I think this is a real change from all the other Pokemon games. The graphics are much better and the music is great. It's also a lot more fun! :D

I can tell that YOU skim.

The graphics are better, but I don't think the gameplay is any better though..

Well, They Sure Beat Re/Bl In My Opinion Because Of The Running Shoes, But Go/Si Had That Aswell, But The 2 Kinds Of Bicycle Are Fun But Especially The 2 On 2 Fights Are Cool! The Beauty Contests Are Fun Too, The Graphics Are Also Better, But One Of The Nicest Things Are:

    New Moves, New Pokemon!

The only things better are the visuals and the expanded Pokedex. End of. The addition of EVs renders all of your Pokemon trained throughout your adventure worthless for competitive fights, and the games in general just don't seem that revolutionary. Not half as addictive as the GBC games if you ask me.

Some of the new monsters are also a bit [ugh], even though there are some nice additions to go with them. Too much emphasis has gone on legendary monsters as well. I remember the days of Red/Blue when you had three legendary birds and a super powerful genetically enhanced Pokemon to capture. They were totally unique, which made them a pleasure to hunt down and claim for your own.

Now though, we have what, 8 legendary monsters to find? 3 of which (Regis) having the most unoriginal names ever, 2 (Latios/Latias) being almost exact copies sprite-wise, and 3 mega-Pokemon (Groudon/Kyogre/Rayquaza). Catching them all becomes tiresome, and netting them is nowhere near as satisfying as bagging Lugia, for example.

Bleh, don't get me wrong. They're great games. Just not compared to the originals.

Dey are great, but I kant emagine truding through the hole of the first part of the gbc geyme without a byke...

I agree, I can't play the older games now, JUST because of the look of R/S. I can't even WAIT for RF/LG because I love R/B :)

EVs do much though to prevent competitive play form being so stale. You can't really be sure how much speed that has. Or if it's strong enough to OHKO you with that move. EV distribution at least tries to get rid of standards, though Focus Punch and FR/LG sure make Lax/Bliss/Skarm more lucrative. =\

Yeah, that's all well and good, but it still doesn't stop your starting monsters and those found throughout your first play through from being useless (well, they're ok for breeding I guess). The formula for the earlier games was simple: choose a team - learn the skills you like best - boost to level 100. It was a nice change to have an RPG with such a simple frame.

The idea that a Starmie excels in speed, while Alakazam is a superb special-attacker is the whole point to having so many different types of Pokemon. Their stat ratio should never have been messed with.

You might well argue that Pokemon with unfocused EVs are fine for in-game opponents, and that you only really need bother with them if you're in it for serious competition, but that's beside the point. They've still got crappy stats.

    hey hey hey
r/s is good. way better the g/s (not that it was the worst of the pkmn games) but r/s has the most mini-quest and that what made it so good it gave you something to do after beating the E4. but the best got to be r/b and when f/w come out it will be the best

Gold and Silver gave you a whole second continent to explore. Ruby and Sapphire are half the size of the second generation of games, and even the main game is shorter than Red and Blue's. Gold and Silver also had the best variety of Pokemon, seeing as the only ones you can catch in R/S are the new monsters plus a couple of oldies.

Gold and Silver = best Pokemon adventure games, by far.
