a distance and it nearly hit a wall, but in the end it was fine.
"Tackle? Oh please. Even Gust wasn't good enough." Sean was still judging Juan.
"If you like I'd show you what Pidgeotto can really do." Juan was prepared to show Sean how Pidgeotto could attack well. Instead, it was Sean's turn to fight back.
"Nah, you're only making it easy. Golbat, use Bite!" this was also not Golbat's strongest attack, so it wouldn't do as well as Wing Attack did unless it was a critical hit. Golbat also flew across the air, in the straight direction towards Pidgeotto. And then, Golbat took one bit on Pidgeotto's body, causing it to go ballisic and flap its wings, squarking in pain as the bit had left really bad toothmarks. As the move was rather strong, Juan had to find something good to fight back with.
"Meh, if we're gunna keep using average attacks then fine, I'll show you that I can do better! Pidgeotto, use Tackle again!" second time lucky, and Juan was still determined to prove that Pidgeotto could do well no matter what attack it would use. Right away, Pidgeotto flapped its rather big, feathery wings across the air, back and forth. This caused Pidgeotto to fly towards Golbat, and then when it was close enough, Pidgeotto pushed its wings back and forced its body to Golbat. The attack was much mroe rounded and accurate than the last one, and they were still pretty much evenly matched.
"Average attacks? You can if you like." Sean wasn't quite impressed with how Juan was just making things simple when this was a really important battle and he could possibly lose. Now, Sean was ready to make another move.
"Use Confuse Ray!" this move was not an attack, but it had a very annoying effect on the opponent. The effect was, well, confusion, hence the name - which would cause the opponent to have a less chance of making a successful attack, giving the attacker a huge advantage. Golbat started to shoot out a purple, glittery ray that travelled across the air slowly. This ray looked quite pretty, but nobody would want to inhale it. Pidgeotto couldn't resist and took in this ray, which then messed with its mond, causing it to get confsued. Just like Sean, Juan hated confusion and looked stressed after the move had finished taking its effect. Nontheless, he was ready to carry on, hoping to forget about it.
"Ahh, come on Pidgeotto, fight it! Use Tackle again!" this wa its third time of using Tackle and it was getting a little boring, although Pidgeotto didn't have much attacks so it had to. Although, this time, confusion could put it off. Pidgeotto tried to get a grip by flapping its wings in any odd direction, thinking it was going near Golbat - it was going no way near. Pidgeotto kept flying in a circle, trying to Tackle itself rather than Golbat, and since it wasn't flying as quick, it was falling to the ground. When it hit the ground, Pidgeotto flew back up into the air. What just happened was a waste of time, and Pidgeotto didn't use Tackle. Even when it flew back into the air, it still had trouble keeping balance.
"Aww man! Why did you have to do that?" he sounded really annoyed now, as everyone hated it when their Pokemon were confused.
"Don't think you can fight of confusion, it wares off itself, so... bad luck! Golbat, use Torment!" this was another move that didn't attack, but instead it would stop Pidgeotto to use the same move twice in a row. In this case, Tackle, since Pidgeotto has already used it for three turns straight. Golbat began to make some kind of talking noise in a chatting motion to Pidgeotto. This noise sounded really strange, as if it was Pokemon talk. This chatter made Pidgeotto feel uncormfortable, making it unavble to sue the same move twice in a row.
"Uh... what did you just do?" Juan hadn't a clue what Torment was.
"I'll let you find that out." Sean didn't want to tell him incase it would ruin his plan. Juan was ready to make another move, even if Pidgeotto was confused still.
"Whatever. Pidgeotto, use Aerial Ace and try to forget about the confusion!" this was stronger than Tackle, and was Pidgeotto's strongest attack. Apart from this, it can't miss. Pidgeotto began to fly in a straight direction this time, making out where Golbat was. Then, Pidgeotto slashed Golbat's blue body with its feathery wing. The attack was stronger than Tackle, that was for sure. And since Sean didn't attack in the last two turns, Pidgeotto was probably back into the lead. Therefore, Sean was ready to fight back.
"You're not gunna win this! Use Wing Attack, Golbat!" now Sean was going to use Golbat's strongest attack once again, in hope that it would be stronger and put him back into the lead as Golbat had trouble flying in the air while Pidgeotto was higher - even when it was confused and all over the place. Golbat flew over to Pidgeotto quickly, then covered its body with both of its wings, then slashing both of them to Pidgeotto, in an X shape. The damage was strong, and Pidgeotto squarked in pain as it left a red wound on Pidgeotto's chest.
"Ack! How are you doing this?" Juan didn't understand how Golbat's attacks were sharper than Pidgeotto's.
"Lots of people ask me that, I never tell." Sean likes to keep how good he is a secret, even though he doesn't know.
"Come on Pidgeotto, try and get it staright and use Gust!" Pidgeotto was not far off from losing the second part of Round 2 for Juan, but Golbat wasn't exactly in a perfect condition either. However, luckily for Juan, Pidgeotto happened to have snapped out of confusion, so now it can attack fine as long as it can get a good aim. Pidgeotto flapped its wings at a very quick rate, generating up a gust of wind that Pidgeotto had made one more flap of its wings to set it across the arena. This gust of wind set a cool breeze into the air that felt nice and cold on a hot day, although the gust of wind looked rather tough. Golbat quickly flew out of the way to dodge this mad tornado, that then hit the wall.
"Uh oh..." Juan wasn't expecting anything good now, Sean was totally ready to finish Pidgeotto off.
"Looks like you've lost your chance in this battle. Golbat, use Wing Attack for a final time!" second time around the attack was more likely to be powerful, and even if it wasn't it had a very good cahnce of knocking Pidgeotto out. Straight away, Golbat flew over towards Pidgeotto and slashed both edges of its wings onto its body, leaving a couple mroe wounds that felt to painful to stand, therefore Pidgeotto fell to the ground and stopped struggling to fly, and fainted in pain. Sena had won the second part of the battle.
"Man! You really are getting on my nerves now, Sean. I've not been in this situation for a long time. Pidgeotto, return." Juan was determined to prove that he was the best out of them all, although Sean was most likely to win anyway.
"Well, good luck trying to get out. Great battle Golbat, return." Sean had also retreated Golbat, as the audience cheered for Sean for winning another time. Now if he could finish off Juan's last Pokemon then he has got a place in the quarter finals. It all depeneded on what Juan was going to use, and what Sean would use against it.

