Best Wishes Opening

Well, either this was the most awesome opening yet or this was the most awesome opening yet.

Either this is the best post in here, or it's the best post in here.

Anyway, I loveee this opening. <33
Ash singing, Pikachu running in a 3D black and white environment, a whole bunch of 5th generation Pokemon that are mysteriously shadowed... it's just, great. I think my favorite part of the whole opening is how they reveal the shadowed Pokemon one by one as they are revealed in the anime. It pushes the awesomeness further since Pikachu is passing by the Pokemon.. it shows the progress throughout the anime. Not to mention the song is very nice. ^^

On another note, I don't think the CGI was bad at all.

I absolutely loved this opening, and how they set up the entire scene to make the change just pop out at you. Doing it in complete CGI and showing only the Pokemon was a big change in the feel contrasting to the anime's typical opening, but that's only half the story.

To me, it felt so very symbolic to have Pikachu the only thing in color, running across an entirely black and white world filled with shaded-out Pokemon. It deeply pressed the fact into me that this was an entirely new world, and that you (or Ash, in this case) is starting from zero, knowing absolutely nothing but ready to see everything. The Pokemon shadows in the opening also get colorized after the episode that reveals them, which really drives home that feel of the (spoiler-free) new generation, when you went on an all new pokemon adventure, just discovering things. I'm not too much of a fan of CGI, and the preview made me ask questions, but I think the quality is alright; the Pokemon look about as well as they did in Pokepark Wii or your typical Japanese commercial for the games or TCG (they usually use 3-D for those types of commercials). The fact that it's all CG made it feel less out of place than it usually does in the main parts of the Anime. Rica Matsumoto singing is nice, I preferred her solo XD. The song doesn't stick out to me that much, but the animation just wins for me.

Something tells me that, this opening being so different from anything else we've seen before, it's either going to be met with my reaction, or heavy disappointment, with very little middle ground. :P

This is actually the first opening that I paid any attention to this early. And now that I've seen it a few times, I have to say that I like the animation. It took a little time to get used to Pikachu done in CGI. The song still needs some time to grow on me, but I haven't heard a OP since Frontier.

I also like how they reveal the Pokemon in the OP as they're revealed in the anime. Like The Red Chain said, it shows the progress of the characters. Quite nice.

This was rather a nice opening theme. But still I prefer the traditional ones without 3D. It looks somewhat awkward to me. But still, it is something different and it gives me all the more reason to look forward to BW.
But why is filled only with Pokemon and where is Ash? :O

I actually really like this opening. It's different, and I think it's awesome how they're going to show more and more of the blanked out Pokemon in the opening as they're revealed. :3 I also loved the song, especially the near end. :B

The new intro's a winner in my book. If you ask me, the fact that they went through all the trouble of doing it in full 3D makes the anime as a whole feel less "cheap".

And if those blacked-out Pokemon really do get revealed as the saga moves along, it'll add a whole new dynamic edge to the show. Definitely a smart move.

Makes me look forward to seeing more!

Seriously? I've listened to it 3 times and the song seems more like an ending theme, not an opening. Rika has to sing songs that make use of her powerful voice for her to sound really great, and this isn't one of those songs...I'm disappointed :( Not that she sounds bad in this song, she just doesn't sound anything special. I hope the full version has more yelling parts for her. Her voice is much more suited to songs like "Spurt!" or "OK!"

Saying "daijoubu" over and over seems like a jab at Hikari XD

Animation-wise, the CGI isn't that bad. Not as bad as it is in the actual show, anyway. I've always preferred seeing the characters more than random Pokemon. I can't see them doing this with the second BW opening though, so it'll probably be back to business as usual after this one.

I'm wondering how the dub's going to handle this. This opening's going to be hard for them to fit into their ADD-change-scene-every-5-seconds style.

However, it seems Pokémon finally saved up the money for an opening that didn't have to take any scenes from the actual show itself.

The Japanese openings never use footage from the show.

I don't really like it, it doesn't even show Ash. It seems like it's more suited for an ending. I realize they're trying to change things, but they aren't really doing an incredible job. I guess it's the thought that counts?

The cgi is fine. This is
Pokemon, the animation is normally below average anyways.

Actually, the Japanese openings never have used scenes from the anime, that's the dub's doing.

EDIT: I actually really like it now, but I still think it should be an ending! D:

That. was. Awesome!
I love it so much! :D

It's different. I actually like the animation, I mean, it's really different, even shounen or shoujo animes don't have that kind of opening, although the song... no comment.

I like it, but I don't like it.
I like the idea that its Pikachu and all the new pokemon. I also like the way it sort of looks like Pikachu is going around the world [or maybe Isshu?]

What I don't like is that there aren't any humans. I mean, I was expecting Iris and Dento to come up and then Ash to come in with Pikachu.

It did look like more of an ending song, but its cute.

Eh, it's okay. None of the human characters are there though.

I loved it a lot. Like a bunch of others said, it's not what I'm used to as far as Pokémon goes... but that doesn't make it a bad thing. It seemed fitting for the first opening in a new region. And I'm a big fan of the song.

I really hope they keep this opening in the American dub. This is the first generation I'm actually excited about since Gen 1.
