[Best Veteran March/May 2011] A new professor in town - Kanto Adventure PG13

@.Eclipse - Nice... very nice. Can't wait to see what Travis' final pokemon will be! It will be interesting to see how Sam and Travis' new relationship dynamic will unfold over the course of the RP :)

Congratulations Cleffa (Cleff) grew to Level 12 and learned Sweet Kiss. Cleffa is also now ready to evolve!
Congratulations Poochyena (Fenrir) grew to Level 12

Travis grabbed the third ball from his belt. Pointing it at Sam, he grinned.

"Get ready, Sam. It's all been playing around, but now I pull out one of my better Pokémon! Let's go, Beautifly!" Travis threw the pokeball. It exploded in the middle of the field, revealing a small butterfly with yellow wings. Sam looked it over; it seemed quite familiar.

"…really, Travis? Just like a Butterfree back home…" he sighed. Travis scowled.

"Just you wait! Beautifly and I are UNSTOPPABLE!" Travis yelled. Sam stifled his laughter at Travis's ridiculous attitude.

"Well then. Go, Cleff!" Sam threw Cleff's pokeball back out. The pink Pokémon appeared, breathing heavily. Travis sighed.

"I'd have thought that you'd give it a rest by now. Apparently not. Well then, Sam; I'll put this Pokémon out of her misery! Beautifly, use Gust!" Beautifly began to flap it's wings, blowing Cleff backwards. The pink Pokémon grabbed the ground in front of herself, trying to hold herself down. Sam's eyes flew open. Travis was trying to end this all with one move.

"Cleff! Hold on! Keep strong!" Suddenly, the small pink Pokémon lost her grip and was sent flying backwards. "CLEFF!" The pink Pokémon was about to hit a wall…when something mysterious happened.

A white light enveloped Cleff, causing a large glow. Travis looked at it in awe, but Sam simply grinned. He knew what was coming. The light started to grow, taking up more and more room. While the light enveloped the small creature, Sam's pokedex began beeping wildly. He pulled it out and started reading it. Before long, Cleff was roughly twice the size it had been previously. The light faded, revealing a less brightly colored Pokémon. Sam grinned. This was a familiar one.

"…It EVOLVED?!" Travis yelled. Sam grinned. This might be just the break he needed.

"Yeah! Cleff! Get in there with Pound!" he was determined to see Cleff's new power. The now peach colored creature landed and flew forward, smashing a now larger fist into the butterfly. Beautifly flew backwards a couple of feet before regaining it's balance.

"Yeah, good job! Use Absorb!" Sam cringed at Travis's words. He had learned firsthand what that move could do. Beautifly flew forward, shocking Sam. It's long appendage shot forward, covered in green energy. It turned red as it touched Cleff and energy started to be drained. Sam's eyes opened wide.

"Quick! Sing!" he yelled. Cleff let out a few more notes, which seemed to catch Beautifly's ears, as it started to sway. Travis obviously noticed this, as he set up for one last move.

"Alright then, one last time! Use Gust!" he yelled. Cleff was sent flying by the huge gust of wind, crashing hard into the wall behind it. Sam cringed. Cleff hit the ground and tried to stand. She got to her feet slowly, looking angrily over at Beautifly. Sam knew exactly what to do. The pokedex had given him a new move that Cleff knew. He was certain it would work.

"Cleff, get in there, use Doubleslap!" Cleff ran forward and swung forward with her left hand. Beautifly was hit hard across the face, but Cleff quickly followed up with a second hit. Before long, Cleff was going for countless hits. Finally, she pulled back and swung hard, sending the butterfly flying. It quickly regained it's balance, glaring at Cleff. Travis grinned as it awoke, knowing fully that Sam was about to lose another member.

"Beautifly, finish it off. Gust!" Beautifly flapped it's colorful wings once more, sending another burst of wind across the stadium. Cleff was caught, flying backwards into the wall. She fell to the ground, unmoving. Sam sighed. She had been defeated. Even Cleff had gone down to Travis.

"…return…" he recalled the fairy Pokémon to her pokeball before facing Travis.

"You alright?" he asked. Sam said nothing immediately. He simply grabbed a third pokeball from his belt. He wasn't going to lose…not yet. It may not have been a good idea, but it was all he had.

"Get ready, Travis. You're about to see just what I was doing that whole time I was gone. Get ready! Skorp, get in there!" Sam threw the pokeball, revealing the purple scorpion again. Sam grinned as it appeared. Travis sighed.

"I've still got you. Now let's start this. Beautifly, use Tackle!" Travis's butterfly flew forward towards Skorp, but Sam had expected the move. He was ready.

"Let's hit it, use Poison Sting!" Skorp fired out the purple needles just as Beautifly dove in. Skorp was still hit hard, but Beautifly didn't go without damage. It was stuck with multiple needles. No obvious signs showed, but Sam was pretty sure he'd at least done some poison damage.

"You're good, Sam, but prepare for this! Use Harden!" Sam scowled at this. It meant that things weren't going to end well.

"…very well then. Skorp, show him Leer!" The scorpion glared at the butterfly, who backed up. Sam grinned. Travis could play that game all he wanted; he knew how to counter it.

"This game bores me. Go, use Gust, Beautifly!" The oversized butterfly flapped it's large wings, trying to push Skorp backwards. The scorpion started to be pushed back, but Sam knew how to fix that.

"Quick, stick your tail in the ground!" Skorp drove it's barbed tail into the ground of the arena, holding it strong against the harsh wind.

"…fine then! Use Absorb!" Beautifly flew in and began draining Skorp's energy as quickly as possible. Sam sighed.

"Too bad for you, Travis. Skorp is only taking one fourth of the damage that'd normally do. Let me show you a real move, use Bite!" Skorp leapt forward, it's teeth gripping hard onto Beautifly's wing. The butterfly cringed in pain. Sam grinned, realizing that he might have actually caused more damage than he thought. When Skorp let go, he noticed a small hole in Beautifly's wing. Travis, on the other hand, didn't. Sam grinned. This would be easy.

"Okay…let's try another way! Use Gust!" Travis yelled again. Sam grinned. At least he'd have a new opening. Beautifly started to kick up a wind and Sam prepared his attack.

"Go, Skorp! Use Poison Sting!" Sam said, not realizing he was making a stupid mistake. Skorp fired off a large number of needles into the wind, which instantly pushed them back. The needles quickly stuck into the scorpion, causing him to screech out in pain. Travis grinned.

"Now get in there! Use Absorb!" Beautifly flew in, ready to strike down it's target once and for all. Sam sighed. He'd have to end this the hard way.

"Skorp, hit it with Knock Off!" Skorp guarded it's face with it's pincers and leapt at the Butterfly, hitting it head on. Beautifly flew backwards and tried to regain it's balance, but couldn't. Sam grinned.

"What the heck?!" Travis cried, confused why Beautifly had suddenly fallen to the ground.

"You missed it, Travis. You didn't see that Skorp pierced Beautifly's wing with that bite earlier. Now you're going down! Skorp, use Bite and throw it!" Skorp didn't go for the wing this time, it bit down on the butterfly's small body. Spinning quickly, it let the bug loose, sending it flying. Sam grinned. "Now finish this! Use Knock Off to get close, then when you are, Poison Sting again!"

Skorp flew forward and tackled the butterfly, who was knocked to the ground. He quickly followed up with a barrage of the poison needles, which sunk deep into Beautifly. It shook it's head in pain, glaring at Skorp as it landed. Travis scowled.

"We've gotta finish it! Go! Use Gust!" he yelled. Beautifly managed to get back up into the air and fired off another gust of wind, blowing Skorp back against the wall easily. Sam cringed at the sound of the impact.

"Skorp, stay strong and finish this! Use Knock Off one last time!" he yelled. Travis sighed.

"End this with Tackle, it can't have much energy left!"

Both Pokémon charged forward. Skorp leapt up at Beautifly, crashing hard into it. Beautifly hit back just as hard, sending Skorp flying back into the ground. A small crater was made by the impact, but Skorp didn't appear too badly injured. Beautifly didn't seem poorly off either, as it was still flapping it's wings to stay in the air.

"Well, didn't go too well for you! Go, use Absorb!" Travis gave the command. Beautifly flew a couple feet forward at Skorp, then stopped. It's wings suddenly crumpled and fell to the ground, knocked out. "B…but how?" Sam sighed.