@Bulletproof - Things are looking good for Sean, Juan only has one pokemon left to use.

Congratulations Golbat grew to Level 27 and learned Air Cutter

"Its finally time..." Sam whispered. He'd picked his card earlier and the result were finally up. Looking at the board, he found his name. He was fighting someone named Danny. Standing there trying to figure out what pokemon he wanted to use for a match like this, Maple walked up behind him.

"Sam. This is a very important match," she said sternly. Sam jumped, then turned around.

"Why?" he asked, still a little surprised by her sudden appearence.

"Do you know who Danny is?" she asked.

"No," Sam replied.

"He's an Oak trainer. You'll be the first of my trainers to face off against an Oak trainer in this tournament," she explained.

"In that case, I'll take him down. I'm ready to go...make sure to watch this match," Sam smiled. This was it. The final round of three on three combat. After this he'd require all 6 of his pokemon to win. Time to make his mark!

Sam walked outside. Up until now, he'd only been in the small stadiums. Now he was walking into the huge main stadium. It was...huge. With lots of seats and a huge field, he knew that this was his true stadium.

"You must be Sam. Are you ready to go?" someone asked. Sam turned around to see the ref.

"Yeah. Looks like there's no podiums here...ah well. I'll go take my place," Sam said, walking away. Walking there, he noticed that, for once, he was there first. After waiting a couple of minutes, he finally noticed someone walk inside...followed by Professor Oak. He could hear them whispering.

"...and rememer, watch out for his Pikachu, Ninetails and Umbreon. They will destroy you," Oak whispered.

"I know, I know. Sheesh. Don't worry about me, he's nothing. I'll take him easily. Now just get back to your damn room and watch..." the boy walking with him whispered.

