    Is there anything in particular that makes you nostalgic about Pokémon? Anything you see that immediately makes you want to play one of the older games? How often do you miss playing the earlier generations?

    (I'm asking this because changing my signature to Chikorita has made me crave Gold version. xD)
     
    Sometimes if I'm watching an LP of an older game, I might. Most of the time, my urges to play older games are just random. There's really no trigger for them haha. I still enjoy older games though!
     
    I think music plays a big part in the nostalgia factor. Hearing one of the battle themes from G/S/C is enough for me to wanna play one of the games.
     
    My urges for that stuff comes randomly, but sometimes when an old episode of Pokemon comes on, say part of the Johto saga, I'll want to play G/S/C or HGSS.
     
    Simply put, just about anything regarding the series as a whole makes me feel nostalgic in one way or another. Hell, even Unova does! In particular, seeing gameplay of the older games or hearing music from them makes me want to play through them once more.
     
    Watching the anime makes me feel terribly nostalgic, so I have to rush through my house and search for my older games. Of course, this only applies to the older anime episodes as well as the older movies. But sometimes, it just comes out of bloom and I end up playing through Yellow again.
     
    Honestly, just seeing fan art of my favorite characters from the past (most notably my beloved Leaf from the FRLG remakes is enough to make me at least consider playing my Leaf Green over again. And actually, I recently DID start LG over again, so I guess Leaf works really well for nostalgic inspiration purposes xD
     
    A lot of it for me is like others said watching older anime episodes wants me to re-experience playing the older games. Sometimes though I just get a feeling of delving into the games just to play.
     
    The music is the big one for me. Hearing it by surprise is often a trigger for future playing of the games. Old themes like the Gen II bike theme make me nostalgic for the simpler days of riding around Goldenrod trying to hatch an egg. Playing the Pokemon stages on a Super Smash Bros game can also set me off into the mood. And, of course, there's always the immortal Pokemon Centre music that I stole and used as part of my GCSE Music composition coursework... so, yeah.