"Travis, I used a lot of Poison Sting that fight. It wasn't likely you were gonna get away without poisoning. Good fight, by the way. Really gave me a run, best fight I've had here in Hoenn," Sam lied. He couldn't forget Warren easily. He went to go collect his bag and egg to go back to his room, but he didn't notice something. The egg had a crack in it. Suddenly, another appeared, then another. "It's…hatching?!" Sam asked. Travis walked over, staring at it in awe. Sure enough, Sam's egg was hatching, but what would it become?!

OOC: And there you go!

@.Eclipse - Nice battle, congratulations on beating Travis! Guess Sam's new team is really becoming a force :)

Congratulations Cleffa (Cleff) evolved into a Clefairy
Congratulations Clefairy (Cleff) grew to Level 13 and learned Double Slap and Defence Curl
Congratulations Skorupi (Skorp) grew to Level 12 and learned Pin Missile

A bright flash from the egg caused Sam to shield his eyes from the glare. When he looked back, the egg had disappeared and had been replaced by a small pink pokemon with what looked like a tall blue hat on his head...

Congratulations Sam hatched a Level 1 Mime Jr.

Sam suppressed a wide grin as the egg started breaking. Surely Devon would have some amazing Pokémon lined up for the trainers. The first part was coming out…it was blue with a pink thing on the top. Sam backed up. That seemed awfully familiar…

"Weird little thing…" Travis whispered. Sam's eyes opened in horror as he realized what was coming out. It was almost like a blue hat...the egg cracked open, revealing a familiar pink Pokémon with a blue hat.

"Mime?" it appeared to ask, looking at Sam. He sighed.

"Of all the Pokémon in the world, I would end up with one of these…" he muttered. The thing hadn't been any fun back when he'd fought one. Sighing, he picked it up. Travis looked at him, confused.

"What's wrong?" Sam looked over, a look of irritation on his face.

"It's this thing. God…these things just irritate me. Had to fight one, it annoyed me, alright?" Sam asked. Travis couldn't help but laugh.

"Chill, Sam. This isn't like that one…but is the most feminine Pokémon I've ever seen…" Travis walked away, cutting off in laughter. Sam sighed, looking the creature.

"…look, you're obviously not my type. This is a big boat, go find someone who accepts you…I'm gonna go get some sleep…" Sam set it down and walked away.

"Mime?" it asked again. Sam looked at it one last time before walking away.

(Next part in Mime Jr.'s perspective)

Mime Jr. followed him through the room. He wasn't sure why his mother wouldn't accept him…was something wrong with him? He followed the person into what appeared to be a moving wall. How was he supposed to get through? Suddenly, he noticed a hole in the wall…with some patterned thing in front of it on the floor.

I wonder… he thought, stepping through. It was a narrow place, but he would be fine. He walked through it, looking for that person from earlier. Suddenly, he passed over a thing with a similar pattern to before. He looked down through the holes…and saw the person!

"Mime mime!" it cried, seeing Sam. He sat up, looked around, shook his head then laid back down.

I'm going crazy… he thought. He was hearing things. It was time for some sleep.

Up in the air vent, Mime Jr. was jumping on the vent. It wanted to be with Sam again! Suddenly, the vent gave way…falling flat on Sam's face.

"GAH! WHAT THE FRIGGING HELL?!" he roared, holding his face in pain. Looking at the bed to find what the problem was. Suddenly, he noticed the Pokémon from earlier. "Mime Jr.…" he whispered.

"Mime mime!" it cried. Sam couldn't suppress a smile there, but quickly snapped back to normal.

"Why'd you follow me? There's tons of trainers on this boat and you come after me…why?" he asked. Mime Jr. seemed to understand, as he suddenly started moving around nervously. Sam raised an eyebrow. Mime Jr. started moving his arms back and forth and Sam understood. "So you think…you think I'm your parent?"

"Mime mime!" it cried. Sam smiled.

"I…I see. Well…if you're so bent on being part of the team…sure…why not…" he picked up the creature. Obviously he couldn't get rid of; his conscious made sure of that. Still, it wasn't his type. Maybe one day, though. Holding it in his arms, he made his way towards the dining room. He needed food now…and this new Pokémon of his could use some too.

Sitting down with a slice of pizza, Sam had also picked up some food for Mime Jr., who looked at it nervously. Sam laughed.

"It's fine. Go ahead and eat. It's yours." Sam smiled as the Pokémon nervously picked up a piece of the food. It bit it and its eyes opened wide. It started going down through the food bowl as Sam sat, eating the pizza. Before long they were done and Mime Jr. started to do something odd; it began to dance. Sam thought it was cute until the small creature covered its eyes, a signal that Sam should do the same. He did, confused. Suddenly, the sound of screaming covered the room. Sam's hands flew from his eyes. Mime Jr.'s dancing had seemed to cause everyone to dance…against their will.

"The hell?" he whispered, pulling out his pokedex. It gave him a simple yet hilarious answer.

"Your Mime Jr. has used Teeter Dance, a move that causes all opponents and allies to dance, causing mass confusion to all by the Pokémon using it." Sam grinned.

"Okay then…maybe you aren't as weak and useless as I thought…maybe you DO have some interesting moves…" Sam grinned. Mime Jr. smiled as Sam picked him up, carrying him back to his room.

That night, much later, a knocked echoed through Sam's room.

"Come in." The door creaked open to reveal Diane standing there. "Oh. Hey, Diane. What's up?" Sam was sitting on the bed playing with Mime Jr. at the moment. She sat down next to him.

"It's nothing…I just wanted to thank you…" Sam's eyes opened wide.

"What for?" Diane sighed.

"You men and your denseness. I'm thanking you for just being willing to accept Travis and I even after the league. We were jerks to you, yet you still talk to us…" Sam grinned at this.

"That was a rivalry between our professors…that still exists if I'm not mistaken. Either way, what do I achieve by hating you two?" Sam asked rhetorically. Diane smiled warmly.

"…thanks. You know, you're a nice guy. That's a cute Mime Jr., by the way." Diane picked Mime Jr. up off of Sam's lap. The pink Pokémon smiled as Diane tickled it.

"Thanks. You're not half bad with baby Pokémon…" Sam tickled the small creature as well, who started laughing. Sam and Diane both joined in happily.

"Hmm…well, I'd better get going…see you tomorrow…" Diane smiled. Sam blushed slightly. She walked towards the door, opening it and leaving.

"…what just happened? Do I…feel something for Diane or something? No…I'm here for one purpose and one alone…well, I'd better get some sleep. Come on, Mime Jr. Time for bed…" Sam crawled under the covers with Mime Jr. in hand. As he slept, he couldn't help dream of one certain girl.

The next morning, Sam awoke. Mime Jr. was still asleep, but he knew they were drawing close to port. Grinning, he put on his jacket, slipped on his backpack and put on his belt. Picking Mime Jr. up in his arms, he walked out of the room.

On deck, Sam ran into a familiar face.

"Hey, Travis!" he called. The blonde turned around, a smile on his face.

"Good morning, Sam. What're you doing up so early?" Sam sighed.

"We're getting to port soon, right? I'd better be ready to hop off. Mime Jr. and I have some training to do, anyway…" he motioned towards the sleeping Pokémon's form. Travis shrugged.

"You showed me I've got a bit to learn still…I guess I'll do some training, too. By the way, have you seen Diane? She didn't come by last night and she left dinner early…" Sam felt the faintest blush cover his face for just a second.

"Er…no. I haven't seen her, but I'll tell you if I do," he lied. This seemed to work for Travis, as he grinned.

"Sounds good. I'll see you around, then. I'm gonna go look for her…" Travis walked away. Sam sighed. Why was he feeling this way? Was something wrong with him? He walked towards the boat's bow. Standing there, he noticed something. An island! A populated one! It had to be Dewford…he was sure of it.

"Well, Mime Jr., looks like we'll be able to start the training real soon…"

OOC: Well, this is an interesing post in my opinion. No battling fits the transition between the battle with Travis and Dewford...and that little bit of Diane should make things fun! Hope you enjoyed!

@.Eclipse - Sam and Diane hey? ;) xD Nice post though, I'm glad Sam eventually decided to accept Mime Jr... could prove to be a useful pokemon for him... maybe. xD

Congratulations Mime Jr danced his way to Level 2

The boat pulled into the port and lowered the walking platform. Sam was already walking down as it touched ground. He couldn't wait now. Something just had him so giddy. He had decided to put Mime Jr. in a pokeball to make carrying it more convenient. Stepping off the boat, he suddenly realized something. He was without a map in what might well have been the most confusing region he'd ever seen.