"Very well, and good luck," Oak said, leaving. The boy walked forward, appeared to check in, then walked over to Sam.

"Hm. You must be Sam. You're a Maple trainer...but nothing like Warren..." the boy said.

"You know Warren?" Sam asked.

"Yeah. Now that's...well, he's not a bad trainer. I give him that, though I'm better and don't you forget it!" the boy yelled.

"Okaay...by the way. You never introduced yourself," Sam said.

"Oh...right. I'm Danny...and I'll be the one beating you," Danny said, bowing. Sam didn't like this very much.

"Yeah...just head over to your side and try to keep up," Sam said. Danny scowled and left. Walking over to his other side, he stopped and looked at Sam. The ref entered the second of the arena.

"Are both trainers ready to go?" he asked.

"Totally," Sam said.

"Yeah," Danny said. This was it. Time to go.

"Let the match...BEGIN!" the ref yelled.

"Onix!" Sam yelled.

"Rhyhorn!" Danny screamed. Both tossed a pokeball. Out of Danny's came a rocky, rhino-like pokemon. Sam's released the familiar rock snake.

"Two rock types...this'll be fun. Let's show 'em Tackle!" Sam yelled. Onix lunged forward.

"Show him a real move! Horn Attack!" Danny yelled. Rhyhorn charged, crashing into Onix. Both flew backwards a bit before stopping.

"DIG!" both yelled at the same time. Both pokemon dug a hole and dissapeared underground. A few moments passed, then both flew out of the ground and crashed into eachother. Both fell to the ground appearing injured. Danny smiled.

"Now! Stomp!" he yelled. Rhyhorn flew into the air and stomped on Onix's face as it fell back down.

"Crap. I think I've underestimated him..." Sam whispered. He'd assumed that all this guy had was big talk, but boy was he wrong. This guy had the skills to back it up. This wasn't going to be easy.

"You finally getting that you can't win?" Danny asked.

"No, nothing like that. Just realizing that it'll take a little more than I've been giving...anyway, you're not gonna beat me that easily! Go, use Bind!" Sam yelled. Onix lifted its tail and grabbed Rhyhorn with it.

"Hm...that was actually a pretty good move..." Danny whispered.

"Now! Throw it!" Sam yelled.

"Not so fast! Fury Attack!" Danny screamed. Right as Onix was about to throw, Rhyhorn made its move, hitting Onix 5 times. He then was released and fell to the ground easily.

"Dig!" Danny yelled. Rhyhorn once again dissapeared underground.

"Damn it. No other choice...dig! As far as you can!" Sam yelled. Onix reared up, then dissapeared under the ground as well.

NOW IN ONIX'S POINT OF VIEW!

Gravel rushed by as Onix dug under the ground, further and further.

I have to hide, he thought. Sam had given the command, so it was time. Rhyhorn couldn't catch him if he dug far enough. Further and further he dug until he crashed into something. A...steel mine?

What is this place?, Onix asked himself. It was full of steel. Too much. Suddenly, he sensed a presence. It seemed to call to the magnet within him. Slithering closer, he noticed a huge chunk of steel.

So much...power, he thought. Reaching out, he grabbed the item with his tail. It seemed to calm to him, almost like food.

Maybe just one little snack, he shoved the metal into his mouth. It sat a few seconds, then started to burn.

"ONNNNNNNNNNIIIIIIIIIII" he screeched. The energy was becoming too much. It was burning him. Suddenly, something seemed to happen. His body started to change.

Am I...changing?, he asked himself. Almost as an answer, a huge amount of energy surrounded him. Changing him...making him more powerful. It was insane. He had adapted. He was becoming one with the energy. He was...evolving.

BACK IN SAM'S POINT OF VIEW!

"Onix!" Sam yelled. A huge burst of light had flown out of the hole and he worried that something had happened. Suddenly, he heard a roar.

"STEEL!" it roared.

"No...no way..." Danny whispered.

