Bringin' It Back! Stunfisk Legendary Treasures 83/113

Card of the week is back! The general idea is to discuss any aspect of the week's card. Now, this week's card is not particularly dazzling, but it's the first card I saw while searching for cards of mine that are modified legal.

This week's card: Stunfisk Legendary Treasures 83/113

I really like the clay Pokémon artwork cards. It's also nice seeing one that's not a Ditto haha. Competitively, I don't think I would use it. I'm more into cards that can deal large damage with greater risk than safe cards that do little damage. The 100HP is nice and so is the 20 bench damage from Muddy Water, though.

I'd rate this one quite highly! 100 HP with a 40 (well, 20 + 20) damage attack for only one energy on a Basic Pokémon is pretty great. It'd make a good lead to stall with and I don't think it'd have much trouble taking out a couple of opponents, especially when you take into account Rumble's trapping ability. Not a huge fan of the artwork unfortunately and late-game it's pretty useless, but it's a good enough card if you're lucky with drawing so I'll rate it 7/10.

It's definitely serviceable for casual play, which I'm fairly certain is how a large percentage of the people who play the card game here on PC play the game.

Where it's not really all that serviceable is when you start escalating the stakes, like in the TCGO or in official tournaments.

I'd personally rate it an 8/10 for casual (since it being an uncommon makes it pretty easy to get ahold of), and a 4/10 for tournament play. The artwork is in an awkward clay style that doesn't look so great with the card, though, so that gets a 4/10.

Being a reprint of the older stunkfisk card its decent. It has seen some play in the fun vileplume deck, where weakness is now 4x and with bangle can OHKO exs that are weak to fighting. Other than that its pretty decent. As said earlier, 20-20 damage is pretty solid for 1 energy on a basic and the HP count is pretty good as well. Though the fighting type damage isn't super helpful. Its a soft counter to darkrai and electric decks. But unfortunately, it has 100 hp and not 120, so it cant survive a night spear with dark claw. There are also no competitive electric decks atm. With a weakness to water, it makes the card even weaker. Being weak to one of the most popular decks is kind of a problem.

Its similar to landorus in many aspects. 1 energy cost for some cheap spread damage. High hp, and weak to one of the popular decks. Stunfisk has the benefit of not being an EX pokemon. So it can get the use of bangle and only gives 1 prize.

Overall its a pretty decent card. But it doesn't see much play, since if you are building a fighting deck, you are going to use Landorus and not Stunfisk.