"…maybe a native will give me a hand…" he whispered. All he wanted to do was find the gym and battle the leader. Then he could get back on the train of Team Aqua and Team Magma. With any luck, though, he'd find some trace of them soon. He'd lost any lead he'd had before was lost thanks to Warren. Not paying attention, he crashed. Not into a person, but face first into a building. With a flurry of cursing that put anyone Sam knew to shame, he stood up, irritated.

"Freaking building…what the hell is this, anyway?!" As though to answer, a man walked out.

"Dude! Welcome to Dewford, home of all trends! What be up?!" Sam sighed.

"What the hell are you doing? Where are we?" Sam asked, a touch annoyed. The man grinned.

"Where but the Dewford Town Hall? Come in, my man, and join us for a round of drinks!" Sam backed up.

"Whoa, whoa. I'm only 15, man…" much to his relief, the man laughed.

"Hahaha…only joking. But seriously, this is the Dewford Town Hall. Why don't you come in and have a soda or something? We always love hearing news from the other islands…" the man was obviously much more serious this time.

"Ah…what the heck. Sure, why not. I'm in." The man grinned, leading Sam inside.

The Dewford Town Hall was a huge building, complete with bar and tables. Sam grinned as he planted himself on a bar stool. Suddenly, he realized he had a certain baby Pokémon who might enjoy the chance to dance around in the bar.

"Mime Jr., let's go!" he tossed the pokeball and revealed the small pink creature, who looked up at him.

"Mime?" it asked. Sam grinned, picking it up. He placed it on the bar as a kind looking man walked down.

"Hey there! Andrew tells me you're from off the island?" he asked. Sam nodded. "Great…well then, your drinks are on the house so long as you keep us kept up with the latest news here." The man pulled out a glass and poured him a soda.

"Where to start…what do you all want to know?" he asked. One voice boomed out from across the room.

"Trendy saying!" several more followed up with the same phrase, slowly leading to a chant. Sam closed his eyes.

A trendy saying? Where the hell am I gonna come up with one of those? Maybe a joke'll work… he thought. But what words should he use? Suddenly, he came up with a couple of good ones.

"YOUR MOTHER!" he roared. Everyone was quiet for a minute. "Um…hello?" Suddenly, someone spoke up.

"Your…mother…I love it!" it said. Voices rose in agreement. Sam sighed a breath of relief.

"Yeah, your mother! Your mother is amazing!" Sam suppressed laughter at this. These people obviously weren't getting the jokes in this. Still, it was kind of funny. Little did he notice that Mime Jr. was missing in action.

(BACK TO MIME JR.'S POV!)

Mime Jr. had snuck away during the awkward silence caused by Sam's stupid joke. He had managed to find another broken ventilation shaft and was walking happily enough through it. Before too long, he ended up in another room. It appeared to be an attic of some sort. Mime Jr. walked around, moving around whatever caught his fancy. Before too long, he had run into a mirror.

"Mime mime?" it looked at the mirror. His head appeared huge, but his body so small. He leapt up in amusement and his head became much smaller, his body becoming huge. The funhouse mirror was easily playing tricks with the baby Pokémon. Sighing, he eventually got bored of the mirror and walked towards the vent. He was about to leave when he noticed something shiny. A yellow box of some sort.

"Mime…" he grabbed it, using all the strength he had to carry it through the vent to the main room. He walked across the room, leaping on Sam's leg.

(And to a mixed…)

Sam looked down to see…Mime Jr., carrying something.

"Hey, buddy. What's this?" he picked both up. Mime Jr. was happily bouncing about, as usual. The box was what worried him. He noticed a crack in the middle and pulled it apart. A holographic map appeared. Sam looked it over, eyes opened wide. It appeared to be a map…of the town!

"Mime!" Mime Jr. cried happily. Sam smiled.

"Where did you find this, buddy?" he asked, looking it over. This thing…it had maps of this entire region. It would definitely be useful. Mime Jr. jumped off the bar, much to Sam's dismay. He followed it across the ground…to an air vent. The thing was, there was no grate on it.

"…so you went through here, huh? Wish I could…but yeah. Let's get going. We've got to find out where that gym is…" Sam scooped up the small Pokémon, much against it's will, and carried it across the room. He sat down at a table with a couple of guys who appeared to be trainers.

"Hey, new guy! What's up?" the man asked. Sam grinned.

"Not much. Say, d'you know where a guy can find a Pokémon Gym around here?" he asked. Both guys sighed.

"Figures you'd ask. Let me tell ya, man. Brawley's out of your league. Still, there's always Granite Cave…" he whispered. Sam raised an eyebrow.

"Granite Cave?" The men sighed.

"Yeah. Cave wrapped in darkness. It's to the north. It's the best place to train if you're serious about taking on Brawley. Go ahead up or stay in town; your choice. Brawley's got a gym in the south part of town if you wanna fight him, though. Just as warning, though, both Granite Cave AND Brawley are incredibly dangerous." Sam stood. Granite Cave…sounded like his kind of place.

"Thanks…" he walked towards the door before suddenly stopping and placing Mime Jr. on the ground.

"Buddy, we've got one last big one to pull…" he whispered.

"Mime mime?" Mime Jr. seemed to ask. Sam grinned.

"Everyone! I've got one more trendy phrase for you!" Everyone turned to face him. "Teeter Dance!" Mime Jr. started to dance. Everyone looked at him with an odd look for a second before suddenly standing up and dancing, completely against their will. Sam grinned. He stepped out after picking up Mime Jr. Granite Cave was next…but only after a pokecenter.

OOC: Yeah...here to get Mime Jr. up to fighting strength. Granite Cave is next :)

Also, the Town Map is just important...to Sam's character development :) xD

@.Eclipse - Nice post, bit confused how a map can influence character development but meh whatever.
"Yeah, your mother! Your mother is amazing!" Sam suppressed laughter at this.
xD

Congratulations Sam obtained a Town Map

Congratulations Mime Jr grew to Level 3 and is now able to battle
Congratulations Mime Jr learned Tickle, Barrier and Confusion

Note - the title specifying the rarity of a pokémon refers to how hard a pokémon is to catch. i.e. a much better post is required to catch an uncommon pokémon than to catch a common pokémon.
How I level the pokémon you're catching will depend on how good your post is. When you're trying to catch a pokémon, you cannot decide if you catch it. When trying to catch a pokémon you have to finish your post off when you throw the pokéball and wait for my response telling you if the capture was successful or not. You cannot continue until you know that it was caught. In battles, I will level up your pokémon depending on the quality of your battle post.

Arriving in Dewford

Kliff was awoken by the loud booming of the boat horn. It was one of those rare moments in life where an alarm clock seemed not all that bad. He found Rokko at the foot of the bed, sleeping like he'd been the whole journey to Dewford.

He was a little concerned. Gella and he had been practicing her moves to pass the trip, however Rokko only ate and slept. As in, only ate and slept. Kliff began to doubt the small pokemon's enthusiasm.

Stretching, he stood up from the bed and walked over to the egg he picked up. He found it a nice warm spot near a heater and gave it a pillow to rest on. It could hatch into anything, and that excited him a little.

As the boat drew nearer, Kliff threw his jacket and boots on and released Gella,

"Okay guys, we're about to stop in Dewford Island. We'll train today, and it's the gym tomorrow!" Gella bobbed up and down in anticipation at this - she was starting to enjoy the battling life. Rokko, however, simply grunted slightly and jumped back on the bed, rolling up for a snooze.

"Right, something's up with him..." Kliff said.

-----

Kliff flashed the ferry pass on his pokedex to a woman at the dock's entrance before heading over to the pokecentre. He intened to book a room, however he wanted to know what was bugging Rokko recently...

"Hello welcome to the-"

"Yea hi," Kliff said, "Can I book a room for the night please?"

"Certainly," the nurse said unmoved by Kliff's interuption. She typed something onto her computer and gave him a key, "Room 5, third on the right. Will that be all?" she asked with a pleasant smile.

"Umm, actually," Kliff responded letting Rokko out of his pokeball again, "something's up with my Zigzagoon, and I'm not sure what it is,"

"Oh okay," the smile turned into a look of sympathy, "I'll quickly examine it,"

"Thanks," said Kliff. As the nurse walked into the back, he wandered to his room, opened the door and found two bunks, a small table and an en suite. He happily dumped his bag onto one of the lower bunks and removed his jacket. The island was warm, so there was no point in lugging it about all day.

He approached the desk once more as Nurse Joy reappeared,

"Nothing seems to be wrong with him, just a few bruises here and there but nothing noteable." She said, "To be honest, I think you'r Zigzagoon's just lazy,"

"Lazy?"