"It can't be..." Sam agreed. But almost as though to prove both wrong, a huge pokemon appeared from the ground in front of Rhyhorn. It looked like Onix, but it wasn't. It was bigger, more powerful looking and extremely intimidating.

Sam pulled out his pokedex and pointed it at the pokemon. It came out with this.

Steelix, the iron snake pokemon. This pokemon is changed from the pokemon Onix by the increase of iron in its system, usually by eating soil full of it.

"Whoa...a Steelix...hm. Attacks," Sam said. A screen showed up. It had several attacks on it, but three stood out. Fire Fang, Ice Fang and Thunder Fang.

"Hm...I wonder. GO! Gyro Ball!" Sam yelled. Steelix started spinning at high speeds. This was going to be a huge hit.

"Shoot. Get out of the way, Rhyhorn!" Danny yelled. Rhyhorn started to run in the other direction, but Steelix was already moving.

"Hit it!" Sam yelled. Steelix flew forward and crashed into Rhyhorn, sending it flying. Sam noticed how much more power Steelix seemed to have in its new form.

"Hm...I gotta admit. Steelix is pretty strong..." Danny said.

"Thanks...your Rhyhorn's not exactly a pushover either...now! Let's use Bind!" Sam yelled. Steelix's tail lashed out, a bit slower than before, but still quickly, grabbing Rhyhorn, who ended up landing several yards away. Then, pulling it into its body, it awaited Sam's next attack.

"NOW! Show it Ice Fang!" Sam yelled. Steelix opened its jaw and showed extremely sharp teeth. Suddenly, they appeared to become coated in ice. This was an extremely powerful attack. Steelix brought its teeth down on Rhyhorn's side, crushing that. Rhyhorn cried out in pain as Steelix dropped it into the ground.

This made Sam look around. The field...had filled in. It was odd. Almost as though the field was built to fill in immediatly after a pokemon came out of the ground. Either way, it was going to make this battle interesting. Turning back to Rhyhorn, he looked at it for a couple of seconds, then at Danny, then at the ref. Suddenly, the ref raised a flag.

"Rhyhorn...is unable to battle. Steelix wins the round!" he yelled. The crowd cheered. Sam had won the first round. It felt...great!

"Hm. Return, buddy. Great job there, Sam. That was an interesting combonation at the end. Steelix is actually pretty tough..." Danny said, almost regrettingly.

"Thanks..." Sam whispered, awaiting the next round.

OOC: Screw the rules, I hope that this is the right personality...if its not, tell me how to fix it...for the next part.

@Izuna (nice new name btw) - Good start to your battle. Oak and Danny can't have liked the in-battle evolution!

Congratulations Onix evolved into Steelix and can now learn Ice Fang, Thunder Fang and Fire Fang, but already knows 8 moves. Should any existing moves be forgotten? (reply in OOC thread)

