What if I told you that the sitcom Bob's Burger's wasn't originally about a happy-go-lucky family selling burgers? Instead, what if I told you that they were actually a group of maneating cannibals?

That was the direction that Bob's Burger's creator Loren Bouchard wanted to go in initially. As explained by a him in a recent interview, "I originally thought that the show should be about a family that runs a restaurant who are cannibals. Very early on, [Fox] said, 'Well do you need the cannibalism?'...I had really put it in there because I thought they would want it. I'm coming off of working for Adult Swim, and the darker, more shocking aspect seemed like what you needed in order for an animated idea to cut through the noise."

Before Bob's Burgers, Loren Bouchard worked as the creator of a show called Lucy, the Daughter of the Devil on Adult Swim. While it's pilot had aired in 2005, it didn't reach television sets until 2007; Bob's Burgers has been on the air since 2010 and is currently running its sixth season FOX.

Personally, I'm very happy that the creator didn't actually go in that direction. As a huge fanatic of the show since the beginning, there is a very unique kind of family comedy that develops that I think would have been lost if it had followed the way it was supposed to go. The comedy functions by each character's wittiness, which personally I don't know if it would have worked with cannabilism thrown into the mix. Plus, it wouldn't make a lot of sense to have a show with a circulating ensemble of cast members because they keep getting killed off.
What do you guys think? What if Bob's Burgers did involve cannibalism? Do you think it could work? Or do you think it would have been a big flop? Comment below as I'd love to hear and discuss with you what you have to say about this topic!