"Well I presume you're a trainer?" Kliff nodded, "Well, I think it simply isn't in the mood for that kind of thing, you see?"

"I get it," Kliff said turning to Rokko, "Is that it little guy? Do you just prefer to laze about and not do much?" Rokko nodded, giving a 'purring' noise, "In that case," Kliff continued, "I know someone who can happily let you do that all you like,"

-----

Kliff picked up the phone, "Hello Professor Maple?" On screen, the pink haired professor appeared,

"Oh Kliff hello. Safe trip to... where was it?"

"Dewford. And yes, listen," he said, placing Rokko's pokeball in the transfer drawer, "I caught a Zigzagoon here, but it dosen't want to battle anymore. And I know Zigzagoon aren't native to Kanto, so could I send him over to you?"

(OOC: I've decided to deposit Rokko :P It may seem sudden but the idea was with me for a while :))

@Zeph. - Okay yeah depositing Zigzagoon is fine. I'll go and update the OOC thread now. Leaves Kliff a little short on the ground though doesn't it? I guess you're going to be catching something in the Granite cave before your Gym battle then...

One out, one in.

(Ahh but of course my dear slls :P)

Kliff turned off the screen. Rokko was back in Kanto now, so that was that. However he now only had one pokemon, and that wasn't good - sure she was getting pretty strong, but Gella couldn't handle everything.

He decided to explore the island a litte. Catch some fresh air, and maybe find out where he could find any new pokemon. He set foot outside into the bright, clear day. Kliff sighed in relief as he let the sea breeze catch his face as he walked along the sandy shore. Just then a surfer guy came walking over to him,

"Hey dude! Your Mother!" he said aloud.

Kliff nearly punched him in the face, "You what!?" he asked raising his fist,

"Woa, chill man. It's the latest thing, y'know?" the man said nervously. Damn locals,

"Oh, sorry," Kliff said lowering his fist this time, "sorry, I'm not local y'see..."

"Ah no worries," the surfer said throwing his board onto the sand and sitting on it, "where you from?"

"Pallet Town,"

"In Kanto? Jees..." the guy said, "well, sorry to be all in your face there, that's kinda how we do almost everything," he continued with a laugh, "what brings you to our little corner of Hoenn?"

"I'm actually here for a gym battle," Kliff said, the man shook his head with a small laugh,

"Kid, if I had a nickle for everytime I've seen guys like you coming here. Listen, it ain't no walk in the park y'hear? Brawly's our guy - and trust me, he ain't called Brawly for nothin',"

"What do you mean?"

"You'll find out soon enough. Hey, but if you're really gonna go for it, then go for it! Don't let me stop you," he said, "infact, there's the old Granite Cave north if you want to do some training!"

"Oh?" Kliff said looking at where the man was pointing. That seemed like an ideal place for training sure enough,

"If you're real lucky you could even find a Sableye!"

"Sableye? Whats-" Kliff began,

"It's a Ghost type pokemon," the surfer continued, "it'll cause Brawly a friggin' pain in the neck - trust me, you'll have him on the ropes for sure!"

Kliff thought about this 'Sableye' thing. If what this guy said was right, then it was worth a shot,

"Alright, thanks pal!" Kliff said to the man, waving to him as he ran back to the pokecentre. He could have went straight to the cave, but he'd be better off equipped for an 'exploration'.

He entered the pokecentre again to see nurse joy at the counter with his egg. It was cracking, and glowing slightly - it was hatching!

(Next post coming soon :D)

"Hey dude! Your Mother!" he said aloud.

Kliff nearly punched him in the face, "You what!?" he asked raising his fist,

I actually love you xD

Taking the egg from Kliff, Nurse Joy set up a few pillows around the egg to make sure the baby pokemon was comfortable when the egg hatched. Suddenly the egg began to glow brightly, causing Kliff to shield his eyes. When Kliff looked back at the egg, for a moment he thought nothing had happened. However, a second later a head popped out of the top of the shell and looked at Kliff inquisitively.

"Toki?" said the small creature...

Congratulations Kliff hatched a Level 1 Togepi

"Toki?"

"Aww it's a Togepi! Congratulations!" the nurse said as she gave the baby pokemon a quick checkup, "she's in great health too!"

"So you're a little girl too?" Kliff asked he picked up the new pokemon, it gave a reassuring nod,

"Tokiprrrii!" it chirped.

Kliff examined his new pokemon with the pokedex:

[PokeCommunity.com] [Best Veteran March/May 2011] A new professor in town - Kanto Adventure PG13
Togepi: the Spike Ball pokemon. As its energy, it uses the feelings of compassion and pleasure exuded by people and Pokémon. It stores up happy feelings in its shell, then shares them out.

"Wow... interesting," he said.

Kliff, after gathering the essentials for Granite Cave, left the centre once more, Togepi in his arms,

"Toki?"

"You seem to say that a lot don't you?" Kliff said. He thought for a second, "How about we call you Tok for now?"

"Prrrii!"

"So here's the plan Tok, I'm gonna raise you up a little and we'll see what you're capable of, 'kay?" Kliff said, to which Tok nodded, "First we're gonna go into the Granite Cave, so if you want you can either watch me and Gella train, or stay in your pokeball..."

Tok caught one glimpse of the upcoming cave before she was off like a shot, hopping over to it. At first Kliff grinned, thinking she was just stretching her legs on the beach - however she was actually going to the cave.

"Wait, come back- hey!" Kliff said as he jogged after her, however Tok simply dissapeared into the cave's darkness. She was only a baby - she couldn't cope in there! Kliff ran in after her.

"Tok!" he shouted, "Togepi, where are you!" he could faintly hear a small noise coming from above. Kliff used the outside daylight and just managed to make out some old, crumbling steps to a higher floor. He carefully made his way upwards and as he reached the top, he was blinded by the darkness of the cave.

"Tok are you here?" Kliff called out, startling many Zubat who flew away from him screeching. However he identified one cry,

"Priiii!" the sound echoed eerily through the cave,

Kliff followed the voice, heart racing - he was not going to be responsible for the death of a newly hatched Togepi. He came to one of the rocky walls and could hear heave breathing,

"To-ki..."

Kliff sighed in relief, he'd found her. However what he heard next sent shivvers down his spine,

"Ey-ey-eye..." it was a small cackle. Kliff tried to see what it was, and caught a faint glimpse of what looked like a diamond. It jumped, and Kliff nearly screamed when whatever the thing was latched onto his head. It's arms over his eyes and causing him to flail about frantically,

"Sablesablesable..." it chuckled histerically. Kliff stumbled over the rocky surface and landed on his side hard. He took a sharp intake of breath at the pain as the creature jumped off him. The pokedex suddenly began to beep. Kliff took it out of his pocket and opened it, the screen lit up and the machine spoke:

[PokeCommunity.com] [Best Veteran March/May 2011] A new professor in town - Kanto Adventure PG13
Sableye: the Darkness pokemon. It digs branching holes in caves using its sharp claws in search of food--raw gems. A Sableye lurks in darkness and is seen only rarely.

"So that's a Sableye. They're rare right enough..." Kliff said. With the pokedex's light, not only did the ghost pokemon suddenly pause in shock, but Tok could be seen against the wall, tears welling up in her eyes in fear. Sableye turned and saw the baby pokemon, before raising a claw and growing a massive grin,

"No, Tok!" Kliff gasped as he struggled to his feet, side still hurting. The imp pokemon lept to the Togepi and came down on her with a Scratch attack. Kliff gritted his teeth, however Togepi seemed to avoid the worst of the blow, in fear, she began to glow slightly and a square appeared infront of her. She grew three small claws on her own hand and attempted to hit Sableye,

"Mirror Move!" Kliff said entusiastically, however the attack went through Sableye, doing nothing. The pokedex beeped,

"Sableye is a Dark/Ghost type. Normal attacks won't work." It said mechanically. The light began to fade again...

"Wait! Keep that light!" Kliff said placing the device ontop of a rock. The light spread across the area well enough.

Tok was near collapsing, she couldn't last. Kliff returned her to her pokeball - feeling guilty that he let her be attacked. Nonetheless, this guy looked impressive - and a Dark/Ghost typing meant no weaknesses and a lot of resistances. Too good an opportunity to let pass,

"Gella! Go!" Kliff called. The Tangela burst out and stared down the Sableye - ready for action.