Congratulations Steelix grew to Level 20

This was the start of the final part of the battle of Round 2, and there was everything that Juan had to fight for. Sean was just one victory away from being in the final 8 which was a seriously big achievement to accomplish.
The audience were expecting a big finale to this battle so they were both thinking of appropriate Pokemon to use. Sean already knew, but for Juan it was a difficult decision, then he just got an idea that featured a really good strategy.
"Right, this is the last time I take any more problems from you, Sean. Come on Clefable, don't let me down." he sent his PokeBall to the stage, opening up and releasing Clefable, a pink fairy. The appearence may not be so tough, but Clefable did have some great techniques that could be taken to a real advantage when used properly. Sean was ready to send out his Pokemon.
"Well then, you're gunna face so many problems now, get ready for it. Do your best, Arcanine!" Sean had sent Arcanine to the stage. This was Sean's strongest Pokemon, and it was very tough. The comparison in appearance shown that Arcanine could easily take Clefable down, although looks aren't everything.
Now they had to think of their first moves to use. For Juan, everything mattered as losing and getting so close to the quarter finals weren't an option. For Sean it was easy to think of a move, as everything Arcanine had was strong and would have an impact. There was not much choice for Juan, so he just chose anything that would work out.
"Let's start with Doubleslap!" this move wasn't so strong but nontheless Clefable didn't have many attacks that were for the beginning of a battle so in a way it was probably an alright choice of an attack. Clefable began to run on both of its two, small feet across the field looking happy, and then when it reached Arcanine who was on both four legs, waiting, Clefable slapped both of its pink hands across Arcanine's face. All it took for Arcanine to feel better was a shake of the head, then Arcanine felt soothed. The Doubleslap was quite tough, so Sean was already beginning to underestimate Clefable.
"Now what do you think of Clefable?" Juan was keen to wonder how Sean was feeling, if he didn't know what to do. Fortunately, he did.
"Let me see what you think of Arcanine. Use Flame Wheel!" this attack was one of Arcanine's toughest Fire-type attacks, and it never fails to have a strong impact. Arcanine immediately began to run across the stage at a very fast speed, generating balls of fire around its body that then turned into a ring. Then, Arcanine took a tackle to Clefable, while all the flames had also struck. When the attack was over, some of the flames remained stuck around one of Clefable's legs, which had meant that Clefable was burned by Flame Wheel.
"Ack!" Juan was worried, as burn would take some health of Clefable every turn and there was nothing he could do about it. It was his turn now.
"Meh... I aint scared of a small burn. Clefable, use Metronome!" this move really was different, since Metrone was a move that would turn into any, as in any attack at all. While this was good it was an attack of chance, so it could be really good or bad. Clefable twiddled its fingers for a moment, and then it suddenly began to run, with its hand turning inot a fist and burning with fire, meaning that Metronome had turned into Fire Punch. And so, Clefable hit Arcanine with its solid fist with all the fire. There was no damage done at all, infact, something really bad for Juan had just happened.
"Haha, you don't have a clue what you just did, do you?" Sean was laughing as he knew what was going on.
"Go on then." Juan was nervous, he hoped it wasn't going to be bad.
"Arcanine's ability is Flash Fire, meaning that any Fire-type moves would boost Arcanine's Fire-type moves. Therefore, by using Fire Punch you just gave Arcanine a boost. Cheers!" Sean sounded cheeky at the end, leaving Juan mad. Sean was ready to take it to an advantage.
"Okay Arcanine, use Ember!" while not as tough as Flame Wheel, the boost given from Flash Fire means that the attack will be a lot more stronger. And with a burn, an even better bonus. Arcanine shot out a ball of fire that quickly shot across the stage and smacked Clefable on one of its arms. The extreme heat from Flash Fire made the Ember a lot stronger, so Clefable was extremely hot. It ran around in circles screaming like a girl, as the flames hurt madly until the Ember faded, while the burn stayed.
"Man, what is happening..." Juan couldn't stand how everything was going wrong, while Sean was thrilled.
"Uh... you're... losing?" Sean couldn't find anything to say but it was definetely the wrong choice of words that drove Juan mad. Now he wasn't messing around.
"Okay, now I'm taking no more! Use Sing!" by the sound of it, the move didn't cound so strong, as it did no damage. Instead, it had an effect that causes the opponent to fall tired and sleep. This was the worst thing that could happen on an important battle so if this hit then things were going to be so difficult for Sean. Clefable began to sing a tune that sounded like a lullaby that Arcanine could hear, as the music made it feel drowsy and then it relaxed on the ground and closed its eyes, drifting off into a deep sleep. Clefable stopped singing.
