Better tool to compress .wav files?

So I want to insert cries into my game, using this tutorial:

However, it asks for AVS Audio Converter. It is a program where you have to purchase it to get full access, including the cries to not have a watermark. Is there a better program to do this?

I can simply give you the cries (as I have them upto Gen. VII in my DropBox for some reason) ready to be inserted in the game. Just tell me which ones you need.