"Sableye!" the Dark pokemon called as it lunged for Gella with another Scratch attack. Kliff gritted his teeth,

"Use Growth!" Gella glowed the faintest green before increasing in size a little. Sableye landed the hit, knocking Gella back a little,

"Now Absorb!" Kliff ordered. Gella struck Sableye with the small green beam, sapping away at its health. Sableye grunted in pain before swiping its arms to the side, knocking the attack away. Its sapphire eyes began to glow as it shot Gella an intimidating look. Gella backed up,

"It's just lowering your defense! Quick, try another Absorb!" Kliff shouted. Gella shot another beam, heading for the imp pokemon. However it did a side dodge and homed in on Gella, raising a clawed hand and slashing it down onto her head. The grass pokemon yelped in pain at impact, ceasing Absorb.

"Try a Sleep Powder!" Kliff ordered. The Tangela sprinkled some green dust around, however Sableye chuckled and did something too wierd. It shrank into the floor, 'blending' with the shadows? Due to the pokedex light, there weren't too many shadowy areas, but enough for this Sableye to move about with. Kliff cursed,

"Stay calm Gella!" he said reassuringly, "use Ingrain!" Gella planted a few small vines into the cavern floor. She was secured and restoring health - though minimal health as the ground was pure rock.

"Eyyyee..." Kliff turned behind him to where the noise was coming from,

"Saable - eye!" He did a 180 this time, hearing the noise in the other direction. This little punk was giving him the creeps! That and the little guy had nearly broken his hip in the process. It was going down...

Kliff quickly scanned the area. He caught a quick glimpse of a moving gem - one of the rubys on Sableye's back,

"Quick Gella - PoisonPowder over there!" he said pointing to where it was going to reappear. Gella shot out two vines and hastily sprinkled purple powder this time.

Sableye emerged from the darkness, coughing and spluttering as the dust blanketed him. The result was unexpected - PoisonPowder had a light purple glow in the dark! Sableye could be seen wherever he was!

"Great Gella! Absorb quick!" Kliff shouted. Gella fired another green beam at Sableye, smaking it head on. The imp cried out as it was being hurt by the attack and the poison combined.

Its eyes flashed with another Leer attack. Gella couldn't help but stop Absorbing at this point, leaving Sableye open to attack. It jumped to Gella, arm outstretched. It was about to swipe when it flinched at the poison damage - letting its guard down.

"Absorb!" Kliff screamed. Gella improvised this time, coating her vines in the Absorb energy and wrapping them tightly around the defensless Sableye. It screamed in pain as Gella wrapped it tightly in health stealing energy. Catching a patch of shadow with its flailing feet, it dispearsed into the shadows and made a break for it - not on Kliff's watch.

What Sableye had forgotten was that it was coated in a glowing PoisonPowder:

"One last Absorb Gella!" Kliff shouted, poining at the fleeing purple glow.

"Taaangelaa!" The grass pokemon wooped as it lauched another Absorb. The attack hit the ground, right on target,

"Saabllle!!" the dark pokemon growled in pain as it was struck again. Its body raised to the surface and fell flat on its face.

"Good work!" Kliff said as he threw a pokeball at the ghostly imp. The pokemon was sapped inside and the pokeball began to budge back and forth.

Both Kliff and Gella were sweating - anticipating the result.

@Zeph. - Three posts in a day? Nice work... :D

Nice use of Togepi in her first post :) And a nice battle with Sableye as well :)

Kliff nicknamed Togepi 'Tok'
Congratlations Togepi (Tok) grew to Level 2

Congratulations Kliff caught a Level 6 Sableye

Stopping in front of the cave, Sam sighed. Mime Jr. was safely back in his pokeball (much to Sam's content) as his trainer walked inside.

"Doesn't seem so dark to me…" Sam looked the cave over, looking the walls. Suddenly, something leapt down from above. It was purple with shiny eyes…that appeared to be gems!

"Whoa…what's this?" he asked, pulling out the pokedex.

*bulbagarden.net image removed*

Sableye, the darkness Pokémon. In the dark, this Pokémon searches for its favorite food: raw gems.

"…well, isn't that pointless…" Sam whispered, drawing Cleff's pokeball. "I'll wrap this up fast. Cleff, get in there!" He tossed the ball, revealing the peach colored fairy.

"Clefairy?" Cleff turned her head to face Sam. He smiled.

"Hey, girl. Ready? We're taking this thing down! Use Doubleslap!" Cleff leapt forward, swinging her hand. Suddenly, Cleff's hand passed straight through Sableye. The purple Pokémon snickered.

"Sable…eye!" It swung it's clawed hand forward, smashing it hard into Cleff. Sam noticed this as a scratch attack.

"Cleff, don't just stand there! Get back in it with Sing!" Cleff opened her mouth to sing and let out several pretty notes, causing Sableye to back up sleepily.

"Eye…sab…" it muttered before suddenly collapsing on the floor. Cleff giggled at the sight. Sam looked the cave over, looking for a way to attack. Suddenly, he saw something that might work.

"Get up on that wall, Cleff!" He yelled. Cleff leapt up onto some jagged rocks on the wall, looking at Sam curiously. He grinned. "Now, use Pound on the rocks, make them fall!" Cleff nodded, smashing her fist into the rocks. They fell off the wall, crashing to the ground on top of Sableye. Sam heard a screech of pain and smirked.

"Clefairy." The peach Pokémon cheered as she leapt off the wall, landing daintily. Sam smiled as the fairy skipped over to him.

"Great work, Cleff. You did a great…LOOK OUT!" Sam grabbed the fairy and leapt out of the way just in time to avoid a rock. He turned to face the pile only to see Sableye standing on top of it, looking a little beat up. The purple Pokémon, despite all the damage Cleff had done, still had the same evil grin on it's face. Sam scowled.

"Sableye!" the creature leapt at Cleff, who quickly dodged it with a backwards jump.

"You don't know when to quit, do you? Cleff, Pound it!" Sam knew the attack wouldn't work, but maybe he could get Cleff across the room to make a move of some sort. Cleff leapt forward at Sableye, swinging her fist. The creature smirked, then swung it's claw with incredible speed, hitting Cleff hard across the face. She slid back, holding her face. Sam sighed.

"Clefairy!" she looked up in anger, glaring at Sableye. Leaping at him, she swung her fist hard. Sableye simply stood there, snickering. She suddenly passed straight through it, crashing into a pile of rocks. Sableye leapt at the cave wall, suddenly climbing up it. Sam sighed a sigh of relief.

"Thank god it's gone…" he whispered. Suddenly, a large rumbling sound echoed out from the peak of the cave. Sableye leapt down, landing on top of the pile. Sam tried to bark out a command, but it smashed hard into Cleff with it's claw, sending her flying backwards into the ground. Suddenly, rocks began to fall from the ceiling. Sam dashed forward to grab Cleff, but suddenly, several rocks crashed down on the fairy.

"CLEFF!" she cried. Sam dashed forward, running over to her. He scooped her up and ran out of the cave. He had to get her to a pokecenter right away.

Several minutes later, Sam ended up in the building. He ran Cleff over to the nurse's counter.

"Please, help Cleff!" he cried, worried for what was going to happen. Nurse Joy's eyes opened wide and all she could do was nod as she grabbed Cleff and took her into the back room.

Half an hour later, Sam sat in the pokecenter chair, still worried about Cleff. Nurse Joy stepped out, looking down at her feet. In an instant, Sam was up and next to her.

"Nurse Joy…please tell me Cleff is alright!" he pleaded. She looked down at the ground.

"I'm sorry. You Clefairy…she's too injured. I can't do any more here. But you, you work from a Pokémon Lab, correct? Perhaps whoever runs that lab can help you…" Sam rushed over to the phone, jamming the keys to dial Maple. She appeared on the screen, confused why he was calling.

"Sam? What're you callin-"Sam interrupted her immediately.

"Professor, Cleff is hurt! Please, get some sort of medical help ready! I'm transferring her soon!" Sam ran into the operating room, much against the will of a confused Nurse Joy. Cleff was laying unmoving on a bed. Sam pulled out her pokeball and recalled her, running back into the main room. He stuck the pokeball in the teleporter and it quickly vanished. Sam sighed.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Maple screamed. Sam looked at her.

"Cleff got hurt in a fight…really bad. Please, fix her as best you can…PLEASE!" Sam pleaded. Maple sighed.

"…fine, but only because you're one of my trainers. She's here now. I'll contact you in the next couple of days, alright? Good luck with whatever it is you're doing…" Maple cut the connection. Sam looked at his feet nervously. Nurse Joy walked over.

"What did that to your Pokémon, anyway?" she asked. Sam suddenly narrowed his eyes in anger.

