Not sure if anyone of you or anyone have/had subscribed to his YouTube and listen to your favorite video game music (probably pokemon or name a few), BrawlBRSTMs3 decide he will no longer upload video game musicmostly from Nintendo and got hit by a copyright strike from the big N itself.

I know how much nintendo dont like piracy and fangames, but not this..

Usually when I'm on my desktop I have a Youtube tab open with something playing, and a fair bit of was stuff from that channel. Certain things I would listen to suddenly vanished a couple of days ago, and I had a feeling that something like this happened. iirc this isn't the first run-in the channel has had with Nintendo and/or Youtube (hence the 3 at the end of the current channel name). Don't really get why though Nintendo gives a shit about someone uploading tracks to Youtube who isn't monetizing them, but oh well, there's plenty of channels posting VG music.

I heard about this unfortunately and it is a huge loss.

I'm beginning to wonder now if these strikes were actually sent down by N* themselves or if YouTube's s----- system did it. Either way, it's for the better to remove the Nintendo content if soneek wants to keep the community around.

Youtube flagging system is awfully bad enough that lead some content creators to be road blocked, if was nintedoh themselves. Oh come on, its not even making money and its a better way of promoting, but then again people got away too with youtube downloaders and stuff to make things on a shady scale.

That's a shame. I use that channel for ASMR all the time. Nintendo are way too uptight when it comes to their content being up on youtube. They've removed let's plays of their games too in the past. Surely the free advertisement for their games is worth more than whatever extra money they'll make from people buying their soundtracks, which I still can't imagine will be much in this day and age. I've ended up checking out and buying quite a few games after discovering their OST's on youtube. It's not the main factor in my decision to buy a game but a good OST can leave a strong first impression and lead you to at least looking up more about a game.

Thing is, it's not just for VGM. Poketubers have had strikes or their channels completely taken down for fan-made or highly edited content. Funny thing is that VGM, particularly unedited, is arguably the closest thing to the actual product and seeing as its IP, it's easy to trademark and protect from copyright/piracy. Question is whether the uploaders were actually profiting from it or allowing people to download it. If it was the latter, then there's all the motivation Nintendo needs to take it down(Napster ring a bell?). Even if there wasn't anything going on, the fact people didn't have to pay to listen to the product, which as far as I know was basically a rip of the original product, they're going to take it down for $$$ reasons.

The fact that YouTube downloaders are a thing is what comes to mind when it comes to theft of IP.

Yeah.. I heard the news, I read the channels community posts. It's a shame but I mean we can't really do anything about it. Best we can do is download the music so we have it to ourselves 24/7 (IM NOT SAYING IT'S LEGAL, NOR RECOMMENDING IT O_O) or buying the games.
But it's still pretty messed up because Nintendo doesn't release the OST of all their games, so where else can we listen to it? Besides running through the game to get to a certain level.. but that's just a hassle. -_-