"Man!" Sean didn't know what to do, even if he was winning, Clefabe had a really good chance of catching up now and there was nothing Sean could do about it but wait for Arcanine to wake up.
"Come on... wake up! This is serious!" Sean tried to wake Arcanine up by shouting, but unfortunately it didn't work and Arcanine was still sleeping. Juan felt so more confident.
"Well well well, looks like I've just saved myself. Good job, Clefable!" the battle was not over yet, and Sean was determined to fight his corner even if Arcanine was asleep.
"Just you see! It'll wake up next turn and then I'm catching right back up!" Sean new what he was going to do when Arcanine would wake up if it weren't too late.
"Haha, I would like to see you try. Clefable, use Mega Punch!" this attack was probably Clefable's strongest, bar Metronome that could turn into a stronger attack but Juan wasn't willing to take that risk incase it could wake Arcanine up. Clefable ran across the stage looking like it was happy even if it was trying to endure a burn. When Clefable reached Arcanine, it raised its fist and hit Arcanine with this fist. For a moment, Arcanine jumped and woke up, then the next it fell back to sleep. The attack was very suprising, and Arcanine clearly wasn't exepcting it as it was asleep. Sean was going to try again and wake Arcanine up.
"Arcanine... wake up!" it was no use, Arcanine was still curled up on the floor of the battlefield while in a deep sleep that was tricky to come out of. Juan was getting luckier by the minute, and could feel how easy this battle was for him.
"This is brilliant. You're gunna have trouble waking Arcanine up, by the way. Clefable's singing puts Pokemon to sleep for a while." Juan was warning Sean who didn't want to hear it.
"Oh no, not Arcanine. It will wake up soon and when it does-" Sean was interrupted as Juan was ready to make another command.
"In the mean time, Clefable, use Metronome again!" Juan was feeling luckier this time and had a bigger feeling that it would turn into a strong attack that wouldn't mess up. Right away, Clefable twiddled it fingers that then made Clefable feel stiff, as if it were a rock. As Clefable got stiffer, its defenses were rising, this move was also known as Harden. When Clefable was stiff enough, Clefable's defense was higher so now, any move that was physical would do less damage on Clefable. This was rather useless right now as Arcanine was still asleep but it would probably be soon.
"Arcanine, wake up! Come on!" Sean tried once again at waking Arcanine up - it didn't work. Arcanine was still on the floor sleeping away, with no response to Sean.
"Face it, Arcanine aint waking up in this battle!" Juan kept making Sean feel uncomfortable.
"Any minute now..." Sean kept holding himself in, waiting for Arcanine to wake up. Nothing happened, so Juan was going to make Clefable attack once again. Sean was getting annoyed with this.
"Too late! Clefable, use Doubleslap!" this was the second time this was used in the battle and Juan was doing so well right now that he was forgetting how Clefable's burn was getting worse, as it had a sad face on. Nontheless, it ran over to Arcanine who was still sleeping, and slapped both hands across its body. This was a big mistake, since the power of the slaps had woke Arcanine up from the sleep. Now Juan was toast.
"Yes!" Sean was relieved to see Arcanine wake up at this stage, and he knew what to do to save the battle.
"No!" Juan didn't like what was happening as Sean had warned him before about what was going to happen. And so he should, as the attack Arcanine was about to use would be seriously harsh.
"And now, Arcanine, let's make this a nice and hot attack. Use Overheat!" this was the first time Sean had used this attack, and he was about to get in for it as this was probably the toughest Fire-type move out there. There was no better time to use this either. Arcanine opened its mouth and breathed heavily into the air. After a few breaths, the temperature began to rise, and rise, and rise through the roof. This made the audience feel nausious and everyone had to get fans out as people were screaming at how hot the arena was. Even Sean and Juan were getting affected, Sean wasn't seeing an attack this strong coming. As for Clefable, its burn got worse and worse and worse as Clefable lay on the floor, not doing anything. The burn got too hot, the temperature got to hot and Clefable had fainted due to exhaustion. Temperature returned to normal once Arcanine stopped.
"How..." Juan fell speechless as he lost everything he fought for, his place in the quarter finals was ripped away. So close too.
"Oh... my..." Sean was speechless aswell as he couldn't belive how closer he was getting to winning the entire thing. The audience went wild as they saw the winner as one of the final eight remaining in the league. To Sean this was unreal. To Juan, it was a nightmare.
"Argh!!" Juan returned Clefable immediately and ran out of the exit in nerve. Sean found it too unreal that he stood there, Arcanine sitting down as it had won the battle. The audience were still cheering.
"Come on Arcanine, return. You did amazing." Sean returned Arcanine too and went into the lounge in a brilliant mood. Now he had to wait for who he was up against, and it wasn't going to be easy at all now.