"That Sableye…I'm going to kill it!" he roared, suddenly running out of the pokecenter.

Roughly 5 minutes later, Sam ended up back at Granite Cave, looking around angrily. He sighed a familiar sight; the Sableye from earlier.

"Sable…" the creature snickered at him. He glared at it.

"You are dead…SO DEAD!" he threw the first pokeball he could grabbed. Suddenly, Mime Jr. appeared. He appeared, looking around confused.

"Mime mime?" it asked. Sam sighed.

"Of all the Pokémon I have with me, I would pick Mime Jr. I don't even know his moves…" Sam pulled out his pokedex to find out what moves his Pokémon had.

"This Mime Jr. knows four moves. They are: Tickle, Teeter Dance…" Sam sighed. "…Confusion and Barrier." These last two caught Sam's interest.

"Hmm…just maybe…" he whispered, chasing after Sableye. The creature grinned, leaping down a hole. Sam didn't hesitate to jump after it; a stupid mistake. He landed hard on his butt, spouting out a couple words of profanity.

"Sable…" the creature laughed. Sam glared at it. It was hard to see now, though, what with the darkness of the room.

"…Mime Jr., use Confusion on that rock!" He pointed to a rock that he could still see. The small Pokémon landed before becoming coated in blue energy. Suddenly, the rock was lifted into the air. Sableye's eyes opened wide, much to Sam's excitement. "Now throw it!" Mime Jr. tossed the rock forward, sending it crashing hard into Sableye. The creature growled as it was hit, climbing over the rock. It glared at Mime Jr. before lashing out at the creature. Mime Jr. appeared scared, but Sam grinned.

"Now, use Barrier!" A blue barrier appeared around the small creature as Sableye smashed it's claw forward. It's claw twisted right as it screeched out in pain. Sam snickered.

"Serves you right…" he whispered. Mime Jr. raised his hand at Sableye, shaking it as though to tell the creature off. Sableye roared, leaping at Mime Jr. He swung his claw again, this time crashing it into the small creature. Mime Jr. flew backwards, beginning to cry.

"Mime Jr., stay strong! Get back in there with…Tickle!" Sam thought of the attack before any others. Mime Jr. leapt forward, suddenly moving his hands up and down Sableye's sides. Much to Sam's amusement, the purple creature started to laugh out loud.

"Mime mime…" Mime Jr. giggled. Suddenly, Sableye backed up, still laughing a bit. It calmed down before too long and closed it's eyes. Suddenly, all outline of the creature disappeared. It had turned black!

"Dammit dammit dammit!" Sam cursed. How was he supposed to his something he could see?! Still, maybe there was a way!

"Sableye!" Mime Jr. was suddenly sent flying again, crashing into a wall. Sam looked at the creature. He hadn't anticipated such a swift response. Still, it would work for him.

"Mime Jr., lift the dirt off the ground and throw it at Sableye!" Mime Jr. nodded before suddenly focusing again. A layer of dust lifted off the ground before flying forward at the black creature. It was covered in dust and called out in pain. Sam grinned. It's eyes had been open.

"SAB!" it cried. Sam grinned. Time to go on the offensive.

"Mime Jr., quick! Hit it with the rock again! Mime Jr. started to lift the rock, but suddenly fell. Sam's eyes opened wide, but he understood. "…good job, Mime Jr. I couldn't have asked for more…" He returned the small creature, who was obviously exhausted.

"Sable…" the Sableye stood, glaring at Sam. He grinned.

"I'm gonna end it this time. Skorp, get in there!" He threw out the pokeball and this time, the purple scorpion appeared. Sam grinned.

"Skoru!" it cried.

"No time for questions! Use Poison Sting!" Sam expected to see the Pokémon open it's mouth and fire off purple needles, but instead, the needles on his pincers flew off, followed by several more bursts of the same move. "The hell?!"

"Pin Missile…" Sam's pokedex spouted. He sighed. Still, Pin Missile was certainly an interesting move. Sableye was hit by the move, backing up but not obviously injured.

"Sableye!" it cried, leaping at Skorp. Sam growled.

"Get back in there, Knock Off!" he commanded the move, which ended up being a defense to a tackle of sorts. The two collided, sliding back. Sam growled at how dangerous this Pokémon was.

"EYE!" Sableye cried, leaping at Skorp. It slashed with it's claw, crushing Skorp. Sam growled.

"Don't just sit there, use Bite!" Skorp lashed out, grinding his teeth into Sableye's arm. Sam grinned. Skorp really was tough. Sableye smashed hard into Skorp's head with his other claw, causing the scorpion to let go for a second. Sam glared at Sableye. It obviously had skill…and he did need a replacement for Cleff…

"Skorupi!" Skorp stabbed it's opponent with its barbed tail, causing Sableye to back off. Sam grinned.

"Let's play this game! Skorp, use Poison Sting!" Skorp nodded and fired off several shots of poison needles. Sableye backed off in anger, glaring at Sam.

"Sable…EYE!" it lunged again, swinging hard at Skorp, who jumped back father swiftly. Sam grinned.

"Good work…now let's wrap this up! Skorp, full force! Fire off Poison Sting and Pin Missile at the same time!" Skorp nodded before firing off countless needles of multiple types. Sableye was hit rapidly by the move, but stood strong. He scowled and leapt forward at Skorp.

"Sable!" it cried, bringing it's claw down. Sam knew Skorp might not survive this move. But…!

"Skorp, stick your tail into it!" Skorp stabbed forward with it's barb as Sableye brought the claw down. Next thing Sam knew, his opponent was jumping back in pain. He knew that he had to end this fast.

"Go, use Bite and throw it!" he roared. Skorp charged forward, biting down hard on Sableye's injured claw, causing it to screech loudly in pain. Sam grinned as Skorp spun around, throwing the creature into a wall. Sableye crumpled immediately at the hit.

"…pokeball, go!" he suddenly whipped a pokeball off his belt and threw it hard at the creature. "You'll just have to atone for hurting Cleff some other way…"

The ball crashed hard into Sableye, sucking the Pokémon inside instantly. Sam heard another screech from Sableye as it was sucked into the ball. Suddenly, he heard a growl out of Skorp. The scorpion had really taken some damage taking down Sableye.

Come to think of it, this thing took out Cleff, exhausted Mime Jr. and then did a number on Skorp too. If I can just harness that kind of power… he thought as the ball started to shake violently. He'd know just how he did soon…

OOC: Well, epical post here. DAMMIT ZEPH! You broke my record...2 in a day multiple times. JUST YOU WAIT xD

@.Eclipse - Aaaawwww poor Cleff T-T. Still nice post, good use of Mime Jr in his first battle. :)

Sam sent Clefairy (Cleff) back to Professor Maple's lab

Congratulations Sam caught a Level 6 Sableye

Warren grimaced as the unconscious Violet was returned, unmoving, to the Pokéball in his outstretched hand. He had hoped that she'd get in at least one hit, but all he'd done so far was waste time. Now, it was time to get serious.

"Cuddles, you're up!" Well, as serious as you could get with a nickname like that.

"Start with a Leer!" Cuddles grinned, narrowing its eyes and Geodude faltered for a second. Instantly, Cuddles took the opportunity, dashing forwards and ducking under the rock's guard to jab repeatedly at its face. Unsurprisingly, Geodude seemed pretty much unperturbed by the attack, flying back, but merely shaking its head in annoyance.

"Tackle it!" Warren swore as Geodude spun forwards, shoulder-barging Cuddles and sending the bear fling backwards. Skidding to a halt, it winced, rubbing its bruised shoulder.

"Fine then…Fake Tears!" Cuddles looked up, eyes brimming over with tears and Geodude faltered for a second. The bear stepped forwards, its eyes wide and ripping as Geodude grimaced in annoyance. Warren raised an eyebrow.

"Now, Lick it!" In a split second, Cuddles's expression changed and laughing manically, it swung its tongue out and slapped Geodude across the face. The rock's eyes went wide and it rolled back, head over heels. Not that it actually had any heels, but that's beside the point. Looking up, the rock winced moving in an oddly jerky way. Warren grinned as he realised that Lick had paralysed Geodude's muscles. Now he could really out-speed it.

"Alright, circle and Fury Swipes!" As Geodude twitched spasmodically, Cuddles shot forwards, disappearing into a blur, swiping from the left, then the right, from behind, then striking at the face. Geodude twitched, far too slow to even see the attacks, let alone block or counter them. Panting heavily, it flew back, nicks and cuts all over it.

"Now, finish it with a Scratch!" Leaping high into the air, Cuddles raised both hands above its head, before bringing all six claws smashing down onto Geodude's face the rock crashed into the ground, throwing up a huge cloud of dust, and lay still. Warren sighed. Just one more to go. Roxanne scowled as she returned Geodude.

"Alright, you did well to beat Geodude. But there's no way you're gonna beat Nosepass! Let's go!" Warren frowned as the next living rock materialised on the battlefield – this one almost twice as big as Cuddles. Then, he had a sudden brain wave.

"Quickly, Danny! I need to borrow that Choice Band!" Roxanne sputtered with indignation.

"What?! You can't start swapping items mid-battle!" Warren scowled.

"Says who? There's no rule against it!" Roxanne paused, then smiled deceptively and fluttered her eyelids a few times.

"Aw, come on….I'll make it up to you." Warren froze, grinning madly for a second. The grin instantly fell off his face, however, when Danny kicked him hard in the shin.

"What the hell?!"

"You are NOT falling for that one!" Danny yelled, half in annoyance and half in amusement. "Now get with it!" Sighing moodily, Warren snatched the scarf, stepping forwards to tie it firmly around Cuddles's head. Alright…just one move…he had to choose wisely.

"Fury Swipes!" Instantly, Cuddles shot forwards, slashing crazily at Nosepass from all sides. The rock stumbled back, but seemed more annoyed than hurt. Roxanne snickered.

"No matter how hard you hit Nosepass, claws aren't going to do anything. Let me show you a real attack! Use Rock Throw!" Warren swore as Nosepass held out its arms, boulders rising up from the ground. It swung its arms forwards and the rocks flew straight at Cuddles. The bear, panting heavily, leapt to the side, landing on all fours.

"Again!" Caught off guard, Cuddles was struck full on by the next rock and sent skidding along the ground. For a second, it paused, then shakily climbed back to its feet, staggering a little. Warren's eyes went wide as he watched it sway. He had a plan.

"Okay, move forwards and get up close!" The bear dropped to all fours again for speed, leaping high into the air and grabbing onto the top of Nosepass's head.

"Now, take out its feet!" Dropping to the ground, Cuddles drew back both hands as the lumbering rock slowly turned, before jabbing its claws hard into Nosepass's feet. Staggering, it began to sway and Warren grinned.

"Knock it down!" Cuddles grinned, slashing at the rock's face and sending it tumbling to the ground with a loud crash. Roxanne frowned.

"Nosepass is down, but not out!" she yelled, angrily. "Rock Tomb!" Not even bothering to get up, the rock lifted both arms high, then smashed them hard into the ground. Immediately, pillars of stone began to erupt out of the earth, chasing after Cuddles, who was now fleeing in terror. Warren grinned as Cuddles charged past him, now the opposite end of the battlefield from Nosepass. Roxanne had just doomed herself.

"Get back to Nosepass!" Gritting its teeth, Cuddles spun and, leaping high over one of the pillars of rock, began to charge back at Nosepass, boulders still emerging just inches behind. The bear stumbled and Warren swore as it was sent flying, but it was on course and it landed on Nosepass's forehead. For a second, nothing happened, then one of the rocks, aimed at Cuddles, burst out of the ground directly underneath Nosepass, sending both Pokémon flying high into the air. Cuddles landed on its feet and Nosepass on its face. Slowly, ever so slowly, the living boulder struggled back to its feet and glared malevolently at Cuddles. Then, with a long sigh, it collapsed on its back on the rocky earth. Warren grinned widely as he stepped over to Cuddles's side.

"Not bad…you could do with moving a bit quicker, though." Roxanne frowned.

"Your Teddiursa just won a tough battle. You should be congratulating it, not criticising." Warren grimaced.

"Well, how about you train your way and I'll train my way. I'll take my badge for beating you now, as well." Roxanne scowled as she held out the small symbol. Warren took it, smirking, and clipped it onto the inside of his jacket, before turning back to Danny.

"Alright….let's get back to the Pokémon Centre, drop off the teams and celebrate!"

Chapter 7: The Journey Takes a Zig Zag

Jazmine awoke groggily, rubbing her eyes with balled fists. She yawned. Looking around, it took her a moment to figure out where she was. Remembering, she slid her bare feet into her slippers, and pulled herself out of bed. The day before, she had hurried straight for the Pokémon Center upon reaching Rustburo, rented a room, and passed out on the bed. Sadly, she remembered what she had to do today. It was the day to return Pichu and head back to Littleroot…

Showered and dressed, she stepped out into the hall, Pichu in her arms and Surskit on her head, Taillow perched on her shoulder. Walking down the stairs leading to the lobby, a tear rolled down her cheek. Yesterday had been the best day of her life. Sure, it had had some down moments, but she had met some pretty cool people. And she was pretty good at the whole battling thing. But all things had to come to an end, no matter how good or bad.

Walking across the lobby, she stopped in front of the video phone, entering in a few digits for an operator. "Professor Maple, please," She said. A few moments later, and Professor Maple's face came up on the screen, her pink her flowing over her shoulders.

"Hello there! May I help with something?" She questioned.

"Um, yeah," Jazmine replied, her eyes watering up again. "I need to…return this to you. Pichu." Maple smiled.

"You must be Jazmine then?"

"Yeah, Jazmine, that's me." Jazmine gave a somewhat-fake smile. This woman was a bit on the 'goody-two-shoes' side, and Jazmine didn't like it. "Do I have to get her in a ball to send? Or can she just…go?" Professor Maple was about to answer, when a loud noise come crashing through the front door. Turning around, Jazmine saw Ninjalphabetti walk through the automatic glass doors and up to the counter, wood stilts as loud as ever. Giving his Pokémon to Nurse Joy, he spotted Jazmine. She sighed, bracing herself for-

"Hey Jazmine! How's that wimpy Surskit of yours? I didn't beat it up too much did I?" Jazmine glared at the window just above the short boy.

"Did you hit your head when you threw your littlie toddler tantrum?" She mocked.

"What are you lookin' at!?" Ninja sputtered stupidly, stepping forward.

"Not you! You're so short my vision goes right over you!" Jazmine responded. Grumbling, Ninja stalked away. Behind Jazmine, Professor Maple clapped.

"I see you've found a rival already! Have you fought him before?" Jazmine smiled, nodded, then plunged into a description of the battle, Surskit and Pichu turning the tables around, Pichu causing rain, throwing the yellow blanket, and winning the battle, Ninja running away steaming. Then she delved into the happenings afterwards, catching Taillow, leaving the forest and meeting Sam (who, at the name, Maple's eyes sparkled), and how the two had beaten the twins. "Wow! You've done a lot in one day. I bet if you kept that up, you could be a professional in no time!"

"Thanks!" Jazmine smiled. Maybe, Maple wasn't so bad after all?

"Jazmine, how would you like to keep Pichu? I could give you a ferry pass, and a trainer form. You would go around the region, fighting trainers and collecting badges. And of course, I'd give you a Pokedex to collect data for me. What do you say?" Before Jazmine could reply, her Pokedex beeped.

"Already here, Professor." It buzzed. Jazmine stood, her mouth open, staring first at her Pokedex, then at Pichu, then back at Maple.

"R…really?" Jazmine uttered, dumbfounded.

"Sure," Professor Maple smiled. Jazmine lunged for the screen and embraced the machine in a tight hug, forgetting Maple was in a totally different region.

"OH, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!" She shrieked. Then, she scooped up Pichu and swung her around, Taillow flying off screeching, Surskit scurrying under a nearby loveseat. Cooling down, she looked back at Maple. "Hey…do you know anything about a guy named Jasper?" Jazmine remembered the conversation on the phone yesterday. It seemed so long ago, it was hard to believe that it had been just the day before.

"Jasper Otz you mean? Yeah, he was one of my trainers. He made it to the league, and…in one of the preliminary matches, he ran off the field. He had a special Ditto though; it could change into a Pokémon it wasn't battling. In the match Jasper ran away from, his Ditto transformed into a Shellder, and that seemed to give him an idea. He ran for it." Maple finished. "Why do you ask?"

"Oh, no reason. I was…just wondering." Jazmine muttered.

"Okay then! Well, if you want to know more, you can ask Sam. Anyways, I gotta go, so…take the things I've printed out, and ask Nurse Joy what to do with them! By the way, Jasper had no parents. Just a little side fact. Bye!" With that, Professor Maple was gone, the screen left blank. Jazmine squealed again, and turned her attention back to Pichu.

"Looks like we're back on the road! But… what now?" Pichu shrugged. Finding it safe, Surskit emerged from under the loveseat, and Taillow flew over from the corner. She hugged both of them. Suddenly, Nurse Joy loudly cleared her throat. Jazmine turned around.

"Excuse me, Jazmine it was? Oh, well, that boy. He's your friend I believe? He left one of his Pokémon here. Would you mind taking it to him? I need to manage the center; he said he was heading north to train… Oh! Coffee break, thanks dear!" Jazmine blinked as Nurse Joy walked back into her office.

"That little…." Jazmine muttered, walking over to the counter and grabbing the Pokeball. "Well, authority rules. Let's go team." Jazmine left the center, and headed north, looking left and right at the hustle and bustle of the city. The buildings were tall, and people hurried about. Some snippets of signs caught her eye, such as 'Devon' or 'school'. Once she saw someone staring up at a wide building, the word 'gym' on its sign. After several minutes, Jazmine reached the edge of the city, leading to Route 116. "Why am I even doing this!?" She wondered aloud.

"Oh, you again, Jazmine?" A high-pitched voice drolled. "Funny seeing you here. Actually, I'm surprised you could make it all the way from the center!" Jazmine spun around and glared hard into Ninjalphabetti's face.

"Okay, seriously, what is your problem with me!? You walked up to me in the forest all arrogant, and you expect me to just…ignore it!? Then, when I THRASH you, you run off crying like a two-year-old! Then you run into me and start mouthing off about how you BEAT UP MY POKEMON, when, in reality, I beat YOURS to a PULP! Then I have the unfortunate experience of running into you again, and you act like you are superior to me!? WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM NINJALPHABETTI!? And seriously, who in their RIGHT MIND would name their child THAT!? If you think it's cool, or you're cool, or anything you DO is cool, it's not, because you are a LOSER!" Jazmine wiped sweat of her forehead and spit of her cheek, her finger drilled into his chest. He dropped his stilts, and sat down on the ground, sniffling.

"Okay. You win, Jazmine. I was a jerk to you. And… that isn't my real name. My parents named me Ziggy…just like all of their other pets. See, my parents, they were kind of busy. They worked at a huge business branch of Silph, the part that worked on Pokémon eggs. They were experimenting all of the time, they liked to use Zigzagoons, and each one they named Ziggy. So when I came around…you get it, right? They named me the same thing. I was just another nothing, an experiment, and my only friends were my Zigzagoons. My parents thought nothing of me. And I desperately wanted to prove them wrong. I grabbed some of my pals, my Ziggy friends, and I ran for it…but not without a bam. I...I… Jazmine, please, promise you won't tell anyone this!" Jazmine nodded. "I blew up their house. And then I ran. I don't know if they're still alive or not, but I just ran for it, not looking back. I came to Hoenn, and I vowed to prove them wrong. I would beat the gym leaders; I would be the champion of Hoenn…"

"Wow," Jazmine said, dumbstruck. What else was she was going to say? She almost gave him back his Pokémon. She almost said she was sorry, almost offered him a hand in training. Almost. But then, Ziggy said,

"Now, I'm going to go challenge Roxanne. You can too, if you want. I mean, come with me. But if you challenge, I doubt you'd get far. I never really understood why some leaders were girls…" Jazmine was furious. IN a flash, she slapped Ziggy across the face, and walked past him, onto Route 116. Walking onto a dock, not worrying about her fear of boards, she flung her feet over the edge, sitting on the wooden planks, hands over her face. She sobbed. She didn't know why she was getting all worked up over him. But for some reason, she was. Suddenly, a girl's voice spoke behind her.

"Oh what's wrong? Are you upset?" The girl asked. Jazmine stood up, wiping the tears away from her face. The girl had wavy, long, blond hair and a brown messenger bag slung over her shoulder. She was wearing a blue shirt with short-sleeves, and short, white shorts.

"No, I'm fine…" Jazmine mumbled. Taking Ziggy's Pokeball out of her basket, she threw it in the air, the tiny raccoon Pokémon bursting out of it. The girl gasped.

"I want a Zigzagoon! Where'd you get it? Are you willing to…. I'm Paula by the way… Are you willing to trade it for my Corsola?"

"Uhhh…sure?" Jazmine said. "I'll take anything really!"

"Here, you'll find this useful." Paula shoved a Pokeball into Jazmine's hands. "That's a Corsola, a Water and Rock type. It does well at the Rustburo gym. I wanna be a breeder, so I have no use for her! Anyways, I gotta go. Bye!" Paula ran off. Jazmine smiled. What a good deal! She'd gotten rid of that annoying Paula girl, received something that could help against the gym leader, and shipped off one of Ziggy's playmates.

Later, sitting oh her bed Pokémon Center, Jazmine was playing with her new Corsola, which she had named Shelly. She'd also named her others too. Pichu was now Pyu, Surskit Queen, and Taillow was now TaiTai. She figured that getting called Pichu all the time would get boring, especially since there was about 500 other Pichus in the world. Sighing, she curled up under the covers, and drifted off to sleep, her Pokémon around her.

Rustboro City was just beginning to stir under the weak morning sun as Warren stumbled out of the Pokémon Centre.

"Hey! Warren!" Bleary eyed, Warren turned to around to see Danny come charging out of the Pokémon Centre, waving several sheets of paper madly.

"Maple was on the phone, you left just before she rang, so I had to take a message. Warren snatched the papers and scanned them quickly, rubbing his eyes. Then he paused, looked up at Danny, looked down at the sheet of paper, then slowly grinned.

"Danny, this is a season ticket for the Hoenn Ferry. I can get to Dewford today; I could be challenging the next gym by tomorrow! This is awesome!" Danny frowned.
"Huh...wish Oak had given us tickets, it's gonna take ages to find another way there." Warren's grin widened as he spotted the advert at the bottom of the ticket.

TRAINERS!

Are you looking for a new member to add to your team? Do you want a FREE* Pokémon right now? Just visit Devon Corporation's HQ for your egg, free of charge.

Devon Corp. - because only idiots buy Silph.

*Trainers claiming eggs must own a Rustboro Gym Badge

Warren looked up, mouth open wide.

"Have you seen this? Free eggs! Come on, we have to get there as fast as possible!" Danny frowned.

"I think I'll pass."

"What? Why?"

"Meh, baby Pokémon don't suit me. If you're just taking eggs, you've got no idea what you're getting either. What if you end up with an Igglybuff?"

"Then I'll trade it. Besides, I could just as easily get a Trapinch or Bagon or Dratini or something." Danny shrugged.

"Fine. I need to try and get myself a ferry ticket though, so I don't have time to be wandering around Devon. We need to split up for now." Warren nodded.

"Sure...I'll see you around." Warren raised a hand, shielding his eyes from the sun as Danny turned and wandered back into the centre. Standing high above the other buildings was a massive skyscraper with the letters D.C. embellished on the side in black. Unable to suppress a smile, Warren started walking.

Half an hour later, Warren was thumping on a thick wooden door on the 39th floor, his legs aching madly. You would have thought that a building this massive would have a lift or something.

"Come on! You're meant to be handing out eggs, you lazy, lying, scamming fu-" Luckily for Warren, he was cut off at that very point when the door swung open and he instantly fell to the ground.

"Ow." Peering down at him, a bald-headed man wearing a white lab coat let out a long sigh.

"Well, once you've finished introducing yourself to the floor, feel free to take an egg and get out." Warren pulled himself up, grumbling as the man picked up one of the eggs and, after giving it a quick glance over, shoved it into his arms. Warren looked at it.

"What, I don't get to choose?"

"They all look the same, kid. You can't find out which one is the Mew just by looking." Warren sneered.

"Hilarious. I thought you wanted the gym badge too?"

"Nobody without the gym badge is going to bother climbing 39 sets of stairs just in case they can get an egg. Now, if you don't mind, we do have work to be getting on with." Warren sighed. Nobody ever wanted to just chill out in this city. The sooner he was gone, the better. Pulling out the crumpled ticket as he turned and slowly began to descend the mountain of stairs, Warren turned it over and scanned the timetable. There was a ferry leaving the port in ten minutes. But then again, it would take at least that long to just get to the bottom of these stairs. Unless, of course...Warren paused as he looked at his hand, resting on the smooth, spiralling metal rail that ran all the way to the bottom. He couldn't....could he? Warren grinned.

@You Just Lost The Game - With Danny gone, I guess Warren's on his own again? Although tbh he probably prefers it that way xD Anyway nice to see Warren hasn't lost any of his manners... xD
